Sleep can improve your mood, keep your energy levels up and allow you to
concentrate better. As we know, newborn babies generally spend most of their time
sleeping.Sleep plays an important role in brain development in children, too.
The teenage years are an important time for the development of people's brains, but
they are also a time when children tend to start going to bed later and generally get less
sleep. To find out more about the effect sleep has on teenagers, researchers looked at data
from a latest study, which involved 3,222 teenagers who were given Fitbits-devices
)to monitor the body.Fitbits can tell when the wearer is asleep.
The children fell into three groups, with small differences in sleep times. The first
group slept seven hours and 10 minutes per night. The second group slept seven hours and
21 minutes. The third group slept seven hours and 25 minutes.Across the three groups,
there wasn't much difference in the performance of the children at school. However, when
it came to certain tests like reading and problem-solving,there was a difference.
Interestingly, group 3 did better than group 2,and group 2 did better than group 1.The
results suggest that good sleep can help the brain function better.
The study's author,Dr Wei Cheng said,"We need to look at why some children go to
bed later and sleep less than others. Is it because of playing video games or smartphones,or
is it just because their body clocks don't tell them it's time to sleep until later?"
28.What is the main purpose of the study?
A.To research the effects of sleep on teenager's brain.
B.To promote the use of Fitbit devices among teenagers.
C.To find out the relationship between sleep and physical growth.
D.To compare sleep patterns between newborn babies and teenagers.
29.How did the researchers monitor the children's sleep patterns?

A study has found fish similar to those in the movie Finding Nemo are shrinking(
小)to deal with ocean heatwaves..The research recorded clownfish(小丑鱼)reduced in
size sharply when ocean temperatures rose in 2023.The discovery was a big surprise and
could help explain the rapidly declining size of other fish in the world's oceans.
More evidence suggests animals are shape changing to deal with climate change,
including birds, lizards and insects."Nemos became small to survive these heat stress
events,"said Dr Theresa Rueger, senior lecturer at Newcastle University.
The researchers studied pairs of clownfish living in a hot spot of ocean biodiversity
and took multiple measurements of individual clownfish dealing with the heat. They found
the wild clownfish are almost the same as the ones in the movie Finding Nemo. When
temperatures rocketed in the oceans, the tiny fish didn't just lose weight but got shorter by
several millimetres, large areas of coral turning white during the heatwave.
Dr Rueger explained:"They're not just going on a diet and losing weight, but they're
actively making themselves into a smaller individual that needs less food and is more
efficient with oxygen."He also joked that a little bit of movie rewriting might be
necessary, with a new chapter ahead for Nemo."The movie told a really good story, but
the next chapter of the story surely is,how does Nemo deal with ongoing environmental
change?”

A.Fell.
B.Changed
C.Maintained
D.Increased.
34.What can we infer from Dr Rueger's joke?
A.He wants to rewrite the movie.
B.There are scientific mistakes in the movie.
C.Nemo's experience is not exciting enough
D.Next movie should focus on environmental changes.
35.What can we know from the last paragraph?
A.The population of ocean animals reduces sharply.
B.Some animals respond variously to climate change.
C.All animals have gradually changed their body sizes.
D.Warm-blooded animals adapt to global warming easily.
