As students, we have many tests in school and get lots of scores. I think test scores
are important.
First of all, test scores are guides for our studies. They can tell us if we have learned
well. In addition, test scores help me to make a plan for my future studies. I can choose a
score as a goal for my next test. In that way, I will be inspired to learn better.
Getting high scores on tests is not easy, but it gives me a strong feeling of
satisfaction. When I was in Grade 7, I didn’t dare to speak in my English class because of
my shyness. But after a monthly test in which I got the highest score in my class, I found
my self-confidence.
Test scores are our important and helpful friends in our journey through education. I
value my test scores and I’m thankful for them.

Last May I went to a lake with my family. I thought it would be a normal fun day of

My brothers, cousins and uncle were with
me in a swimming area with a lifeguard (救生
员). My parents were eating lunch under a tree
nearby.
I was resting in the water when something
hit my leg. I knew it was an alligator (短吻)
as soon as it bit (咬) me. I cried for help at once.
but my family didn't know what was wrong. I
started to hit the nine-foot-long alligator, and then I remembered something I learned at an
alligator education park: The nose is the most sensitive (敏感的) part of an alligator! I stuck
my fingers up its nose, and soon it let go of me. I tried to get out of the water, but I couldn't
because my leg was hurt. Then my uncle came and pulled me out of the water. It was the
lifeguard's first day of work, and he was shaking while he dealt with my leg. Soon I was rushed
to the hospital ..
I have a big scar (疤痕) that makes me sad when I look at it sometimes, because I think
about how scared I was that day. But I also remember how brave I was in that moment
Sometimes you're in a situation where nobody else can help you and you have to think fast and
help yourself. That's what I did.

Passage 3.
It might be a surprise to hear that being bored sometimes is good for kids. But it's true
Boredom can help you kids be present and understand the world
around you. One of the great things kids have is curiosity about the
things that adults take for granted (把...不当回事), like the colors of a
butterfly and the noises of a truck. Making those discoveries is how
you learn. If you never get bored, you never discover how interesting
the world really is.
Kids'brains need to stay active, but they need downtime (休息)
too. To leave space for downtime. you can schedule (为...安排时间)
it with your family. It is helpful. Make sure that you have a couple of afternoons or evenings
per week when you don't have an organized activity.
Boredom can help you be creative, too. Thinking out of the box can help you solve
problems that seem small to adults, but are huge to you. If your schedules and brains are
always filled with activities, you'll have no need to imagine a story, wonder how things work
etc.
Of course, being bored all the time isn't healthy. Where's the line between too much
boredom and not enough? It's different for every kid and every family, and it may take some
time to find out where your line is. It can be hard to be bored. But it will achieve something
else important: developing you into interesting, funny, thoughtful people who can have dinne
time conversations and deal with long car rides. That's good for you and your family

A. what kids should do with boredom

C. how much boredom a child can stand
D. what influence boredom can bring to kids
12. What is the best title for this passage?

As the old saying goes, "It is never too late to
learn." Lifelong learning means that we can keep
learning useful skills in our daily life. It can not only
help us solve the difficulties in learning, but also meet
the needs of our development. But how can you
become a lifelong learner?
First of all, set learning goals. You should clearly
know what you want to learn. And you should know
that lifelong learning is about yourself, not what others want. You should also think about
something that interests you.
Second, keep a habit of reading. Reading is a door to the minds of humans. By reading
you will have a better understanding of the world. It allows you to learn to be alone in peace.
and lets you know where others'mistakes lie. You'll learn from them more easily.
Third, applying (应用) is the best way to test what you've learned. It can help you check
the results of your learning. It can also help you avoid forgetting quickly. So you can know
what you do well in and what you need to improve
All in all, a lifelong learner is someone who considers learning as a daily habit throughout
life. Promise yourself to learn something new every day. Then you'll make progress every day
in the rest of your life
41. Why should we become a lifelong learmer?
42. How can we have a better understanding of the world and checking our learning results?
43. How many suggestions does the passage give us for becoming a lifelong learner
44. Do you want to be a lifelong leamer? If so, what will you do to realize it? (Write 30 words
or more.)
