From their experiences, I’ve learned that it’s very important for children to play team sports. Teenagers may get into bad habits. But teenagers who often take part in team sports have less time for misbehavior. According to a study in Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, a survey of more than 14,000 teenagers found that those who had taken part in team sports were less likely to smoke or have unhealthy eating habits. Team sports make a child’s social world wider. Research shows that children who take part in team sports are happier than those who do not. And among middle school teenagers who take part in team sports, both boys and girls say they are happier when they are playing on a sports team. As children get older, they naturally develop their own lives and there will be fewer ways for parents to be involved (介入). However, even teenagers who are determined to shut their parents out still want their parents to attend their games. Sports build strong and healthy bodies. Children who compete know that they are only at their best if they ate and rested well. Cigarettes and drugs harm their performance and every athlete knows that. In sports, strength and speed, rather than thinness or other bad body image, are wanted. Team sports help kids avoid obesity (肥胖) problems even better than activities like running or biking. Sports teams can bring you lifelong memories. The joy of a sporting season stays with us long after the season is over. Our children may forget who was in their English class or which math teacher they had in the 10th grade one day. But they will never forget their sports teams. 1. But for David Almog, a behavioral economist at Northwestern University, the more fascinating rivalry is judges vs machine. How AI oversight affects human decision-making is an important issue. Drivers and traders already routinely see their poor judgment corrected by AI. Much of this correction happens out of the public eye, making it hard to analyze. But, according to Mr. Almog, “Tennis is one of the most visible settings where final decision rights are entrusted to AI.” Hence he and his colleagues studied nearly 100,000points from 700 matches worldwide, both before and after the introduction of Hawk-Eye ball-tracking system in 2006. Hawk-Eye, now used in most top tournaments, uses cameras around the court to create a 3D model of the ball’s track and display it on screens. Players can challenge calls, with Hawk-Eye’s decision considered final. The analysis from Mr Almog and his colleagues showed that Hawk-Eye oversight has motivated human judges 8% less mistakes. Such an improvement is to be expected, the researchers say, given the heightened watchfulness accompanying the threat of public shaming. Most of the error reduction occurred during rallies(回合) that follow a successful serve (发球) and return. However, when examining serves — especially those landing within 20mm of the line — the error rate surprisingly increased. It turned out judges had switched strategies. Before Hawk-Eye, judges were more likely to incorrectly call a serve out, but afterwards, they tended to let out balls go unchallenged. For every 100 mis-hit serves, post-Hawk-Eye judge left 39 unchallenged, compared to 26before. This shift makes sense; missed faults are less destructive than wrongly calling “out,” which ends the point early and may cause dissent(异议) from players and crowds. It seems that human judges take the less reputationally risky option, even if it leads to more incorrect calls. Tennis’s clear outcomes offer a simple model for AI oversight. But Almog warns similar patterns likely occur in medicine and law. These industries must consider the social costs of errors: judges may under-sentence, doctors over-diagnose. The effect of decision-making are far-reaching. Stay tuned! 1. According to Almog, what’s the rivalry between judges and machine? A. Judgment accuracy. B. Rule observance. C. Caution in match calling. D. Decision-making speed. 2. What did Hawk-Eye lead to when dealing with serves? A. Few misjudged serves overall. B. More unchallenged near-line serves. C. Players have more dissent. D. Judges trust their own calls more. 3. Why did judges make a shift after introducing Hawk-Eye? A. To justify Hawk-Eye’s judgments. B. To lower reputational losses. C. To speed up decision-making. D. To please players and crowds. 4. What can be inferred from the last paragraph? A. Human judgment is always better than AI. B. Hawk-Eye’s accuracy is beyond challenge. C. Technology could replace human judgement. D. Blind trust in AI may misguide decision-making. Passage 2 (辽宁省县域重点高中2024-2025学年高二下学期期末英语试卷)The first running boom came in the 1970s and 80s and there was no real diversity: it was all thin, skinny, white guys in very tight shorts. The second boom came after Paula Radcliffe broke the world marathon record in 2003, leading to a big jump in women taking up running, before parkrun grew the numbers again. You look now. This explosion — and it really is an explosion — has been brilliant to see. More than 1.1 million have signed up for the 2026 London Marathon — not only a world record but nearly double the figure from two years ago. Strikingly, for the first time, the male/female division is almost 50/50. The race is also getting younger: more than a third of UK entries are aged from 18 to 29 years old. Running has always been cheap and anyone can do it. Now it is also fashionable. But dig a little deeper, and there are some interesting things going on. Last month, for instance, Sport England found that while there were 349,000 more runners in England in 2024 compared to 2023, that rise was almost entirely fueled by women. “Part of the rise is because brands have realized that women are willing to spend a lot of money on products that work better and look nicer,” says Lee Glandorf, a marketer who works with sports brands. This huge ecosystem of female creators definitely brings in younger women. That is particularly true of Gen Z, who drink much less than previous generations and is more aware of mental health. A research is now showing that running is better than taking a pill to help with depression. Another factor behind the boom is the explosion of running clubs, which bring people together. In the buildup to the London Marathon, the sports brand Tracksmith had up to 400 runners gather outside its shop for its Sunday morning long runs with pacers running between 6.45-minute and 12-minute miles. 5. What can be known about the second running boom? A. Women preferred running to jumping. B. It was caused by parkrun across the world. C. Participants were all men professional runners. D. It began after the world marathon record was broken. 6. How is paragraph 2 developed? A. By offering surveys. B. By making comparison. C. By presenting numbers. D. By making a summary. 7. What change has taken place in running? A. It is fashionable. B. It is easily accessible. C. It involves more women. D. It is environmentally friendly. 8. What is the last paragraph mainly about? A. Diverse running styles. B. The benefits of running. C. Teenage runners’ health issue. D. The causes of the new running trend. Passage 3 (山东省济宁市2024-2025学年高二下学期7月期末英语试题)Hard-pressed office workers in China are adding exercise into their work day by jogging with laptops, lifting lunch packs, doing office chair Pilates. The practice, known as “5-minute quick-charge workout”, has become all the rage across the mainland. In early July, an internet user posted a picture on Xiaohongshu of a colleague engaging in a quick-charge workout while waiting for the lift, and titled it, “Office workers have their own gym.” The image shows a woman with a lunch delivery bag in one hand and a canvas bag in the other, which she was using in place of dumbbells and lifting them repeatedly while waiting. She also had several food delivery bags tied around her waist, adding weight to her workout. The colleague called her a genius, saying, “She always volunteers to bring lunch for everyone from downstairs, describing the trip as a weighted workout.” “Since she sits in the office all day with no time to go to the gym, she manages to have a quick workout while carrying takeaway or waiting for the lift, thus saving on gym fees,” the colleague said. Chang, a copywriter from Zhejiang province, shared her exercise approach with Jiupai News. She jogs to the subway station while carrying her laptop. “My computer is a bit heavy, so it feels like weight training,” she said. “I’m afraid I will not stick with it and waste my money,” she said. “A 5-minute quick-charge workout is more manageable for us office workers who often work overtime and do not have much spare time. Also, it energizes me during work when I’m tired,” Chang added. She also said that the bursts of exercise are beneficial to her psychological health because they help “release some negative emotions” throughout the day. Others have been sharing their speedy fitness routines online. “Yes, my workout is picking up packages for my boss. When it gets heavy, I think of it as arm training,” one person said. Another said they have a daily sprint to work, “I run 800 meters in three minutes every day to clock in on time. Lately, it feels so easy.” 9. What does the underlined phrase “all the rage” mean in paragraph 1? A. Highly expected. B. Widely popular. C. Extremely typical. D. Commonly arranged. 10. What do we know about the woman mentioned in paragraph 2? A. She abandons working out in a gym. B. She often orders lunch for her colleagues. C. She innovatively exercises during her work day. D. She enjoys doing voluntary work in her community. 11. What is a benefit of a 5-minute quick-charge workout according to Chang? A. It enhances creativity at work. B. It contributes to a peaceful mind. C. It helps improve time management skills. D. It promotes physical and mental well-being. 12. What is the best title for the text? A. Office Workouts Boost Your Mood. B. 5-minute Bodybuilding Saves Time. C. Office Quick-charge Fitness: A Creative Trend. D. Lunch Pack Delivery: A Practical Exercise Approach. Passage 4 (山东省日照市2024-2025学年高二下学期期末校际联合考试英语试题)For years, I had the mindset that if I wasn’t wearing my Fitbit, did the workout really happen? Answer: No. Not only did I rely on my Fitbit to track my exercises, but I chose to invest in this specific SENSE model because of its sleep tracking tech — a must-have for my sleep struggles. For a long time, I refused to remove it from my wrist. But after leaving my beloved little tracker on my nightstand one day, I took it as an opportunity for an experiment: What if I put the e-watch on the shelf for an entire week? Before and during this experiment, I was completing Sculpt It at-home program four times a week. So while the structure and schedule of my training stayed the same, my perception of how much effort I contributed to the workout changed — I actually became more focused. Without my e-watch, I didn’t take my 15-second “breaks” to double-check my heart zones. I even felt less stressed with no daily notifications on my Stress Management Scores. While I continued to struggle with staying asleep throughout the night, without the reminders of how my sleep was scoring, I wasn’t beating myself up for not hitting the average hours of deep sleep. Physically, nothing changed. Truthfully, I didn’t expect it to. I looked the exact same before and after the week-long experiment. Visual body changes will usually take months to notice, and most definitely not one week. Will I go back to using my Fitbit? Without a doubt, yes. But I no longer feel this inescapable need to wear it 24/7. The constant need to check my e-watch for calories burned, hours slept or steps walked was an unhealthy obsession (痴迷) I was blind to previously. I apply the lessons I learned while disconnecting and just let myself breathe. If I realize I forgot my e-watch while I’m on my way to the gym? Guess what? The workout still counts. 13. What caused the author to conduct the Fitbit experiment? A. A volunteering opportunity. B. A fitness challenge. C. An accidental occurrence. D. A routine change. 14. How did the author feel about his sleep during the experiment? A. Upset about irregular sleep schedules. B. Satisfied with deep sleep hours. C. Constantly stressed about sleep scores. D. Less anxious about sleep quality. 15. What does the author imply by saying “The workout still counts” in the last paragraph? A. The e-watch remains an efficient tool. B. Workout proves essential for wellness. C. Workout value isn’t device-determined. D. Digital dependence is a deep-rooted habit. 16. What is a suitable title for the text? A. Fitbit Break: My Week of Freedom B. Gym Training: A Love-Hate Story C. Sweat for Strength: A Personal Experiment D. Wearable Tech: The Next Big Thing Passage 5 (福建省泉州第五中学2024-2025学年高二下学期期末考试英语试卷)As a baby, Jack’s remarkable swimming journey began. At ten months, he already practiced with swim aids. At six, he won his first swimming competition in a group for kids ten-and-under. At seven, he stayed at the pool from nine in the morning till eight hours later. His mother, recognizing his gift, took it as her duty to guide him. 1 By a young age, Jack had been ranked the number one swimmer of the country, a title he held for a record-breaking duration. 2 He played skiing, tennis, soccer, and many more. Sam was a kid who loved to play, and his parents had no particular athletic ambitions for him. It was nearing his teens that he began to focus more on basketball. 3 In his mid-thirties, an age by which many professional basketball players are typically retired, Sam was still in the national basketball team. Top athletes like Jack at the peak of their abilities do spend more time on focused, deliberate practice than their peers. But scientists also find that potential champions typically devote less time to deliberate practice in childhood, but more to “sampling” various activities. 4 In a world that demands people to specialize early, we face a challenge to keep the benefits of diverse experiences and delayed concentration. There’s a need for those with Jack’s early focus. 5 — People who start with many different things and accept various experiences. A. There was no time to waste. B. And it was all going according to plan. C. The growing complexity of the world also calls for more Sams. D. But it didn’t seem to hold back his development in the long run. E. In reality, Sam’s path to success is far more common, yet less told. F. However, Sam showed no interest in swimming as a kid. G. Unlike the swimming talent, Sam’s early years were filled with a variety of sports. Passage 6 (山东省聊城市2024-2025学年高二下学期7月期末英语试题)Millions of people enter later life carrying extra 10 to 15 pounds, the weight they’ve gained after having children, developing joint problems, becoming less active, or making meals the center of their social lives. 6 This question has attracted great attention with weight loss drugs giving people the hope of losing excess pounds. 7 On the one hand, weight gain is associated with the accumulation of fat. And that can have serious negative consequences, contributing to heart disease, diabetes, and a host of other medical conditions. On the other hand, numerous studies suggest that carrying some extra weight can sometimes be protective in later life. 8 And for people who become seriously ill with conditions such as cancers or advanced diseases, that fat can be a source of energy, helping them tolerate demanding therapies. Of course, it depends on how heavy someone is to begin with. For those who are already overweight or mildly obese(肥胖的), putting on extra pounds places them at much greater risk than those with lower weights. 9 Experts are more concerned about a lack of activity in older adults who are overweight or mildly obese than about weight loss. 10 It raises the risk of developing a disability or functional damage that can influence independence. Therefore, for older adults wanting to lose weight, they need to be willing at the same time to increase physical activity. A. See your doctor if you’re losing weight without trying to. B. Should they lose this little extra weight to improve their health? C. And rapid weight gain in later life is always a cause for concern. D. Why is losing a few extra pounds so important for elder people? E. For years, experts have debated what to advise older adults in this situation. F. For people who fall, it can serve as the shock absorber, protecting from breaks. G. With minimal or no activity, muscle mass becomes worse and strength decreases. A 2. B 3. B 4. 根据第五段“The analysis from Mr Almog and his colleagues showed that Hawk-Eye oversight has motivated human judges 8% less mistakes.(Almog先生和他的同事的分析表明,鹰眼监督使人类法官的错误减少了8%。)” 故选A项。 2. 根据第六段“However, when examining serves—especially those landing within 20mm of the line—the error rate surprisingly increased. It turned out judges had switched strategies. Before Hawk-Eye, judges were more likely to incorrectly call a serve out, but afterwards, they tended to let out balls go unchallenged. For every 100 mis-hit serves, post-Hawk-Eye judge left 39 unchallenged, compared to 26 before.(然而,在检查发球时,尤其是那些落在距离球门线20毫米以内的发球时,错误率出乎意料地增加了。事实证明,评委们已经改变了策略。在鹰眼之前,裁判更有可能错误地判罚发球,但之后,他们倾向于让球不受挑战。每100次发球失误,鹰眼队后的裁判就有39次没有受到挑战,而之前是26次。)”可知,鹰眼系统导致更多近线发球未被挑战。故选B项。 3. 推理判断题。 根据第七段 “This shift makes sense; missed faults are less destructive than wrongly calling ‘out,’ which ends the point early and may cause dissent (异议) from players and crowds. It seems that human judges take the less reputationally risky option, even if it leads to more incorrect calls.(这种转变是有道理的;错过的失误比错误地喊‘出局’更具破坏性,后者会提前结束比赛,并可能导致球员和观众的异议。似乎人类法官会选择声誉风险较小的选择,即使这会导致更多的错误判断。)”可知,裁判策略转变是为了降低声誉损失。故选B项。 4. 推理判断题。 根据末段“But Almog warns similar patterns likely occur in medicine and law. These industries must consider the social costs of errors: judges may under-sentence, doctors over-diagnose. The effect of decision-making are far-reaching. (但Almog警告说,医学和法律领域也可能出现类似的模式。这些行业必须考虑错误的社会成本: 法官可能会被判刑,医生可能会过度诊断。决策的影响是深远的。)”可知,AI监督下人类可能为规避风险做出错误决策,暗示盲目信任AI会误导判断。故选D项。 Passage 2 (辽宁省县域重点高中2024-2025学年高二下学期期末英语试卷)The first running boom came in the 1970s and 80s and there was no real diversity: it was all thin, skinny, white guys in very tight shorts. D 6. C 7. C 8. 根据第一段中“The second boom came after Paula Radcliffe broke the world marathon record in 2003, leading to a big jump in women taking up running, before parkrun grew the numbers again.(第二次热潮出现在2003年保拉·拉德克利夫打破世界马拉松纪录之后,女性开始跑步的人数大幅增加,之后公园跑活动又使这一数字再次增长)”可知,第二次跑步热潮始于世界马拉松纪录被打破之后。故选D。 6. 根据第二段中“More than 1.1 million have signed up for the 2026 London Marathon — not only a world record but nearly double the figure from two years ago. The race is also getting younger: more than a third of UK entries are aged from 18 to 29 years old.(超过110万人报名参加2026年伦敦马拉松赛,这不仅创下了世界纪录,而且几乎是两年前数字的两倍。值得注意的是,这是第一次男女比例几乎达到50/50。参赛者也趋于年轻化: 英国参赛者中有超过三分之一的人年龄在18至29岁之间)”可知,第二段通过列举具体的数字来展示跑步运动的蓬勃发展。故选C。 7. 细节理解题。根据第三段中“Last month, for instance, Sport England found that while there were 349,000 more runners in England in 2024 compared to 2023, that rise was almost entirely fueled by women.(例如,上个月,英国体育局发现,与2023年相比,2024年英国的跑步者增加了34.9万人,这一增长几乎完全是由女性推动的)”可知,跑步运动中女性参与者的数量大幅增加。故选C。 8. 根据最后一段中“Part of the rise is because brands have realized that women are willing to spend a lot of money on products that work better and look nicer(这一增长的部分原因是品牌意识到女性愿意在效果更好、外观更漂亮的产品上花很多钱)”及“A research is now showing that running is better than taking a pill to help with depression. Another factor behind the boom is the explosion of running clubs, which bring people together.(一项研究表明,跑步比吃药更能帮助缓解抑郁症。这一热潮背后的另一个因素是跑步俱乐部的激增,它们将人们聚集在一起)”可知,最后一段主要探讨了跑步运动蓬勃发展的原因。故选D。 Passage 3 (山东省济宁市2024-2025学年高二下学期7月期末英语试题)Hard-pressed office workers in China are adding exercise into their work day by jogging with laptops, lifting lunch packs, doing office chair Pilates. B 10. C 11. D 12. 根据画线部分的上文“Hard-pressed office workers in China are adding exercise into their work day by jogging with laptops, lifting lunch packs, doing office chair Pilates. (在中国,压力很大的上班族们在工作中增加了锻炼,比如带着笔记本电脑慢跑、提午餐包、在办公室椅子上做普拉提)”可知,画线部分所在句描述“上班族在工作间隙融入锻炼”做法在中国大陆的情况,结合下文列举多名上班族践行这一做法的例子可知,这一做法应该是“广泛流行”,画线部分意为“广泛流行,很受欢迎”。故选B项。 10. 细节理解题。根据第二段中“The image shows a woman with a lunch delivery bag in one hand and a canvas bag in the other, which she was using in place of dumbbells and lifting them repeatedly while waiting. (图片中,一名女子一手拿着午餐外卖袋,另一只手拿着帆布袋,她用帆布袋代替哑铃,并在等待时反复举起哑铃)”可知,这位女性在工作日创新性地进行锻炼。故选C项。 11. 细节理解题。根据第四段中“Also, it energizes me during work when I’m tired (此外,当我工作累的时候,它还能让我充满活力)”和“She also said that the bursts of exercise are beneficial to her psychological health because they help “release some negative emotions” throughout the day. Wearable Tech: The Next Big Thing 【答案】13. C 14. D 15. C 16. 根据第一段中“But after leaving my beloved little tracker on my nightstand one day, I took it as an opportunity for an experiment: What if I put the e-watch on the shelf for an entire week? (但那天我把心爱的小追踪器忘在床头柜上后,便将此视为一个实验契机: 要是整整一周都不戴这款智能手表会怎样)”可知,实验的起因是作者偶然忘记佩戴Fitbit。故选C项。 14. 细节理解题。根据第三段中“While I continued to struggle with staying asleep throughout the night, without the reminders of how my sleep was scoring, I wasn’t beating myself up for not hitting the average hours of deep sleep. (尽管我依然整夜辗转难眠,但没有了睡眠评分提醒,我不再为达不到深度睡眠的标准时长而苛责自己)”可知,实验期间,作者因不再收到睡眠数据反馈,反而减少了对睡眠质量的焦虑。故选D项。 15. 推理判断题。根据最后一段中“The constant need to check my e-watch for calories burned, hours slept or steps walked was an unhealthy obsession (痴迷) I was blind to previously. I apply the lessons I learned while disconnecting and just let myself breathe. If I realize I forgot my e-watch while I’m on my way to the gym? Guess what? The workout still counts. (以前的我总忍不住查看智能手表: 卡路里消耗、睡眠时长、行走步数,这种执念近乎病态,而当时的我却浑然不觉。如今我正学着践行“断联”的领悟,给自己喘息的空间。就算去健身房的路上发现忘戴表了?你猜怎么着?运动成效依然作数)”可推知,作者强调锻炼的价值不应依赖设备记录,其意义独立于数据追踪。故选C项。 16. 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段中“What if I put the e-watch on the shelf for an entire week (要是整整一周都不戴这款智能手表会怎样)”和最后一段中“But I no longer feel this inescapable need to wear it 24/7. (但现在,我不再觉得必须7天24小时都戴着它不可了)”可知,文章主要讲述了作者通过一周不佩戴Fitbit的实验,意识到过度依赖数据追踪会引发焦虑,并学会重新关注运动本身的意义而非设备反馈。因此,A项“Fitbit暂停记: 我的自由周”突出了“暂时脱离Fitbit”的核心主题及“身心解放”的体验。故选A项。 Passage 5 (福建省泉州第五中学2024-2025学年高二下学期期末考试英语试卷)As a baby, Jack’s remarkable swimming journey began. B 2. G 3. D 4. E 5. 1. 根据上文“His mother, recognizing his gift, took it as her duty to guide him. (他的母亲发现了他的天赋,便将引导他视为己任。)”和下文“By a young age, Jack had been ranked the number one swimmer of the country, a title he held for a record-breaking duration. (杰克年纪轻轻就成为了全国游泳冠军,并且这一头衔保持了创纪录的时间。)”可知,本空要表达母亲认识到杰克的天赋后,如何指导他,以及杰克如何取得全国排名第一的游泳运动员称号。根据下文杰克取得的成绩,可以看出母亲的指导非常有效,一切都在按照计划进行。选项B“And it was all going according to plan. (一切都在按计划进行。)”既呼应了母亲的引导,又引出后续杰克的成功,能承上启下。故选B。 2. 根据下文“He played skiing, tennis, soccer, and many more. Sam was a kid who loved to play, and his parents had no particular athletic ambitions for him. (他玩滑雪、网球、足球等等。山姆是个热爱运动的孩子,他的父母对他没有特别的运动抱负。)”可知,本空需引出“山姆” 这一人物,并与上文杰克专注游泳的经历形成对比,点明山姆早期运动的多样性。选项G“Unlike the swimming talent, Sam’s early years were filled with a variety of sports. (与那位游泳天才不同的是,山姆的早年生活充满了各种各样的运动。)”通过对比杰克,引出山姆的经历,统领本段内容,并引出下文,符合题意。故选G。 3. 根据上文“It was nearing his teens that he began to focus more on basketball. (直到快到十几岁时,他才开始更加专注于篮球。)”和下文“In his mid-thirties, an age by which many professional basketball players are typically retired, Sam was still in the national basketball team. (在山姆三十多岁的时候,这个年龄正是许多职业篮球运动员通常退役的年纪,但他仍然在国家篮球队中。)”可知,此处描述山姆在篮球方面的成就,尽管他少年时没有专注,临近青少年才专注篮球,但这并未阻碍他的长远发展。选项D“But it didn’t seem to hold back his development in the long run. (但从长远来看,这似乎并没有阻碍他的发展。)”恰好说明这个转折和强调,能承接上文,引出下文,符合题意。故选D。 4. 根据上文“Top athletes like Jack at the peak of their abilities do spend more time on focused, deliberate practice than their peers. But scientists also find that potential champions typically devote less time to deliberate practice in childhood, but more to “sampling” various activities. (像杰克这样处于巅峰状态的顶级运动员,确实比同龄人花费更多的时间进行专注、有目的的训练。但科学家们也发现,有潜力的冠军在儿童时期通常投入较少的时间进行有目的的训练,而是更多地“尝试”各种活动。)”可知,科学家发现潜在的冠军通常在童年时花较少时间于刻意练习,而是更多地尝试各种活动。选项E“In reality, the Sam’s path to success is far more common, yet less told. (事实上,山姆的成功之路其实更为普遍,只是鲜为人知。)”指出实际上像山姆这样的成功之路更为普遍,但却较少被提及,是对上文科学研究的总结和升华。故选E。 5. 根据上文“In a world that demands people to specialize early, we face a challenge to keep the benefits of diverse experiences and delayed concentration. There’s a need for those with Jack’s early focus. (在一个要求人们尽早专业化的世界里,我们面临着保持多样化经验和延迟专注力的挑战。对于那些像杰克一样早期就专注于某项技能的人来说,这是必要的。)”和下文“People who start with many different things and accept various experiences. (那些从多方面入手、愿意接受各种经历的人。)”可知,上文已经提到了对于早期专注的需求,那么接下来应该会讲到世界对多样性和延迟专注的需求。选项C“The growing complexity of the world also calls for more Sams. (世界日益复杂,也需要更多的“山姆”。)”能承接上文,引出下文,符合题意。故选C。 Passage 6 (山东省聊城市2024-2025学年高二下学期7月期末英语试题)Millions of people enter later life carrying extra 10 to 15 pounds, the weight they’ve gained after having children, developing joint problems, becoming less active, or making meals the center of their social lives. B 7. E 8. F 9. C 10. 6. 根据上文“Millions of people enter later life carrying extra 10 to 15 pounds, the weight they’ve gained after having children, developing joint problems, becoming less active, or making meals the center of their social lives.(数以百万计的人在步入晚年时体重会增加10到15磅,这是他们在生育子女后所增加的体重,他们可能会出现关节问题,变得不那么活跃,或者把吃饭变成社交活动的核心内容)”以及后文“This question has attracted great attention with weight loss drugs giving people the hope of losing excess pounds.(这个问题引起了广泛关注,因为减肥药物让人们看到了减轻体重的希望)”可知,前文提到许多人晚年体重增加,后文指出减肥药让人们有望减重,此处应衔接一个关于是否应该减重的疑问,故B选项“他们是否应该减轻这少量多余的体重以改善健康状况呢?” 7. 根据后文“On the one hand, weight gain is associated with the accumulation of fat. And that can have serious negative consequences, contributing to heart disease, diabetes, and a host of other medical conditions. On the other hand, numerous studies suggest that carrying some extra weight can sometimes be protective in later life.(一方面,体重增加与脂肪的积累有关。 9. 根据上文“Of course, it depends on how heavy someone is to begin with. For those who are already overweight or mildly obese (肥胖的), putting on extra pounds places them at much greater risk than those with lower weights.(当然,这取决于一个人的初始体重状况。对于那些已经超重或轻度肥胖的人来说,体重的进一步增加会让他们面临比体重较轻的人更大的健康风险)”可知,前文指出对于已经超重或轻度肥胖的人来说,增重风险更大,本句进一步强调了晚年增重的风险,故C选项“并且晚年体重的快速增加总是值得担忧的”符合语境,故选C。 10. 根据上文“Experts are more concerned about a lack of activity in older adults who are overweight or mildly obese than about weight loss.(专家们更担心的是那些体重超标或轻度肥胖的老年人缺乏运动的情况,而非体重的减轻问题)”以及后文“It raises the risk of developing a disability or functional damage that can influence independence. Therefore, for older adults wanting to lose weight, they need to be willing at the same time to increase physical activity.(这会增加患上残疾或出现功能障碍的风险,从而影响其独立性。因此,对于想要减肥的老年人来说,他们需要同时愿意增加体育锻炼量)”可知,前文提到专家更担心超重或轻度肥胖的老年人缺乏活动,本句解释了缺乏活动的危害,与后文“增加残疾或功能损伤风险”呼应,故G选项“在几乎没有或完全没有运动的情况下,肌肉质量会变差,力量也会下降”符合语境,故选G。 Passage 7 (广东省广州市越秀区2024-2025学年高二下学期期末统考英语试题)In every gym class I’ve taken, I felt like an outsider.
