Teaching Methods Personal Story Sharing Listening Comprehension & Sequencing Event Discussion with “when” and “while” Teaching Aids Textbook, blackboard, multimedia, audio player Teaching Procedure I. Warm - up & Personal Story Sharing (7 mins) Daily Question Ask students: “Have you ever been late for or missed an important event (like a party, exam, or game)? What happened? ” Let 3 - 4 students share their stories, encouraging the use of the past continuous tense: “I was walking to school when I realized I forgot my homework...”. Lead - in to 1a Say: “Today, we’ll talk about events we missed and practice telling stories with the past continuous tense, just like you did.” II. 1a Activity – Storytelling Practice (8 mins) Instruction Explain 1a: “Think of a time you were late or couldn’t go to an event. Let’s listen to find out what happened.” Present 1b questions: What event happened at the school yesterday? Who missed the event? Which team won at the event? Ask students to predict answers based on the context. While - listening (1b & 1c) Play the 1b audio. Tell students: “Listen and answer the questions in 1b.” Play the audio again for 1c. Instruct students: “Number the events [1–6] in the order they happened. Pay attention to the sequence of actions (past continuous and simple past).” Post - listening Check 1b answers: A school basketball competition. Kate. The other team (or as per audio content). Check 1c answers (event sequencing): Kate left the house (1) Kate realized her bag was still at home. Kate got to the bus stop. Kate saw a dog by the side of the road. IV. 1d Activity – Discussing Kate’s Missed Event (12 mins) Instruction Explain 1d: “Talk about why Kate missed the school basketball competition. Use ‘when’ and ‘while’ to connect events. B: When the school basketball competition started, Kate was still making her way to school. Student Activity Students pair up and practice completing sentences using “when” and “while”.
