A The key to a happy life has nothing to do with getting ahead at work, making money, or traveling the world. Instead, living your best life and creating meaning are all about one thing: relationships. A study of adult development has been running at Harvard since 1938, and is now on its second generation of participants — the children of the original study’s subjects. Over decades, the research team have collected data about their lives, including their physical and mental health, marital status and quality, career happiness, and more. They found the most important factor in how happy and healthy these men were over time was their relationships. In other words, finding happiness in life is all about the people you love. The research doesn’t only include romantic relationships and marriage. Quality, close relationships are important whether they are in the context of romantic relationships or closeness between friends or family members. The kind of relationship you have is less important than how close you feel with them. However, the study only included men, and there’re important gender differences in how people experience relationships. Some research suggests that men may benefit more from marriage. But they tend to have a harder time keeping friendships; as men get older, they are more likely to say they have nobody to discuss important subjects with. So it’s possible that having close relationships throughout their lives might affect men differently from women. However, the findings line up with empirical (以试验为依据的) research on the effects of loneliness. People who are socially isolated have a greater likelihood of strokes (中风), heart attacks, and higher blood pressure, not to mention mental health issues. Unfortunately for the youngest generation, recent surveys found that young Americans are lonelier than older generations. That will likely have a big impact on how healthy and happy people feel throughout their lives. 1.What lesson can we learn from this passage? A.Travel far and wide to learn a lot. B.Keep an open mind to be creative. C.Treasure your time with your loved ones. D.Work hard to be the best of your profession. 2.Why is the youngest generation unfortunate? A.Because they have nobody to talk to. B.Because they are more socially isolated. C.Because they can’t keep their relationships. D.Because they suffer physically and mentally. 3.What is the best title for the passage? A.Close Relationships Make a Happy Life B.Men Look Forward to Close Relationships C.Close Relationships Ensure People’s Health D.Men and Women Differ in Keeping Relationships 【答案】1.C 2.B 3.A 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。 根据第三段的“They found the most important factor in how happy and healthy these men were over time was their relationships. In other words, finding happiness in life is all about the people you love. (他们发现,随着时间的推移,这些人的幸福和健康程度的最重要的方面是他们的人际关系。换句话说:生活中寻找幸福的关键在于你爱的人)”可知,要想获得幸福,人际关系非常重要,特别是与你爱的人的关系,因此推断,要珍惜与你爱的人在一起的时间。故选C项。 2.细节理解题。根据最后一段的“Unfortunately for the youngest generation, recent surveys found that young Americans are lonelier than older generations.(不幸的是,最近的调查发现,年轻一代的美国人比老一辈人更孤独。)” 通读全文并结合第三段“They found the most important aspect in how happy and healthy these men were over time was their relationships. In other words: Finding happiness in life is all about the people you love.(他们发现,随着时间的推移,这些人的幸福和健康程度的最重要的方面是他们的人际关系。换句话说:在生活中找到幸福是和你爱的人有关的。)”可知,文章主语讲述了研究表明人际关系对于幸福的重要的,特别是与你爱的人的关系,所以标题“亲密的关系使生活幸福”概括了本文的主题,适合作最佳标题。故选A项。 B The Art Centre at my school provides a wide range of programmes. I tried out most of the programmes offered on campus, and group fitness classes have been my favourite. They are free weekly classes taught and led by a student instructor, and they include yoga, cycle, weight-lifting and many more. I started taking group fitness classes in cardio dance(有氧舞蹈)as a freshman and showed interest in it after just one class. The class is 45 minutes long and consists of repetitive dance moves that are easy to follow. I have so much fun performing the dance moves and following the beat that my stress of the day is often washed away after the workout. My love for cardio dance gradually evolved into an idea: what if I became a cardio dance instructor and spread the fun to more people? Inspired by this idea, I signed up for a training programme for the group fitness instructor(GFI). We covered topics like how to design the class and how to perform first aid, etc. In addition to learning fitness knowledge, we also got to practise teaching the class, interacting(互动)with those who joined the class. As I learned more, I realized that becoming a GFI is not as easy as it seems. It takes a lot of practice to show proper form and make sure everyone in class is performing the right way. When asked why we signed up for the GFI course, some said that fitness classes are a relief from the stress of school, while others said that fitness classes make for a more positive community. Yet, the most popular reason is the love for group fitness classes themselves. I feel thankful to be a part of the fitness community and share my contributions with people who are always there to support and cheer you up. 4.What do we know about the group fitness classes the author took? A.They cost a lot and are taught once a month. B.She felt less stressed after taking the classes. C.The dance moves taught in class were hard to follow. D.She got interested in the course in her second year of school. 5.What does the underlined word “evolved” in Paragraph 2 mean? A.Developed. B.Ran. C.Escaped. D.Fell. 6.What can we learn from Paragraph 3? A.Expert knowledge is unnecessary for a GFI. B.A GFI needn’t communicate with others in class. C.Becoming a fitness instructor can be fun, but hard. D.Fitness knowledge is more important than practice. 7.What is the common reason for taking fitness classes? A.Love for fitness. B.Thanks for community partners. C.A relief from stress. D.Curiosity about the fit community. I have so much fun performing the dance moves and following the beat that my stress of the day is often washed away after the workout. My love for cardio dance gradually evolved into an idea: what if I became a cardio dance instructor and spread the fun to more people? 故选A项。 3. In addition to learning fitness knowledge, we also got to practise teaching the class, interacting with those who joined the class. As I learned more, I realized that becoming a GFI is not as easy as it seems. Yet, the most popular reason is the love for group fitness classes themselves. 故选 A 项。 C Sometimes I began to imagine: what if I were neighbors with all of my friends? The more I’ve thought about it, the more I believe: we should all live close to our friends. For the past century, the nuclear family, only including parents and children, has defined U.S. homes. But Americans lived with friends and extended family long before the nuclear family became common. Even now, this mode of living exists somewhere; think of college campuses, which tend to be the kind of walkable communities where you’re regularly running into pals on the street. While moving closer to friends would likely require a lot of efforts, doing so could actually be really good for you. Having supportive friends is connected with greater day-to-day happiness. Researchers have found that happiness spreads easily, especially among those who live close together. Friends living within a mile of each other are 25 percent more likely to feel happy, and their friends have a 10 percent chance of feeling happier too. Live around people who make you happy, and you might create a happiness circle that cheers up everyone around you. Having a pal around is also just practical. For people with kids, a friend in the neighborhood might be able to help with child care in times of need, saving you the cost of a last-minute babysitter. Those without children might welcome the chance to bond with friends’ kids. And for people who live alone, living closer to friends can make savings on some things easier. You might share household items you don’t need every day, for example. Whatever the reason, having more people you trust around will make it easier for you to get through difficult times. Many people are prepared to move for a new job, to be with a romantic partner, or even just for an adventure. Moving to be closer to friends should be no different. Friends are important to a good life. So why not shorten the distance between you and them? 8.Which was popular in the US before the nuclear family became common? A.The one-parent family. B.The extended family only. C.The college campus community. D.The family group with relatives and friends. 9.What do the percentages in Para. 3 show about living closer to friends? A.It spreads happiness among friends easily. B.It benefits one’s physical and mental health. C.It improves one’s awareness of family building. D.It increases one’s chances of making more new friends. 10.What is the practical advantage of living near friends? A.Greater personal growth. B.Lower living costs. C.More health care services. D.Better leisure activities. 11.What is the author's purpose in writing the passage? A.To advise living in nuclear families. B.To call on maintaining good friendships. C.To encourage people to live close to friends. D.To tell people how to turn friends into neighbors. 根据文章第二段“But Americans lived with friends and extended family long before the nuclear family became common.(但在核心家庭普及之前,美国人是和朋友及大家庭一起生活的。)” 根据文章第三段“Researchers have found that happiness spreads easily, especially among those who live close together. Friends living within a mile of each other are 25 percent more likely to feel happy, and their friends have a 10 percent chance of feeling happier too.(研究人员发现,幸福感很容易传播,尤其是在那些住得很近的人之间。住在一英里以内的朋友感到幸福的可能性增加了25%,他们的朋友感到更幸福的可能性也增加了10%。)”可知,这些百分比数据表明,与朋友住得近会让幸福感在朋友之间更容易传播。故选A。 10. 根据文章第四段“And for people who live alone, living closer to friends can make savings on some things easier. You might share household items you don’t need every day, for example.(对于独居的人来说,住得离朋友近一些可以更容易在一些事情上省钱。例如,你可以分享一些你不每天需要的家居用品。)”可知,与朋友住得近的实际好处是可以降低生活成本。故选B。 11.推理判断题。根据文章最后一段“Many people are prepared to move for a new job, to be with a romantic partner, or even just for an adventure. Moving to be closer to friends should be no different. Friends are important to a good life. So why not shorten the distance between you and them?(许多人准备为了新工作、与恋人在一起,甚至只是为了冒险而搬家。搬到离朋友更近的地方也应该如此。朋友对美好生活很重要。那么为什么不缩短你和他们之间的距离呢?)”可知,作者写这篇文章的目的是鼓励人们搬到离朋友更近的地方居住。故选C。 D The Internet offers us an opportunity to know more people (without actually needing to “know them”), with very little effort. But are online friendships the same as in-real-life (IRL) friendships? How people see online friendships and IRL friendships depends on their age. While digital immigrants (such as I) support scientist John Suler’s belief that people “separate their online lives from their offline lives”, the digital natives growing with Facebook and Instagram find differences between online and offline friendships more unclear. The Pew Research Center (PRC) finds that 57% of American teens make new friends online. But, it also finds that most “digital friendships” stay in the digital space with only 20% of teens having met an online friend in person. It seems that real-time friendships are considered more valuable than digital friendships even among the digital natives. Best friends meet most often at schools and homes, although online meetings come a close third. The reason why online friendships are placed below IRL friendships is the absence of physical intimacy (亲密). So, is the Internet bad for relationships? Obviously not. But for the net, I could have never kept in touch with or met my high school friend after a quarter of a century. But even if there is no physical separation, the digital native seems to find online interactions with real-life friends beneficial. 83% of teen social media users believe that social media makes them feel more connected to their friends’ lives. 78% of online gaming teens (mostly boys) feel more connected to existing friends with whom they play games. However, online interactions can have an adverse effect on existing relationships. 68% of teen social media users report having experienced unpleasant feelings toward their friends on social media and 26% of all teens have had an argument with a friend over something that happened online or over text messages. The Internet is undoubtedly an invaluable link between people separated by distance. But this link must be based on intimacy and familiarity and a balance of online and offline interactions will pave the way for better relationships in the world. 12.Which of the following may digital natives agree with? A.Online friendships are long-lasting. B.Online friendships just remain digital. C.Online friendships clearly differ from IRL ones. D.Online friendships are less valuable than IRL ones. 13.What does paragraph 4 mainly tell us? A.Why many teens choose online friendships. B.How real-life friends make online interactions. C.The influence of online interactions on teens’ lives. D.The benefits of online interactions to IRL friendships. 14.What does the underlined word “adverse” in paragraph 5 mean? A.Lasting. B.Harmful. C.Decisive. D.Noticeable. 15.What opinion does the author express in the last paragraph? A.The Internet is good for people’s relationships. B.Good relationships don’t exist without intimacy. C.It is good to balance online and offline communication. D.Honesty matters to both online and offline communication. 根据第三段“It seems that real-time friendships are considered more valuable than digital friendships even among the digital natives.(只有20%的青少年见过网友。即使在数字原住民中,实时友谊似乎也被认为比数字友谊更有价值。)”可知,数字原住民也认为实时友谊(IRL友谊)比数字友谊更有价值。故选D。 13.主旨大意题。根据文章第四段“So, is the Internet bad for relationships? Obviously not. But for the net, I could have never kept in touch with or met my high school friend after a quarter of a century. But even if there is no physical separation, the digital native seems to find online interactions with real-life friends beneficial. 83% of teen social media users believe that social media makes them feel more connected to their friends’ lives. 78% of online gaming teens (mostly boys) feel more connected to existing friends with whom they play games.(那么,网络对人际关系有害吗? 根据划线单词下文“68% of teen social media users report having experienced unpleasant feelings toward their friends on social media and 26% of all teens have had an argument with a friend over something that happened online or over text messages.(68%的青少年社交媒体用户报告说,他们在社交媒体上对朋友产生了不愉快的感觉,26%的青少年曾因为网上或短信上发生的事情与朋友发生过争吵。)” 根据文章最后一段“The Internet is undoubtedly an invaluable link between people separated by distance. But this link must be based on intimacy and familiarity and a balance of online and offline interactions will pave the way for better relationships in the world.(毫无疑问,互联网是连接相隔遥远的人们的宝贵纽带。但这种联系必须建立在亲密和熟悉的基础上,线上和线下互动的平衡将为世界上更好的关系铺平道路。)”可知,作者在最后首先强调了互联网作为人们之间无价联系的重要性,并说明这种联系必须建立在亲密和熟悉的基础上。最后,作者提出了一个解决方案,即平衡线上和线下的交流,以促进世界上更好的关系。所以作者在最后一段既强调了互联网在人际关系中的积极作用,又提出了实现更好关系的具体方法。故选C。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) Signs of Healthy Friendships Once in a while it’s helpful to see if your friendship is as healthy as it can be. You might get used to a friendship over time to the point where you don’t see the room for improvement. And since great friendships are priceless, you should always surround yourself with the kind of people who will lift your spirits, make you laugh, and remind (提醒) you that you are loved. 16 Here are characteristics (特征) that strong friendships share. 17 Friends make you feel comfortable with yourself, so you don’t need to act like someone you’re not. Your friends know your shortcomings and love you anyway. You are perhaps the “best version” of yourself when you’re with your friends. A healthy friendship includes plenty of gentle honesty. True friends won’t pretend just to avoid an argument (争论). 18 As a result, you’ll know where you stand with your friends and won’t be afraid to share your true opinions. They argue in a healthy way. One of the biggest misunderstandings about good friends is that they never fight. But let’s face it everyone fights. 19 In fact, voicing your opinions freely will cause you to disagree from time to time and that’s okay. Healthy friendships mean you can be friends with someone else, too. 20 That’s why great friends will improve your relationship yet still encourage you to meet people and try new things without them. A healthy friendship means that sometimes the two of you spend time apart, and that’s okay. A.Arguing isn’t unhealthy. B.Is your friendship as healthy as it can be? C.Good friends dine out together from time to time. D.Good friends are real and honest with each other. E.With an unhealthy friendship, you know clearly that something is “off”. F.Even if you have the best friend, it doesn’t hurt to expand your social circle. G.In a positive friendship, your friends won’t lie to you, and they won’t hurt your feelings either. 16.由上文中的“Once in a while it’s helpful to see if your friendship is as healthy as it can be.(偶尔看看你们的友谊是否健康是很有帮助的)”和下文“Here are characteristics (特征) that strong friendships share.(以下是牢固友谊共有的特征)”可知,B项“你们的友谊健康吗?”符合语境,起承上启下的作用,B项中的“as healthy as it can be”与上文中的“as healthy as it can be”呼应,故选B。 17.设空处为小标题;根据下文“so you don’t need to act like someone you’re not(所以你不需要表现得像别人一样)”以及“A healthy friendship includes plenty of gentle honesty.(健康的友谊包括大量温和的诚实)”可知,空处应是说好朋友之间应真诚相待,D项“好朋友彼此之间是真实和诚实的”能够概括主旨,故选D。 18.根据上文“A healthy friendship includes plenty of gentle honesty.(健康的友谊包括大量温和的诚实)”和下文“As a result, you’ll know where you stand with your friends and won’t be afraid to share your true opinions.(因此,你会知道你与朋友的立场,不会害怕分享你的真实观点)”可知,本段主要是关于朋友之间的诚实,G项“在一段积极的友谊中,你的朋友不会对你撒谎,也不会伤害你的感情”符合语境,故选G。 19.根据“They argue in a healthy way.(他们以健康的方式争吵)”以及下文“In fact, voicing your opinions freely will cause you to disagree from time to time and that’s okay.(事实上,自由地表达你的观点会导致你偶尔不同意,这没关系)”可知,健康的争吵没关系,A项“争吵并非不健康”符合语境,故选A。 20.根据“Healthy friendships mean you can be friends with someone else, too.(健康的友谊意味着你也可以和别人成为朋友)”以及下文“That’s why great friends will improve your relationship yet still encourage you to meet people and try new things without them.(这就是为什么好朋友会改善你的关系,但仍然鼓励你认识新的人,并尝试新的东西没有他们)”可知,健康的友谊意味着你也可以和别人成为朋友,好朋友会鼓励你认识新的人,F项“即使你有最好的朋友,扩大你的社交圈也无妨”符合语境,故选F。 When receiving the school’s only Excellent Teaching Award of the year, I just couldn’t keep my feelings under control. Different students hold different views. Some are in favour of homework in elementary school. They view it as a way for students to review what they are learning in school and develop good learning habits. Homework also helps students practice how to plan their time. However, others are against it. They argue homework occupies too much of students’ time, which can be used to do meaningful activities like reading and painting. Another reason is that homework causes great stress in students’ mentality. As far as I am concerned, homework serves an important purpose for elementary school students. If schools focus on highquality and enjoyable homework, students will benefit a lot from it. 词汇积累 看作:view→regard 占用:occupy→take up 导致:cause→result in 在我看来:as far as I am concerned→in my opinion 2. As far as I am concerned, homework serves an important purpose for elementary school students. Personally, I think homework serves an important purpose for elementary school students. 1】They view it as a way for students to review what they are learning in school and develop good learning habits.(运用了what引导的宾语从句) 【高分句型2】They argue homework occupies too much of students’ time, which can be used to do meaningful activities like reading and painting.(运用了which引导的非限制性定语从句) 【高分句型3】Another reason is that homework causes great stress in students’ mentality.(运用了that引导的表语从句) 第二节(满分25分) 47. I’m still surprised at the fact that my two-year-old brother, Baruch, taught me a lesson in empathy(同理心)and kindness, a lesson whose impact still has not lessened although the story took place many years ago. I only hope that someday I can make a difference in someone’s life as influential as the one that my little brother did on that beautiful summer day. There was a group of two-year-old children running around the yard on a summer day, without a care in the world. They seemed to be enjoying life as they played, making up their own games and activities, running in circles for the delight of it. They all chased each other, tumbling(跌倒), laughing and then getting up and tumbling again. I couldn’t help but smile at their youthful energy. Then I noticed a little girl damaging the perfection of the scene. She was Sarah, the child from next door, the same age as those running around my front yard. The only difference was that beautiful, charming Sarah had disabilities. She was developmentally challenged and not quite on the same level as her peers(同龄人). At two years old, Sarah was not yet walking. This did nothing to temper(减少)her joy, however, and Sarah was one of the most cheerful, enthusiastic children I had met. She crawled(爬)towards the group of children, trying to approach them with a smile of delight on her face, and showing that she was eager to participate in the fun. However, every time she sat on the sidelines, unable to participate in the running, her smile faded just a bit more. Paragraph 1: Sarah crawled desperately around in circles. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: ”Sarah, catch me!" Baruch shouted to her, __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Paragraph 1: Sarah crawled desperately around in circles. She was waiting for someone to notice her and include her in the fun. I couldn’t understand the depths of her pain, nor could I figure out what to do to ease that pain. It turns out that my two-year-old brother was much wiser than me. With a quick glance at Sarah, and without hesitation, Baruch was down on all fours and began crawling towards her. Paragraph 2: ”Sarah, catch me!" Baruch shouted to her, and then crawled away. Sarah’s face lit up, and in a second she was racing toward him. It took only a few seconds before the rest of the children joined. Gradually, Sarah drowned herself into happiness. All of them had a good time. Thanks to the thoughtfulness of Baruch, the girl with disability enjoyed a happy period instead of an embarrassing one. 词汇激活 行为类 ①注意到、看到:notice /spot ②明白:understand/comprehend ③减轻、缓解:ease /relieve ④喊:shout/yell ⑤参与:join/participate 情绪类 ①t痛苦:pain/suffering ②开心:happiness/joy 【点睛】[高分句型1] I couldn’t understand the depths of her pain, nor could I figure out what to do to ease that pain.(运用了否定词nor置于句首引起的部分倒装以及特殊疑问词what+不定式作宾语) [高分句型2] It turns out that my two-year-old brother was much wiser than me. A.Close Relationships Make a Happy Life B.Men Look Forward to Close Relationships C.Close Relationships Ensure People’s Health D.Men and Women Differ in Keeping Relationships B The Art Centre at my school provides a wide range of programmes. C Sometimes I began to imagine: what if I were neighbors with all of my friends? D The Internet offers us an opportunity to know more people (without actually needing to “know them”), with very little effort. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) Signs of Healthy Friendships Once in a while it’s helpful to see if your friendship is as healthy as it can be. 第二部分 语言运用(共二节, 满分30分) 第一节 完形填空(共15小题;每小题1分, 共15分) When receiving the school’s only Excellent Teaching Award of the year, I just couldn’t keep my feelings under control. Besides studying in class, I got a part-time job at a local coffee shop 36 location was not far from our school. I hoped it would be easy, and for the most part, without any 37 (tense). I imagined myself pouring coffee and becoming close friends with my customers. But what I hadn’t expected was the people with so many orders and the moments when I couldn’t seem to please anyone. There was always too much sugar, too little ice, or not enough skim milk. However, I kept at it. I had the determination 38 (treat) the customers well. One customer was angry and shouted at me because his coffee was hot. After he 39 (reflect) on the matter for some time, 40 (incredible) he said he regretted and 41 not have shouted at me because it was not my fault. One day with Christmas around 42 corner, one of my customers dropped in, seeming very sad. I thought I had better 43 (offer) him something to improve his mood. Before he left, I handed him a bag along with his iced coffee. He looked at me questioningly because he had ordered nothing but the coffee. He opened the bag and saw his favourite doughnut (甜甜圈) I had offered to him. He smiled and thanked me before stepping out into the rain. The next evening, he came. Instead of ordering something, he handed me a single pink rose and a note. “Thanks for being so sweet and considerate yesterday. Your kind act prevented me 44 taking a bad step. It is so nice to meet someone who is warm.” As time went on, I came across some customers really particular. But whenever I felt down, I would remember that man and his kindness. Then I would smile, hold my head up high, clear my throat and ask politely, “How can I help you?” The 45 (exist) of myself was to make others live better. Recently our class participated in a heated discussion about whether elementary school students need homework. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第二节(满分25分) 47. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: ”Sarah, catch me!"
