(河南省洛阳市2024-2025学年高二下学期期末)I’ ve lived in over 20 houses, sharing my neighborhoods with more people than I can recall. While I’ ve been extremely fortunate to have chosen friendly and supportive housemates, the same can’t always be said of my neighbors. I’ ve had neighbors who turned their head whenever I passed, pretending not to see me. I’ ve had a neighbor whose child deflated (放气) the tires of my car, and I didn’t get an apology afterwards. While I believe in the benefits of knowing our neighbors, I’m aware they can be a source of stress. There are many ways in which our neighbors can annoy us.
Unwanted noise is the complaint we make. Noise can come from loud music and conversation, machines, screaming children and barking dogs. Overcrowding can particularly cause worry for people living in high-rise apartments. For example, it can be difficult to avoid problematic neighbors when you share a common walkway or elevator. This, in turn, can lead to stress and social withdrawal. Besides, different values can also create tension within the neighborhood. According to a study, women living in poor areas tend to distance themselves from neighbors due to conflicting values as they think their children may benefit in the process.
What should we do when we encounter these problems? There is no easy answer. Some minor conflicts can be resolved with a simple knock on the door, while others may be so extreme that legal action or relocation is required. In my case, I’ ve never left a property because of problematic neighbors. Fortunately, the naughty child don’t play tricks on me anymore. As for the neighbors who avoid interaction rather than engage in conversation… well, occasionally, that neighbor is me!
However, I love talking to my neighbors, exchanging stories about our families and our neighborhood. This exchange is made easier by the fact that I now have good neighbors. Perhaps for those of us who can’t always choose our neighborhood, our relationship with our neighbors is best summed up by Carl Sandburg, “Love your neighbor as yourself; but don’t take down the fence.”
1.How does the author view his neighbors?
A.They tend to play tricks on each other.
B.They usually have a friendly manner.
C.They offer others emotional support.
D.They can cause stress-related problems.
2.Which may the author agree with?
A.Conflicts are a frequent occurrence especially in poor areas.
B.Noise is one of the most common problems among neighbors.
C.Problematic neighbors are more likely to live in high buildings.
D.Conflicting values can negatively impact children’s mental health.
3.What does the author suggest to resolve small conflicts with neighbors?
A.Directly discussing with neighbors.
B.Avoiding interaction with neighbors.
C.Waiting for neighbors to take action.
D.Moving to some other neighborhood.
4.What does Carl Sandburg imply about neighborhood relationship?
A.Show both love and respect to neighbors.
B.Take down the fence for a better relationship.
C.Maintain boundaries while having good relationships.
D.Build connections to enhance the sense of community.
【答案】1.D 2.B 3.A 4.C
根据第一段 “While I believe in the benefits of knowing our neighbors, I’m aware they can be a source of stress. There are many ways in which our neighbors can annoy us. (尽管我相信了解邻居的好处,但我也意识到他们可能是压力的来源。邻居们有很多方式会让我们感到烦恼)”可知,作者认为邻居可能带来压力相关问题。故选D项。
2.细节理解题。根据第二段 “Unwanted noise is the complaint we make. (不必要的噪音是我们最常抱怨的问题)”可知,噪音是邻里间最常见的问题之一。故选B项。
3.推理判断题。根据第三段 “Some minor conflicts can be resolved with a simple knock on the door, while others may be so extreme that legal action or relocation is required. (一些小冲突只需敲敲门就能解决,而另一些冲突可能极其严重,需要采取法律行动或搬家)”可知,作者建议通过直接与邻居讨论来解决小矛盾。故选A项。
根据最后一段 “Perhaps for those of us who can’t always choose our neighborhood, our relationship with our neighbors is best summed up by Carl Sandburg, “Love your neighbor as yourself; but don’t take down the fence.” (也许对于我们这些不能总是选择居住社区的人来说,我们与邻居的关系可以用卡尔・桑德堡的话来最好地概括:爱你的邻居如爱自己,但不要拆掉篱笆)”可知,Carl Sandburg暗示邻里关系应在保持良好关系的同时维持边界,“篱笆”象征着个人界限,与C选项“保持界限的同时建立良好关系”相符。故选C项。

(河南省濮阳市2024-2025学年高二下学期期末)If you want to enjoy the weekend fully, you must make it productive. Now, the question arises: how to make your weekend productive? Well, there are many ways, and we are going to discuss the top ones.
1
Sunday nights are the most-awaited, so they should be planned properly. To make your weekend productive and enjoyable, you have to be clear about what you should do and in what way. 2 , but you cannot achieve it if you do things in a random way. It is a common sight that people prefer to sleep for a long time on weekends in the name of rest. 3 . No doubt rest is important, but a proper amount of physical exercise and activities will keep you energetic for your whole weekend. You will find yourself more refreshed and motivated to do excellent things.

Break is important
5 . To work properly and effectively, both need sufficient rest and regular breaks. You should set aside your weekend for yourself, your family and friends. You should try different things and take a break from the working routine to enjoy the weekend fully.

B.This is not the right thing.
C.Do what makes you happy.
D.Time management is very necessary.
E.The mind and body of humans are like machines.
F.Everyone gets tired of the busy routine of the whole week.
G.Weekends can be the source to give attention and time to each other.
【答案】1.A 2.D 3.B 4.G 5.E
1.由上文 “Now, the question arises: how to make your weekend productive? Well, there are many ways, and we are going to discuss the top ones. (现在,问题出现了:如何让你的周末富有成效?嗯,有很多方法,我们将讨论最重要的那些。)”可知,此处需引出第一个具体方法。A项Make proper plans (制定适当的计划) 以祈使句形式直接点明主题,与后文 “Sunday nights are the most-awaited, so they should be planned properly. (周日晚上最值得期待,因此应该妥善计划。)”形成“总述→分述”的逻辑结构,统领该段“明确要做的事并安排日程”的内容。故选A项。
2.由下文 “but you cannot achieve it if you do things in a random way. (但如果你随意做事,就无法实现它。)”可知,此处需强调“有序安排”的重要性。D项Time management is very necessary (时间管理非常必要)中 “Time management”对应后文 “Schedule everything(安排好一切)”, “necessary”与 “cannot achieve it if you do things in a random way”形成正反论证,说明“随意做事”的弊端,强化“时间管理”的必要性。故选D项。
3.由上文 “It is a common sight that people prefer to sleep for a long time on weekends in the name of rest. (常见的现象是,人们喜欢在周末以休息的名义睡很长时间。)”及下文 “No doubt rest is important, but a proper amount of physical exercise and activities will keep you energetic for your whole weekend. (毫无疑问,休息很重要,但适量的体育锻炼和活动会让你整个周末都精力充沛。)”可知,此处需指出“长时间睡觉”的不当。B项This is not the right thing (这不是正确的做法)中 “This”指代“以休息名义长时间睡觉”,通过否定表述引出后文“适量运动更有益”的观点,形成“错误做法→正确建议”的转折逻辑。故选B项。
4.由上文 “Of course, people often struggle to find much time to associate or connect with their loved ones. (当然,人们常常难以找到很多时间与所爱的人交往或联系。)” 可知,此处需说明“周末”对维系情感的作用。G项Weekends can be the source to give attention and time to each other (周末可以成为彼此关注和陪伴的源泉)中 “Weekends”呼应段落主题 “Spend time with your loved ones (与所爱的人共度时光)”, “give attention and time to each other”解决前文“难以找到时间”的问题,形成“问题→对策”的衔接。故选G项。
5.由下文 “To work properly and effectively, both need sufficient rest and regular breaks. (为了正常且有效地工作,两者都需要充足的休息和定期的休息。)”可知,此处需解释“休息重要”的原因。E项The mind and body of humans are like machines
