Is Fresh Air Really Good for You?
We all grew up hearing people tell us to “go out and get some fresh air.” 36(E. But is fresh air really as good for you as your mother always said?) According to recent studies, the answer is a big YES, if the air quality in your camping area is good.
_ 37 _ If the air you’re breathing is clean--which it would be if you’re away from the smog of cities--then the air is filled with life-giving, energizing oxygen. If you exercise out of doors, your body will learn to breathe more deeply, allowing even more oxygen to get to your muscles (肌肉) and your brain.
Recently people have begun studying the connection between the natural world and healing (治愈). 38(G. All across the country, recovery centers have begun building Healing Gardens) In these places patients can go to be near nature during their recovery. It turns out that just looking at green, growing things can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and put people into a better mood (情绪). Greenery is good for us. Hospital patients who see tree branches out their window are likely to recover at a faster rate than patients who see buildings or sky instead. 39(C. Being in nature refreshes us.) It gives us a great feeling of peace.
40 While the sun's rays can age and harm our skin, they also give beneficial Vitamin D. To make sure you get enough Vitamin D—but still protect your skin— put on sunscreen right as you head outside. It takes sunscreen about fifteen minutes to start working, and that's plenty of time for your skin to absorb a day's worth of Vitamin D.
A. Fresh air cleans our lungs.
B. So what are you waiting for?
C. Being in nature refreshes us.
D. Another side benefit of getting fresh air is sunlight.
E. But is fresh air really as good for you as your mother always said?
F. Just as importantly, we tend to associate air with health care.
G. All across the country, recovery centers have begun building Healing Gardens.

4 signs your body is begging for a break
If the smoke alarm in your house is beeping, you’ll spring into action. Yet we’re not so fast to react to the alarm bells ringing in our own bodies, letting us know we need to slow down.
“A series of changes happen in the body when the stress response is activated in a sustained way,” says Jennifer King, assistant director of the Center on Trauma and Adversity at Case Western Reserve University. 1 . Here are the signs to watch out for.
Emotional changes
If you need a break, you might feel more anxious, more depressed, or more overwhelmed than usual. Your thoughts might start wandering. And you’ll likely “feel like you can’t remember things,” says Dr. Gerda Maissel, a physician and patient advocate. Stress can also prevent you from enjoying activities you once loved. 2 It’s a hint that something is off.
Tense relationship
“You might notice you’re feeling a little more emotional and bad-tempered” King says. “If you’re finding that you want to isolate a little more, and keep to yourself — if that’s something you weren’t already doing — that can be because of stress.” 3 . Often, other people are the first to notice warning signs.
Stress can weaken the immune system, causing you to get sick more frequently. You might notice you have a cough, a fever or a running nose more often than before.
Stomach and sleep issues
You may also experience digestive difficulties as well as appetite changes that cause you to gain or lose weight. 5
If you realize your body is pushing you toward a break, try claiming just a few minutes of calm with something pleasurable or fun. Taking a brief rest, “allows your body to metabolize some of what you’ve been taking in”, she says, “and to feel ready for whatever is coming next.”
A.Frequent colds
B.Physical weaknesses
C.You are not fond of anything shared by your friends
D.You dislike opening a book you’ve been looking forward to
E.Feeling more tired than usual is pretty likely a cue you need more rest
F.If a familiar one cares about your mood, try not to get defensive or ignore it
G.Over time, that can cause high blood pressure, heart disease, and weight gain
April 22 is International Earth Day, a date that stresses the importance of rethinking our relationship with natural resources. With so much over-consumption and environmental damage, tourism also needs to be rethought. According to the World Travel and Tourism Council, the tourism industry is responsible for around 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions. 1 . It is in this context that sustainable ecotourism stands out. Here are four positive impacts of ecotourism:
Ecotourism encourages the preservation of natural areas by generating economic value associated with conservation. Destinations that previously faced deforestation, hunting and illegal mining now see the protection of biodiversity as an ongoing and legitimate source of income.
Strengthening local communities through inclusive employment
By employing guides, small producers and owners of family-run inns, ecotourism distributes income to many different people. 3
Offering environmental education via immersive experiences
4 . Visitors get to know the environmental challenges of each region and return home more aware of their role as citizens.
Reconnecting with the planet by embracing mindful trips
More than just a style of travel, ecotourism invites us to change our mentality: to get out of the consumption mode and into a more attentive rhythm, more sensitive to the rhythms of the earth.
To sum up, this type of tourism invites reconnection. 5 . In times of climate emergency, water scarcity and accelerated degradation of ecosystems, this reconnection is no longer an individual choice. It is a collective need, urgent and unavoidable.
A.Conserving biodiversity via economic benefits
B.This model helps people stay in their local areas
C.Boosting local economy through tourist activities
D.Ecotourism trips bring magical benefits to the planet
E.However, tourism, if well planned, can be part of the solution
F.This reconnection, in practice, bridges people with nature and cultural roots
G.Ecotourism trips offer direct learning experiences with nature and local knowledge
Could Eating Jellyfish Be Sustainable?
Like giant sharks in films, jellyfish poses a major threat in real life — to kill people with their stings (叮咬). And the potential danger they cause doesn’t stop there. 1 . A research is even on whether box jellyfish could ultimately destroy our oceans — so could eating them be a possible solution?
● 2 ?标题句
Some people argue that due to their reproductive cycle, jellyfish are actually a sustainable food source. Removing a jellyfish from the ocean doesn’t stop new ones being born. This is because they are spawned (使大量产生) from polyps (水螅体)on the seabed. In some ways, you can compare them to apples. 3 .
●What about their nutritional value?
Jellyfish contain 36 calories per ounce, which equals iceberg lettuce (莴苣). However, it is full of protein, making it potentially a great diet food. 4 , particularly in Asia, they are already consumed, often raw, fried or chopped up as part of a salad.
●But what do they taste like?
5 , others describe them as having a salty taste. This could be due to their absorbent nature, which also leads them to being often served in a sauce. As for the texture, some people negatively compare the experience to eating gristle (软骨).
They might not be the tastiest thing you’ve ever eaten, but it beats fleeing the sea to avoid being stung. So the next time you want something fresh, look at jellyfish as a sustainable alternative.
A.What is needed to cook them?
B.How is their ability to reproduce?
C.While some say they are flavourless
D.It is easy for the fishermen to catch them.
E.And indeed, in many parts of the world
F.They are reported to attack fish farms, shut down power stations etc.
G.When you take an apple from a tree, the tree still goes on to produce more apples

As an artist who shares her journey on social media, I’m often asked by curious followers how to begin an art journey. Unfortunately, there is no magic list I can offer. I do remember, though, what it was like to be a complete beginner. So I’ve put together some good tips for starting an art journey.
▪Start small. I suggest using a sketchbook (素描本) for small studies. These small studies provide inspiration and may be a springboard for more complex works in the future. 36 You’ll want to look back on your journey to see how far you’ve come.
▪Paint often and paint from life. There’s no better way to improve than to put in those brush miles. Whether you paint still lifes, portraits, or landscapes, paint from life as much as possible. 37
▪Continually challenge yourself to try something new. 38 Artistic growth can be a bit painful. Welcome to the club;we’ve all been there. I love taking on challenges. I once took up a challenge to create a painting every day for a month and post the works online.
▪ 39 标题句 Seeking and accepting constructive feedback (反馈) is crucial to growth. I post my work on social media and, in turn, have met some of the kindest people. They make me feel valued and respected, no matter my level of artistic ability.
The journey you’re on won’t follow a straight path. 40 Push through, give it time and put in the effort. You will harvest the rewards of an artistic life.
A. Get out of your comfort zone.
B. Make career plans and set goals.
C. Don’t throw away your beginner art.
D. Share your work if you feel comfortable doing so.
E. You’ll hit roadblocks, and you’ll feel discouraged at times.
F. Evaluate your performance and, if needed, redefine your role.
G. You’ll develop that painting muscle memory that only comes with repetition.
Writing an essay is a difficult process for most people. However, the process can be made easier if you learn to practice three simple techniques.
When you are first trying to think of ideas for an essay, put your pen to your paper and write nonstop for ten or fifteen minutes without letting your pen leave the paper. Stay loose and free. 37 Don’t worry about grammar or spelling. Even though this technique won’t work for everyone, it helps many people get a good store of ideas to draw on.
The next technique is to write your draft rapidly without worrying about being perfect. 38 Yet, by learning to live with imperfection, you will save yourself headaches and a wastepaper basket full of crumpled (弄皱) paper. Think of your first draft as a path cut out of the jungle—as part of an exploration, not as a complete highway.
The third technique is to try printing out a triple—spaced (三倍行距) copy to allow space for revision. 39 As a result, these writers never get in the habit of crossing out chunks (大块) of their draft and writing revisions in the blank space. After you have revised your draft until it is too messy to work from anymore, you can enter your changes into your word processor. 40 The resulting blank space invites you to revise.
A. Make sure your handwriting is neat.
B. Let your pen follow the waves of thought.
C. The second draft of the essay should be better.
D. First of all, learn the technique of nonstop writing.
E. Too many writers try to get their drafts right the first time.
F. Many beginning writers don’t leave enough space to revise.
G. Then you can print out a fresh draft, again setting your text on triple-space.

Swap, Don’t shop!
You keep hearing about recycling, right? But it doesn't end with bottles, cans, and paper. Clothing takes a huge amount of natural resources(资源)to make, and buying loads of new clothing (or throwing out old clothing) is not healthy for the environment. So what to do with all those perfectly-good-but-you're-maybe-a-little-sick-of-them clothes piled on your bedroom floor? 36 . It's the best way to get rid of your used clothes, score clothes from your friends, and have a party all at the same time.
A successful swap depends on the selection of clothes, the organization of the event, and, obviously, how much fun is had. It's really easy to do! Here are a few pointers.
●Invite 5—10 people so you have a nice selection. 37 , and there may not be enough things to choose from; more than that, and it becomes uncontrollable.
They should also prepare plenty of reusable bags to carry their "new" clothes home.
●Put different types of clothing on different surfaces in the room. 39 . Place a few mirrors around your room so people can see how things look when they try them on. One of the ground rules of the swap should be that everyone must try on the clothes before they take them—things always look different when you put them on.
●Set a starting time. Maybe you say “go,” or turn on a certain song, or whatever. 40 . And don't forget to put out some cookies and fruits. Remember, it's a party!
A. Less people than that
B. Hold a clothing swap
C. If two people are competing
D. Just keep music playing throughout
E. Donate whatever clothes are left over
F. Have everyone put their clothes in the right spots
G. Tell everyone to bring clean clothes in good condition

How to Make Your Volunteering Experience Meaningful
Volunteering is a wonderful way to give back to the community and make a difference in the lives of others. However, not all volunteering experiences are equally rewarding. 1
Choose the Right Opportunity
The first step to a meaningful volunteering experience is to find an opportunity that matches your interests, skills, and values. 2 For example, if you love working with children, volunteering at a local school or afterschool program might be a good fit. When you are passionate about the work, you’ll be more motivated and engaged.
Before starting your volunteer work, take some time to think about what you want to achieve. You might ask yourself what you hope to gain personally and what you want to contribute. It could be learning a new skill, meeting people from different backgrounds, or making a specific impact on the community. Having clear goals will help you stay focused and measure your progress.
Be Consistent and Committed
Volunteering occasionally can be helpful, but showing up regularly and being committed to the work can lead to a deeper connection with the organization and the people you serve. 4 Consistency also allows you to build trust and make a more lasting impact.
Reflect on Your Experience
Take time to reflect on your volunteering experience. Think about what you’ve learned, how you’ve grown, and the impact you’ve made. 5 Writing in a journal or talking to other volunteers about your thoughts can help you process your experience and appreciate the value of your work.
A.Stay Focused.
B.Set Clear Goals.
C.This will make the experience more enjoyable and fulfilling.

Do you remember when someone would be cruel to you at school and you would come home crying? Your parents probably told you that “what they think doesn’t matter — it’s what you think that counts.” 1 How can you be happy if you don’t like who you are? Here are some ways to change your self-perception and boost your happiness.
Identify what matters to you.
First, ask yourself what’s important to you. We all have traits (特点) we value and talents we pride ourselves on. 2 If creativity and art are your strengths, emphasize them. It shouldn’t matter if you lack confidence or are overweight as long as you have something to be proud of. Finding your purpose makes minor issues seem less significant.
Your current self is a stepping stone to becoming who you want to be. For instance, if you’re unhappy with your career, think about a job that would make you happy and how to achieve it. Remember, many successful people didn’t achieve greatness until later in life; it’s never too late to pursue your dreams. 4
List your positive traits and achievements.
Before aiming for self-improvement, recognize your virtues. Sit down and write ten things you like about yourself and ten achievements you’re proud of. Everyone can come up with at least ten items.
Find role models.
5 To overcome this, find role models who share similar traits but succeed despite challenges. Seeing how others maximize their strengths can inspire you to do the same, boosting your self-respect.
By focusing on what truly matters, you can improve your self-respect and overall happiness.
A.Focus on these positive aspects.
B.Acknowledge you can change and grow.
C.But what if the criticism comes from within?
D.The journey itself matters more than the destination.
E.How do you go about changing the way you feel about others?
F.Reflect on your friends and family members who love you for who you are.
G.We often compare ourselves unfavourably to others, especially those in the media.

Upon reflection of the ideal social moral code (准则) within one sentence, it would be: be constructive (建设性的), not destructive (毁坏性的). 1 Sometimes it is difficult to determine if an act is exactly constructive or destructive.
One problem is that a behaviour can be both constructive and destructive to different degrees. 2 You get a thought in your mind to spank (打屁股) him as a punishment. However, you start to feel confused. It might show him that not listening to you and breaking things is not welcome, but on the other hand, spanking him will hurt him physically and perhaps teach him to use force in situations later in life. 3 However, through your own reasoning, you can decide to what degree it would be beneficial or harmful to him and the situation at hand.
For example, for some people, construction can never involve violence, while for others, it could even be an unavoidable part. Take the example of killing Hitler. Killing someone is definitely termed a destructive act. However, in light of the circumstances, I would assume that the majority of people would agree that killing Hitler would be seen as a constructive act. Therefore, our definitions often determine our values.
Additionally, construction can be seen as good to some, and bad to others. What a majority might take as a constructive might be seen as destructive to a minority. Is there a way to determine which side is correct? It is almost impossible. 5 Many examples in history have proved this.
Though I consider “Be constructive, not destructive” the most solid one-sentence social moral code, it is not without its challenges. However, I cannot imagine a better code in a social context.
A.It is a handy and universal policy.
B.Though it sounds sensible, there are many troubles.
C.There is no exact wrong or right in these moments.
D.Other times it is difficult to disagree with the majority.
E.Being in the majority does not mean it is correct, or more proper.
F.Say your son broke a glass vase after being warned several times.
G.Another trouble to consider is the definition we give to construction and destruction.

The Rise of “China-chic”
Over past years, guochao, or “China-chic” has been gaining popularity among Chinese consumers. Guochao conveys the cultural heritage and values of China. 1 . “China-chic” is rising, but what is it?
The idea of guochao was first borrowed from some international brands, and began to win over Chinese consumers in 2015. 2 . In 2018, Chinese sportswear brand Li-Ning presented its Wu Dao (the principles of Taoism) collection at the New York Fashion Week. It featured bright red color and Chinese characters. More brands have since followed, heralding (预示) the early period of guochao.
This was a period when applications of big data, cloud computing, the Internet of things, and 5G technology hit the market one after another. Domestic tech companies such as Huawei, Xiaomi, and DJI made headlines.
In its third stage, guochao became more common in everyday life. Over the past decade, guochao has expanded from consumer goods to experiential products. As consumers are showing greater interest in cultural identity and creativity, productions like the TV program National Treasure, and the dance show Night Banquet in Tang Dynasty Palace integrate cultural and historical elements with the latest audio-visual technologies. 4 .
Nowadays, guochao is moving to the next stage. No matter how the trend evolves, Chinese people’s positive attitude toward the country’s development and their recognition of and growing confidence in national culture won’t change. 5 . Seen from a broader perspective, guochao mirrors the rise of China, a country eager to make its presence felt globally. Guochao is a style, but more importantly, it transmits culture and values.
A.The trend grew in the following years
B.They give the viewers a totally new experience
C.The next stage saw the rise of China’s native fashion trends
D.It also expresses national pride and confidence in a new era
E.The second period of guochao mainly features hi-tech sectors
F.Its success will rely first and foremost on gaining cultural confidence
G.The concept of “Made in China” was recognized as the representation of Chinese culture

While long distance friendships might require some planning and creativity to keep up, there’s no reason to let physical distance keep you from staying connected. 1 .
Be clear and intentional about keeping your long distance friends
Whether you’ve just moved away from your friends or you’ve been apart for years, long distance friendships require a two-way commitment. That means reaching out, finding time to hang out and showing your friends you value them. 2 . Remember that they value you, too.
Use common interests to feel connected
Develop an “anchor” for your friendship. An anchor is something that you have in common that acts as a trigger to reach out to each other. Maybe you both love cooking, so you each send photos of the new dishes you make with a link to the recipe. Or you both love, let’s say, the HBO show Euphoria, and you text to discuss after each episode comes out. 3 .
If you feel like your communication is difficult because of distance, your friends probably feel that way too, so don’t be afraid to be the first one to reach out. When phone calls won’t cut it, think about a visit. Visiting is one of the most important things we can do to keep a long distance friendship going.
Address conflicts openly
5 . There’s just a limited amount of time you get with your friends, so it’s easy to let conflicts go unaddressed. Try not to sweep things under the rug. In fact, addressing conflict is one of the ways you can become closer with your friends.
A.But it’s all worth it
B.And it goes both ways
C.Don’t hesitate to reach out
D.Make every effort to make it count
E.Separation is hard, and miscommunication happens
F.Here are some effective ways to maintain such friendships
G.It doesn’t really matter what it is, as long as it helps you initiate a connection

Have you had trouble concentrating on tasks or getting things done? Here are four helpful ways to improve your focus and help you reach the finish line.
Take a deep breath
1 . When you’re stressed, your attention narrows. The fight-or-flight response starts working. Your heart beats a little faster, and you might get a little sweaty because you’re anxious. So if something requires your full attention, take a breath and calm your body down. It is your body’s response to that stress that’s causing the limitation in attention.
Allow your mind to wander
If you are finding it hard to focus, take a break and allow your mind to wander into what’s called the default mode (默认模式) network. 2 . It’s the place where our minds find innovation and creativity and often make better decisions than the focused mind. Get yourself there with something called positive constructive daydreaming. Try traveling with your mind to someplace enjoyable — maybe it’s a walk through an imaginary forest or sunbathing on a warm, sandy beach. Free your mind for about 20 minutes of this fun and watch what happens.
You should set some limitations if you often find yourself wasting time on social media, and it’s making you feel stressed and ashamed. Try turning off push notifications (推送通知) and removing social media apps from your phone to create natural obstacles to accessing them. 4 .
Remember your time is precious
Think about all the people and things you consider most important — your friends and your hobbies. 5 . Are the lists the same? Do you keep putting off learning to play a new song because social media won’t stop drawing your attention? If you’re just giving away the only precious thing you have, make sure you spend it wisely.
A.This is where magic happens
B.Pick what you currently have
C.Stress can affect your ability to focus
D.Get rid of what takes your attention away
E.If they’re not enough, use some tools to help you
F.Only in this way can you fix your mind on something creative
G.Then think about who and what you actually spend your time on

Rivers are important to the well-being of both wildlife and people. Every year, rivers get smaller as communities take away water that can’t put back by rain, and the situation gets worse due to climate change. 1
Reduce your water use.
One easy way to save water is to collect unused water for other purposes. A lot of wasted water comes from showers, air conditioners (空调) and similar sources. 2 For example, place a few boxes to gather it, then use it again to water your plants or grassland.
Select biodegradable (可生物降解的) cleaning products. Any chemicals you use end up back in the water supply. Choose natural soaps (肥皂) or create your own cleaning products made from natural materials. These products have the added advantage of causing far less pollution if they reach a river.
Get involved in river protection groups.
Do a quick search for “river protection groups” online. 4 Then you can volunteer for a river clean-up project, like removing rubbish from waterways. If you don’t have time to clean the river, you can make some donations to the group, too. Eventually, your donations will help the group stay active.
Report any river pollution you see.
5 You can tell others any issues you see when you’re down by the water. When you see something wrong, you can call a river protection group and tell them. You can also call the Ministry of Ecology and Environment in your area to report the issues.
No matter how small these actions may seem, they do help to reduce pressure on the rivers and create a more harmonious future. Let’s get started to protect our rivers right now.
A.Serve as a river keeper.
B.Use river-friendly products.
C.Spread protection news online.
D.You can consider joining the group.
E.You can offer others a few polite and useful tips.
F.You can often collect this water and repurpose it.
G.Fortunately, you can do your part to save the rivers.

We’ve been spending a lot of time indoors because of COVID-19, but could we make our homes healthier?
Open your windows
1 Pollutants include mould, building materials and products you use around the home. Fine particles can get into the lungs, bloodstream and organs. Poor indoor air quality has been linked to asthma, COPD and even lung cancer. Keep your home ventilated as often and for as long as possible.
When you come in from the outside, you’re tramping all sorts of dirt into your inner sanctum. Beyond the ubiquitous dog mess and chewing gum, your footwear can also carry unhealthy dust from traffic fumes, oils and other harmful chemicals. Keep your slippers by the front door.
Get rid of carpets
They harbour germs and pollutants, from dust mites to pet dander to pesticides, catching anything that’s floating in the air in your home — even when you’re particular about vacuum cleaning. The materials used to make synthetic (人造的) carpets and the compounds they emit add to indoor pollution, triggering or aggravating allergic reactions, respiratory and heart problems. 3
Beware of fat-pack furniture
MDF in shelving and modern furniture often contains formaldehyde, a volatile organic compound (VOC) classed as a carcinogen (致癌物). 4 Whether cancer-causing or not, formaldehyde has reportedly been linked with itchy eyes, sore throats, headaches and runny noses. To avoid your building becoming sick because of MDF, opt for solid wood.
Cut out candles
Reduce indoor pollution by forgoing scented candles and air fresheners. These release chemicals which turn into our old friend — formaldehyde — when they reach the air. 5
A.Take off your shoes
B.Consider wood flooring, linoleum or tiles.
C.Remove some useless furniture
D.Candles also give off soot, which, again, is not good for our lungs.
E.The air circulating indoors is up to five times more polluted than what’s wafting around outside.
F.Solid wood is available for every home.
G.It’s found in the resin that binds the wood dust and scrap together.

Sometimes it is really the little things that make life beautiful!
You don’t have to buy a Toyota, get a promotion, win the lottery (彩票), or do any other TV-approved thing to have a reason to jump for joy. Simply being alive is an excellent reason to give a little leap. Click your heels together, and maybe even give a little yell. 2 ? Pretend you are. This is one of those things that pretending it may actually help you feel it for real.
A pink sunrise
When was the last time you really watched the sunrise? No, we don’t mean when was the last time you were awake at dawn, hurrying through your morning routine so you wouldn’t be late. We mean sitting down and watching the sun peek over the horizon, changing the sky to bright shades of orange, pink, red and purple. 3 .
A morning stretch
4 ? Check your phone, if you’re like most people. Instead, try taking a deep breath and doing a full-body stretch. It just feels so good. Wiggle your fingers and toes. Spread your ribs. Lengthen your neck. Feel every part of you wake up. And then check your phone if you must.

下文“Anniversaries and birthdays carry even more weight in long-distance friendships.”(周年纪念日和生日对于异地友谊而言是非常重要的。)
Remember important dates = Anniversaries and birthdays carry even more weight. 故选A。

C选项“Volunteering has a lifelong effect on kids and teenagers. (志愿活动对儿童和青少年有终身影响)”中的“lifelong effect”对应“affect teen’s well-being in the years to come”,“on kids and teenagers”覆盖段落讨论的年龄群体,符合段落主旨。
根据下一句中提到的“If the air you’re breathing is clean…the air is filled with life-giving, energizing oxygen”可知,新鲜空气充满赋予人生命的,充满活力的氧气。再根据下文中“…breathe more deeply, allowing more oxygen to get to your muscles and your brain”是对前文的递进,在户外,更多的氧气进入你的肌肉和大脑。
根据下文中提到的“the sun’s rays…give us beneficial Vitamin D”可知,该段介绍阳光的好处。

【答案】1.G 2.D 3.F 4.A 5.E
1.上文“A series of changes happen in the body when the stress response is activated in a sustained way (当应激反应持续被激活时,身体会发生一系列变化)”提到应激反应持续激活时身体会有变化。G选项“Over time, that can cause high blood pressure, heart disease, and weight gain (随着时间的推移,这会导致高血压、心脏病和体重增加)”进一步说明持续应激反应带来的后果,“that”指代上文提到的情况,上下文逻辑连贯。故选G项。
2.上文“Stress can also prevent you from enjoying activities you once loved. D选项“You dislike opening a book you’ve been looking forward to (你不想打开一本你一直期待读的书)”举例说明压力下对曾经期待的事也失去兴趣,与上文逻辑一致。故选D项。
3.下文“Often, other people are the first to notice warning signs. 指出,通常其他人会先注意到压力带来的问题,解释了F选项“If a familiar one cares about your mood, try not to get defensive or ignore it (如果一个熟悉的人关心你的情绪,尽量不要抵触或忽视)”中建议“不要抵触或忽视”的原因,因为别人已经发现了问题,与上文逻辑连贯。故选F项。
4.下文“Stress can weaken the immune system, causing you to get sick more frequently. You might notice you have a cough, a fever or a running nose more often than before. 故选A项。
5.上文“You may also experience digestive difficulties as well as appetite changes that cause you to gain or lose weight. 提到肠胃问题,如消化困难、食欲改变导致体重变化等,E选项“Feeling more tired than usual is pretty likely a cue you need more rest (比平时更疲惫很可能是你需要更多休息的信号)”提出身体出现的疲劳状况,是睡眠的问题,与上文一起,照应小标题“Stomach and sleep issues (胃和睡眠问题)”中两个主题。故选E项。

【答案】1.E 2.A 3.B 4.G 5.F
1.由上文“According to the World Travel and Tourism Council, the tourism industry is responsible for around 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions. (根据世界旅游和旅游理事会的数据,旅游业约占全球温室气体排放量的8%)”及下文“It is in this context that sustainable ecotourism stands out. Here are four positive impacts of ecotourism: E选项“However, tourism, if well planned, can be part of the solution (然而,如果规划得当,旅游业可以成为解决方案的一部分)”能承上启下,符合题意。故选E。
2.由下文“Ecotourism encourages the preservation of natural areas by generating economic value associated with conservation. Destinations that previously faced deforestation, hunting and illegal mining now see the protection of biodiversity as an ongoing and legitimate source of income. 故选A。
3.由上文“By employing guides, small producers and owners of family-run inns, ecotourism distributes income to many different people. B选项“This model helps people stay in their local areas (这种模式帮助人们留在当地)”能承接上文,符合题意。

5.由上文“To sum up, this type of tourism invites reconnection. (总之,这种类型的旅游邀请人们重新建立联系)”及下文“In times of climate emergency, water scarcity and accelerated degradation of ecosystems, this reconnection is no longer an individual choice. It is a collective need, urgent and unavoidable. F选项“This reconnection, in practice, bridges people with nature and cultural roots (实际上,这种重新连接将人们与自然和文化根源联系起来)”能承上启下,符合题意。
1.根据前文“Like giant sharks in films, jellyfish poses a major threat in real life — to kill people with their stings (叮咬). And the potential danger they cause doesn’t stop there. F选项 “They are reported to attack fish farms, shut down power stations etc.
根据下文“Some people argue that due to their reproductive cycle, jellyfish are actually a sustainable food source. Removing a jellyfish from the ocean doesn’t stop new ones being born. This is because they are spawned (使大量产生) from polyps (水螅体) on the seabed. B 选项“How is their ability to reproduce?
3.根据前文“In some ways, you can compare them to apples. G选项“When you take an apple from a tree, the tree still goes on to produce more apples.
4.根据后文“particularly in Asia, they are already consumed, often raw, fried or chopped up as part of a salad. E选项“And indeed, in many parts of the world (事实上,在世界许多地方)”能够引出在世界各地(包括亚洲)水母被食用的情况,与“particularly in Asia”形成递进关系,说明水母在多地被食用的现状,符合逻辑。故选E项。
5.根据小标题“But what do they taste like? 询问水母的味道,以及后文“others describe them as having a salty taste (其他人说它们有咸味。)” C选项“While some say they are flavourless (有些人说它们没有味道。)”中 “some”与“others”呼应,构成“some...others...”

C37. G38. A39. D40. E
I suggest using a sketchbook (素描本) for small studies. These small studies provide inspiration and may be a springboard for more complex works in the future. 这些小的学习和实践可以提供灵感,并成为未来更复杂的作品的跳板)”以及后文“You’ll want to look back on your journey to see how far you’ve come.
37.分析设空处,位于段尾,是对本段的总结,根据前文“Paint often and paint from life. There’s no better way to improve than to put in those brush miles. Whether you paint still lifes, portraits, or landscapes, paint from life as much as possible. 无论你是绘制静物、肖像还是风景,都要尽可能地从真实生活中去观察和绘制)”可知,本段主要讲述不断练习绘画,所以G项“You’ll develop that painting muscle memory that only comes with repetition.
(不断挑战自己,尝试新事物)”以及后文“Artistic growth can be a bit painful. (艺术的成长可能会有点痛苦)”可知,A项“Get out of your comfort zone. 故选A项。
39.分析设空处,位于段首,是本段的中心句,根据后文“Seeking and accepting constructive feedback (反馈) is crucial to growth. I post my work on social media and, in turn, have met some of the kindest people. They make me feel valued and respected, no matter my level of artistic ability. 无论我的艺术水平如何,他们都让我感到受到了重视和尊重)”可知,本段主要讲述了是分享自己的作品,所以D项“Share your work if you feel comfortable doing so.
40.分析设空处,空处位于第二句,此处应是对前一句的进一步解释,并同时引出后文,根据前文“The journey you’re on won’t follow a straight path. (你的旅程不会是一条笔直的道路)”以及后文“Push through, give it time and put in the effort. You will harvest the rewards of an artistic life. 你将收获艺术生活的回报)”可知,E项“You’ll hit roadblocks, and you’ll feel discouraged at times.
D 37. B 38. E 39. F 40. G
36. D。空格处是本段的主题句,由空后的“When you are first trying to think of ideas for an essay, put your pen to your paper and write nonstop for ten or fifteen minutes without letting your pen leave the paper.(当你第一次想写一篇文章的时候,把笔放在纸上,不间断地写10到15分钟,不要让笔离开纸。)”可知,本段主要讲的是要学会不间断地写,D选项“First of all, learn the technique of nonstop writing.(首先,学习不间断写作的技巧。)”
,空后说“Don’t worry about grammar or spelling.(不要担心语法和拼写。)”,因此空格处应说按心里想的写,自由发挥,B选项“Let your pen follow the waves of thought.(让你的笔跟随思想的波浪。)”
38. E。空前说“The next technique is to write your draft rapidly without worrying about being perfect.(下一个技巧是快速写草稿,不要担心是否完美。)”,空后说“Yet, by learning to live with imperfection, you will save yourself headaches and a wastepaper basket full of crumpled (弄皱) paper.(然而,通过学习与不完美共存,你将避免自己的头痛和一个装满皱巴巴的废纸篓。)”,E选项“Too many writers try to get their drafts right the first time.(太多的作家试图在第一次就把草稿写好。)”
39. F。空前说“The third technique is to try printing out a triple—spaced (三倍行距) copy to allow space for revision.(第三种方法是打印出三倍行距的副本,以便有修改的空间。)”
40. G。空前说“After you have revised your draft until it is too messy to work from anymore, you can enter your changes into your word processor.(当你修改你的草稿,直到它太乱以至于无法继续工作,你可以把你的修改输入到你的文字处理器中。)”,空后说“The resulting blank space invites you to revise.(由此产生的空白允许您修改。)”,因此空格处应说输入到文字处理器后应该做什么,G选项“Then you can print out a fresh draft, again setting your text on triple-space.(然后你可以打印一份新的草稿,同样将文本设置为三倍行距。)”

36. B。根据上文“So what to do with all those perfectly- good-but-you 're- maybe-little-sick-of-them clothes piled on your bedroom floor?(那么,该如何处理那些堆在卧室地板上的(看起来)完好但你可能有点厌倦的衣服呢?)” 下文“It's the best way to get rid of your used clothes, score clothes from your friends, and have a party all at the same time.(这是扔掉旧衣服、从朋友那里买衣服、同时开派对的最好方法。)” B项“Hold a clothing swap.(进行衣物交换。)”
37. A。根据上文“Invite 5-10 people so you have a nice selection.”(邀请5到10个人,这样你就有一个很好的选择。) 下文“and there may not be enough things to choose from; more than that, and it becomes uncontrollable.”(可能没有足够的东西可供选择;多于这个数量,它就变得无法控制。) A项“Less people than that”(少于这些人)提出一种假设,和下文中“more than that”相对,说明人数不宜太多,也不能太少。
38. G。根据下文“They should also prepare plenty of reusable bags to carry their “new” clothes home.”(他们还应该准备大量的可重复使用的袋子,把他们的“新”衣服带回家。) G项“Tell everyone to bring clean clothes in good condition.”(告诉每个人带来品相完好的衣服。)
39. F。根据上文“Put different types of clothing on different surfaces in the room.”(把不同类型的衣服放在房间的不同地方。) 下文“Place a few mirrors around your room so people can see how things look when they try them on.”(在房间周围放几面镜子,这样人们试穿时就能看到衣服的样子。) F项“Have everyone put their clothes in the right spots.(让每个人的衣服都放在相应的位置上。)”
40. D。上文“Set a starting time. Maybe you say “go,” or turn on a certain song, or whatever.”(设置开始时间。 下文“And don't forget to put out some cookies and fruits. Remember, it's a party!”(别忘了拿出一些饼干和水果。 D项“Just keep music playing throughout.”(要始终播放音乐。)

Reflect on Your Experience

1.根据上文“Volunteering is a wonderful way to give back to the community and make a difference in the lives of others. However, not all volunteering experiences are equally rewarding.(志愿服务是回馈社区、改变他人生活的绝佳方式。
根据下文“Before starting your volunteer work, take some time to think about what you want to achieve. You might ask yourself what you hope to gain personally and what you want to contribute. It could be learning a new skill, meeting people from different backgrounds, or making a specific impact on the community. Having clear goals will help you stay focused and measure your progress.(在开始志愿工作之前,花些时间思考你想要实现的目标。
4.根据上文“Volunteering occasionally can be helpful, but showing up regularly and being committed to the work can lead to a deeper connection with the organization and the people you serve.(偶尔做志愿服务会有帮助,但定期参与并全身心投入工作能让你与组织以及你服务的人建立更深厚的联系)”可知,定期做志愿者有好处,E选项“随着时间的推移,你会看到成果并产生成就感”进一步说明定期且全身心投入志愿工作带来的积极结果,与上文内容相呼应,符合语境,故选E项。
5.根据上文“Take time to reflect on your volunteering experience. Think about what you’ve learned, how you’ve grown, and the impact you’ve made.(花时间反思你的志愿服务经历。

【答案】1.C 2.A 3.B 4.D 5.G
1.根据前文“Do you remember when someone would be cruel to you at school and you would come home crying? Your parents probably told you that “what they think doesn’t matter — it’s what you think that counts.” 提到别人对你残忍时父母的安慰话语,以及后文“How can you be happy if you don’t like who you are?(如果你不喜欢你自己,你怎么能快乐呢?)”说如果不喜欢自己怎么能快乐呢,C选项“But what if the criticism comes from within?( 但如果批评来自内心呢?)”
2.根据前文“We all have traits we value and talents we pride ourselves on.( 我们都有自己珍视的特质和引以为傲的才能。)” A项“Focus on these positive aspects.(关注这些积极的方面。)” 故选A项。
3.根据后文“Your current self is a stepping stone to becoming who you want to be.(你现在的自己是成为你想成为的人的垫脚石。)” B项“Acknowledge you can change and grow.(承认你可以改变和成长。)”
4.根据前文“Remember, many successful people didn’t achieve greatness until later in life; it’s never too late to pursue your dreams.(记住,许多成功人士直到较晚的时候才取得伟大成就;追求你的梦想永远不会太晚。)” D项“The journey itself matters more than the destination.(旅程本身比目的地更重要。)”
5.根据后文“To overcome this, find role models who share similar traits but succeed despite challenges.( 为了克服这一点,寻找具有相似特征但在挑战中成功的榜样。)” G项“We often compare ourselves unfavourably to others, especially those in the media.(我们经常拿自己和别人作不利的比叫,尤其是和媒体中的人比。)”

1.根据前文“Upon reflection of the ideal social moral code (准则) within one sentence, it would be: be constructive (建设性的), not destructive (毁坏性的). 以及后文“Sometimes it is difficult to determine if an act is exactly constructive or destructive.
2.根据前文“One problem is that a behaviour can be both constructive and destructive to different degrees. 以及后文“You get a thought in your mind to spank (打屁股) him as a punishment. However, you start to feel confused. It might show him that not listening to you and breaking things is not welcome, but on the other hand, spanking him will hurt him physically and perhaps teach him to use force in situations later in life. 可知,前文提出本段主题,后面在举例详细说明,但是没给出孩子犯了什么错,所以空处应是孩子犯了什么错,F项“Say your son broke a glass vase after being warned several times.
3.根据前文“You get a thought in your mind to spank (打屁股) him as a punishment. However, you start to feel confused. It might show him that not listening to you and breaking things is not welcome, but on the other hand, spanking him will hurt him physically and perhaps teach him to use force in situations later in life. 可知,C项“There is no exact wrong or right in these moments. 是对前文例子的总结,且和后文“However, through your own reasoning, you can decide to what degree it would be beneficial or harmful to him and the situation at hand.
4.分析设空,位于段首,为本段中心句,根据后文“For example, for some people, construction can never involve violence, while for others, it could even be an unavoidable part. Take the example of killing Hitler. Killing someone is definitely termed a destructive act. However, in light of the circumstances, I would assume that the majority of people would agree that killing Hitler would be seen as a constructive act. Therefore, our definitions often determine our values. 可知,本段主要讲述了一个行为的性质取决于我们的定义,所以G项“Another trouble to consider is the definition we give to construction and destruction.
5.根据前文“Additionally, construction can be seen as good to some, and bad to others. What a majority might take as a constructive might be seen as destructive to a minority. Is there a way to determine which side is correct? It is almost impossible. 可知,前句提出问题,给出了直接回答,空处应是对其进一步解释,所以E项“Being in the majority does not mean it is correct, or more proper.

【答案】1.F 2.B 3.G 4.C 5.E

1.上文提到“While long distance friendships might require some planning and creativity to keep up, there’s no reason to let physical distance keep you from staying connected.(虽然异地友谊可能需要一些计划和创造力来维持,但没有理由让物理距离阻碍你们保持联系)”,说明要探讨维持异地友谊的话题。 F选项“Here are some effective ways to maintain such friendships(以下是一些维持这种友谊的有效方法)”,直接引出下文要介绍的具体维持异地友谊的方法,承上启下,符合语境。故选F。
2.前文说“Whether you’ve just moved away from your friends or you’ve been apart for years, long distance friendships require a two - way commitment. That means reaching out, finding time to hang out and showing your friends you value them.(无论你是刚刚离开朋友,还是已经分开多年,异地友谊都需要双向的承诺。
3.由上文“Maybe you both love cooking, so you each send photos of the new dishes you make with a link to the recipe. Or you both love, let’s say, the HBO show Euphoria, and you text to discuss after each episode comes out. 或者假设你们都喜欢HBO的《亢奋》,每集播出后你们都会发短信讨论)”可知,本空应说明这些共同兴趣的作用,G选项“It doesn’t really matter what it is, as long as it helps you initiate a connection (是什么并不重要,只要它能帮助你建立联系)”符合逻辑,其中“it”指代前文提到的共同兴趣。故选G。
4.由后文“If you feel like your communication is difficult because of distance, your friends probably feel that way too, so don’t be afraid to be the first one to reach out. When phone calls won’t cut it, think about a visit.
5.由上文“Address conflicts openly (公开处理冲突)”以及后文“There’s just a limited amount of time you get with your friends, so it’s easy to let conflicts go unaddressed.

G.Then think about who and what you actually spend your time on
【答案】1.C 2.A 3.D 4.E 5.G

【答案】1.E 2.A 3.B 4.G 5.D

Keep your slippers by the front door.(当你从外面进来时,会把各种污垢带进你的私密空间。 故选A。
3.上文“They harbour germs and pollutants, from dust mites to pet dander to pesticides, catching anything that’s floating in the air in your home — even when you’re particular about vacuum cleaning. The materials used to make synthetic carpets and the compounds they emit add to indoor pollution, triggering or aggravating allergic reactions, respiratory and heart problems.(地毯藏匿细菌和污染物,从尘螨到宠物皮屑再到杀虫剂,会捕捉家中空气中漂浮的任何东西 —— 即使你特别注意用吸尘器清洁。
4.上文“MDF in shelving and modern furniture often contains formaldehyde, a volatile organic compound (VOC) classed as a carcinogen.(搁架和现代家具中的中密度纤维板(MDF)通常含有甲醛,这是一种被列为致癌物的挥发性有机化合物(VOC))”说明中密度纤维板中常含有甲醛,G项“它存在于粘合木屑和废料的树脂中”解释甲醛的具体来源,衔接MDF材料与甲醛的关系,使上下文逻辑连贯,符合语境。故选G。

A morning stretch
