Is Fresh Air Really Good for You?
We all grew up hearing people tell us to “go out and get some fresh air.” …
37 段首标题句 If the air you’re breathing is clean--which it would be if you’re away from the smog of cities--then the air is filled with life-giving, energizing oxygen. If you exercise out of doors, your body will learn to breathe more deeply, allowing even more oxygen to get to your muscles (肌肉) and your brain.
Recently people have begun studying the connection between the natural world and healing (治愈). 38(G. All across the country, recovery centers have begun building Healing Gardens.) In these places patients can go to be near nature during their recovery. It turns out that just looking at green, growing things can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and put people into a better mood (情绪). Greenery is good for us. Hospital patients who see tree branches out their window are likely to recover at a faster rate than patients who see buildings or sky instead. 39(C. Being in nature refreshes us.) It gives us a great feeling of peace.
40 段首标题句While the sun's rays can age and harm our skin, they also give beneficial Vitamin D. To make sure you get enough Vitamin D—but still protect your skin— put on sunscreen right as you head outside. It takes sunscreen about fifteen minutes to start working, and that's plenty of time for your skin to absorb a day's worth of Vitamin D.
A. Fresh air cleans our lungs.
B. So what are you waiting for?
C. Being in nature refreshes us.
D. Another side benefit of getting fresh air is sunlight.
E. But is fresh air really as good for you as your mother always said?
F. Just as importantly, we tend to associate air with health care.
G. All across the country, recovery centers have begun building Healing Gardens.
What is moderation (适度)? Basically, it means eating only as much food as your body needs. You should feel satisfied at the end of a meal, but not too full. …
Take your time. …
Eat with others whenever possible. …
Control emotional (情绪的) eatin. …
40 段落主题句A healthy breakfast can start your metabolism (新陈代谢), while eating small, healthy meals keeps your energy up all day. Avoid eating late at night. Try to eat dinner earlier and fast for 14 — 16 hours until breakfast the next morning. Studies suggest that eating only when you're most active and giving your digestive system a long break each day may help to regulate weight.
A. Eat properly throughout the day.
B. We don't always eat just to satisfy hunger.
C. Don't swallow a meal on the way to work.
D. Most of us need to double the amount we eat.
E. Instead, surround yourself with healthy choices.
F. For many of us, moderation means eating less than we do now.
G. That won't lead to cheating or giving up on your new eating plan.
跟踪训练2 (2024新课标II卷第39题)
Writing an essay is a difficult process for most people. However, the process can be made easier if you learn to practice three simple techniques.
36 段落主题句When you are first trying to think of ideas for an essay, put your pen to your paper and write nonstop for ten or fifteen minutes without letting your pen leave the paper. Stay loose and free. 37 Don’t worry about grammar or spelling. Even though this technique won’t work for everyone, it helps many people get a good store of ideas to draw on.
The next technique is to write your draft rapidly without worrying about being perfect. 38 Yet, by learning to live with imperfection, you will save yourself headaches and a wastepaper basket full of crumpled (弄皱) paper. Think of your first draft as a path cut out of the jungle—as part of an exploration, not as a complete highway.
The third technique is to try printing out a triple—spaced (三倍行距) copy to allow space for revision. 39 As a result, these writers never get in the habit of crossing out chunks (大块) of their draft and writing revisions in the blank space. After you have revised your draft until it is too messy to work from anymore, you can enter your changes into your word processor. 40 The resulting blank space invites you to revise.
A. Make sure your handwriting is neat.
B. Let your pen follow the waves of thought.
C. The second draft of the essay should be better.
D. First of all, learn the technique of nonstop writing.
E. Too many writers try to get their drafts right the first time.
F. Many beginning writers don’t leave enough space to revise.
G. Then you can print out a fresh draft, again setting your text on triple-space.
跟踪训练3 (2020新课标卷第40题)
Some individuals are born with a gift for public speaking. 36(G. However, the majority of people are effective speakers because they train to be.) Do you want to be a good public speaker? Here are some principles you must master.
People want to listen to someone who is interesting, relaxed and comfortable. Too often when you stand up to give a speech, you focus on the “public” at the expense of the “speaking. ” …
Even the most successful public speaker will make mistakes. …
Your goal is not to be a perfect public speaker. …
40 段落主题句. It’s rare to hear someone say, “I wish that speaker had spoken longer.” On the other hand, you probably can’t count the times that you’ve thought, “I’m glad that talk is over. It seemed to go on forever!“” So surprise your audience. Always make your presentation just a bit shorter than anticipated. It’s better to leave your listeners wishing for more than shifting restlessly in their seats waiting for your speech finally to end.
A. Do the opposite.
B. You want to be an effective public speaker.
C. You don’ t need to apologize for a minor slip.
D. When it comes to public speaking, less is usually more.
E. The objective of most speeches is to benefit the audience
F. Take the fear out of public speaking by focusing on your listeners
G. However, the majority of people are effective speakers because they train to be.

·Set a regular date
…
·More isn’t always merrier
…
·Practise empathy (共情)
38 过渡句. The friend who is remaining needs to be sensitive to all the additional time demands placed on the friend who has moved. The one in the new environment should be sympathetic to the fact that your friend may feel abandoned.
· 39(Remember important dates)

跟踪训练3(2021新课标I卷)
My husband and I just spent a week in Paris. 36(F. Our aim was to see if we could live, in some way, like real Parisians.) So the first thing we did was rent a fantastically expensive sixth-floor apartment the size of a cupboard. It was so tiny that we had to leave our suitcases in the hallway.
The place wasn’t entirely authentic, though. Unlike a normal Parisian apartment, the plumbing (水管) worked. 37(C. There was a nice kitchen and a comfortable bed.) Our building even had a tiny lift with a female voice that said, “Ouverture des portes,” in perfect French. That is the only French phrase I mastered, and it’s a shame I don’t have much use for it.
Parisians are different from you and me. They never look lazy or untidy. As someone noted in this paper a couple of weeks ago, they eat great food and never gain weight. 38(G. The food is so delicious that you don’t need much of it to make you happy.) French strawberries do not taste like cardboard. Instead, they explode in your mouth like little flavor bombs.
39 On our first morning in Paris, I went around the corner to the food market to pick up some groceries. I bought a handful of perfectly ripe small strawberries and a little sweet melon. My husband and I agreed they were the best fruit we had ever eaten. But they cost $18!
In France, quality of life is much more important than efficiency (效率). You can tell this by café life. French cafés are always crowded. 40(A. Not all the customers are tourists.) When do these people work? The French take their 35-hour workweek seriously — so seriously that some labor unions recently struck a deal with a group of companies limiting the number of hours that independent contractors can be on call.
A. Not all the customers are tourists.
B. The quality of life in France is equally excellent.
C. There was a nice kitchen and a comfortable bed.
D. The amazing food is mainly consumed by local farmers.
E. That’s not the only reason the French eat less than we do.
F. Our aim was to see if we could live, in some way, like real Parisians.
G. The food is so delicious that you don’t need much of it to make you happy.
Not all great writers are great spellers. If you want to be published, it’s vital to submit a perfect, professionally presented manuscript (原稿). 36(F. That means good grammar and no spelling mistakes.) No editor is likely to tolerate a writer who does not take the trouble to spell words correctly.
I keep two reference books close-by on my desk: dictionary and thesaurus (同义词词典). I don’t trust my laptop’s spellchecker. 37(B. It takes no account of the context.) Of course, these days there are plenty of online dictionaries and thesauruses, but I’m old-fashioned enough to prefer a hard cover and pages I can leaf through with my fingers. I use the Concise Oxford Dictionary and the Collins Thesaurus.
38 It should give you a precise definition of each word, thus differentiating it from other words whose meanings are similar, but not identical. It will also usually show how the word is pronounced.
In addition, I have an old two-volume copy of the Shorter Oxford Dictionary, picked up a few years ago in a bookshop sale for just 99 pence. Of course, with its 2,672 pages, it’s not exactly short. It contains around 163,000 words, plus word combinations and idiomatic phrases. 39(A. I don’t often use this dictionary.) However, if I need to check the origin of a word or to look up examples of its usage, there’s nothing better.
For well over a hundred years the most influential English dictionary was Samuel Johnson’s Dictionary of the English Language published in 1755. “To make dictionaries is dull (乏味) work,” wrote Johnson, illustrating one definition of “dull”. 40(D. But a dictionary can be a pleasure to read.) A few minutes spent casting your eye over a page or two can be a rewarding experience.
A. I don’t often use this dictionary.
B. It takes no account of the context.
C. But I still don’t want to replace them.
D. But a dictionary can be a pleasure to read.
E. Of course, a dictionary is not only for spelling.
F. That means good grammar and no spelling mistakes.
G. Dictionaries don’t always give you enough information.
跟踪训练2 (2020全国II卷第40题)
Emoji(表情符号)and Workplace Communication
In Asia, messaging platforms are growing rapidly, with users in the hundreds of millions, both at work and play. …
Written communications can often read as cold and dull. Using emojis can add humor and feeling, keeping intention clear. 37(A. Message with emojis feel more conversational), encouraging better and more frequent communication.
In any given office, employees can range from age 22 to 70 and beyond, and finding common ground in communication style can be a challenge. 38(G. An easy way to bring all work generations together is with a chat platform) .
While the younger generations prefer to communicate visually, for those used to working with traditional tools like email, it may feel like a learning curve(曲线). The good news is that it’s simple to learn and can be worth the effort.
There is also the matter of tone(语气). Who hasn’t received an email so annoying that it ruined an entire day? 39(B. Even a formal email can seem cold and unfriendly). Emoji can help communication feel friendlier, and even a serious note can be softened with an encouraging smile.
40 , and emoji can contribute directly to that positive outcome. And when your employees begin adding smiling emojis to their business communication, you’ll know you have succeeded in improving your work culture.
A. Message with emojis feel more conversational
B. Even a formal email can seem cold and unfriendly
C. Sending smiling faces to colleagues may seem strange
D. The popularity of these platforms is spreading globally
E. Giving employees the tools enables them to communicate honestly
F. Studies show that friendlier communication leads to a happier workplace
G. An easy way to bring all work generations together is with a chat platform

One of the most common mistakes in communication is trying to do too much. 36 There’s no value in delivering any kind of communication, whether written, spoken, formal, or informal, if the message doesn’t come across clearly. Being clear and brief – while maintaining interest and including everything your listeners need to know – is a high-level communication skill.
Here are some tips worth following in order to communicate more effectively.
●Keep your audience in mind.
Your audience will naturally be more interested and engaged when you tailor your communications to their interests. 37 This will engage their desire to understand and interact with the information.
●Don’t use ten words when one will do.
Even the most engaged and committed audience will eventually get bored. Keeping your message simple and clear will make it easier for people to understand. 38 However, they’re hearing it for the first time. Keep it simple.
● 39 段首标题句
If you’ve ever worked as an instructor, manager, trainer or coach, you’ll know that there are few better ways to learn new information than to teach it. Ask the audience to contribute their ideas or to take a role in explaining new concepts and policies to others. Allow them to lead discussions and meetings to develop their communication skills.
●Consider the best method to deliver your message.
If the information you’re communicating isn’t urgent, consider sending an email. Written communication will give your audience more time to review it, think it over, and follow up with questions. 40
Building effective communication skills takes time, but the effects are worth the effort.
A. Be patient.
B. Get the audience involved.
C. The best messages are often simple.
D. Speak directly to what matters to them.
E. You may be surprised by what your listeners offer.
F. It will also give them a handy record to refer back to.
G. As the speaker, you already know what you’re going to say.

We interviewed students and professors to get their advice about online courses, The most obvious advantage of online learning is that you can study anywhere and anytime. 38 “I think a point that many people lose sight of is how easy it can be to fall behind schedule,” says graduate student Amanda Bindman. Before choosing to study online, consider whether you’re a self-motivated learner and if the material seems interesting enough to keep you going.
The tip that comes up most often is simple: build online courses into your weekly schedule, just like what you would do with in person courses. 39 He noted that his online students usually end up with lower grades. It is so easy to let an online course slide, but your grades will suffer as a result. Be sure to schedule set times to watch your lectures, read materials and contribute to online discussion boards.
40 段首细节句 A social connection is often a big part of learning. There are things you can do to ease this problem. Jessica Pink, an undergraduate student, suggests taking online courses with a friend, so you can motivate each other to stay on track. You can also find students on the class discussion board to organize a study group, or schedule in-person meeting s with your professor to discuss course concepts.
A. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t deadlines.
B. Your motivation should be your main concern.
C. Do you know that online courses are also part of your education?
D. Professor Alex Davidson teaches the same course in person and online.
E. The chief complain t about online courses is that they lack human interaction.

How to Develop Effective Reading Habits?
Reading is a fundamental skill that enriches our knowledge and broadens our perspectives. However, many people struggle to maintain consistent reading habits. With the right strategies, anyone can become a regular reader and enjoy the benefits it brings.
1 .段首标题句 Before you start, think about what you want to gain from reading. Do you want to learn new skills, explore different cultures, or simply relax? Your goals will help you choose the right books and stay motivated. For example, if you aim to improve your vocabulary, you might focus on literary classics or non-fiction works with rich language.
Create a reading schedule that fits your daily routine. 2 . It could be 20 minutes in the morning before work, 15 minutes during your lunch break, or half an hour before bed. Consistency is more important than the amount of time you spend reading each day. Set a reminder on your phone or mark your reading time on a calendar to help you stick to the schedule.
Choose the right reading environment. 3 . Some people prefer quiet places like libraries or their home study, while others enjoy reading in cafes with soft background music. Make sure your reading space is comfortable — have a good chair, proper lighting, and keep distractions like phones or TVs to a minimum.
Take notes while reading to enhance comprehension. 4 . Write down key ideas, unfamiliar words, or questions that come to mind. You can use a notebook, sticky notes, or digital tools like e-readers with note-taking features. Reviewing your notes later will help you remember what you’ve read.
Finally, celebrate your progress. 5 . Whether you finish a book, reach a reading goal, or discover a new favorite author, take time to acknowledge your achievement. Reward yourself with a trip to a bookstore, a new bookmark, or simply the satisfaction of knowing you’re building a valuable habit.
A.Set clear reading goals
B.This makes reading more interactive and social
C.Everyone has different preferences for where they read best
D.Reading in short, regular sessions is more effective than long, occasional ones
E.Keeping track of your reading journey can motivate you to keep going
F.Not every book will resonate with you, and that’s perfectly normal
G.This helps you engage actively with the text and retain information better

Building a DIY herb garden is a rewarding endeavor that allows you to enjoy fresh, homegrown herbs right at your fingertips. Whether you’ re an experienced gardener or a beginner, a well- maintained herb garden can enhance your cooking, add beauty to your space, and even provide a sense of relaxation. 1 By following these practical steps, you can create a thriving herb garden that will serve you well for seasons to come.
2 段首标题句 The first crucial step is choosing the right location for your herb garden. Most herbs thrive in full sunlight, requiring at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight per day. However, some herbs like mint and parsley can tolerate partial shade. Consider the amount of sunlight your chosen spot receives throughout the day. 3 If you live in an area with strong winds, find a sheltered location or use windbreaks to protect your delicate herbs.
Select the herbs that suit your needs and growing conditions. Think about which herbs you use most frequently in your cooking. Basil, thyme, rosemary, and oregano are popular choices for enhancing the flavor of Italian dishes. 4 If you have limited space, opt for compact varieties or herbs that can be grown in containers. Also, take into account your local climate. Some herbs are more cold- hardy, while others prefer warmer temperatures.
Prepare the soil properly before planting. Herbs generally prefer well- drained soil that is rich in organic matter. You can improve the soil quality by adding compost, aged manure, or peat moss. 5 This helps the roots of the herbs grow easily. Avoid using heavy, clay- like soil that can retain too much water and cause the roots to rot.
With the right planning and care, your DIY herb garden will not only provide you with a bountiful supply of fresh herbs but also become a delightful addition to your home.
A.However, it’s important to ensure good air circulation around the plants as well.
B.Lavender, on the other hand, is not only great for baking but also has a soothing aroma.
C.But achieving a successful herb garden requires careful planning and the right techniques.
D.Use a garden fork or tiller to loosen the soil to a depth of about 8-10 inches.
E.Determine the size of your garden based on the available space and the number of herbs you want to grow.
F.Also, consider the proximity to a water source, as regular watering is essential for herb growth.
G.Make sure to space the plants according to their mature size to prevent overcrowding.

While long distance friendships might require some planning and creativity to keep up, there’s no reason to let physical distance keep you from staying connected. 1 .
Be clear and intentional about keeping your long distance friends
Whether you’ve just moved away from your friends or you’ve been apart for years, long distance friendships require a two-way commitment. That means reaching out, finding time to hang out and showing your friends you value them. 2 . Remember that they value you, too.
Use common interests to feel connected
Develop an “anchor” for your friendship. An anchor is something that you have in common that acts as a trigger to reach out to each other. Maybe you both love cooking, so you each send photos of the new dishes you make with a link to the recipe. Or you both love, let’s say, the HBO show Euphoria, and you text to discuss after each episode comes out. 3 .
4 段首标题句
If you feel like your communication is difficult because of distance, your friends probably feel that way too, so don’t be afraid to be the first one to reach out. When phone calls won’t cut it, think about a visit. Visiting is one of the most important things we can do to keep a long distance friendship going.
Address conflicts openly
5 . 段首过渡句 There’s just a limited amount of time you get with your friends, so it’s easy to let conflicts go unaddressed. Try not to sweep things under the rug. In fact, addressing conflict is one of the ways you can become closer with your friends.
A.But it’s all worth it
B.And it goes both ways
C.Don’t hesitate to reach out
D.Make every effort to make it count
E.Separation is hard, and miscommunication happens
F.Here are some effective ways to maintain such friendships
G.It doesn’t really matter what it is, as long as it helps you initiate a connection

With the widespread use of computers, increasing students type with a greater-than-ever reliance on them to take notes and write papers. 1 Some parents of younger students are dismayed that their children are not just encouraged but required to take laptops to class. Additionally, university professors complain of rampant (泛滥的) distraction in classrooms, with students reading and messaging instead of listening to lectures.
A line of research shows the benefits of an “innovation” that predates computers handwriting. Especially, studies have found that writing on paper can better students’ performance. 2 For learning materials by note (死记硬背), from the shapes of letters to the irregularity of English spelling, the benefits of using a pen or pencil lie in how the motor and sensory memory of putting words on paper reinforces that material.
3 段首细节句 In a study from 2014 by Pam Mueller and Danny Oppenheimer, students typing wrote down almost twice as many words and more passages word for word from lectures. It suggested they didn’t understand so much as rapidly copying the material. However, handwriting — which takes longer for nearly all university-level students — forces note-takers to transform ideas into their own words. 4 Those taking notes by hand also allows students to perform better on tests when they are later able to study from their notes.
Many studies have confirmed handwriting’s benefits, and policymakers have taken note. For instance, about half the states in America have required more teaching of handwriting. 5 Although nearly all will eventually need typing skills, in an age of typing, handwriting still matters.
A.Studies have found that handwriting can benefit a lot.
B.This aids conceptual understanding at the moment of writing.
C.But today a different debate is raging about the dangers of typing.
D.In Sweden there is a push for more handwriting books and fewer devices.
E.However, several schools in America have gone so far to ban most laptops.
F.It helps students recall a random series of words and grasp complicated concepts better.
G.One of the best-demonstrated advantages of handwriting seems to be in superior note-taking.

Having settled in Hotel Courtyard in Bangkok, we explored the city immediately. We went shopping for the whole day and finally we decided to return.
It was at that time that the trouble started. We forgot there are two courtyard hotels in the opposite directions. Absolutely unaware of this, we started searching for the way back. Google maps suggested us the shortest route which was just 20 minutes away by walk. 1
Bangkok felt different after sunset. Walking along the heavily-crowded roads with the dark-red sky felt beautiful. Lost in our talk, we didn’t realize that we passed onto the quieter part of the town.
2 段首细节句 It was closed for redecoration. Unfortunately, nobody around us then spoke English. Worse still, we stepped in a local tuk-tuk (三轮车), which took us to an unknown area for an enormous pay. We had no idea where we were, our mobile phones nearly out of charge.
3 段首过渡句 He was a taxi driver. Recounting the day’s events proved to be a great conversation starter. We ended up talking through the way. He was so kind as to offer to drive us around for the rest of our stay. 4 For the next four days, from floating markets to the temples of Wat Pho, our trip wouldn’t have been so trouble-free without him.
Sometimes when everything doesn’t go as planned, I think about the stranger we met on the streets and how a tiny mistake on our part led to unexpected results. 5
A.That was when our hero arrived.
B.Our thankfulness knew no bounds.
C.We reached a completely different Hotel Courtyard.
D.We set off into the city with little research on transport.
E.We decided not to waste our money but our time instead.
F.The trip rings as a reminder that every cloud has a silver lining.

The lights are dimmed in a cozy room at bedtime when a small voice asks, “One more story, please?” For children the magic of books transforms the bedroom into a world of daring adventures, stretching minds beyond the story’s end. But when screens and TikTok trends compete for every moment of attention, developing a love for reading might feel like an uphill battle. 1
Read out loud consistently. Research shows that children who are read to regularly acquire thousands of new words to build their vocabularies. 2 . As they grow, encourage them to join in and read aloud with you. Reading out loud creates all sorts of connective tissue.
3 . 段首主题句 Children are drawn to different topics and books. But whether it’s a comic book or a chapter book, reading should be recognized by parents. Try not to shame kids or push them toward a certain genre (体裁) of reading if they’re not interested. There are things of value in a host of different texts. Helping kids find pleasure in reading is the goal.
Lead by example. Children are more likely to develop a love for books when they see their parents read. Just as you wouldn’t tell your children to eat their vegetables while you’re snacking on chips, modeling your own enjoyment of reading sends a powerful message. 4 kids may grow up thinking their parents don’t read at all. Instead, make reading a visible part of your daily routine.
Allow kids to put down books they’re not enjoying. Even well-meaning parents sometimes encourage unwilling readers to “push through for a few more chapters.” But forcing a child to finish a book they’re not interested in makes reading feel like a chore. Instead, say, “Not enjoying that one? 5 .” Give children the opportunity to explore different books.
A.Let’s finish it together
B.Celebrate reading in any form
C.I’ll introduce you to something else
D.Encourage kids to read various textbooks
E.The good news is that there are some practical tips
F.However, if parents only read when their children are asleep
G.Start reading to your kids when they’re young and keep it up

How to improve social skills? Different people have different opinions. Social skills are an essential part of life but are not always easy to perfect. Improving takes time and some trial and error.

Choose specific goals and work towards them.
Trying to “improve your social skills” is such a broad goal that it is hard to see progress towards it and it is easy to get discouraged. 4 For instance, you might decide “I want to successfully join a conversation at a party.”
Find people who share the same interests with you.

02段落标题句跟踪训练
跟踪训练2 (2024全国甲卷第40题)
【解析】
37.根据下一句中提到的“If the air you’re breathing is clean…the air is filled with life-giving, energizing oxygen”可知,新鲜空气充满赋予人生命的,充满活力的氧气。再根据下文中“…breathe more deeply, allowing more oxygen to get to your muscles and your brain”是对前文的递进,在户外,更多的氧气进入你的肌肉和大脑。根据前面的分析可以推知,该空应该提到新鲜空气的基本作用,根据常识,我们知道吸入的空气首先进入的是肺部,然后才会使我们的肌肉和大脑受益,故该空应选A项“新鲜空气清洁我们的肺部”。
40.根据下文中提到的“the sun’s rays…give us beneficial Vitamin D”可知,该段介绍阳光的好处。

Important Things to Know When Dining Out
Cultural dining etiquette (礼节) might surprise you with some of its important rules….
Chopstick Rules

Hands or Utensils (餐具)
In India and the Middle East, it’s considered very rude to eat with your left hand. …
Making Requests
39 过渡句. In Portugal, this would be a serious mistake, because it shows the chef that you don’t like their seasoning skills. Similarly, in Italy, never ask for extra cheese to add to your food.
Some of these cultural dining etiquette rules may seem random and strange, but they are important in various countries….
A. The more friends you make in your lifetime
B. The more time you spend in any given country
C. Mexicans consider it inappropriate to eat with utensils
D. Don’t get caught making an embarrassing mistake at a restaurant
E. It’s a good sign for the chef if you make a mess around your plate
F. Never stick them upright in your food or cross them as you use them
G. It may seem like a simple request to ask for salt and pepper at a meal
【解析】
第一步:观察文本特征。结合其他段落结构,均含有小标题,包括本段。设空处位于标题之下,段落之首,应该定为段落过渡句
第二步:寻找关键信息。在段落中寻找同义词、近义词或反义词等关键词。根据本段小标题“Making Requests”可知,本段主要讲述的是用餐时提请求的问题。根据下文“In Portugal, this would be a serious mistake, because it shows the chef that you don’t like their seasoning skills. Similarly, in Italy, never ask for extra cheese to add to your food. (在葡萄牙,这将是一个严重的错误,因为这向厨师表明你不喜欢他们的调味技巧。同样,在意大利,永远不要要求在食物中添加额外的奶酪)”可推知,在一些国家,用餐时提出要求是很无礼的。由此可知,G项“It may seem like simple request to ask for salt and pepper at a meal (吃饭时要盐和胡椒看似很简单)”符合此处语境,其中“request”是关键词,说明,在用餐时提出一些我们看来很平常的要求在某些国家是无礼的。故选G。
第三步:锁定最佳答案。本题最佳答案是G。

Friendship needs care and attention to keep it in good health. Here are five ways to sustain (保持) long-distance friendships.
·Set a regular date
…
·More isn’t always merrier
…
·Practise empathy (共情)
38 过渡句. The friend who is remaining needs to be sensitive to all the additional time demands placed on the friend who has moved. The one in the new environment should be sympathetic to the fact that your friend may feel abandoned.
· 39(Remember important dates)
Anniversaries and birthdays carry even more weight in long-distance friendships. Although technology might make day-to-day communication possible, extra effort goes a long way on special days. Simply keeping a diary that keeps track of friends’ birthdays and other important dates will make sure nothing slips by you.
·Don’t rely on technology alone
40 过渡句, but long-distance friendships — even close ones — may require more conscious effort to sustain. Try to seek out chances to renew friendships. How to do it? Just spend face-to-face time together whenever possible.
A. Remember important dates
B. Compensate by writing letters
C. It is also helpful for you to be a friendship keeper
D. Try to find a time that works for both of you and stick to it
E. Friends need to talk about their preferred methods of communication
F. It is easy to have a sense of connectedness through social media
G. You may be the friend who left or the one who was left behind
【解析】
第一步:观察文本特征。观察其他段落结构,均含有小标题,包括38和40空所在段落。设空处位于标题之下,段落之首,应该定为段落过渡句
第二步:寻找关键信息。在段落中寻找同义词、近义词或反义词等关键词。①38. G。下文“The friend who is remaining”(留下来的朋友)和“The one in the new environment”(在新环境中的那个)提到朋友的两个不同处境,G项“你可能是朋友中离开的那一方,也可能是被留下的那一方”指出了异地友谊中分为离开的一方和留下的一方,其中“the friend who left”和“the one who was left behind”分别对应下文“The one in the new environment”和“The friend who is remaining”,所以G项符合题意。②40. F。设空处所在句子的后半句“but long-distance friendships — even close ones — may require more conscious effort to sustain.”(但是异地友谊——甚至是关系亲密的友谊——可能需要更加自觉地去维系。)
【解析】
第一步:观察文本特征。设空处位于标题之下,段落之首,应该定为段落过渡句
第二步:寻找关键信息。本段需要兼顾上一段才能判断这是上下段过渡句。下文“My husband and I agreed they were the best fruit we had ever eaten.

【解析】
第一步:观察文本特征。设空处段落之首,参考其他段落既没有标题句也没有主题句,应该是非典型细节句。
第二步:寻找关键信息。文“It should give you a precise definition of each word, thus differentiating it from other words whose meanings are similar, but not identical. It will also usually show how the word is pronounced.(它应该给出每个单词的精确定义,从而将其与其他含义相似但不相同的单词区分开来。它通常还会显示单词的发音。)”提到了字典的功能,E选项“Of course, a dictionary is not only for spelling.(当然,字典不仅仅是用来拼写的。)”提到了字典的部分功能,能引起下文内容。设空处与“It should give...”和“It will also usually show...”

In the past few years, online learning has become a significant part of the university and college experience. 36 But are all online courses created equal? How can you be sure that digital learning is right for you? 37
We interviewed students and professors to get their advice about online courses, The most obvious advantage of online learning is that you can study anywhere and anytime. 38 “I think a point that many people lose sight of is how easy it can be to fall behind schedule,” says graduate student Amanda Bindman.

Allow kids to put down books they’re not enjoying. 2.根据小标题是“Read out loud consistently(持续大声朗读)”以及上文“Research shows that children who are read to regularly acquire thousands of new words to build their vocabularies.(研究表明,经常被大声朗读故事的孩子能积累数千个新单词来扩充他们的词汇量)” 可知,选项与小标题呼应,说明大声朗读要从孩子小时候开始并持续进行,引出后文随着孩子成长鼓励他们一起大声朗读。故G选项“在孩子还小的时候就开始给他们朗读,并坚持下去” 符合语境,故选G。
3.根据下文“Children are drawn to different topics and books. But whether it’s a comic book or a chapter book, reading should be recognized by parents. Try not to shame kids or push them toward a certain genre (体裁) of reading if they’re not interested. There are things of value in a host of different texts. Helping kids find pleasure in reading is the goal.(孩子们会被不同的主题和书籍吸引。但无论是漫画书还是章节书,阅读都应该得到父母的认可。如果孩子不感兴趣,尽量不要让他们感到羞愧或强迫他们去读某种体裁的书。在许多不同的文本中都有有价值的东西。帮助孩子在阅读中找到乐趣是目标)” 可知,本段主要强调要认可和鼓励孩子各种形式的阅读。故B选项“庆祝任何形式的阅读” 符合,作为小标题概括该段内容,故选B。
4.根据上文“Lead by example. Children are more likely to develop a love for books when they see their parents read. Just as you wouldn’t tell your children to eat their vegetables while you’re snacking on chips, modeling your own enjoyment of reading sends a powerful message.(以身作则。当孩子看到父母阅读时,他们更有可能培养对书籍的热爱。就像你不会在自己吃薯片的时候告诉孩子去吃蔬菜一样,展示自己对阅读的喜爱会传递一个强有力的信息)”以及下文“kids may grow up thinking their parents don’t read at all. Instead, make reading a visible part of your daily routine.(孩子们可能会在长大后认为他们的父母根本不读书。相反,让阅读成为你日常生活中可见的一部分)” 可知,选项承上启下,说明如果父母阅读行为不被孩子看见,就达不到树立榜样的效果,引出后文孩子可能产生父母不读书的误解。故F选项“然而,如果父母只在孩子睡着的时候读书”说明不示范的后果,与后文“孩子可能认为父母不读书”逻辑衔接,故选F。
5.根据上文“Instead, say, “Not enjoying that one?(相反,要说,“不喜欢这本?”)”以及下文“Give children the opportunity to explore different books.(给孩子们机会去探索不同的书)”可知,承接前文不喜欢这本书怎么办,引出后文给孩子探索不同书的机会。故C选项“我给你介绍别的书” 符合语境,故选C。

Taking a break from social media doesn’t mean disconnecting forever. 1 . Here are some tips on how to achieve that.
Limit your social media time
Completely cutting off social media may be unrealistic for you. 2 . One study revealed that cutting back on social media usage to 30 minutes a day can increase user awareness, while improving both mood and focus. In addition, participants experienced a significant reduction in anxiety, sleep issues, and feelings of loneliness.
Monitor your social media engagement
Monitor your online time and level of engagement. Consider downloading an app on your smartphone and other devices to track daily or weekly time spent on social media platforms. 3 . From there, you can determine whether your level of social media engagement is affecting your mental and daily functioning, whether you’re meeting your goals, and whether you need to make some changes.
4 段首标题句
Plan your online activity by setting a specific time frame for engagement. For example, try checking emails only twice a day, or logging in to social media accounts only on weekends. Some studies have indicated that taking a scheduled breather from your smartphone and other digital devices can reduce stress levels, increase concentration, improve productivity, and boost your daily functioning.
Increase face-to-face interactions
5 . As a result, it can negatively impact your mental health. Having in-person conversations, making eye contact, giving someone a high five, etc. are all aspects of the human experience. As such, focusing on your current relationships, reaching out to friends and relatives, enhancing your social (in-person) life, volunteering, and so forth can develop a healthier mindset, boost your mood, and leave you feeling more satisfied
A.Use social media constructively
B.Schedule your social media activity
C.Instead, try reducing your digital consumption
D.This can provide you with accurate user data and patterns
E.Spending too much time online can decrease offline interactions
F.Focus on maintaining a nutritious diet, regular body movement, a routine sleep schedule
G.It’s simply a purposeful act of self-adjusting your online activity to reshape a healthier user pattern
【答案】1.G 2.C 3.D 4.B 5.E
【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了暂时远离社交媒体从而塑造更健康的用户习惯的四个具体方法。
1.前文“Taking a break from social media doesn’t mean disconnecting forever. (暂时远离社交媒体并不意味着永远断联。)”破除对短暂离开社交媒体的错误看法,后文“Here are some tips on how to achieve that. (以下是一些实现这一目标的实用建议。)”引出实现短暂离开社交媒体的建议,此处需说明短暂离开社交媒体的本质,因此G项“It’s simply a purposeful act of self-adjusting your online activity to reshape a healthier user pattern (这仅是调整在线活动的自主行为,以塑造更健康的用户习惯)”符合语境,对这一行为定性,承接前文,其中的It指代前文的Taking a break from social media。故选G。
2.前文“Completely cutting off social media may be unrealistic for you. (彻底断绝对社交媒体的依赖对你而言可能不太现实。)”否定完全不使用社交媒体的可行性,后文“One study revealed that cutting back on social media usage to 30 minutes a day can increase user awareness, while improving both mood and focus. (研究表明,将每日社交媒体使用时间控制在30分钟内,不仅能提升用户认知水平,还能改善情绪状态并增强专注力。)”用研究结果指出少量使用社交媒体的好处,此处需给出减少使用社交媒体的替代方案,因此C项“Instead, try reducing your digital consumption (相反,尝试减少数字消费)”符合语境,和前文构成转折,引出后文。故选C。
3.前文“Consider downloading an app on your smartphone and other devices to track daily or weekly time spent on social media platforms. (考虑在智能手机等设备上下载专用应用程序,用于追踪每日或每周在社交媒体平台上的使用时长。)”建议用软件监测使用时间,后文“From there, you can determine whether your level of social media engagement is affecting your mental and daily functioning, whether you’re meeting your goals, and whether you need to make some changes. (由此,你可以评估自己的社交媒体参与度是否影响了心理状态和日常生活、是否达成了既定目标,以及是否需要做出相应调整。)”具体说明监测结果发挥的各种作用,此处应起到过渡作用,说明监测得到的结果是什么,因此D项“This can provide you with accurate user data and patterns (这能提供准确的用户数据与模式)”符合语境,承前启后。故选D。
4.后文“Plan your online activity by setting a specific time frame for engagement. For example, try checking emails only twice a day, or logging in to social media accounts only on weekends. (规划你的线上活动时间,设定明确的使用时段。例如,每天只查看两次邮件,或仅在周末登录社交媒体账号。)”主要建议规划在线时间,给出查看邮件、登录账号等示例,此处是段落标题,需总的建议规划社交媒体活动,且需和其他段落标题一样使用祈使句的形式,因此B项“Schedule your social media activity (安排你的社交媒体活动)”符合语境,契合后文内容。故选B。
5.本段标题是“Increase face-to-face interactions (增加面对面交流)”,后文“As a result, it can negatively impact your mental health. (因此,这可能会对你的心理健康产生负面影响。)”指出某事的负面影响,此处是段首句,应该和面对面交流时间减少相关,因此E项“Spending too much time online can decrease offline interactions (花太多时间线上会减少线下互动)”符合语境,其中的offline interactions呼应标题中的face-to-face interactions,和后文是因果关系。故选E。

Why do you think you see a lot of friends are people who share something in common? For example, the basketball group, the football group, the video games group. 5 So if you love football then talk about football. This is how most friendships start off.

D.People like it when you are comfortable with yourself.
E.You might buy a book on body language and work on that first.
F.Instead, pick a goal that is challenging but able to do and specific.
G.Generally, those who share the same interests are more likely to become friends.
【答案】1.E 2.A 3.D 4.F 5.G
【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了提升社交技能的五大实用策略。
1.前文“Don’t try to improve all of your social skills at once. (不要试图一次性提升所有社交技能)”指出无法同时提升所有技能,后文“After you feel comfortable in your understanding of body language, you might read a guide on small talk and practice that next. (在理解肢体语言感到自如后,可以阅读闲聊指南并练习)”提及理解肢体语言后练习闲聊,此处需建议首先提升肢体语言的技能,因此E项“You might buy a book on body language and work on that first. (你可以先买一本关于肢体语言的书并重点练习这个)”符合语境,承接前文,和后文构成先后顺序。故选E。
2.后文“Talk with people while carrying out daily activities at school, work or at any other place. Communication is powerful and as you enter into more conversations, you will become more experienced in chatting. (在校园、职场或任何日常场合中主动与人交谈。沟通具有强大力量,随着对话经验的积累,你的社交能力会越发纯熟)”主要建议在日常生活中主动与人交谈,提升社交能力,此处是段落标题,需建议与人对话交流,且需和其他段落标题一样使用祈使句的形式,因此A项“Get involved in conversations. (参与对话交流)”符合语境,契合后文内容。故选A。
3.本段标题是“Be relaxed and confident around people. (与人相处要放松自信)”,后文“You can help grow this feeling by building your sense of self-worth and finding your inner-strength. (你可以通过增强自我价值感和发掘内在力量,来培养这种自信的感觉)”给出培养自信感的具体方法,此处是段首句,需点明自信在与人相处时的重要性,因此D项“People like it when you are comfortable with yourself. (人们喜欢与你相处时你表现自如的状态)”符合语境,呼应标题,引出后文。故选D。
4.前文“Trying to “improve your social skills” is such a broad goal that it is hard to see progress towards it and it is easy to get discouraged. (“提升社交能力”这个目标过于宽泛,既难以看到进步,又容易让人丧失信心)”指出目标不能太宽泛,后文“For instance, you might decide “I want to successfully join a conversation at a party.” (例如,你可以设定这样的具体目标:“我要在派对上成功加入一次对话。”)”举例说明如何设立具体目标,此处需建议设立的目标应具体,因此F项“Instead, pick a goal that is challenging but able to do and specific. (相反,选择一个有挑战性但可实现的具体目标)”符合语境,和前文构成转折,后文是对其例证。故选F。
5.前文“Why do you think you see a lot of friends are people who share something in common? For example, the basketball group, the football group, the video games group. (为什么你发现很多朋友都是与自己有共同点的人?例如篮球小组、足球小组、电子游戏小组这些兴趣团体)”指出朋友往往有共同点,给出兴趣团体的案例,后文“So if you love football then talk about football. (因此如果你热爱足球,那就多聊聊足球相关的话题)”建议去谈自己感兴趣的话题,此处需解释共同兴趣对友谊的作用,因此G项“Generally, those who share the same interests are more likely to become friends. (通常,有共同兴趣的人更容易成为朋友)”符合语境,承前启后。故选G。
