According to some written records, “Loong” was first translated to “dragon” in The Travels of Marco Polo in 1299. 1 “Loong” is similar to the Western dragon, in a way —for example, both are huge and can fly. “Loong” is meaningful and native to China and there aren’t any proper expressions for it in Western languages. 4 They aim to tell people the Chinese dragon is totally different from the fire-breathing one in western ancient stories. No matter which way “Loong” is translated, we must show that “Loong” is warm and joyful. It’s very different from the Western dragon. 5

Developed by US company OpenAI, ChatGPT is a powerful tool. You can ask it to write stories and emails, create recipes, translate languages. 2
Some schools in the US, Australia and France don’t allow the use of ChatGPT. In the US, for example, schools order students not to use ChatGPT on the district’s networks and devices(设备).

The move comes out of worries that the tool could make it easier for students to cheat on schoolwork. 4 In addition, ChatGPT can’t help with students’critical-thinking(批判性思维) at all, which is necessary for their study and even lifelong success.

People like to set goals when the New Year comes. So why are we willing to set goals collectively (集体地) and around the same time every year? 1 “Belonging to a community is an important human need,” explains Selena Bartlett, a scientist at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia.
There are advantages of this kind of goal setting. 2 Research shows that couples who go on a diet together are more likely to lose weight than those who do so alone. What’s more, making changes at the same time as others also means you have others to share your success with.
3 For example, when you are depending on parents to keep you motivated and they decide to stop going to the gym, you might want to stay home as well. It’s also common for collective goal setters to compare their results with others’ and become discouraged if one person is succeeding while they are not.
If you want to set a goal with others, you’d better know the best time to set it. No matter what starts your motivation, it’s very important to take action as soon as you feel the desire. You may only have a short window of chance to make decisions about what you want to do before something gets in the way. 4
A good method of successful goal setting is breaking down bigger goals into smaller, more specific ones. 5 So instead of saying “I am going to lose 10 pounds a month”, set a goal to reduce your daily calorie intake and go to the gym for 30 minutes a day.
A.So moments of desire (愿望) are the perfect time to put a plan in place.
B.One explanation is that humans are naturally social beings.
C.They include outside motivation (有动力的) and the chances to learn from others.
D.However, sometimes there are also disadvantages about the goal-setting.
E.A new start allows us to separate our past goals from future goals.
F.Research shows that making these goals leads to better performance.

From English words to history events, you have to remember a lot at school. Is it difficult? Do you want to find some good ways to remember easily and quickly? If you have a photographic memory (过目不忘的记忆), will things be different? Scientists have made an effort to find ways to improve our memories for years. 1
Sleeping in a rocking bed
When we were babies, we could easily fall asleep in our mothers’ swaying (摇晃的) arms. Some scientists have found that if we sleep in a bed which moves softly forwards and backwards, we can have a deeper sleep. 2 Buying a rocking bed may be a good idea and it must be very fun. Haha!

4
In an experiment (实验), scientists divided 100 people into two groups. People in the first group were asked to ride a bike slowly for 60 minutes. People in the second group only had to do it really fast for 6 minutes. It shows that the short but intense (剧烈的) exercise made the brain produce more of a chemical called “brain-derived neurotrophic factor (脑源性神经营养因子). People can remember things quickly with this chemical. 5 That’s the time when you need to sit down and start to remember things.
