四. Teaching Procedures
Step 1: Warm-up & Lead-in
1. Greet students: "Good morning, class! How are you today?" (Ask 2-3 students to answer: "I’m fine, thank you.")
2. Show a picture of Danny (from the textbook) with a sad face. Ask: "Look at Danny. He looks sad. Why? What’s wrong with him?" (Lead students to guess and introduce the lesson title: "Today we’ll learn Lesson 1: What’s Wrong, Danny?")
Step 2: Presentation
1. Teach key words:
- Use the same way to teach stomach (touch stomach)and learn the new words.
2. Teach core sentences:
- Use the picture of Danny . Teacher acts as Danny, and says: "You look pale." (Repeat 2 times.)
- Teacher asks a student: "What’s wrong with you?" (Help the student answer: "I have a fever.")

- Repeat with other pictures to practice the dialogue:

Step 3: Practice
1. Pair work: "Role-play Time"
- Give each pair a picture card
- Ask them to make a short dialogue with the card. Example:
- Student 1: What’s wrong with you?
- Student 2: I feel sick.
- Student 1: Here’s some water. (Pretend to give water)
- Walk around to help students (e.g., correct pronunciation, remind sentences).
2. Class game: "Guess the Problem"
- The class asks: "What’s wrong with you?" The student answers, and the class guesses the word.

① 作情态动词,后接动词原形。

—No, you needn’t . ( 只用于否定句和疑问句中 )
② 作实义动词
*need sth.
e.g. I need a lot of money to travel.
*need doing ( 表被动 )
e.g. Your car needs mending. 你的车需要维修了。
= Your car needs to be repaired.
*need to do sth. 表示有义务或责任去做某事
e.g. I need to check the paper again.
Step 4: Consolidation & Extension
1. Show a short dialogue on PowerPoint (Danny and his friend):
- Friend: Hi Danny. You look sad. What’s wrong with you?
- Danny: I have a stomachache.
- Friend: Oh no! You need to rest.
- Danny: Thank you.
2. Ask students to read the dialogue together.
Step 5: Summary & Homework
1. Summary:
- Review key words: "Let’s say the words together
- Review sentences: "What’s the question to ask about health? (Students: What’s wrong with you?) What can we say to answer? (Students: I have a ______.)"
2. Homework:
- Tell your parents 2 key words and 1 sentence
- Draw a picture of one health problem and write 1 sentence under it.
