Beyond the Clouds is a touching movie. It is about a great Chinese teacher, Zhang Guimei, who set up a high school for girls to study for free in Lijiang.
She came up with the idea of setting up a high school especially for girls after she visited the homes of the girls who gave up studying. She learned that most of the dropouts (辍学生) would get married. Poor families couldn’t pay the tuition fees (学费). Some girls had to do chores at home.
Between 2003 and 2007, Zhang spent her vacations on the streets, asking people to give away money for her girls’ school. Many people thought she might lie and cheat money from them. So she only raised about 10,000 yuan.

Have you watched YangBOT in the 2025 Spring Festival Gala? These amazing robots were developed by a young man and his team. It’s Wang Xingxing who was born in 1990. The young man comes from a small village in Yuyao, Zhejiang Province. His parents are both villagers. From a common family, he still had his dream.
When Wang Xingxing studied in Yuyao Xiaodong Middle School, he was fond of using the old things at home to make handicrafts (手工艺品), like model cars, ships and airplanes. Have you watched YangBOT in the 2025 Spring Festival Gala? These amazing robots were developed by a young man and his team. It’s Wang Xingxing who was born in 1990. The young man comes from a small village in Yuyao, Zhejiang Province. His parents are both villagers. From a common family, he still had his dream.
When Wang Xingxing studied in Yuyao Xiaodong Middle School, he was fond of using the old things at home to make handicrafts (手工艺品), like model cars, ships and airplanes. In 2009, he studied at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, and he made his first desktop humanoid robot (人形机器人) which had two legs. Besides, the two-legged robot only cost him over 200 yuan.
