"You don't understand me! I wish I had a different mother!" Jiafen shouted. Her mother replied,
"I'm just trying to look out for you! Why can't you listen?" Jiafen couldn't stand it anymore. "I'm
leaving!" she cried and rushed out.
Walking through the streets, Jiafen's strong feelings slowly gave way to a more basic need: food. She
stopped near a small noodle stall (摊子), drawn by the nice smell of freshly cooked food.
The stall owner noticed her. He called out with a big smile, "Miss, would you like some noodles?"
Jiafen hesitated, her cheeks turned red with shame. "I.. I forgot to bring money," she said softly.
He waved her over, "Don't worry. Come sit down."
Full of gratitude (感激). Jiafen took a seat. Soon, a bowl of noodles was served
along with a few simple dishes. As she took her first bite, the warmth of the food touched
her. Tears began to run down.
"Miss, are you all right?" the owner asked.
"I'm just ." Jiafen said. "We don't know each other, yet you were kind enough to
cook for me. But earlier today, I fought with Mom. She told me not to come back. You showed me more
kindness."
The owner then said, "Miss, I only made you one bowl of noodles, and you feel so thankful. Your
mother has cooked for you and cared for you for more than ten years. How could you not feel even more
thankful to her?"
Jiafen was shocked. A single bowl of noodles from a stranger had moved her to tears -but what about
the countless meals her mother had made?
She finished eating and took a deep breath. It was time to go home and say the words she had long
taken for granted(理所当然):Mom. I'm sory. I was wrong.
As she neared her house, she saw her mother outside, scanning the street anxiously. Her face was
drawn with worry, but when she saw Jiafen, it lit up.
"Fen, hurry home!" she called out. "I've already cooked dinner. If you don't eat soon, it'll get cold."
Suddenly, tears filled Jiafen's eyes again - not from hunger or shame, but from love.

On April 19th, a half marathon was held in Beijing. About 12, oo0 runners
took part. On a separate track, beside the human runners, 21 human-like robots
took the same challenge. There have been robot races before, but not this
challenging. It was the first race of its kind. Six robots finished the race though
the distance (距离) was quite difficult for them.
The robots that raced were in different shapes and sizes. The largest, called
"Tiangong Ultra", was 180 cm tall. The smallest, called "Little Giant", was
just under 75 cm tall. Each traveled with support workers and a car holding supply parts and even
replacement robots. Support workers caried devices (设备) to control their robots. Some workers
followed their robots: others led them
The early part of the race was the easiest because the course was flat. Later, things became more
difficult. The course had 14 turns. and there were small hills to run up or down. As with human runners, low
power was a problem for the robots, too. Tiangong fell once because of low power. The same thing happened
to other robots, too. The biggest challenge was probably overheating. It was cool in the morning, but as the
day heated up, workers had to help the robots to keep cool. At one point, Little Giant had smoke coming out
of its head.
The first robot to cross the finish line was Tiangong. It finished the race in 2 hours, 40 minutes, and 42
seconds. Second and third place went to two different versions of the same small robot. N2
For the robots, the goal of the race wasn't to win, it was to finish. Though some robots didn't finish
their efforts produced a lot of information that will help their developers improve future robots

"Quick, pick it up-you can still eat that!" We' ve all heard this saying about the "five-second
rule":if food is picked up quickly after falling, many believe it's safe to eat. 36
Scientist Nicholas Aicher from Illinois put the rule to the test. In his study.
he checked how many bacteria (细菌) got on food that touched the floor for
different times-from one second to one minute. 37 And over a million people
watched his video which led to heated discussions.
The findings were clear: All food samples(样本) had bacteria, even after
just one second. "Looks like even zero seconds is too long," Aicher said.
Surprisingly, food left for five seconds had about the same bacteria as food left for sixty seconds. 38
Many people who saw the video still said they would follow the rule. One TikTok user said, "I've
always done this and never got sick." Others mentioned not wanting to waste food.
So what's more important-saving food or staying healthy? The answer isn't simple. 39 If you eat
food with it, you might get ill. But if your home is clean, the risk is smaller.
It's good to avoid wasting food, but safety matters too. 40 Before using the five-second rule, think
How clean is this floor? When was it last cleaned?

六、书面表达
One possible versior:
Traditional or Digital: My Learning Style
With the development of technology, our ways of learning have changed a lot
Traditional learning has its advantages. Using textbooks and notebooks helps me focus better, and writing by
hand improves my memory. However, it often takes me more time when I need to look up information. Digital
learning, however, can help save much time. With e-books and online materials, I can learn anytime and anywhere.
Educational apps also make learning easier and more interesting. But looking at screens for long may easily make
our eyes tired.
Personally, I prefer to mix both ways. For subjects like math, I stick to pen and paper to solve problems. For
languages, I love using digital tools to practice listening and speaking. I can make good use of both and study
efficiently by mixing them. After all, the best learning style is the one that works for you!

Hello everyone! We're excited to tell you about the activity on Community Clean-Up Day. Last year, 120
volunteers joined us and the youngest was only 7 years old. And we collected over 20o kilograms of waste. What
a great success!
The activity for this year will be held this Saturday, November 18th. The event starts at 9:30 a.m. near the main
lake in Central Park. This year, we aim to clean all three parks in our neighborhood. We'll provide all the tools
needed. After the clean-up, we'll serve free drinks and sandwiches for all volunteers. Just come with comfortable
clothes and strong shoes. The clean-up will last about three hours.
To join us, please call Mrs. Smith at 555-0192 before Friday evening. Let's work together to make our parks
