I. Teaching Objectives
1. Knowledge Objectives
Students will master vocabulary related to environmental protection (e.g., plastic pollution, recycling bin, garbage, creature, make a difference) and understand the conversation about cleaning up the beach.
Students will be able to comprehend the conversation, answer questions, fill in blanks, judge true or false, and discuss environmental protection methods with partners.
2. Ability Objectives
Improve listening and reading skills: Extract information from conversations and dialogues to complete tasks.
Enhance speaking and collaborative skills: Discuss environmental protection methods in pairs.
3. Affective Objectives
Help students recognize the harm of plastic pollution to sea life, inspire them to take action in protecting the environment, and foster a sense of responsibility towards environmental conservation.

III. Teaching Procedures
Step 1: Warm - up & Lead - in
Activity: Environmental Discussion
Ask students two questions: “How often do you clean your house?”, “How does plastic pollution affect sea life?”. Let students share their answers.
Step 2: Listening & Comprehension
Activity 1: Conversation Listening and Question Answering
Play the conversation audio among Jenny, Danny, and Brian. Ask students to listen and answer questions A - C:
A: What did the whale die from? (It died with more than 20 plastic bags, a toy gun, and other rubbish, 10 kilos in all, in its stomach.)
B: Why did Jenny suggest asking their family members to help? (Because there are only three of them, and cleaning up the beach would take too long.)
C: Why do they feel proud? (Because they made a difference in keeping the beach clean and protecting the ocean and its creatures.)
Check answers to ensure students grasp the main content of the conversation.
Activity 2: Conversation Listening and Blank Filling
Play the conversation again. Ask students to listen and fill in the blanks about their beach cleaning experience.
Activity 3: Dialogue Listening and True/False Judgment
Play the dialogue audio. Ask students to listen and write true (T) or false (F) for statements A - D.
Step 3: Speaking & Collaboration
Activity: Environmental Protection Method Discussion
Divide students into pairs. Ask each pair to discuss: “What can people do to protect the environment?”. Then have some pairs share their ideas with the class.
Step 4: Summary & Homework
Activity 1: Lesson Summary
Recap key vocabulary and phrases (environmental protection - related terms), the content of the conversation about beach cleaning and plastic pollution, and the importance of environmental protection.
Activity 2: Homework Assignment
Assign homework: (1) Write a short passage about what you can do to protect the environment. (2) Share your passage with family and discuss environmental protection actions.
IV. Assessment
In - class: Assess students’ performance in listening tasks, reading comprehension, blank filling, true/false judgment, discussion participation, and ability to express environmental protection methods.
Homework: Evaluate students' passages about environmental protection actions and their discussions with family to see if they can reflect on and practice environmental conservation.
V. Design Purpose
Skill Integration: Combine listening (comprehension), reading (conversation understanding), writing (short passage), speaking (discussion, sharing), and collaborative skills to deepen understanding of environmental protection.
