In early February 2019, 51-year-old Rainer Schimpf and his team set out to film South Africa's Sardine Run off the coast of Point Elizabeth Sardine Run, the annual migration(迁徙) of billions of sardines (a small sea fish), is a big draw for large predators(食肉动物), especially the dolphin and whale. Predators are animals that kill and eat other animals. In an attempt to obtain the best images of the incredible natural phenomenon, Rainer dived into the middle of a spinning ball of fish. Suddenly the sea moved around violently, and the experienced diver and his photographer Heinz Toperczer, who was filming from the boat, instantly realized something strange was going on. Suddenly dolphins shot out of the water, a white spray came out and then a whale appeared and grasped Rainer.
While Toperczer was filming the terrifying turn of events with his video camera, Rainer, who was trapped had first and engulfed(吞噬) in darkness inside the whales mouth, was trying to survive. Nothing can actually prepare you for the event when you end up inside the pure instinct(本能), "the diver told Barcroft TV. " Knowing in the whale's mouth, I tried to control my fear. But I was convinced that it was going to dive down and release me much deeper in the ocean."
"The whale quickly realized he was no sardine! As the whale turned sideways, he opened his mouth slightly to release me, and I was washed out, together with what felt like tons of water, of his mouth," recalled Rainer. Though the entire incident lasted just 1.8 seconds, it felt like a year to Rainer.
Still holding his underwater camera in his hand, the diver swam to his boat, where he was quickly rescued by the members of the team. The terrible adventure did not disturb Rainer for too long. After checking to ensure he had no injuries, the diver returned to the water to seek out more.

Young people who are hooked on reading science fiction may be on to something. Contrary to a common misunderstanding that reading science fiction is an unworthy practice, reading it may help young people cope, especially with the stress and anxiety of living while developing critical thinking skills and emotional intelligence.
Historically, parents have considered literature "good" for young people if it provides moral guidance that reflects their own values. The question is how does literature of science fiction perform its educational function? This is central to the conflict between parents and educators about what kids should read. Those who read it have been stigmatized as(被污蔑为) geeks who can't cope with reality.
A 2015 survey found that these science fiction readers were also major consumers of a wide range of other types of books. In fact, the study noted a close connection between reading varied literary forms and an ability to understand science. Rather than limiting readers' capacity to deal with reality, reading science fiction may expand their ability to engage with reality.
Science fiction does not need to provide real stories about serious social and political issues. Instead, it offers a distance between them. This distance gives readers an approach to coping with complexities and use their imagination to manage real-life challenges. It is why they are powerful and where their values lies. What is the better way to deal with the uncertainty in life than with science fiction, which explores uncertainty and depicts young people as brave characters, survivors and shapers of their own fates?
Let them read science fiction. In it, young people can see themselves—coping, surviving and learning lessons—that may enable them to create their own strategies for life. But the critical thinking and wise habits of mind prompted by this type of literature may actually produce creativity that everyday life and reality typically do not.
28.Why is science fiction rejected by many parents as a proper type of reading?
A.It lacks the educational functions they need.
B.It agrees with the common belief in society.
C.It seldom develops critical and creative thinking.
D.It results in too many expectations from parents.
29.What is the author trying to convey with the findings of the 2015 survey?
A.Literature has a negative effect on understanding science.
B.More other types of reading are consumed than science fiction.
C.Reading science fiction boosts the young's ability to cope with reality.
D.Science fiction reading restricts readers' capacity to deal with stress.
30.What does the underlined word "depicts" in Paragraph 4 mean?
A.Criticize. B.Employ. C.Describe. D.Suspect.
31.Which is the best title of the passage?
A.Why science fiction is so appealing to the young readers
B.How science fiction turns into the literature mainstream
C.What stories science fiction is bringing to the young people
D.How reading science fiction helps kids tackle reality

How to Make Fitness Your First Priority (首要事情)
There is no denying the fact that exercise is an essential part of maintaining an active, healthy lifestyle. But if you’re just struggling to make it your focus, every day can feel like a challenge. The good news is that making fitness your top priority is actually simple r than you might expect.
32
Everyone wants to believe that they will feel motivated for a vigorous workout in the evening after work. 33 Instead of pushing your workout to the evening and then potentially deciding to skip it, start your day with exercise. This will create a solid foundation for you to work for the rest of the day.
Create proper goals
There’s nothing more motivating than knowing you’ll have the satisfaction of reaching a benchmark (基准). 34 : write them down and let them be the driving factor that gets you up in the morning. Once you reach one significant point, you can begin stepping up your game for the next one. .
Be consistent
One of the biggest problems to fitness training is inconsistency. 35 House Method recommends being consistent with your exercise until it begins to feel like a habit. This will allow you to include fitness as part of your routine, so that it becomes less of a “to-do” and more of a natural part of your day.
36 So whether you’re new to your workout routine or have been going to the gym for years, these quick, simple tips can help you reframe(再组织) your approach so that fitness truly is your top focus.
A. Work out in the morning
B. Exercise at home anytime
C. However, by that time, you’re least enthusiastic about workout.
D. Get ahead of this issue by creating a set time when you will work out.
E. There are countless services available for any type of exercise routine.
F. These days, it’s easier than ever to make fitness your number one priority.
G. Create real goals for yourself

Lucy was very nervous. She had a swimming competition in the morning and could not sleep. She tossed and turned all night. She was no stranger to the competition. In fact, she loved it. Lucy was very athletic and was not only part of a swim team, but a soccer team as well. But this particular competition was important. She had made it all the way to the finals and didn't want to let her teammates down.
When her alarm went off at 6:00 am, she hit the snooze button and rolled onto her side, wishing she could just stay in bed all day. Having slept so poorly, Lucy was not at all ready for the day. After a few minutes, she stretched her arms above her head and yawned before throwing her covers back and climbing out of bed.
She was terribly anxious about the competition so much that she couldn't even eat breakfast. It felt as though her stomach was doing somersaults (滚翻). Lucy's mother looked concerned. "You have to eat something," she said. "It's important to keep your strength up." "I know, I'm just not hungry this morning," Lucy replied, picking at her eggs with a fork. All she could think about was facing the competition. What if she performed poorly? What if she disappointed her coach and teammates? She wouldn't be able to forgive herself.
Lucy's mum sensed her daughter's worry and gave her a reassuring(令人宽慰的) pat on the back. "You'll be great, dear. Just do your best. That's all that matters."
Lucy felt a bit of relief and appreciated her mother's kind words. But by the time she got to the athletic club where the swim meet was being held, that feeling of comfort had dissolved (消融). She went to the locker room to prepare for the competition, but when she opened her gym bag, she was quite surprised.

Dear Tom,
How is everything going? I'm sorry that I won't be able to join you for the trip to Beijing next weekend which we planned before.
Now, I'm writing you this letter to show my deep regret. I do hope you can understand me and excuse me for my absence. I will be very grateful if you are kind to listen to my explanation. The reason for my absence is that I'm informed that the CCTV national English competition is going to be held that day. You know that I've been waiting for the chance for months and thus by no means can I miss it. As a result, I cannot make it for the trip.
I'll appreciate it if you could forgive me. I wish to treat you to dinner in recompense.
Anyway, I wish you have a good time in Beijing next week.
Sincerely yours,
Li Hua

It turned out to be an unforgettable and fierce competition in which their team spirit led to a miracle. Lucy lost herself in this uplifting memory before she came back to reality with the gym bag in her hand.

A fit of dizziness came over her, and she hardly had the strength to stand firmly. "Lucy, here's your bag." It was her mother who arrived just in time, out of breath, stretching her arms with the bag. Never had Lucy felt so lucky to be blessed with care, encouragement and a devoted mother. Without hesitation, she headed for the swimming pool with a brilliant smile, anticipating the championship
