Ole Bouman, a Dutch-German historian, writer and photographer and now a professor at Tongji University in Shanghai, has the answer — 156 days. This journey wasn’t a whim. It was a long-held idea that became increasingly clear and defined as Bouman started making physical, mental, and financial preparations, “I’ve had the strong curiosity to learn more about the East since the 1990s. As a cultural historian, I would like to know more about the relationship and interconnection between the East and the West,” said Bourman. Setting off from Amsterdam Bouman faced unexpected challenges and deep thinking. Every day, he rode toward different destinations. A 45-kilogram bag and an 18-kilogram bike were all that carried him on the 10,756-kilometer journey through 18 countries and regions with 16 different languages, as well as more than 500 historical sites. Along the way, he crossed about 300 rivers, climbed over 100 mountains, and tried to find a road that was not so smooth to gain new experiences, mapping an adventure filled with discoveries about people, cultures, stories, understanding, and connection. Cycling from the West to the East and recording thousands of memorable moments, Bouman became more certain that his journey was more about the common ground we shared — the peace — rather than the differences. “From the West to the East, there are big changes in cultures, landscapes, literature, etc. But while pursuing (追求) changes and interacting with ordinary people, I become aware that people are pursuing a similar kind of normal life and personal happiness.” Bouman has lived in China for around 10 years since he cycled to Shanghai and has been attracted by the whole history behind the new world. Now he is the founding director of the Design Society, a cultural exchange platform, whose goal is to push the young generation to kick off their own journey and encourage them to get close to the truth and reality by making physical efforts. 24. What does the underlined word “whim” in paragraph 2 mean? A. A strong desire. B. A sudden wish. C. A long-held idea. D. A challenging trip. 25. Why is the data mentioned in paragraph 3? A. To show Bouman’s smooth experiences. B. To show the difficulties along the journey. C. To show different destinations in the world. D. To show Bouman’s unexpected ways of thinking. 26. Which of the following can best describe Bouman? A. Honest and brave. B. Generous and humorous. C. Curious and adventurous. D. Creative and imaginative. 27. What is the aim of the Design Society? A. To tell the story of Bouman’s journey. B. To share the whole history behind China. C. To inspire the youth to explore the world physically. D. To establish the platforms for world cultural exchange. C Dementia (痴呆症) is proving very difficult to treat with drugs, but perhaps there are brain-healthy things hiding in our diets. A study of more than 50,000 participants in the UK Biobank has found that people who eat a handful of nuts every day may lower their risk of allcause dementia. Compared with people over the age of 60 who didn’t eat nuts, those who reported having up to 30g of nuts a day had a 16% lower risk of developing dementia in the years to come. If the nuts were unsalted, that rate jumped to 17%. It didn’t matter if nuts were dried or roasted. That sounds like good news, but there are a few cautions. These results were only found in those who were not considered overweight, who get a normal amount of sleep, and who did not smoke or drink daily. Health researcher Bruno Bizzozero-Peroni and his colleagues at Castilla-La Mancha drew on a group of people from the UK Biobank, enrolled (登记) between 2007 and 2012.Participants were tracked for an average of 7 years. Over the course of the study, the rate of all-cause dementia was 2.8%. Those who said they ate 30g of nuts a day were less likely to fall into that risk category. New evidence suggests that as many as 40% of dementia cases can be prevented or even delayed by changing certain lifestyle risk factors, like smoking, drinking, or exercising. Diet seems to be a key player. Several systematic reviews have found healthy diets, like the Mediterranean diet, are linked to a reduced risk of dementia. Meanwhile, the Western diet seems to be a risk factor for dementia. A recent study on 60,000 Britons found that following a Mediterranean diet decreases the risk of dementia by as much as 23%. Those are hardearned numbers that need to be studied further, especially since only a quarter of the UK Biobank participants reported regularly eating nuts. 28. From whom are these results concluded? A. The participants younger than 60. B. The participants avoiding salted nuts. C. The participants developing dementia. D. The participants having healthy living habits. 29. What does paragraph 3 mainly tell us about the study? A. Its process. B. Its cause. C. Its risk. D. Its significance. 30. What is the author’s attitude to the numbers in the last paragraph? A. Curious. B. Careful. C. Impatient. D. Indifferent. 31. Where is the text probably found? A. On a food poster. B. On a sports blog. C. In a cooking brochure. D. In a medicine magazine. D The Warner School of Education recently hosted the latest edition of its “Warner Wednesday Talk” series, titled “AI & K-12 Leadership—Findings from an Interdisciplinary (跨学科的) Study”. This event brought together a group of experts. The talk covered their findings and recommendations for future research and applications. Through surveying more than 100 head teachers, superintendents, district administrators (管理人员), and district technology specialists, the study gained insight into educational leaders’ opinions on AI use at each organizational level. It first established participants’ knowledge about AI. Of those surveyed, only 5.6% of head teachers and 16.7% of superintendents reported being very knowledgeable, while 37.9% of district technology leaders and 31% of course leaders reported the same high level. Though many had a low level of knowledge, all educational roles reported significant usage of AI. Leaders were most likely to use AI for written communication, with around 80% of respondents reporting at least occasional use of AI as a communication aid, and least likely to use it in the creation of budgets (预算) and course schedules, with around 90% reporting no usage in this area. Though current administrative use was mainly limited to things like writing emails, revising texts, and brainstorming ideas, respondents identified some potential future benefits. They believed that teachers would benefit from AI, showing that AI could help teachers save time on routine tasks, individualize instruction, design lessons, and understand how to teach students about AI. The group of experts showed an instructional video explaining that AI-powered tools consolidate (合并) sources to create readings for students based on their reading and language level, and then produce more questions. Respondents were similarly optimistic about the benefits of AI to students. They thought the highest benefit was the ability for students to learn responsible and ethical use of AI, with over 81% of respondents considering that to be very beneficial. Other aspects were the ability to receive personalized learning, provide access to tools to aid students with special needs, save time to focus on higher-level tasks, and be prepared for future jobs. 32. How does the author begin the text? A. By describing an event. B. By introducing some experts. C. By recommending an application. D. By disclosing some research findings. 33. Which group in the survey has the highest percentage of people very knowledgeable about AI? A. Head teachers. B. Course leaders. C. District technology leaders. D. Superintendents. 34. What can we learn from the text? A. Leaders use AI least for administration. B. AI is used across all educational roles. C. All respondents have limited AI knowledge. D. AI is mostly used for budgeting and scheduling. 35. What is the best title for the text? A. Popularizing AI Tools B. AI, Beneficial to Teachers? C. Exploring AI in K-12 Education D. I soon found a new client (客户), which brought hope to me. At the time, I wondered if it was too good to be true. By the third month, something didn’t seem right — the pay didn’t arrive on time. I sent the client an email to find out what was going on, one email after another. However, the pay never arrived, and I never heard from the client again. The hope that just started was ruined again — I felt completely broken and lost all my confidence. Too anxious to do anything, I hid from friends and locked myself in my room. One night, the phone rang, and it was from a high school friend Molly. I answered the phone because we had always been there to cheer up each other during tough times, and I thought it would be good to hear a caring voice on the other end of the line. Even though the last thing I wanted to do was talk about my failure I listed all my problems I had met and complained that I felt helpless. Instead of comforting me as usual, Molly cut me off and started lecturing me, “What’s wrong with you? You could do anything you wanted to do before. You were the one who helped get us out of trouble. Now you’re in trouble, and do for yourself what you always did for us. Changes start with yourself. You are a writer, so start writing. Write for magazines, newspapers and anything alike.” “Write for magazines? I even don’t know anything about writing for magazines, let alone write what people would want to read. And what magazine would I even send the application to?” I cried back. “Figure it out,” she said. “Do you remember how you finally became good at writing at high school, which you had thought impossible?” Memories came flooding back to me. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ With the newfound hope, I started the journey of self-change. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 高一英语考试卷 注意事项: 1. How much is the shirt? During each autumn harvest season, the village transforms into an imaginative wonderland filled with handcrafted scarecrows, autumn decorations, and seasonal cheer.(美国宾夕法尼亚州的“小贩村”是一个迷人的旅游胜地,这里举办着东北地区最受欢迎的节日之一——稻草人节。 D。 B Have you wondered how long would the trip from Amsterdam to Shanghai take by bike? Ole Bouman, a Dutch-German historian, writer and photographer and now a professor at Tongji University in Shanghai, has the answer — 156 days. This journey wasn’t a whim. It was a long-held idea that became increasingly clear and defined as Bouman started making physical, mental, and financial preparations, “I’ve had the strong curiosity to learn more about the East since the 1990s. As a cultural historian, I would like to know more about the relationship and interconnection between the East and the West,” said Bourman. Setting off from Amsterdam, Bouman faced unexpected challenges and deep thinking. B 25. B 26. C 27. 根据第二段中划线单词后的“It was a long-held idea that became increasingly clear and defined as Bouman started making physical, mental, and financial preparations, “I’ve had the strong curiosity to learn more about the East since the 1990s. As a cultural historian, I would like to know more about the relationship and interconnection between the East and the West,” said Bourman. 根据第三段中的“A 45-kilogram bag and an 18-kilogram bike were all that carried him on the 10,756-kilometer journey through 18 countries and regions with 16 different languages, as well as more than 500 historical sites. Along the way, he crossed about 300 rivers, climbed over 100 mountains, and tried to find a road that was not so smooth to gain new experiences(一个45公斤的包和一辆18公斤的自行车承载着他完成了10756公里的旅程,途经18个国家和地区,使用16种不同的语言,参观了500多个历史遗迹。 根据第二段中的“I’ve had the strong curiosity to learn more about the East since the 1990s. As a cultural historian, I would like to know more about the relationship and interconnection between the East and the West(自20世纪90年代以来,我一直有着强烈的好奇心去更多地了解东方。作为一名文化历史学家,我想更多地了解东西方之间的关系和联系)”及第三段中的“Along the way, he crossed about 300 rivers, climbed over 100 mountains, and tried to find a road that was not so smooth to gain new experiences, mapping an adventure filled with discoveries about people, cultures, stories, understanding, and connection. 根据最后一段中的“Now he is the founding director of the Design Society, a cultural exchange platform, whose goal is to push the young generation to kick off their own journey and encourage them to get close to the truth and reality by making physical efforts(现在他是设计协会的创始主任,这是一个文化交流平台,其目标是推动年轻一代开启自己的旅程,并鼓励他们通过身体力行接近真相和现实)”可知,该协会的核心宗旨是激励年轻人通过亲身实践探索世界。故选C项。 C Dementia (痴呆症) is proving very difficult to treat with drugs, but perhaps there are brain-healthy things hiding in our diets. A The participants younger than 60. D 29. A 30. B 31. 根据第二段中“These results were only found in those who were not considered overweight, who get a normal amount of sleep, and who did not smoke or drink daily. 根据第三段“Health researcher Bruno Bizzozero-Peroni and his colleagues at Castilla-La Mancha drew on a group of people from the UK Biobank, enrolled (登记) between 2007 and 2012. Participants were tracked for an average of 7 years. Over the course of the study, the rate of all-cause dementia was 2.8%. Those who said they ate 30g of nuts a day were less likely to fall into that risk category.(健康研究员布鲁诺·比索泽罗·佩罗尼及其卡斯蒂利亚-拉曼查大学的同事选取了英国生物银行2007至2012年间登记的人群进行追踪研究。 故选A项。 根据最后一段中“Those are hard earned numbers that need to be studied further, especially since only a quarter of the UK Biobank participants reported regularly eating nuts. 根据文章第一段“Dementia (痴呆症) is proving very difficult to treat with drugs, but perhaps there are brain-healthy things hiding in our diets. AI, Good or Bad for Students? 32. A 33. C 34. B 35. You can also set a weekly limit and adjust it if needed. The purpose of this practice is to gradually cut down the time spent online. If there are days you spend more time online, make a note of it. Even though the last thing I wanted to do was talk about my failure, I listed all my problems I had met and complained that I felt helpless. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】范文 Memories came flooding back to me. In high school, I struggled with writing assignments, often receiving poor grades. But I didn’t give up. I spent hours analyzing well-written articles, studying sentence structures and vocabulary usage. I also joined the school’s writing club, where I exchanged ideas with fellow students and learned from experienced teachers. After months of practice and countless rewrites, I finally improved my writing skills and even won a writing competition. Remembering this, I realized that with determination and effort, I could overcome any challenge, just like I did back then. With the newfound hope, I started the journey of self-change. I began by researching different magazines and understanding their requirements and preferences. I spent days crafting several articles on various topics, carefully choosing words and organizing thoughts. Then, I sent my works to multiple magazines. To my excitement, one magazine responded positively and published my article. This success motivated me to keep going. Gradually, I built a reputation as a reliable writer, got more writing opportunities, and my consulting business also started to pick up as my confidence grew. I was finally back on track, all thanks to Molly’s wake-up call. 词汇激活 行为类 ①交流:exchange/swap ②研究:studying/researching ③撰写:crafting/writing 情绪类 ①兴奋:excitement/thrill ②可靠:reliable/trustworthy 【点睛】【高分句型1】I also joined the school’s writing club, where I exchanged ideas with fellow students and learned from experienced teachers.
