Ma’s working day starts at 7:30 am by cleaning the panda house. To keep a close eye on the pandas’ health condition, he collects their faeces (粪便), weighs them and makes notes of them every day.
At 9:00 am, he begins to prepare meals for the pandas. It takes much time because an adult panda can eat about 40kg of bamboo a day. To make sure they eat healthily, he also prepares apples, carrots, eggs and so on.
At 10:00 am, Ma trains the pandas to do some easy things, like opening their mouth or holding out their hands. He also takes the pandas out and spends some playtime with them.
At 6:00 pm, Ma takes the pandas inside to rest. Then he does one last round of cleaning before heading home.
Doing the same things day after day may be boring, but Ma enjoys it. He sees the pandas at the zoo as his family members. He knows each panda well—“Gu Gu” is handsome and smart, “Meng Da” and “Meng Er” are quiet, and “Bai Tian” is quite shy.

At school, students usually learn many subjects in the classroom like English, math and so on. Now there is a new one in some schools—school gardening (种植). It is an outdoor subject. In the gardening class, teachers teach students different kinds of vegetables and how to grow them. Then students work in groups.
Students really love this subject. Why? Because they can have much fun in this class. They don’t have to sit at their desks in the classroom all day. They can get out, get their hands dirty, do things with their own hands and relax.
It’s also fun to get something to eat and see. In some schools, students like to grow carrots and tomatoes. It’s always interesting for them to get a carrot or a tomato, wash it and eat it right in the garden. In some schools, students like to grow flowers. When it’s spring, all the flowers come out and they’re really beautiful. Students like to walk and talk in the garden. That’s their favorite thing to do after busy hours of work.
Only fun from the classes? Of course not, students can learn something, too. Keeping a school garden is difficult and all the students in the group need to come and help. This teaches students teamwork. Also, some vegetables are easy to grow, but others need a long time. This teaches students to be patient before they get the things they want.

Dear Editor,
My classmates and I are going to be Grade 9 students. Some of my classmates often face problems. For example, too much homework makes them tired. And they sometimes feel nervous before having exams.
Here’s my advice:
• Plan study time to finish homework earlier.
• Share feelings with parents or teachers.
I hope we all remember: it’s normal to have problems and worries. But it’s important to ask for help. We can ask help from the people around us: our parents, our teachers and we can always help each other. When we face problems together, growing up becomes easier. (100字)
Yours,
