M: Yes, anybody who wants to track storms should contact their local national weather service and go through a spotter training class. That’s the first step. For those who want to continue and conduct research, they should consider pursuing a degree related to it. W: How often do you go out tracking a storm? M: Well, we go to tornado Alley quite often, and we’re expecting this year’s sixth trip there next week. That’s about average, but it all depends on the season. 根据Tianmen Mountain下“Tianmen Mountain, the tallest peak in Zhangjiajie, stands tall at 1,518 meters. Its most famous attraction is the Tianmen Cave, a natural arch that spans over 100 meters wide and offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. The mountain also boasts a challenging glass walkway, offering visitors a thrilling walk above the clouds.(天门山是张家界的最高峰,高达1518米。它最著名的景点是天门洞,这是一个100多米宽的天然拱门,可以看到周围群山的壮丽景色。这座山还拥有一条具有挑战性的玻璃栈道,为游客提供了一次惊险的云端漫步)”可知,以平坦而无特色的风景而闻名不是天门山的特色。故选C项。 【22题详解】 细节理解题。根据Zhangjiajie National Forest Park下的“Its highlights include the “Avatar” Hallelujah Mountains, which were a filming location for the popular movie “Avatar”.(它的亮点包括“阿凡达”哈利路亚山脉,这是热门电影“阿凡达”的拍摄地)”可知,电影《阿凡达》是在张家界国家森林公园拍摄的。 根据Huangshi Village下的“Known for its traditional Tujia architecture, Huangshi Village offers a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of the local community. Visitors can enjoy the village’s peaceful atmosphere, admire the unique stone houses, and taste the delicious local cuisine.(黄石村以其传统的土家族建筑而闻名,让人们得以一窥当地社区丰富的文化遗产。游客可以享受村庄的宁静氛围,欣赏独特的石头房子,品尝美味的当地美食)”可知,游客在黄石村可以体验到张家界的传统的建筑和美食。故选B项。 B At my first lesson in Chinese calligraphy, my teacher told me plainly: “Now I will teach you how to write your name. And to make it beautiful.” I felt my breath catch. I was curious. Growing up in Singapore, I had an unusual relationship with my Chinese name. My parents are ethnically Chinese, so they asked fortune tellers to decide my name, aiming for maximum luck. As a result, I ended up with a nonsense and embarrassing name: Chen Yiwen, meaning, roughly, “old”, “barley (薏米)” and “warm”. When I arrived in America for college at 18, I put on an American accent and abandoned my Chinese name. When I moved to Hong Kong in 2021, after 14 years in the States, I decided to learn calligraphy. Why not get back in touch with my heritage? I thought. In calligraphy, the idea is to copy the old masters’ techniques, thereby refining your own. Every week, though, my teacher would give uncomfortably on-the-nose assessments of my person. “You need to be braver,” he once observed. “Have confidence. Try to produce a bold stroke(笔画).” For years, I had prided myself on presenting an image of confidence, but my writing betrayed me. I was trying to make sense of this practice. You must visualize the word as it is to be written and leave a trace of yourself in it. As a bodily practice, calligraphy could go beyond its own cultural restrictions. Could it help me go beyond mine? My teacher once said to me, “When you look at the word, you see the body. Though a word on the page is two-dimensional, it contains multitudes, conveying the force you’ve applied, the energy of your grip, the arch of your spine.” I had been learning calligraphy to get in touch with my cultural roots, but what I was really seeking was a return to myself. Now I have sensed that the pleasure out of calligraphy allows me to know myself more fully. During a recent lesson, my teacher pointed at the word I had just finished, telling me: “This word is much better. I can see the choices you made, your calculations, your flow. Trust yourself. This word is yours.” He might as well have said, “This word is you.” 24. What did the author initially think of her name “Chen Yiwen”? A. It was lucky so she gladly accepted it. B. She felt proud of its symbolic meaning. C. She understood the intention but still disliked it. D. Its strange pronunciation made her embarrassed. 25. The author decided to learn calligraphy to ______. A. pick up a new hobby B. reconnect with her origin C. gain insights into a new culture D. fit in with local community 26. From the teacher’s words, the author learns that calligraphy ______. A. reflects the creator’s spirits B. comes from creative energy C. highlights the design of strokes D. depends on continuous practice 27. What does the author intend to tell us? A. Appreciate what our culture offers. B. Find beauty from your inner self. C. A great teacher leads you to truth. D. We are the sum of what we create. C 25. B 26. A 27. 根据第二段“My parents are ethnically Chinese, so they asked fortune tellers to decide my name, aiming for maximum luck. As a result, I ended up with a nonsense and embarrassing name: Chen Yiwen, meaning, roughly, “old”, “barley (薏米)” and “warm”.( 我的父母是华裔,所以他们请算命先生给我取名字,希望能给我带来最大的好运。于是,我给自己取了一个毫无意义又尴尬的名字:陈薏温,意思大致是“陈旧”、“薏米”、“温暖”)”可知, 作者认为自己的名字“Chen Yi wen”是无意义且令人尴尬的,虽然父母是为了追求最大的运气才取这个名字,但她还是不喜欢。故选C。 【25题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“When I moved to Hong Kong in 2021, after 14 years in the States, I decided to learn calligraphy. Why not get back in touch with my heritage? I thought.(当我在美国生活了14年后,于2021年搬到香港时,我决定学习书法。为什么不跟我的传统联系一下呢?我想)”可知,作者决定学习书法是为了重新接触自己的文化根源。故选B。 【26题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“During a recent lesson, my teacher pointed at the word I had just finished, telling me: “This word is much better. I can see the choices you made, your calculations, your flow. Trust yourself. This word is yours.” He might as well have said, “This word is you.”(在最近的一次课上,老师指着我刚完成的字对我说:“这个字好多了。我能看到你所做的选择,你的计算,你的心流。相信自己。这个词是你的。”他还不如说:“这个字就是你。”)”可推知,从老师的话中,作者了解到书法反映了创作者的精神。故选A。 通读全文,特别是根据最后一段“During a recent lesson, my teacher pointed at the word I had just finished, telling me: “This word is much better. I can see the choices you made, your calculations, your flow. Trust yourself. This word is yours.” He might as well have said, “This word is you.”(在最近的一次课上,老师指着我刚完成的字对我说:“这个字好多了。我能看到你所做的选择,你的计算,你的心流。相信自己。这个词是你的。”他还不如说:“这个字就是你。”)”可知,作者最初学习书法是为了 “接触文化遗产(get back in touch with my heritage)”,但过程中逐渐意识到 “what I was really seeking was a return to myself(我真正寻求的是回归自我)”,最终感悟到 “the pleasure out of calligraphy allows me to know myself more fully(书法带来的乐趣让我更全面地了解自己)”。 B。 C When instant cake mixes first appeared in the 1950s, American housewives were doubtful. These mixes, promising easy cake-baking, felt too easy. The manufacturers discovered that requiring the addition of an egg in the baking process was just enough to make the housewives happy with their work. The greater sense of effort gained from a little extra labor is believed to have been essential to the later success of the cake mix. This reflects the IKEA effect (宜家效应), which is identified by psychologist Michael I. Norton and his colleagues, suggesting we place greater value on things we have worked to create. They conducted four studies in which they asked participants to fold paper cranes and frogs, assemble IKEA boxes, and build sets of Legos. They then asked the builders to bid (出价) for their creations, and compared the prices with bids from people who hadn’t built them. The builders consistently outbid the non-builders. Interestingly, the IKEA effect works even when people have no opportunity to fully personalize their creations. While most participants’ folding skills left much to be desired, they loved their imperfectly personalized products all the more. Builders valued their wrinkled crane-like creations nearly five times as much as non-builders. Beauty, it seems, is in the eye of the builder. Today, as cities are suffering from severe housing crises, the IKEA effect can give us insight into the well-being benefits of a self-building approach to housing development. Projects like WikiHouse and the “half-a-house” approach pioneered by Alejandro Aravena’s architecture company Elemental are working to make housing more affordable and sustainable by making it easier for people to build and personalize their own homes. “The moment people are involved with their built environment, they have a totally different relationship to it,” WikiHouse co-founder Alastair Parvin explained. “When the roof starts leaking or a door starts creaking, they have the power to fix it themselves.” 28. What brought customers the joy of cake-baking according to paragraph 1? A. A better taste. B. An easy approach. C. A detailed recipe. D. An additional effort. 29. What does the underlined sentence in paragraph 3 imply? A. Creations are based on skills. B. Extra labor increases perceived value. C. Beauty is found through contrast. D. Strict management brings good quality. 30. What is Alastair Parvin’s attitude towards public involvement in housing? A. Critical. B. Objective. C. Doubtful. D. Supportive. 31. What’s the purpose of this text? A. To promote a brand. B. To make a proposal. C. To explain a concept. D. To introduce a study. D 29. B 30. D 31. 根据第一段“The manufacturers discovered that requiring the addition of an egg in the baking process was just enough to make the housewives happy with their work. The greater sense of effort gained from a little extra labor is believed to have been essential to the later success of the cake mix.(制造商发现,在烘焙过程中加入一个鸡蛋就足以让主妇们对自己的工作感到满意。从一点点额外的劳动中获得的更大的努力感被认为是蛋糕粉后来成功的关键)”可知,额外的努力给顾客带来了蛋糕烘焙的乐趣。故选D项。 【29题详解】 词句猜测题。根据前文“Interestingly, the IKEA effect works even when people have no opportunity to fully personalize their creations. While most participants’ folding skills left much to be desired, they loved their imperfectly personalized products all the more. Builders valued their wrinkled crane-like creations nearly five times as much as non-builders.(有趣的是,即使人们没有机会完全个性化他们的作品,宜家效应也会起作用。虽然大多数参与者的折叠技巧还有很多不足之处,但他们更喜欢自己不完美的个性化产品。建筑商对他们皱巴巴的像起重机一样的创造物的估价几乎是非建筑商的五倍)”可知,本段主要讲述额外的劳动会让参与者更喜欢自己的作品,所以Beauty, it seems, is in the eye of the builder. 根据最后一段““The moment people are involved with their built environment, they have a totally different relationship to it,” WikiHouse co-founder Alastair Parvin explained. “When the roof starts leaking or a door starts creaking, they have the power to fix it themselves.”(WikiHouse的联合创始人Alastair Parvin解释说:“当人们参与到他们的建筑环境中时,他们与环境的关系就完全不同了。”“当屋顶开始漏水或门开始吱吱作响时,他们有能力自己修理。”)”可知,Alastair Parvin认为公众参与住房建设,他们与环境的关系就完全不同了,所以是持支持的态度。故选D项。 【31题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段“This reflects the IKEA effect (宜家效应), which is identified by psychologist Michael I. The builders consistently outbid the non-builders.(这反映了心理学家迈克尔·i·诺顿(Michael I. Norton)及其同事发现的宜家效应(IKEA effect),即我们更看重自己努力创造的东西。他们进行了四项研究,要求参与者折叠纸鹤和青蛙,组装宜家盒子,搭建乐高积木。然后,他们要求建筑商为他们的作品出价,并将价格与没有建造这些作品的人的出价进行比较。建筑商的出价始终高于非建筑商)”以及纵观全文可知,本文主要解释什么是宜家效应(IKEA effect),所以本文的目的是解释一个概念。故选C项。 D First-edition copies of Jane Austen’s completed novels are on display in the home where the beloved author spent years writing and revising. The rare books are part of a new Permanent exhibition, “Jane Austen and the Art of Writing”, at her family’s former cottage in Chawton, a village located some 50 miles from London. Austen lived in the house during the last eight years of her life. She wrote or revised all six of her completed novels there: Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Emma, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion. For the first time, all six first-edition novels will be on display together at Jane Austen’s House, which is now a museum. They include a copy of Emma, copies of Northanger Abbey and Persuasion, and a copy of Sense and Sensibility with the publisher’s original binding. The novels appear on display in a 12-sided case built for the new installation, a tribute to Austen’s small 12-sided wooden table she often worked at. They deserve it. The rare books are part of the museum’s preparations for the beloved author’s 250th birthday celebrations in December 2025. Lizzie Dunford, director of the museum, is excited for visitors to have the unique opportunity to be quite literally surrounded by the books and objects that influenced Austen. The show also features other objects from Austen’s life that are connected to her writing. Additionally, some of Austen’s letters are on view at the exhibition, which examines how her correspondence and love of letter-writing informed her fiction. Visitors will also see a film about The Watsons, one of Austen’s unfinished novels, and how the original manuscript (手稿) throws light on her writing process. “This exhibition is a deep dive into Jane Austen’s creative process,” says Sophie Reynolds, the head of collections, interpretation and engagement at the museum. “We hope that it will unlock a new way for our visitors to understand Jane Austen as a dedicated, driven and professional writer, and to explore how her life and living arrangements affected her writing in the very house in which she lived and wrote.” 32. What is the focus of the exhibition? A. The history of the museum. B. The life and works of Jane Austen. C. The design of Jane Austen’s House. D. The birth and evolution of English literature. 33. What does the underlined word “tribute” in paragraph 3 mean? A. Loss. B. Threat. C. Honor. D. Insurance. 34. What does Sophie Reynolds try to convey about the exhibition in the last paragraph? A. Its preparations. B. Its barriers. C. Its process. D. Its purpose. 35. What is the best title for the text? A. Reveal Jane Austen’s Family and Early Life. B. Jane Austen’s Original Letters Are on Show. C. Celebrate Jane Austen’s 250th Birthday with Exhibits. D. Jane Austen’s Finished and Unfinished Novels Are Published. B 33. C 34. D 35. 由文章第一段中“First-edition copies of Jane Austen’s completed novels are on display in the home where the beloved author spent years writing and revising. The rare books are part of a new Permanent exhibition, “Jane Austen and the Art of Writing”, at her family’s former cottage in Chawton, a village located some 50 miles from London. (简·奥斯汀已完成的小说的初版正在她生前居住、写作和修订多年的故居展出。这些珍贵的书籍是“简·奥斯汀与写作艺术”新常设展览的一部分,该展览在其家族位于肖顿(距伦敦约50英里的一个村庄)的旧居举行。)”可知,展览的重点是简·奥斯汀的生活和作品。故选B。 【33题详解】 词句猜测题。由文章第三段中“The novels appear on display in a 12-sided case built for the new installation, a tribute to Austen’s small 12-sided wooden table she often worked at. (这些小说被展示在一个为新装置而建的12边形展柜中,这是一种对于奥斯汀常用的那张小巧的12边形木桌的tribute。)”可知,这里是在说对奥斯汀的工作桌的一种敬意或纪念,因此tribute意为“敬意,荣誉”,与选项C“Honor (荣誉)”意思相符。故选C。 【34题详解】 推理判断题。由文章最后一段中“We hope that it will unlock a new way for our visitors to understand Jane Austen as a dedicated, driven and professional writer, and to explore how her life and living arrangements affected her writing in the very house in which she lived and wrote. (我们希望这能为游客开辟一条新的途径,让他们理解简·奥斯汀是一位敬业、专注且专业的作家,并探索她的生活和居住环境是如何在她生活和写作的这座房子里影响了她的创作。)”可知,这里Sophie Reynolds试图传达的是展览的目的,即让观众更深入地了解简·奥斯汀及其作品。故选D。 【35题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是由文章第一段中“First-edition copies of Jane Austen’s completed novels are on display in the home where the beloved author spent years writing and revising. The rare books are part of a new Permanent exhibition, “Jane Austen and the Art of Writing”, at her family’s former cottage in Chawton, a village located some 50 miles from London. (简·奥斯汀已完成的小说的初版正在她生前居住、写作和修订多年的故居展出。这些珍贵的书籍是“简·奥斯汀与写作艺术”新常设展览的一部分,该展览在其家族位于肖顿(距伦敦约50英里的一个村庄)的旧居举行。)”、第三段中“The rare books are part of the museum’s preparations for the beloved author’s 250th birthday celebrations in December 2025. Flash floods can strike without warning. In fact, I distrusted them greatly while growing up, and I still fear the ones I don’t know personally. What set my beliefs in stone was being attacked—not once but many times, including the summer after second grade when I was bitten by a rabbit. Then, when I was nine and riding my dirt bike down the road, a large dog charged me and tried to bite my ankle. After all those negative experiences, there was one thing I knew for sure: All creatures, great and small, were no friends of mine. After college in California, I returned to live the single life in Las Vega. Then I met Lisa. In no time at all, we fell in love, married and moved into a new house. Despite my avoidance of animals, Lisa had a dog called Bailey. Bailey didn’t like me, but he tolerated my existence once he realized I wasn’t going anywhere. Things changed as spring came. We welcomed a new member of our family: our son Evan. One evening Evan grabbed hold of the dog’s tail. The irritated dog paused and turned to look at his stuck tail but waited patiently until being released. Still the stories I’d heard of animals attacking babies worries me. Then my worst fear occurred. I sat on the couch (沙发) reading after a long day while my wife worked at the dining-room table paying the bills. I saw Evan crawl across the family-room carpet as he made his way behind the couch. One minute, all was quiet and then Bailey entered the room and headed to where Evan had crawled. I nearly jumped out of my skin when I heard the dog start a fearful barking behind me. Throwing the book away, I rushed around the couch with great fear. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Having witnessed our dog killing a scorpion (蝎子) and saving my son, I was speechless. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Throwing the book away, I rushed around the couch with great fear. The damn dog was barking directly at a huge scorpion in front of Evan’s chin. Evan lay on his belly, his head held high, frozen in fright as Bailey continued to bark at full volume mere inches away. The huge scorpion had its tail up and was prepared to strike. Without hesitation, the dog rushed to attack the scorpion and killed it with one bite. It was such a close call. Lisa scooped up our crying child. Having witnessed our dog killing a scorpion (蝎子) and saving my son, I was speechless. Unconsciously, tears rolled down my cheek. Without worry and fear any longer, I knelt down and gave that brave dog some kisses. Bailey seemed to have fully understood my feeling, he lay in my arms to comfort me. It was a crucial moment which showed how both human and beast can live in harmony. I had a new belief in love. It is that some animals are human’s good friends indeed. 词汇激活 行为类 ①冲:rushed/raced/hurried ②进攻:strike /attack /charge ③展示出:showed /displayed 情绪类 ①吓得僵住了:frozen in fright / frozen in terror ②千钧一发:a close call /a narrow escape 【点睛】[高分句型1]Evan lay on his belly, his head held high, frozen in fright as Bailey continued to bark at full volume mere inches away.(独立主格结构) [高分句型2]It is that some animals are human’s good friends indeed(表语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $这里是南京市第一中学、南京市金陵中学、南京市雨花台中学2024至2025学年度第二学期期末联考高二年级英语试题听力部分。 Then I just got a text from mum SHE says, if the traffic isn't bad, sh'll be here from the airport in about an hour. C A great teacher leads you to truth. D. We are the sum of what we create. C When instant cake mixes first appeared in the 1950s, American housewives were doubtful. D First-edition copies of Jane Austen’s completed novels are on display in the home where the beloved author spent years writing and revising. A Its preparations. D. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
