The critical thinking circle shows how this journey goes in a clear way. First, we use our senses to notice things and ask questions. Instead of accepting things without thinking, we ask why and how to learn more. Then we collect information from books, the internet or experts. Next, we look closely at the information we got, like solving a puzzle. We break IT into small pieces, understand the connections and put everything together to get a new understanding. Depending on this, we make decisions. After making a decision, we think about what went well and what didn't. This helps us improve our thinking. Finally, when we learn more things in, face new situations, we think about our decisions again and make corrections. In a word, the journey of critical thinking is a cycle of these eight steps. Every time we go through this cycle, we learn and grow. The journey of critical thinking. Critical thinking is like a never ending journey in our minds. It helps us make smarter decisions and understand the world better. The “Critical Thinking Circle” shows how this journey goes in a clear way. First, we use our senses to notice things and ask questions. Instead of accepting things without thinking, we ask “why” and “how” to learn more. Then, we collect information from books, the Internet, or experts. Next, we look closely at the information we got. Like solving a puzzle, we break it into small pieces, understand the connections, and put everything together to get a new understanding. Depending on this, we make decisions. After making a decision, we think about what went well and what didn’t. This helps us improve our thinking. Finally, when we learn more things and face new situations, we think about our decisions again and make corrections. In a word, the journey of critical thinking is a cycle of these eight steps. Every time we go through this cycle, we learn and grow. Sometimes people tell the truth but leave out important details, making their words misleading. This is called a half-truth. Although it is not a full lie, it can still be dishonest because it creates an untrue impression (印象) . Parents sometimes use half-truths to avoid upsetting their children or to make things seem better than they are. For example, a parent might say, “I’ve been too busy with work to help you.” It’s true that they’ve been busy, but they might leave out the fact that they also spent time watching TV or going out. While the words are true, they leave out important details that could change the child’s understanding of the situation. Students sometimes use half-truths to make themselves look better. For example, a student might say, “I finished all my homework on time and got an A!” This sounds great, but they leave out that they only finished one part of the homework on time and copied the rest. While it is true in part, it leaves out important details that would change how others see their effort. Advertisers also use half-truths to trick customers. For example, an advertisement might claim (声称), “Nine out of ten doctors suggest this medicine.” The truth is that they only asked ten doctors, and nine of them worked for this company. By leaving out this detail, the ad makes it seem like more trustworthy (值得信赖的) than it really is. Half-truths appear more often than we think. You’d better be careful! It’s a sad fact that sometimes the truth is used in a way that misleads or confuses people. While half-truths are not all lies, they can still cause people to believe something that isn’t completely true. REPORT Hi, everyone! I recently read an article. The writer tells us _________________________1______________________. People use half-truths ___________2__________.
