Spider monkeys are New World primates(灵长类). They get their names because they have very long limbs (四肢) and tails, which make them look like spiders.
Spider monkeys can be in the tropical(热带的) forests of Central and South America, from southern Mexico and Brazil. Their body is 40 to 60centimeters long and weighs 7 to 9kilograms and the tail is 60 to 80centimeters. The long tails help them to catch tree branches, kind of like a fifth hand.
Spider monkeys live in groups. One group usually has dozens of spider monkeys. In many primates, males(雄性) stay together throughout their lives with the females. However, spider monkeys are different. They leave their first groups to find another group.

They also eat other things like insects, honey, leaves, spiders and bird eggs. Spider monkeys actually play an important part in the spreading of seeds throughout the South American rain forests.

At the 2025 Spring Festival Gala,a special performance surprised the audience (观众) around the world.Sixteen robots from a Chinese robotics company performed a traditional Chinese Yangge folk dance together with human dancers.
Wearing colorful traditional jackets, the robots moved gracefully, twisting (扭转) their waists and spinning (旋转) handkerchiefs just like real dancers. This was possible because the robots used special AI technology to spin the handkerchiefs and catch them again. This was very difficult because it needed precise sensors(精准传感器)and smart design. The robots have two motors(发动机) in their arms — one for spinning the handkerchief and the other for throwing and catching it. Their high-precision sensors and motion (动作) control systems allowed them to perform perfectly even on a complex stage.
The robots were named Fuxi after a legendary Chinese ancestor, symbolizing the blessings of technology. Each robot is 1.8 meters tall and weighs 47kilograms. To get ready for the dance, the robots practiced for about three months. They used laser (激 光)technology to find their positions on stage and change formations (阵型)smoothly.
Many people online were amazed by the performance. One said, “The way the robots spin the handkerchiefs is really impressive!” Another added, “AI and robotics are at a whole new level now.”
This performance showed how far robots have come. It was a great example of how tradition and modern technology can create something truly amazing.
( )13. How does Paragraph 2 make the performance interesting to readers?
A. By telling a story. B. By explaining reasons.
C. By describing details. D. By asking questions.
( )14. Why were the robots named Fuxi according to the passage?
A. To honor a legendary Chinese ancestor.
B. To symbolize technological blessings.
C. To represent the company’s founder.
D. To celebrate the Spring Festival.
( )15. What did the robots use to find their positions on stage and change formations smoothly?
A. Laser technology. B. AI recognition. C. Motion sensors. D. Remote control.
( )16. What can we know about the audience's reaction to the robots’ performance?
A. They didn't like the robots.
B. They were confused by the technology.
C. They were impressed by the performance.
D. They didn't care about the performance.

Over the years, people have a lot of fresh and crazy ideas to make space travel cheaper and more frequent. One of them is “Can we just fly into outer space by airplane?” However, it is never quite that simple. And that doesn't stop us from trying. That is the idea behind a space plane.
A space plane is a vehicle that uses the forces of lift to take off and fly like an airplane. It has elements (元素) of an airplane and a rocket. Unlike traditional rockets, a space plane takes off from a runway. Its powerful jet engines take it up to a certain height and speed. Once into space, the space plane can operate like any other spacecraft. It can deploy (部 署) satellites, do experiments, or even send astronauts to space stations. When it returns from space, it flies smoothly back to the earth and lands on a runway.
Space planes need to experience different flight stages, from low atmosphere(大气层) to outer space. Each of these heights requires a different type of engine for most efficiency (效率). Thus, the main challenge with a space plane is putting all the engines into a single vehicle. There are a lot of space planes flying in the sky now. The future of space planes is not just about reaching new heights but also about making space part of our everyday lives.
41. What do people want space travel to be through their fresh and crazy ideas?
42. List two two things that a space plane can do.
43. What is the main challenge with a space plane?
44. What do you think of the space plane? Write 30 words or more.
