【易混辨析】  other与else区别

else可为形容词或副词，在句中可修饰疑问代词或不定代词，此时需位于疑问代词或不定代词之后。

Other可为形容词，用于修饰名词或代词，位于所修饰词之前。

Eg: Nobody else in my school comes from America. 

我们学校没有其他人来自美国。

Do you have any other questions?

你还有别的问题吗？

【知识拓展】“we know ourselves better than anyone else”是主句think的宾语从句，宾语从句即为作宾语的句子。

Eg: I believe he must pass the exam.

我相信他一定会通过考试。

accept为动词，译为“接受”。

Eg: I accept the gift from my friend.

我接受朋友的礼物。

She accepted the job offer without hesitation. 

她毫不犹豫地接受了工作邀请。

【派生词】 acceptable为形容词，译为“可接受的”；

acceptance为名词，译为“接受”。

Eg: The proposal is not acceptable in its current form. 

该提案在当前形势下不可接受。

Her acceptance of the job offer was a great relief to us. 

她接受工作邀请让我们松了一口气。

【易混辨析】 receive和accept区别

receive表示客观上收到某物，但不涉及是否愿意接受；

accept表示主观上愿意接受某物，涉及到一定程度的主观愿意。

Eg: I haven’t received a letter from him yet.

我还没有收到他的信呢。

I received a gift from Lily, but I can’t accept it, because it is too expensive.

我收到了来自丽丽的礼物，但是我没有接受，因为它太贵了。

【易混辨析】 through、across和over区别

through常常表示在空间内进行的，强调从物体内部穿过；

across常常表示动作在物体表面进行的，强调从一端到另一端；

Over强调方向性，不与物体表面接触，还有数量上“超过”的意思。

Eg: This train goes through to York.

这列火车直达约克。

It’s too wide. We can’t swim across.  

这太宽了，我们游不过去。

The car skidded off the road and rolled over and over.

汽车滑出路面不断翻滚。

【易混辨析】Other, the other, others, the others与another区别：

Other “其他的；另外的”常作限定词使用，后面可以接名词；

The other “两者中的另一个”为特指，常用结构为one..., the other...译为“一个...；另一个”；

Others 用于已知的一些人或物中，出去某些后余下的人或物中的一部分。译为“其他”为泛指，常用结构为some..., others...译为“一些...，另一些...”；Others = other + 可数名词复数；

The others用于指一定范围内出去一个或一部分后，余下的全部人或物。译为“其余的；其余全部”为特指，我们常用the others = the other + 可数名词复数；

Another “另一个；再一个”为泛指，三者或三者以上中的另一个。

Eg: I can’t see you now -- some other time, maybe.

我现在不能见你 -- 也许别的时候吧。

I have two brothers, one is a doctor, the other is a teacher.

我有两个哥哥，一个是医生，另一个是老师。

Some people came by car, others came on foot.

一些人开车来，另一些人走路来。

【常见搭配】 mean to do sth.打算做某事

Mean doing sth.意味着做某事

The meaning of ...   ...的意思

Eg: I mean to go, but my father would not allow me to.

Missing this train means waiting for another hour.  

错过这辆火车意味着你得再等一小时。
