课时梯级训练(十六) Section Ⅳ Writing Ⅰ.阅读理解 (2025·郑州高一检测)I live in New York City and my neighbours are people I don't know.My city, neighbourhood and block are filled with people who don't know me, don't care to know me, and don't talk to me.I find that it's pretty hard to love people you don't even know. And sometimes, we all, myself included, use that as an excuse not to try.I read Brendan's story recently and was moved. One day, Brendan, a young man in New York was on the way back to his Brooklyn apartment when a homeless woman called Jackie asked him for money. He said that he had no money.By the end of the week, she asked two more times, and each time he answered “No”.The woman looked sad, so Brendan said, “I am on my way to a job interview. If I get the job, I'll take you out for lunch.” Brendan got the job.He took Jackie out for lunch. That was when their friendship began. They built a strong friendship by supporting each other and spending their birthdays, holidays and difficult times together, over a period of eight years. When Brendan's heater broke, Jackie made a blanket for him.Two days later when he told her that he had lost his job, she left and returned minutes later, bringing him food to eat.She continued to do that during the whole winter.Even with so little, she often gave back. Over these years, Jackie moved from the streets and subway stations into a halfway house, and is now moving into an apartment. To celebrate it,_Brendan wanted to do something special for Jackie. He went with her and helped her to pick out everything she would need for her new apartment. May Brendan's story encourage us to find a new way to honour, serve and love the people around us. 1.What can we learn about the author from Paragraph 1? A.He often stays indoors. Above all, why not ask people their likes and dislikes? If you do this, you'll find classmates with the same interests.Next, I advise you should join in discussions and show interest in other people's ideas. That way, it's easy to get to know different people and let them see you are friendly.Last but not least, it would be a good idea if you could smile as often as you can.As we all know, a smile can help break the ice.By doing this, you will make new friends gradually.I hope you will find these ideas useful. Hope to hear of your good news. Yours, Li Hua Ⅳ.读后续写 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 There were once two boys who were very good friends.Their names were Arman and Batoor.Arman and Batoor would always play together after school on the basketball court close to where they lived. One day, two bullies came to the basketball court, and one of the bullies stole their basketball.“This is ours now,” said a bully. “And you are never getting it back,” said the other bully. Then the bullies started pushing the two boys and Arman fell down and suddenly became very frightened.Without thinking, the young boy jumped to his feet and ran home without once looking back to see if his friend Batoor was also able to run away. But Batoor was not so lucky, and anyway, he did not like being bullied and refused to run away. But the boys were bigger and stronger than Batoor and they hit him and kicked him. “That will teach you,” said the bullies. And with that, the bullies walked away, leaving poor Batoor to walk home alone. The next day, when Arman met Batoor in the playground at school, he was very sorry when he saw what the bullies had done to his good friend. “I cannot believe you ran away and left me all alone!” said Batoor.“What kind of a friend acts like that?” Although Arman tried to apologise, Batoor was very angry and did not want to forgive his friend. Arman felt terrible about running away, and now he had lost his best friend because of his action. Batoor's mother bought him a new basketball, and because the boy decided not to have his life ruled over by bullies, he returned to the basketball court the following day and played alone. Just as he was practising, he heard a voice behind him. “I see we are going to have to teach you another lesson,” said the voice.“And I see that you have another basketball for us to take,” said the other. And when Batoor turned around, sure enough, the two bullies were walking towards him.“Now hand over that basketball and we won't beat you so badly this time.” Just as Batoor was about to protest, another voice rang out loud and clear across the basketball court. 注意: 1.续写词数应为 150 左右; 2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。 Paragraph 1: “Get away from my friend,” called Arman.________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Batoor thanked his friend and forgave him for running away.________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ 【参考范文】 Paragraph 1: “Get away from my friend,” called Arman. This time Arman didn't run away.He bravely shouted at the bully. The two bullies came at him, but he did not flinch and positively defended his good friend. He argued with the two bullies, but they didn't listen.Instead, they struggled with Arman.By this time many other students came, as well as their teachers.Together, they sent the two bullies to the school peace room. Paragraph 2: Batoor thanked his friend and forgave him for running away.Arman apologized to Batoor for his last escape, and Batoor forgave Arman for his best friend's rescue. They became good friends again. They believe that when confronted with bullies, they can't choose to run away from them, but to fight evil.Positive energy will always compete with winning energy.Good will prevail over evil. 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
