十二、节假日、文学与艺术 (Text 1) W: The Spring Festival is coming up. It's my favorite national holiday. I love the festive atmosphere. M: Same here! For those away from home, it's a great opportunity to spend time with family. I also like the traditional customs. It's a shame that many of them are disappearing. (Text 2) M: Ms. Bond, this is Maurice Martin from Red Publishing. We read over your book and have chosen it for publication. W: Oh, that's great to hear! I'm so honored. M: However, despite our interest, there are some problems that must be addressed. Nothing too major - mostly stylistic issues. (Text 3) M: I don't have the slightest idea what topic my literature paper should be about. W: You might find modern novels or 19th - century poems interesting. M: I've read several poems in translation, so that would be a good idea. W: I'll put you down for that topic. (Text 4) M: I'm going to spend Easter with you. W: That's great! I look forward to seeing you soon. (Text 5) W: Look at this when you were four years old. M: I looked stupid. Why was I dressed up in that silly costume? W: It was Halloween. Your dad and I wanted you to wear it to his company party. You were cute and we wanted to show you off. (Text 6) W: How did you spend your New Year's Eve? M: I did the countdown with my family. How about you? W: I worked until 9 p.m. and met some friends afterwards. M: You had to work on New Year's Eve! W: Yeah. I stayed up until midnight to extend my New Year's greetings to my friends. M: Then where are you going to spend it next year? W: No. I'm going to my parents' house. Do you have to work today, too? It's our annual tradition. (Text 7) M: Hi, Sue. Is there anything special Americans do on Thanksgiving? W: We typically roast a whole turkey and make lots of other dishes like potatoes and stuffing. M: Wow! Can your family eat all of that? W: We also invite our relatives over and celebrate this day together. M: It's like a family reunion. W: It is! And, pumpkin pie is usually the dessert because pumpkins are in season in the fall. M: It sounds like a nice tradition. Maybe I will roast a turkey this year. W: Good. I have many great recipes I can share with you. (Text 8) 2022 全国甲&乙 W: So Mr. Peter Cells, I'd be curious to know what were the early connections in your life that led you into the art field. M: My grandfather was an art dealer in Munich. They had a great museum in Munich. He took me to the museum, and I responded very strongly to what I saw on the walls there. I learned about art from him. I learned about looking at art from him. I think that's what really got me started. Then many years later, after I got out of the army. I went to study art history at the University of Chicago. W: Tell us more about your experiences of looking at art with your grandfather. M: Well, we looked at the famous paintings by the great artists like Rembrandt, Botticelli and Albrecht Dürer. Rubens' paintings were my favorites. Yes, I remember these things. This was when I was between 10 and 15. When I was 14, I was so anxious to see more art that a friend of mine and I bicycled across the Alps to see Venus. That was a big adventure. (Text 9) 2023全国甲&乙 W: So Robert, I guess you must be well into your third decade as a writer. How is life treating you? M: Fourth decade as a writer. Hmm, let me get my calculator out. Well, I guess I've been writing novels since the 1980s. So you're right. But I have been writing all my life. And to answer your question, life has been treating me excellently. W: Can I ask you about your childhood? Were you a bookish child? M: In a strange way, I was a non - reader till I turned 9. I used to play basketball in the schoolyards of Brooklyn. My father was a high school teacher of physics and chemistry. And he was a big reader. He would bring books back from his high school library. One day, I read the last chapter of a book, the title of which I've long since forgotten. I liked it so much that I started reading the remainder. Interestingly, I read the chapters backwards until I got to the beginning. I really loved the experience, and soon became an eager reader. Then my father would bring piles of books home from the library. And I would read them all, and they were all fiction. I must add that I started reading the books from the start, as opposed to working backwards. (Text 10) 2023全国甲&乙 M: Hello, I'm Maxim Vengerov, and I'm very happy to share with you my connection with Open Tchaikovsky Competition. It was June 1986 when I came to Moscow to participate in Open Tchaikovsky Competition at the age of 10 from Chelyabinsk. This was actually the turning point of my life. Then I attended a world music festival in Berlin. And it was interesting to say that a kid made his breakthrough already at the age of 10. And that was me. Now as a judge of the competition, I can see clearly the huge challenges facing the musicians in the competition. Where else can you see young players playing within ten days classical works and Russian traditional music before coming to the final stage? As a musician, it's important to give maximum attention and time to your own reflections of your own feelings. So, what I'm really looking for in the competition is to meet someone who can touch me musically. I want to see the seed, at least the seed of the great tree that can grow. I would go for this violinist. I would go for this musician. 1-5 AABCB 6-10 ACCBA 11-15 CBBAC 16-20 BBAAC 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 话题篇 十二、节假日、文学与艺术 话题词汇 节假日 festival and holiday 节假日 Christmas /ˈkrɪsməs/ n [C] & [U] 圣诞节 Easter /ˈiːstər/ n [C] & [U] 复活节 Halloween /ˌhæləʊˈiːn/ n [C] & [U] 万圣节前夕 Thanksgiving /ˌθæŋksˈɪvɪŋ/ n [C] & [U] 感恩节 New Year’s Eve 除夕 New Year’s Day 元旦 the Spring Festival 春节 national holiday 国定假日 date back to / date from 始于……;追溯到…… in memory / honor of 作为对……的纪念 celebration 庆祝活动 party activity 派对活动 tradition /trəˈdɪʃn/ n [C] & [U] 传统 custom /ˈkʌstəm/ n [C] & [U] 风俗;习惯;传统 celebrate /ˈselɪbreɪt/ vi & vt 庆祝 decorate /ˈdekəreɪt/ vi & vt 装扮 get together /ˈɡet təɡeðər/ n [C] [非正式] 聚会 gathering /ˈɡæðərɪŋ/ n [C] 聚会;集会 have / hold / throw a party 开派对 invite sb over / round 邀请某人来家里 extend / accept an invitation 发出 / 接受邀请 have a family reunion 家庭聚会 exchange greetings 互相问候 exchange gifts / presents 交换礼物 street activity 街头活动 stage /steɪdʒ/ vt 举办;举行 costume /ˈkɒstuːm/ n [C] & [U] 服装 parade /pəˈreɪd/ n [C] (庆祝) 游行 flag /flæɡ/ n [C] 旗帜 dress up 穿上盛装 marching performers 游行表演者 set / let off fireworks 放烟花 fireworks display 烟花表演 fireworks show 烟花秀 文学与艺术 文学(literature) types of works(作品类型) novel /ˈnɒvl/ n [C] (长篇) 小说 fiction /ˈfɪkʃn/ n [U] 小说 science fiction 科幻小说 storybook /ˈstɔːribʊk/ n [C] 儿童故事书;童话书 tale /teɪl/ n [C] (尤指充满惊险的) 故事 / 历险记 poem /ˈpəʊɪm/ n [C] 诗;韵文 poetry /ˈpəʊətri/ n [U] 诗歌;诗 rhyme /raɪm/ n [C] & [U] 押韵的短诗;押韵 essay /ˈeseɪ/ n [C] 论说文;小品文 biography /baɪˈɒɡrəfi/ n [C] & [U] 传记 (作品);传记文学 creating(创作) writer /ˈraɪtər/ n [C] 作家;作者 author /ˈɔːθər/ n [C] 作家;作者 dramatist /ˈdræmətɪst/ n [C] 剧作家;编剧 editor /ˈedɪtər/ n [C]主编/编辑;校订者 / 审校者 draft /ˈdrɑːft/ n [C] 草稿 chapter /ˈtʃæptər/ n [C] 章;篇;回 character /ˈkærəktər/ n [C] 人物;角色 hero /ˈhɪərəʊ/ n [C] 男主人公;男主角 heroine /ˈherəʊɪn/ n [C] 女主人公;女主角 theme /θiːm/ n [C] 主题;主题思想 be set in 以……为背景 release 发行 publish /ˈpʌblɪʃ/ vi & vt 出版;发行 publisher /ˈpʌblɪʃər/ n [C] 出版人;发行人 (或机构) publication /ˌpʌblɪˈkeɪʃn/ n [C] & [U]出版;出版物 issue /ˈɪʃuː/ n [C] 一期;期号 vt 出版;发表 copy /ˈkɒpi/ n [C]复印件/副本/复制品;一本/一册 limited edition /ˈlɪmɪtɪd ɪˈdɪʃn/ n [C] 限量版 bimonthly /ˌbaɪˈmʌnθli/ adj & adv 两月一次 (的);一月两次 (的) best-seller /ˈbest selər/ n [C] 畅销书;畅销书 page-turner /ˈpeɪdʒ tɜːnər/ n [C] 令人欲罢不能的书;扣人心弦的读物 bookish /ˈbʊkɪʃ/ adj 书呆子气的;学究似的 come out (书、唱片等) 推出 / 发行 get into print 被出版;被发表 be in print (书) 仍在印行 / 仍可买到 be out of print (书) 已绝版 / 已停印 subscribe to 订阅 a cheering read 令人愉悦的读物 a(n) big / eager reader 好读书的人 leaf / page through 匆匆翻阅;浏览 艺术(art) types of works(作品类型) fine art /ˈfaɪn ɑːt/ n [U] 美术 painting /ˈpeɪntɪŋ/ n [C] & [U] 油画;绘画 oil painting 油画;油画艺术 landscape /ˈlændskeɪp/ n [C] 乡村风景画 figure /ˈfɪɡjər/ n [C]雕像 / 塑像;人 / 动物 sculpture /ˈskʌlptʃər/ n雕像;雕塑品;雕刻术 statue /ˈstætʃuː/ n [C] 雕塑;雕像;塑像 calligraphy /kəˈlɪɡrəfi/ n [U] 书法;书法艺术 ballet /ˈbæleɪ/ n [U] 芭蕾舞 jazz /dʒæz/ n [U] 爵士乐 the blues 布鲁斯音乐 / 蓝调 rock and roll 摇滚乐 folk music 民间音乐 pop music 流行音乐 country music 乡村音乐 contemporary dance 当代舞 modern dance 现代舞 creating(创作) artist /ˈɑːtɪst/ n [C] 艺术家 painter /ˈpeɪntər/ n [C] 画家 musician /mjuˈzɪʃn/ n [C] 音乐家;作曲家;乐师 violinist /ˌvaɪəˈlɪnɪst/ n [C] 小提琴手;小提琴演奏家 harmony /ˈhɑːməni/ n [C] & [U] (音乐中的) 和声 dancer /ˈdænsər/ n [C] 跳舞者;舞蹈演员 paints /ˈpeɪnts/ n [复数] 绘画颜料 workshop /ˈwɜːrkʃɑːp/ n [C] 研讨会;讲习班 play musical instruments 弹奏乐器 exhibition(展览) exhibit /ɪɡˈzɪbɪt/ v展览;展出n [C] 展品;展览会 on display / exhibition 陈列;展出 art collection 艺术收藏品 art dealer 艺术品经销商 comment(评论) classical /ˈklæsɪkl/ adj 古典的;经典的;传统的 traditional /trəˈdɪʃənl/ adj 传统的 abstract /ˈæbstrækt/ adj 抽象 (派) 的 romantic /rəʊˈmæntɪk/ adj 浪漫的 realistic /ˌriːəˈlɪstɪk/ adj 逼真的;栩栩如生的 vivid /ˈvɪvɪd/ adj 生动的;逼真的 original /əˈrɪdʒənl/ adj原作的;真迹的;有独创性的 masterpiece /ˈmæstərpiːs/ n [C] 代表作;杰作;名著 inspire /ɪnˈspaɪər/ vt 激励;鼓舞;赋予灵感 inspiration /ˌɪnspəˈreɪʃn/ n [C] & [U] 灵感;给人以灵感的人 (或事物) beauty /ˈbjuːti/ n [U] 美;美丽 harmony /ˈhɑːməni/ n [C] & [U] 和谐;协调 come alive / come to life 生动起来 模拟训练 第一节 听下面5段对话。每段对话后有一个小题,从题中所给的A、B、C三个选项中选出最佳选项。听完每段对话后,你都有10秒钟的时间来回答有关小题和阅读下一小题。每段对话仅读一遍。 1. What does the man find disappointing?
