比如一篇讲述克服困难学习绘画的文章,首句可能是 “Since I was a little girl, I have been fascinated by the world of colors and lines in paintings.”,从这句我们能知道文章围绕作者与绘画的故事展开。
比如前文提到 “I bought a beautiful flower yesterday. The ____ smells so sweet.”,根据前文的 “flower” 可知这里应填 “flower” 的同源词 “flower's fragrance”(花的香味) ,属于同源词复现。
比如 “The book ____ I bought yesterday is very interesting.”,这里考查定语从句的引导词,根据句子结构,先行词 “book” 在从句中作宾语,所以可以填 “that”“which” 或省略引导词。
像 “He is always ____ of others. He often helps those in need.”,根据后一句 “他经常帮助有需要的人” 可知,这里应填 “considerate”(体贴的,考虑周到的),体现他对别人的关心,这是从词汇意义和语境搭配来判断。
例如 “I was very hungry. So I went to the ____ to buy some food.”,结合前文 “饿了”,很容易从上下文推出这里应填 “store” 或 “restaurant” 等表示能买到食物的地方。
比如 “It was raining heavily. She forgot to bring an umbrella, so she got ____.”,根据常识,下雨没带伞会被淋湿,所以填 “wet”。
如 “Last summer, I had an unforgettable experience during my vacation.”
例如 “He was very nervous before the exam. But when he saw the first question, he felt a little ____.”,后文可能会描述他答题顺利等内容,所以这里可以推断他看到第一题后会感觉 “relieved”(宽慰的) ,这是根据后文暗示得出答案。
◦ 表示逻辑关系:thus, therefore, so(因果关系);but, however, while, on the other hand, although(转折关系)等。例如 “He worked very hard. Therefore, he got good grades.”,通过 “therefore” 我们能明确前后的因果逻辑。
◦ 表示递进关系:besides, what’s more, furthermore等 。如 “He is good at math. Besides, he is also excellent in physics.”
◦ 表示事件关系:meanwhile, before, when, until, later等 。“He was doing his homework. Meanwhile, his mother was cooking dinner.”
I like reading books. The books can bring me a lot of knowledge.”
◦ 近义词复现:“He is always energetic. He has a lot of ____ every day.”
◦ 反义词复现:“The question seems easy, but in fact it is quite ____.”
例如 “It is very cold in winter. People usually wear ____ clothes.”
如 “look forward to”(期待),“be good at”(擅长),“make a decision”(做决定)等 。“I am looking forward to ____ (hear) from you.”,这里就要用 “hearing”,因为 “look forward to” 中 “to” 是介词,后接动名词。
