Its rise to global fame (名气) has been covered widely, but never before has the public gotten such a close look at what it was like on the inside as with Eyes of the Storm, an exhibition based on a book of the same title featuring over 250 unpublished pictures of its founding member. The exhibit lasts from May 3 to August 18. “Cindy Sherman” at Hauser & Wirth On January 18, Hauser & Wirth’s downtown location in New York City will feature a show celebrating artist Cindy Sherman’s 30 brand-new works. The area is particularly special for her — her “Untitled Film Stills” debuted (首次亮相) in SoHo’s Artists Space during the late 1970s, kick-starting her decades-long career. “Crafting Modernity” at the Museum of Modern Art Featuring more than 300 pieces, including ceramics, textiles, furniture and posters, the exhibition aims to demonstrate how Latin American designers combined their local traditions and creativity to make objects that are reflective of their cultures. The exhibit is on view from March 8 to September 22. “Don’t Touch My Hair” at Hannah Traore Gallery Opening on June 6, it is all about hair: its place in society, the way it’s represented in pop culture, and its significance to individuals. Through the eyes of 18 artists, body hair, hair tools, objects made with hair, and representations of hair are shown in paintings, photographs, and sculptures. 21. What does “Eyes of the Storm” feature? A. Personal photos not made public. B. Founding members of a band. C. The hidden history of a great band. D. A book written by a band member. 22. What can be learned about “Cindy Sherman”? A. It is an event that will last decades. B. It is similar to “Untitled Film Stills”. C. It is held where the artist’s career began. D. It is to celebrate the artist’s 30-year work. 23. What do the last two exhibits have in common? A. They break with tradition. B. They cover diverse art forms. C. They take place in summer. D. They reflect cultural exchanges. B My son used to play every team sport he could. Sometime around sixth grade, he noticed he wasn’t so good at most team sports he played, and he went from a boy who loved being with his friends and playing baseball or basketball for the love of it, to a very self-conscious child who felt like he didn’t measure up. It wasn’t long before he stopped joining any teams. Of course, I encouraged him to be active, and tried to make him see the importance of still doing things he loved even if he wasn’t great. I had always thought my kid would be involved in organized team sports through high school. And I’m glad I didn’t push him. It wasn’t long before he started showing an interest in biking, so I helped him sign up for a bike-building course, which was more exciting for him than hitting a home run. He goes to work with his father during school vacations and during the weekends and is learning the plumbing (管道系统) trade. He isn’t winning awards, he doesn’t get credit or recognition, and colleges won’t look at biking and plumbing the way they would if he were a talented basketball player, but I don’t care and neither does he. When our kids are in their element, that’s all that matters. My son is much happier when he bikes with his father, than he would be if I forced him to be on the basketball court and that’s what our kids will keep; that’s how they will figure out who they are. It’s okay if what excites them doesn’t match common expectations or can’t be measured by the score. And as parents, it’s okay if our kids aren’t going along with the crowd; we need to give them the time and space to figure out their passions on their own. 24. Why did the author’s son quit team sports? A. He fell short of others’ expectations. B. He wanted to stay more with friends. C. He lost interest in physical activities. D. He felt he wasn’t as skilled as others. 25. What was the author’s attitude towards her son’s decision? A. Disappointed. B. Doubtful. C. Excited. D. Supportive. 26. How did the son become joyful again? A. By working part-time. B. By following his heart. C. By escaping from sports. D. By getting some recognition. 27. What does the author suggest to parents? A. Communicating with kids. B. Sparing some time for themselves. C. Respecting kids’ individuality. D. Figuring out kids’ real strengths. C It’s April 1, 1911, and 32-year-old Albert Einstein sits on a train with his family. They are travelling from Zurich to Prague, where Einstein has landed a job as a full professor of theoretical physics. He has a few things on his mind, including money troubles, but the most critical is his unfinished theory of relativity. When they leave the city 15 months later, Einstein will have cracked the code. What happens over this long, unusual year in Prague is the question driving Ken Krimstein’s new novel Einstein in Kafkaland — part biography (传记), part historical fiction. Krimstein playfully explores the possibilities, building, with footnotes, on a thorough collection of letters, diaries, and other research. The result is an enjoyable, inspiring read made up of comics. Krimstein also pairs Einstein’s story with that of Franz Kafka, who was 28, virtually unpublished. What ties the two together, in addition to a meeting at a club, is a preoccupation with getting at the truth — “the true truth”. During Einstein’s time in Prague, a time in which he works out his theory of relativity, Kafka will have his own breakthrough. In one long feverish night he will pen the short story The Judgment, which will launch an unequaled writing career forever transforming art and literature. Like Einstein’s completed, theory, Kafka’s work, too, will offer the world a new way of thinking. Despite having two characters’ names in his title, Krimstein centers mainly on Einstein, and takes us step by step through the meditations (沉思) that lead to his discovery. Nevertheless, along the way he provides readers with a glimpse (一瞥) into the life of Kafka. But what Kafka’s presence most crucially enables are imagined conversations between him and Einstein, where the two think hard about what it means to see the world differently from everyone else. At its heart, Einstein in Kafkaland is the story of ordinary genius. It unwraps the ways in which genius so often arises out of ordinary circumstances. Perhaps even more absorbingly, the book tracks how unimaginable discoveries develop following exchanges with others. 28. What does the underlined part “cracked the code” in paragraph 1 refer to? A. Had a different mission. B. Completed the theory of relativity. C. Solved his financial troubles. D. Gained insight into theoretical physics. 29. Which words can best describe Einstein’s stay in Prague? A. Eventful but unequaled. B. Well-planned and enjoyable. C. Rewarding and impactful. D. Short-term but transformative. 30. How does Krimstein deal with Einstein in Kafkaland? A. He makes it focus unevenly. B. He writes it in a biographical style. C. He gives it an appealing title. D. He includes many conversations in it. 31. Where is the text most probably taken from? A. An introduction to a book. B. An essay on Einstein’s life. C. A fantasy about a travel. D. A review of Prague’s literature. D A team of Chinese scientists recently invented a micro-motion sensor that allows people to control devices and type text by blinking (眨眼睛). The sensor is fixed to special eyeglasses and applied through two real-time human-machine interfaces — a smart home control system and a wireless hands-free typing system It makes direct contact with the wearer’s skin around the eyes and responds to changes in pressure when the wearer blinks intentionally to trigger (触发) a computer response. “It is like a third hand,” said Professor Hu, who led the research. She said the sensor can help people control devices when both hands are occupied, or help people with disabilities to communicate and perform daily tasks. In the new study, Hu and her colleagues designed the sensor based on what’s called a triboelectric nanogenerator — or TENG — to detect the motion of the skin around the corners of eyes, which has never been considered as a good trigger signal source. When the TENG sensor is attached to the glasses, the minute muscle movement of a closing eye momentarily pushes the sensor’s layers together, generating an electrical signal that can be reliably measured. It is super-sensitive, stable, easy and cheap. The team is now applying for a patent in China and overseas. In the near future, they expect to see it on the market. The sensor can initiate tasks such as turning a light on or off. When the glasses are connected to a computer screen, the wearer can blink as a cursor (光标) passes over different keys, typing out words. “This TENG-based micro-motion sensor is distinct and unique in its fundamental mechanism, which provides a novel design concept for intelligent sensor techniques and shows great potential for application in human-machine interfaces,” said Hu. “For our next step, we would like to explore the great potential of TENG sensors in intelligent robots.” 32. Which aspect of the sensor is paragraph 2 mainly about? A. Its operation process. B. Its working principles. C. Its practical applications. D. Its theoretical foundation. 33. Who can benefit from the sensor according to Professor Hu? A. A blind teenager desiring to see the light. B. A boy wanting to chat with friends overseas. C. A secretary incapable of typing words rapidly. D. A lady unable to open the door with full hands. 34. What does the author say about the TENG sensor? A. It is responsive and affordable. B. It keeps track of eye movements. C. It is bound to be commercialized. D. It appears to be the best of its kind. 35. What’s the future research direction for Professor Hu’s team? A. Creating novel human machine interfaces. B. Enhancing wireless communication systems. C. Applying their sensors to smart machines. D. Equipping glasses with micro-motion sensors. Knowing another language opens doors for kids and adults alike. But most educators agree that childhood is the ideal time for language learning. If you want your children to be bilingual (双语的), here is where to start. You should be flexible and use the method working best for your family. Some families favor “one parent, one language”. Some take on the task of learning a second language alongside their children. ____36____ Depending on your home situation, this can require a lot of planning, effort and persistence (坚持) on your part. You’d better use all of the resources at hand. While having back-and-forth conversations with native speakers is the most effective, there are lots of other ways. ____37____ Watching a favorite show or reading an interesting book in the non-dominant (非主导的) language can make learning enjoyable. You may also find classes and schools that teach in the language you want your children to learn. ____38____ Travel is one way to engage your kid in everyday situations that are meaningful and real. Exposure to the language in its real context can significantly boost a child’s interest in and understanding of the language. But time abroad is not a requirement for real interactions. ____39____ For example, your son can use Spanish when playing with his Spanish-speaking cousins. While you can always change the language learning plan if the path you’re on isn’t working, you shouldn’t get too discouraged when things aren’t happening as quickly as you might expect. ____40____ Language learning is a progressive and long-lasting process, and breakthroughs may come in unexpected ways and at different times for each individual. A. Know there’s a lot happening under the surface. B. Provide authentic opportunities for speaking practice. C. Individuals have different levels of fluency in each language. D. Introduce TV programs, songs and books in both languages to children. E And others use a mix of strategies to expose their kids to both languages. F. The morning sun was just rising, bathing the landscape in a warm, golden light. My bike was fully equipped, and I was filled with excitement and a bit of nervousness. I had trained hard for this, riding every weekend. But 100 kilometers was still a frightening challenge. The farthest I had biked before was only 60 kilometers. Still, I was young and energetic, and I knew I could do it. As the starting gun fired, the race started. I pedaled (骑) out of the starting point, the wind pushing against me. When I settled into my pace, a wave of optimism washed over me. With this pace, I felt confident that I could complete the challenging course within 4 hours. After about 10 kilometers, I caught up with a group of seasoned cyclists. Among them was a man in his mid-60s, striking me as particularly experienced. His calm and effortless riding style suggested he was an old hand at such rides. However, I passed him without a second thought; my focus didn’t change even a bit. As the kilometers passed, the course became more challenging, with harder climbs and increasingly winding roads. My legs started to ache, and my breath came in short gasps (喘息). The seasoned cyclists pulled ahead, and I found myself struggling to keep up. Gradually, my goal of completing the race in 4 hours slipped to 4 hours and 20 minutes, then 4 hours and 40 minutes. Around the 70-kilometer mark, exhaustion (筋疲力尽) set in. I had to stop and rest for a renewed burst of energy, but it wasn’t coming. Then rain began to fall, adding to my struggle. Feeling disheartened, I considered giving up. Just then, I got overtaken by the elderly man, who maintained his steady pace as before with ease. Not wanting to lose to an elderly man, I mounted my bike again. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ “You’re doing well. Keep it up!” the elderly man smiled as I biked alongside him. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 河北昌黎第一中学2025届高三下学期第八次飞跃考试 英语试卷 注意事项: 1. How much change will the man be given? A 22. C 23. 根据““Eyes of the Storm” at Brooklyn Museum”部分中的“an exhibition based on a book of the same title featuring over 250 unpublished pictures of its founding member(一个以同名书籍为基础的展览,展示了250多张其创始成员未发表的照片)”可知,该展览基于同名书,展示了乐队创始成员未发表的超过250张照片。 故选A。 根据““Cindy Sherman” at Hauser & Wirth”部分中的“ The area is particularly special for her — her “Untitled Film Stills” debuted (首次亮相) in SoHo’s Artists Space during the late 1970s, kick-starting her decades-long career.(对她而言,这个地方尤为特别——20世纪70年代末,她的《无题电影剧照》系列在苏荷区的艺术家空间首次亮相,开启了她长达数十年的职业生涯。)” 根据““Crafting Modernity” at the Museum of Modern Art”中的“Featuring more than 300 pieces, including ceramics, textiles, furniture and posters, the exhibition aims to demonstrate how Latin American designers combined their local traditions and creativity to make objects that are reflective of their cultures.(展览展出了300多件作品,包括陶瓷、纺织品、家具和海报,旨在展示拉丁美洲设计师如何将当地传统和创造力结合起来,制作出反映其文化的物品。)” 根据““Don’t Touch My Hair” at Hannah Traore Gallery”中的“Through the eyes of 18 artists, body hair, hair tools, objects made with hair, and representations of hair are shown in paintings, photographs, and sculptures.(通过18位艺术家的眼睛,体毛,头发工具,用头发制成的物品以及头发的表现形式被展示在绘画,照片和雕塑中。)” B。 B My son used to play every team sport he could. D 25. D 26. B 27. 根据第一段中“Sometime around sixth grade, he noticed he wasn’t so good at most team sports he played, and he went from a boy who loved being with his friends and playing baseball or basketball for the love of it, to a very self-conscious child who felt like he didn’t measure up. It wasn’t long before he stopped joining any teams.(大约六年级的时候,他注意到自己不太擅长所参加的团队运动,他从一个喜欢和朋友在一起,因为热爱而打棒球或篮球的男孩,变成了一个自我意识很强的孩子,觉得自己达不到别人的水平。不久之后,他就停止参加任何球队了)”可知,作者的儿子觉得自己不如别人擅长运动,所以退出了团队运动。故选D。 【25题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段中“Of course, I encouraged him to be active, and tried to make him see the importance of still doing things he loved even if he wasn’t great. I had always thought my kid would be involved in organized team sports through high school. And I’m glad I didn’t push him.(当然,我鼓励他保持活跃,并试图让他明白,即使他做得不是很好,做自己喜欢的事情也很重要。我一直以为我的孩子在高中时会一直参加有组织的团队运动。我很高兴我没有强迫他)”可推知,作者没有强迫她的儿子,对于儿子的决定是支持的。故选D。 【26题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“It wasn’t long before he started showing an interest in biking, so I helped him sign up for a bike-building course, which was more exciting for him than hitting a home run.(不久之后,他开始对骑自行车感兴趣,所以我帮他报名参加了一个自行车组装课程,这对他来说比打出本垒打还要令人兴奋)”以及第四段中“My son is much happier when he bikes with his father, than he would be if I forced him to be on the basketball court and that’s what our kids will keep; that’s how they will figure out who they are.(当我的儿子和他父亲一起骑自行车时,他比被我强迫去打篮球时快乐得多,这就是我们的孩子会保留的东西;这就是他们会弄清楚自己是谁的方式)”可知,作者的儿子是跟随自己的内心,做自己喜欢的事情而再次变得快乐的。 根据最后一段中“And as parents, it’s okay if our kids aren’t going along with the crowd; we need to give them the time and space to figure out their passions on their own.(作为父母,如果我们的孩子不跟从大众也没关系;我们需要给他们时间和空间,让他们自己去发现自己的激情所在)”可知,作者建议父母们要尊重孩子们的个性。故选C。 C It’s April 1, 1911, and 32-year-old Albert Einstein sits on a train with his family. B 29. C 30. A 31. 根据第一段中“He has a few things on his mind, including money troubles, but the most critical is his unfinished theory of relativity. When they leave the city 15 months later, Einstein will have cracked the code. (他脑子里有几件事,包括钱问题,但最重要的是他尚未完成的相对论。15个月后当他们离开这座城市时,爱因斯坦将cracked the code)”可知,在“cracked the code”前重点强调爱因斯坦未完成相对论,后文又提到15个月后的情况。由此推知,15个月后爱因斯坦是“完成”了相对论,划线短语cracked the code与B项“Completed the theory of relativity(完成了相对论)”同义。 根据第一段中“When they leave the city 15 months later, Einstein will have cracked the code.(15个月后当他们离开这座城市时,爱因斯坦将完成他的理论)”和第三段中“During Einstein’s time in Prague, a time in which he works out his theory of relativity, Kafka will have his own breakthrough. (在爱因斯坦在布拉格期间,他完成了相对论,而卡夫卡也将有自己的突破)”可知,在布拉格,爱因斯坦完成了他最重要的成就——相对论。由此推知,爱因斯坦在布拉格的停留富有成效且有重大影响力。故选C项。 【30题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段中“Despite having two characters’ names in his title, Krimstein centers mainly on Einstein, and takes us step by step through the meditations (沉思) that lead to his discovery. Nevertheless, along the way he provides readers with a glimpse (一瞥) into the life of Kafka. 故选A项。 根据第二段中“What happens over this long, unusual year in Prague is the question driving Ken Krimstein’s new novel Einstein in Kafkaland — part biography (传记), part historical fiction. (在布拉格这漫长而不寻常的一年里发生了什么,是肯·克里姆斯坦的新小说《爱因斯坦漫游卡夫卡仙境》所探讨的问题——这部小说部分是传记,部分是历史小说)”以及最后一段中“At its heart, Einstein in Kafkaland is the story of ordinary genius. It unwraps the ways in which genius so often arises out of ordinary circumstances. (《爱因斯坦漫游卡夫卡仙境》的核心是讲述一个平凡天才的故事。它揭示了天才往往是在普通环境中诞生的方式)”可知,本文主要介绍了Ken Krimstein的新小说《爱因斯坦漫游卡夫卡仙境》。由此推知,文章最可能选自对一本书的介绍。故选A项。 D A team of Chinese scientists recently invented a micro-motion sensor that allows people to control devices and type text by blinking (眨眼睛). The sensor is fixed to special eyeglasses and applied through two real-time human-machine interfaces — a smart home control system and a wireless hands-free typing system. It makes direct contact with the wearer’s skin around the eyes and responds to changes in pressure when the wearer blinks intentionally to trigger (触发) a computer response. It makes direct contact with the wearer’s skin around the eyes and responds to changes in pressure when the wearer blinks intentionally to trigger (触发) a computer response.(传感器固定在特殊的眼镜上,并通过两个实时人机交互界面——智能家居控制系统和无线免提打字系统来应用。 根据第三段中“She said the sensor can help people control devices when both hands are occupied, or help people with disabilities to communicate and perform daily tasks.(她说,这种传感器可以帮助双手忙碌的人控制设备,或者帮助残疾人交流和完成日常任务)”可知,胡教授认为这种传感器可以帮助双手忙碌的人控制设备。 根据第四段中“It is super-sensitive, stable, easy and cheap.(它超级敏感、稳定、简单且便宜)”可知,作者认为TENG传感器反应灵敏且价格实惠。故选A项。 根据最后一段中“For our next step, we would like to explore the great potential of TENG sensors in intelligent robots.(作为我们的下一步,我们想探索TENG传感器在智能机器人中的巨大潜力)”可知,胡教授团队未来的研究方向是将他们的传感器应用于智能机器。 Knowing another language opens doors for kids and adults alike. ____39____ For example your son can use Spanish when playing with his Spanish-speaking cousins. E. And others use a mix of strategies to expose their kids to both languages. F. Books can be used in a way that is developmentally appropriate for children. G. As a matter of fact, they can take place with relatives speaking the language. E 37. D 38. B 39. G 40. 【37题详解】 根据上文“You’d better use all of the resources at hand. While having back-and-forth conversations with native speakers is the most effective, there are lots of other ways.(你最好利用手边所有的资源。虽然与母语人士进行来回对话是最有效的,但还有很多其他方法)”以及后文“Watching a favorite show or reading an interesting book in the non-dominant (非主导的) language can make learning enjoyable. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Not wanting to lose to an elderly man, I mounted my bike again. Determination filled me as I pushed against the pedals and my muscles protested with every turn. I focused on the rhythm of my cycling trying to keep up with the steady pace of the elderly man ahead of me. Despite my earlier exhaustion, I gathered my strength and felt a renewed sense of purpose. My legs moved in harmony with my will to succeed. With each pedal, I pushed my physical limits. I closed our gap inch by inch and finally caught up with him. “You’re doing well. Keep it up!” the elderly man smiled as I biked alongside him. His encouragement was like a lighthouse, guiding me through the final stretch. Together, we crossed the finish line, not as competitors, but as friends sharing a journey. At that moment, a sense of accomplishment filled me. Not only had I completed the tough race but I had overcome the doubts that had clouded my mind, thanks to this stranger. He taught me age was no barrier to overcoming one’s limitations and that the true spirit of the race was not about winning, but about perseverance. 词汇激活 行为类 ①集中精力于:focus on→concentrate on ②聚集:gather→collect ③缩小差距:close our gap→narrow our gap 情绪类 ①成就感:a sense of accomplishment→a sense of achievement ②怀疑:doubt→disbelief 【点睛】【高分句型1】I focused on the rhythm of my cycling trying to keep up with the steady pace of the elderly man ahead of me.
