Q
Researchers from Penn State University believe they have developed a flexible,sticker-
like wearable device able to understand even the most advanced poker face ()according to the
finding published last month in the journal Nano Letters. The wearable device analyzes the
tiny changes in physical responses to predict how a person is feeling.
The researchers set out to create a "multi-modal sensing"device that collected several
physical signals at the same time without interference ()To do that, the team designed
the small,sticker-like device made from thin layers of flexible metals, folded and cut into
wave-like shapes. Its flexible structure allows it to continue collecting real-time data even
when bent, stretched,or pulled.A rechargeable battery powers the device.
Once placed on the skin, the sensors check for changes in skin temperature, heart rate,
humidity (as expressed through sweat),and blood oxygen levels. Each of these signals can
be linked to emotions. While each signal alone gives limited information, the researchers say
measuring them all together in real time gives a much clearer picture of how a person feels.
This stream of data is changed into digital signals and sent to a phone or a computer. Then,a
special computer program analyzes the data to guess what emotion the person is
experiencing.
In an experiment with eight volunteers, people watched a series of videos that caused
feelings while wearing the sticker. They were instructed to make facial expressions for
emotions like happiness, fear, sadness, and anger. The device matched these expressions
with 92.28%accuracy )More importantly,it also found the emotional responses
with 88.83%accuracy when people watched the videos with no expressions on their faces.
高一英语试题第6页(共12页)
Though the sticker is still in the testing stages, researchers believe it could one day be a
particularly useful tool to help clinicians better understand the emotional state of non-verbal
patients.Early indications of mental health issues, which might otherwise go unnoticed,
could be treated professionally at an early stage before those situations worsen.
28.What is a feature of the device?
A.It is plastic-coated.
B.It is poker-sized.
C.It is solar-powered.
D.It is layer-structured.
29.What is Paragraph 3 mainly about regarding the device?
A.What it changes.
B.How it functions.
C.How it is developed.
D.What it is used for.
30.What do we know about the experiment?
A.It analyzed verbal responses.
B.It included sufficient subjects.
C.It showed trustworthy results.
D.It proved effective in medicine.
31.What can be a suitable title for the text?
A.A device:to analyze fitness data
B.A sticker:to read hidden emotions
C.A model:to replace human doctors
D.A sensor:to track facial expressions
D
Artificial intelligence(AI)is putting itself into our daily lives, from the moment we
unlock our phones with facial recognition to the recommendations that guide our music
playlists or online shopping.Understanding how this powerful technology will change our
daily activities and experiences is significant. But that isn't the whole picture. We also need to
pay close attention to how we build and shape AI itself, and what that process shows us
about ourselves.
Every AI system we create functions as a mirror, clearly reflecting our values and views.
Consider hiring algorithms ()In 2018,a large USA firm gave up an Al-powered hiring
tool after discovering it was one-sided against female applicants. The AI wasn't programmed
to differentiate, but it was trained on historical hiring data that favored men,and it learned
to reproduce these models. The use of AI systems in the police area, healthcare, and
高一英语试题第7页(共12页)
education reveals similar patterns. In all these cases,AI isn't creating new unfair opinions.
Instead,it is reflecting existing ones.
As long as AI is trained on human data,it will reflect human behavior. That means we
have to think carefully about the traces of ourselves we leave in the world.I may claim to
value privacy, but if I give it up in a heartbeat to access a website, the algorithms may make
a very different judgement of what I really want and what is good for me.If I claim to want
meaningful human connections yet spend more time on social media and less time in the
physical company of my friends,I am training AI models about the true nature of humanity.
AI not only reveals problems within the system, but also clearly shows people's inner
struggles. As AI grows stronger,we must try harder to make sure our actions follow our
principles.
As we continue to integrate (AI into our lives,we must recognize that these
systems don't just predict our behavior;they reflect our character.Reflecting on that
reflection allows us to make better, more principled choices, but only if we're willing to look
closely and take responsibility for what we see.
32.What does "the whole picture"mean in Paragraph 1?
A.The process of building and shaping Al.
B.The takeover of AI in our everyday life.
C.The dilemma of AI in decision-making.
D.The interplay between AI and humans.
33.What is the author's purpose in mentioning hiring algorithms?
A.To support an argument.
B.To state a phenomenon.
C.To showcase a practice.
D.To oppose an opinion.
34.What does the author advise us to do?
A.Hide emotional struggles.
Delete historical database.
C.Suit the action to the word.
D.Avoid AI in sensitive areas.
35.What does the underlined part"that reflection"in the last paragraph refer to?
A.AI melts into our lives.
B.AI mirrors our mindset.
C.We make wise choices.
D.We remain responsible.

Success isn't just about wealth and achievements.True success-deep and lasting-
comes from inside. It means feeling calm, staying strong, and living with purpose.36
To achieve this, you should practice the simple spiritual habits in your daily life.
Daily meditation (is a powerful way to start.Often, busy schedules make it easy to
focus too much on the outside world.Setting aside time for meditation creates a blessed
moment each day.Think of meditation as a daily check-in,a chance to pause, breathe, and
reflect.37 You can also benefit from reduced stress,a calmer mood,better focus,and a
stronger ability to recover from difficulties.
Maintaining a positive mindset is equally significant. It means seeing the bright side and
staying hopeful for the future.38 This becomes especially important during your darkest
moments. When things get tough, this mindset will give you the hope and courage to keep going.
Forgiveness is another necessary practice. When someone you care about hurts you,
holding onto grudges steals your joy and blocks spiritual growth.Forgiveness doesn't
mean forgetting what happened;it means letting go of anger.39 By doing so,you
inspire others to embrace forgiveness and also free yourself to move forward.
40 Studies show people active in groups often live longer, healthier, and happier
lives.Joining community clubs provides you with support and purpose.Seeking out groups
with like-minded individuals makes you feel at home. These connections promote belonging,
build relationships, and create a supportive network.
A.You can reconnect to yourself.
B.It's about building a meaningful life.
C.Thus the hate from your heart is removed.
L.Connecting with community betters your life.
E.A clear goal is key to achieving external success.
F.Optimism moves attention away from negative ideas.
G.Healthy eating and exercising improve your well-being.
