Strandhotel B Every morning at 6 a.m., even on weekends, Kamaljeet Singh, 57, is up and out of the house. He starts by spending three hours assisting in giving out food to nearly two dozen drop-off locations across Delhi, then checks on the numerous facilities run by the volunteer organization he leads with his brother, Premjit. The organization was founded in 1989 by their father, Trilokchan Singh, a social worker who practised selfless service. In the 1980s, he began arranging volunteers to help clean temples. Gradually, Trilokchan and his helpers began supporting migrant workers from rural areas. It started with a free breakfast, and eventually the group was also providing basic first aid for minor work injuries. Throughout this time, Trilokchan would begin his days as early as 4 a.m., then go to his paid job at 9 a.m., and end each day by volunteering in the evenings. After his death, Kamaljeet and Premjit, inspired by their father’s lifetime of service, took over. “We are continuing his work of helping the poorest of the poor,” says Premjit, 61, a retired army officer. “Our aim is that no one goes hungry and uncared for in Delhi.” Veerji Ka Dera now feeds about 2,500 people a day, in addition to providing basic medical care to as many as 500 people. The group operates several rented farms — growing crops like wheat and rice — an old-age home and medical and dental clinics. It even operates an animal shelter housing hundreds of rescued cows. All this is made possible by about 250 families who volunteer their time to cook, drive, nurse, farm and clean. Kamaljeet and his wife balance their volunteer work with managing their own company, and they get support from their family. In 2023, the group received a national award for its work. Despite the size and scope of the organization, the brothers claim it brings them no stress. Premjit says spending time with his brother and the volunteers — especially young people — is deeply rewarding. 24. What does Kamaljeet Singh usually do first after getting up every morning? A. He checks the facilities run by his organization. B. He visits the farms to check the crops being grown. C. He manages rented farms together with his brother. D. He gives a hand with sending meals to various spots. 25. What can be inferred about Trilokchan Singh from the text? A. Committed and selfless. B. Wealthy but greedy. C. Hardworking but demanding. D. Ambitious and aggressive. 26. Which of the following best describes the brothers’ attitude toward their work? A. They regard it as a burden that causes stress. B. They view it as a way to gain fame and wealth. C. They treat it as a temporary task for young people. D. They see it as a worthwhile mission that brings joy. 27. What is the best title for the passage? A. A Family Business in Security Industry B. How a Group Achieved a National Honour C. A Tradition of Selfless Service Passed Down D. The Development of Farming in Rural India C A recent survey by Fudan International School of Finance found that four out of five wealthy Chinese parents are concerned that artificial intelligence (AI) may affect their children’s future job prospects. What’s more, 20 percent admit they have no idea how to prepare for the coming changes. Despite these worries, experts have not yet clearly explained what new skills young people will need to succeed in an AI-driven world. However, there is a growing agreement about the importance of “emotional education.” “The more common machines become, the more we need to develop the ‘most human’ qualities in the young generation,” said Wu Rongjin, a primary school headmaster. Education experts believe school education should transition from simply gaining knowledge to developing human traits like empathy, creativity, ethics, and teamwork. “In the legal field, AI can read thousands of pages in seconds but doesn’t understand justice; and AI in medicine can diagnose health conditions but cannot hold a patient’s shaking hand,” Wu explained. “The magic of human-machine cooperation lies here: Machines are responsible for efficient operation, while value judgments and the development of a humane character are beyond their reach.” Lin Min, vice headmaster of a kindergarten, said that despite AI’s development, a positive outlook and a sense of responsibility are human qualities that AI lacks. She mentioned the humanoid robot half-marathon in Beijing in April as an example, saying what touched her most was when a robot failed to complete the race, its programmer held it in his arms as they left. “Machines will achieve many things that go beyond human physical limits, but they can never beat human emotions. Those moments when people give love and gain trust from each other cannot be replaced,” said Lin. The survey also found that about 60 percent of parents now focus on “soft skills” — such as character building, communication, and problem-solving — for their children’s development, believing AI will handle repetitive and standardized jobs. This compares with 43 percent who still place getting into a top university first. Experts have pointed out that accepting AI is an unstoppable trend. The next generation will create AI, rather than just use AI, and they will expand what’s possible for the good of society and humanity, said Michael Levitt, a Nobel Prize winner, during a forum in Shanghai. 28. Why are many wealthy Chinese parents concerned about AI? A. They think AI lacks the ability to understand human values. B. They worry their children will lose all job opportunities to AI. C. They are uncertain about how to adapt their kids to the AI era. D. They believe AI will create more opportunities than challenges. 29. What is Wu Rongjin’s view on the relationship between machines and humans? A. Machines will take over almost all human jobs in time. B. Humans should fight against machines for work chances. C. Machines and humans should join forces in different roles. D. Humans should compete with machines for work efficiency. 30. What does the underlined word “outlook” in paragraph 5 most probably mean? A. Attitude toward life. B. Appearance of one’s body. C. Level of intelligence. D. Expression on one’s face. 31. What does Lin Min suggest as the key to dealing with AI? A. Placing more value on children’s school grades. B. Building children’s emotional strength and duty. C. Teaching children more AI knowledge about AI. D. Encouraging children to compete with AI in speed. D Sweeteners are widely used in products from yogurts to toothpaste. They claim to let people enjoy sweet tastes without gaining weight or suffering dental problems. However, a growing body of research is suggesting that these substances may bring unexpected consequences. These sweeteners include artificial ones and plant-based substances, including a family of chemicals called sugar alcohols and stevia. Some are hundreds of times sweeter than sugar, so they are added, in tiny amounts to foods. Based on the observation that most are passed out of the body unchanged, scientists assumed they pass through without affecting metabolism However, this thing might not be that simple. Short-term controlled studies have shown that replacing sugar with sweeteners does result in lower weight gain. But long-term observations have found the opposite: people who take more sweeteners tend to gain more weight than those who take the least. Other studies indicate that they also have higher rates of heart disease, high blood sugar and cancer than those who avoid them. Proving cause and effect is difficult, as it would require considering many factors: people who use sweeteners may already be at higher risk for these diseases and are attempting to eat more healthily. Nevertheless, the overall evidence was concerning enough to cause the World Health Organization to issue an official warning in 2023, advising against using sweeteners for weight control or disease prevention. (This does not apply to people with high blood sugar.) There are several possible explanations about how sweeteners might cause harm. Some have been found to start the same harmful processes in the stomach and digestive system as sugar. Studies on mice suggest they may affect the function of immune cells that help prevent cancers. New evidence also suggests they can upset the balance of stomach microbes, potentially allowing harmful types to grow. “There are many unanswered questions,” says Dr Herbert Tilg, “but these findings are increasing the level of concern.” Avoiding these sweeteners is easier said than done, as food companies often combine several in one product to create a more natural taste. Regular buyers of packaged snacks or carbonated drinks will find them hard to avoid. The wise choice is to stay away from these products completely. And if you desire something sweet, choose a piece of your favourite fruit instead. 32. What did scientists assume about sweeteners based on early observations? A. They affect the function of immune cells in mice. B. They cause serious damage to the digestive system. C. They result in lower weight gain over the long term. D. They pass through the body without affecting health. 33. What do the long-term observations indicate compared with short-term studies? A. Both short and long-term studies reach the same finding. B. Short-term studies show loss, while long-term ones suggest gain. C. Short-term studies are overall more reliable than long-term ones. D. Long-term studies found higher disease rates than short-term ones. 34. Why is it difficult to prove that sweeteners cause health problems? A. Sweeteners are in such tiny amounts they are hard to measure. B. There are not enough long-term studies to support the findings. C. People choosing sweeteners may already face health conditions. D. Most sweeteners go through the body without leaving any trace. 35. What is the author’s attitude toward sweeteners? A. Concerned. B. Tolerant. C. Optimistic. D. Indifferent. Life is full of options, some unimportant, some significant. But sometimes it can be hard to make the proper choice. Many people ignore unseen barriers affecting their choices. ____36____ The first barrier: some of us just find it hard to make a choice. Alice Boyes, writing for Harvard Business Review, tells us this can be connected to seeking perfect results, where people attempt to find an ideal way to any problem and are unable to advance when they can’t find one. ____37____ However, as surprising as it may seem, this difficulty in deciding might actually help us make the correct ones. ____38____ Susan Krauss in Psychology Today reminds us that people often make bad decisions because they base them on fixed thoughts rather than the real situation. She highlights a paper by researcher Iris Schneider which finds that hesitant people are more likely to look at different viewpoints and use them to reach a nicer decision. The third barrier comes from our own intelligence. David Robson, speaking to the BBC’s Crowd Science, tells us that intelligence can sometimes prevent people from making the right decision. People sometimes use their intelligence to create reasonable explanations for unreasonable ideas. ____39____ Jeff Bezos supports this view. Tech CEO Jason Fried recalls the Amazon founder saying that the people who were right most of the time were those who frequently changed their minds. So, perhaps it is not hesitation but rather intelligence, combined with quick decision-making and fixed ideas, that actually prevents us from making good choices. ____40____ Being slow to decide, on the other hand, could help us select the best option. A. Another barrier comes from people’s fixed thinking patterns. B. So what exactly holds us back from making sound decisions? C. Intelligent people are less likely to make ill-advised decisions. D. He holds the view that modesty contributes to sound decisions. E. Making quick judgments is generally considered a smarter way. F. It appears that difficulty in choosing will stop us from wise decisions. G. All these studies make us rethink the value of hesitation in decision-making. When I was little, my family moved from Albania to Melbourne. In many ways, the letters serve as small emotional carriers intended ____58____ (keep) precious feelings from fading away into silence. His parents were always occupied with work. They left home early in the morning and came back late at night. Tom often ate dinner alone and went to bed without a goodnight kiss. For him, there were no family games, no city tours, no weekend outings. One day, Tom's parents brought home a gift—a smart watch. "This watch has a special friend inside,” Mom said with a smile. "Her name is Ling. She can talk to you, answer your questions, and even tell you stories.” A wave of anticipation swept over Tom as he put on the watch and pressed the button. A gentle voice came out, "Hello, Tom! I'm Ling. Nice to meet you!” Tom's eyes lit up. He had never received such an interesting gift before. From that day on, Ling became Tom's closest companion. Every morning, Ling would say, "Good morning, Tom! Have a great day at school!” Whenever Tom encountered difficulties with his homework, Ling would patiently provide thorough explanations. After Tom got into bed, Ling would tell his favorite tales about brave knights and magical lands. Sometimes, when Tom felt scared of the dark, Ling would sing softly to comfort him. To Tom, Ling was more than a voice; she was family. His parents noticed Tom's change. "See? Our little boy seems much happier now,” Dad said one evening. Mom agreed, "The watch really helps,” relieved. They thought their son was no longer lonely. What they didn't know was that sometimes, after Ling had finished her stories, Tom would lie awake in the darkness, listening to the silence that filled the room. He loved Ling, but he couldn't help thinking: if only Mom and Dad were here. One afternoon after school, Tom tripped and fell on the way home. The watch hit a rock with a loud crack. When Tom picked it up, the screen was dark. He pressed the button again and again, but nothing appeared. "Ling? Ling, are you there?” he called desperately. There was no reply. 注意: (1)续写词数应为 150 左右; (2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Tom had no choice but to turn to his parents for help. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ At that moment, both Mom and Dad saw clearly what they had missed. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 绝密★考试结束前 浙江省A9协作体暑假返校学情诊断 高二英语试题卷 考生须知: 1. Where does the conversation probably take place? You worked as a cameraman on Sir David’s film Wild London, and it’s been a great success. M: Yes. Sir David has a great effect on the course of my career. W: How did your interest in wildlife filming begin? M: I became interested in wildlife after getting a box set of Sir David’s films at 12. Soon after, I picked up a camera and started photographing animals. Now, 20 years later, I’m doing the exact same thing but for one of Sir David’s series. W: I heard you once wrote a letter to Sir David. M: Yes. When I was 19, I made a short wildlife film during a trip to Madagascar. My family encouraged me to send it to his studio. Ten days later, I received a reply pointing out what I did well and what I could improve. W: Amazing! Any advice for young people wanting to work in wildlife filming? M: Just like Wild London wants to show, it’s about appreciating what’s on your own doorstep. No matter where you are — in your garden, or at the park — you can notice the wildlife around you. 听下面一段对话,回答以下小题。【此处可播放相关音频,请去附件查看】 14. What is the probable relationship between the speakers? A. It was a friend who suggested Mr. Reisberg make videos with shelter dogs to promote adoption. Best Friends Animal Society has several shelters that accept pets from across the country. In New York, it works with Animal Care Centers of NYC, whose shelters are struggling with overcrowding. In July, Animal Care Centers of NYC stopped taking pets. Nationwide, dogs spent an average of 32 days in a shelter before being adopted. On July 10th, Mr. Reisberg posted his first video, which showed the adventures with Axl, a 10-month-old puppy. On July 19th, Axl was adopted by a woman who saw the video and drove from Virginia to give him a new home. Since these videos started, Best Friends Animal Society has had 100 more adoptions, particularly large dogs that “aren’t typically city dogs”. 第二部分:阅读(共两节,满分50分) 第一节:(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分) 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。 A Come and Explore Europe by Train! The Development of Farming in Rural India 【答案】24. D 25. A 26. D 27. C 【解析】 【导语】本文主要介绍了57岁的Kamaljeet Singh与其兄弟Premjit继承父亲Trilokchan Singh的遗志,通过志愿组织Veerji Ka Dera为德里贫困人群提供食物、医疗等帮助,将无私服务的家族传统代代相传的故事。 【24题详解】 细节理解题。根据第一段“He starts by spending three hours assisting in giving out food to nearly two dozen drop-off locations across Delhi, then checks on the numerous facilities run by the volunteer organization he leads with his brother, Premjit. (他首先花了三个小时协助向德里近两打投放点发放食物,然后检查了他和他的兄弟Premjit领导的志愿者组织运营的众多设施。)”可知,Kamaljeet每天早上起床后,首先会花三个小时协助将食物分发到德里各地的近两打投放点。 【25题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段“The organization was founded in 1989 by their father, Trilokchan Singh, a social worker who practised selfless service. In the 1980s, he began arranging volunteers to help clean temples. Gradually, Trilokchan and his helpers began supporting migrant workers from rural areas. (该组织由他们的父亲Trilokchan Singh于1989年创立,他是一名践行无私服务的社会工作者。20世纪80年代,他开始安排志愿者帮忙打扫寺庙。渐渐地,Trilokchan和他的助手们开始帮助来自农村的农民工。)”以及“Throughout this time, Trilokchan would begin his days as early as 4 a.m., then go to his paid job at 9 a.m., and end each day by volunteering in the evenings. (在这段时间里,Trilokchan每天最早4点就开始一天的工作,然后9点去从事有薪工作,晚上则以志愿服务结束一天。)”可知,Trilokchan Singh致力于志愿服务,无私奉献且坚持不懈。 【26题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“Despite the size and scope of the organization, the brothers claim it brings them no stress. Premjit says spending time with his brother and the volunteers — especially young people — is deeply rewarding. (尽管组织的规模和范围很大,但兄弟俩表示这并没有给他们带来压力。Premjit说,和兄弟以及志愿者——尤其是年轻人——共度时光是非常有收获的。)”可知,兄弟俩并不把这项工作视为负担,而是觉得它非常有价值且能带来内心的满足。 【27题详解】 主旨大意题。根据全文内容,结合第三段““We are continuing his work of helping the poorest of the poor,” says Premjit, 61, a retired army officer. (61岁的退役军官Premjit说:“我们正在继续他的工作,帮助穷人中最贫穷的人。”)”以及最后一段“Premjit says spending time with his brother and the volunteers — especially young people — is deeply rewarding. C A recent survey by Fudan International School of Finance found that four out of five wealthy Chinese parents are concerned that artificial intelligence (AI) may affect their children’s future job prospects. 【答案】28. C 29. C 30. A 31. B 【解析】 【导语】文章主要说明了一项调查显示很多中国富裕家长担忧AI影响孩子就业。专家提出要重视情感教育,培养共情、责任心等人的特质,人机各司其职,下一代要学会创造AI而非仅仅使用AI。 【28题详解】 细节理解题。根据第一段“A recent survey by Fudan International School of Finance found that four out of five wealthy Chinese parents are concerned that artificial intelligence (AI) may affect their children’s future job prospects. What’s more, 20 percent admit they have no idea how to prepare for the coming changes. (复旦国际金融学院最近的一项调查显示,五分之四的中国富裕家长担心人工智能(AI)可能影响子女未来的就业前景。此外,有20%的人表示,他们完全不清楚该如何应对即将到来的变化。)”可知,父母们感到担忧是因为他们不确定该如何让孩子适应即将到来的AI时代。 【29题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段“The magic of human-machine cooperation lies here: Machines are responsible for efficient operation, while value judgments and the development of a humane character are beyond their reach. (人机协作的奥秘就在这里:机器负责高效运行,而价值判断和人性品格的培养则超出了它们的能力范围。)”可知,他认为机器和人类应该在不同的角色分工中进行合作。 【30题详解】 词句猜测题。根据划线词所在句“a positive outlook and a sense of responsibility are human qualities that AI lacks. (积极的outlook和责任感是AI所缺乏的人类品质)”可知,这里的“outlook”与“sense of responsibility(责任感)”并列,且被“positive(积极的)”修饰,属于人类特有的内在品质。结合选项,A项“Attitude toward life(生活态度/人生观)”最符合语境。 【31题详解】 推理判断题。根据第五段“Lin Min, vice headmaster of a kindergarten, said that despite AI’s development, a positive outlook and a sense of responsibility are human qualities that AI lacks. (一位幼儿园副校长林敏表示,尽管人工智能不断发展,但积极乐观的态度和责任感是人工智能所缺乏的人类特质。)”以及第六段“Machines will achieve many things that go beyond human physical limits, but they can never beat human emotions. (机器能做到很多超越人类生理极限的事,但永远无法战胜人类的情感。)”可知,她认为应对AI的关键在于培养孩子的情感力量和责任感。 D Sweeteners are widely used in products from yogurts to toothpaste. Based on the observation that most are passed out of the body unchanged, scientists assumed they pass through without affecting metabolism (新陈代谢). However, this thing might not be that simple. 【答案】32. D 33. B 34. C 35. A 【解析】 【导语】本文主要说明了甜味剂广泛用于各类产品,号称无增重、护牙齿,但研究表明长期摄入可能带来健康隐患,WHO也发出警告,作者建议尽量避开加工食品,想吃甜食可用水果替代。 【32题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段“Based on the observation that most are passed out of the body unchanged, scientists assumed they pass through without affecting metabolism (新陈代谢).(根据大多数物质在体内未发生改变就排出体外的观察结果,科学家推测它们通过时不会影响新陈代谢)”可知,科学家早期认为甜味剂会原样排出体外,不会影响健康。 【33题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“Short-term controlled studies have shown that replacing sugar with sweeteners does result in lower weight gain. But long-term observations have found the opposite: people who take more sweeteners tend to gain more weight than those who take the least.(短期受控研究表明,用甜味剂替代糖确实会导致体重增加减少。但长期观察发现情况恰恰相反:摄入甜味剂较多的人往往比摄入最少的人更容易发胖)”可知,短期研究显示增重更少;长期观察结果相反,体重更容易增加。 【34题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段“Proving cause and effect is difficult, as it would require considering many factors: people who use sweeteners may already be at higher risk for these diseases and are attempting to eat more healthily.(证明因果关系很困难,因为这需要考虑诸多因素:使用甜味剂的人可能本身已面临更高的患病风险,而他们正试图吃得更健康)”可知,很难证明因果,因为选择甜味剂的人群本身患病风险可能本来就更高。 【35题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“The wise choice is to stay away from these products completely. And if you desire something sweet, choose a piece of your favourite fruit instead.(明智的选择是完全远离这些产品。如果你想要甜的东西,那就选择你最喜欢的水果来代替吧)”可知,作者对甜味剂感到担忧。 第二节:(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Life is full of options, some unimportant, some significant. 【答案】36. B 37. F 38. A 39. D 40. G 【解析】 【导语】文章介绍影响决策的三类隐性障碍,通过多项研究说明犹豫未必是坏事,快速决断、固化思维和高智商反而可能干扰我们做出正确选择。 【36题详解】 根据上文“Life is full of options, some unimportant, some significant. But sometimes it can be hard to make the proper choice. Many people ignore unseen barriers affecting their choices.(人生充满各种选择,有些微不足道,有些却意义重大。但有时做出正确抉择并不容易。许多人忽视了影响他们选择的无形障碍)”可知,前文提到很多人忽视影响选择的无形障碍,后文开始具体介绍第一个障碍,B项“那么究竟是什么阻碍我们做出正确的决定呢?”承上启下,符合语境。 【37题详解】 根据上文“The first barrier: some of us just find it hard to make a choice. Alice Boyes, writing for Harvard Business Review, tells us this can be connected to seeking perfect results, where people attempt to find an ideal way to any problem and are unable to advance when they can’t find one.(第一个障碍:有些人只是难以做出选择。 【38题详解】 根据后文“Susan Krauss in Psychology Today reminds us that people often make bad decisions because they base them on fixed thoughts rather than the real situation. She highlights a paper by researcher Iris Schneider which finds that hesitant people are more likely to look at different viewpoints and use them to reach a nicer decision.(《今日心理学》的苏珊·克劳斯提醒我们,人们常常做出错误决策,因为他们依据固定的想法而非实际情况来做选择。她强调了研究人员艾里斯·施耐德的一项研究论文,该论文指出犹豫不决的人更倾向于关注不同的观点,并利用这些观点做出更好的决定)”可知,空处位于段首,前文已经介绍了第一个障碍,本段后文提到人们做错误决定是因为基于固定思维而非实际情况,A项“另一个障碍来自人们的固定思维模式”引出本段的第二个障碍,符合逻辑。 【39题详解】 根据上文“The third barrier comes from our own intelligence. David Robson, speaking to the BBC’s Crowd Science, tells us that intelligence can sometimes prevent people from making the right decision. People sometimes use their intelligence to create reasonable explanations for unreasonable ideas.(第三个障碍来自我们自身的智慧。大卫·罗布森在接受BBC《大众科学》采访时告诉我们,有时智慧会阻碍人们做出正确的决定。人们有时会利用自己的智慧,为不合理的想法提供合理的解释)”以及后文“Jeff Bezos supports this view. In many ways, the letters serve as small emotional carriers intended ____58____ (keep) precious feelings from fading away into silence. Back in the 1940s, local villagers ____60____ (bury) their inner feelings instead of voicing them publicly. Love is hidden in patience, ____61____ (responsible), sacrifice and quiet endurance. That is also ____62____ letters take up such a special place in Chinese storytelling. ____63____ (write) Chinese has long carried emotional weight beyond word-for-word meaning. A seemingly simple sentence can hold layers of regret, tenderness, longing, ____64____ restraint. In Dear You, handwritten letters become more than ____65____ story tool — they stand for a distinctly East Asian emotional aesthetic, where the quiet depth of oriental love is fully presented. 【答案】56. generations 57. on##upon 58. to keep 59. openly 60. buried 61. responsibility 62. why 63. 固定搭配be intended to do sth. Does Money Equal Success? ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】例文 Does Money Equal Success? When it comes to the relationship between money and success, opinions vary. From my perspective, money is by no means the only standard to measure one’s achievement. My uncle is a typical example. He runs a small restaurant in our neighbourhood. Though he doesn’t earn a fortune, his customers always speak highly of his sincere service and delicious food. His kindness has earned him respect from all of us. In my view, true success lies not in how much wealth one possesses, but in one’s positive attitude towards life and contribution to society. Money can be a tool, but never the final goal. 【解析】 【导语】题目要求考生投稿给校英文报,围绕“金钱是否等同于成功”发表观点并举例论证。 【详解】1.词汇积累 贡献:contribution→ devotion 衡量:measure → evaluate 称赞:speak highly of → praise 美味的:delicious → tasty 2.句式拓展 合并简单句 原句:My uncle is a typical example. Tom had no choice but to turn to his parents for help. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ At that moment, both Mom and Dad saw clearly what they had missed. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Tom had no choice but to turn to his parents for help. Clutching the broken watch, he hurried home. Like usual, the house lay empty and quiet. But this time, the loneliness felt unbearable — not because Ling was gone, but because the people he truly needed were absent. He waited and waited. It was nearly midnight when his parents finally returned. They were alarmed to see Tom curling up on the sofa, face wet with tears. “What happened, Tom?” Mom rushed over. Wordlessly, he held out the broken watch. Dad soon fetched his toolbox trying to fix it, but in vain. Seeing this, Tom couldn’t contain himself any longer and burst into desperate sobs. Between gasps, he poured out his loneliness — the silent dinners, the empty house, the longing for someone to be there. At that moment, both Mom and Dad saw clearly what they had missed. They realized that no watch, however smart, could ever take the place of their presence. Immediately, Mom wrapped her arms around Tom, apologizing, “I’m so sorry. We thought the watch was enough, but we were wrong.” Dad knelt beside them, his voice thick with guilt. “From now on, we’ll be home earlier. No more lonely dinners.” Together they drew up a family schedule — Tuesday night board games, Friday pizza-making, Sunday afternoons in the park. They promised to make it a weekly routine and wrote it on the family calendar in bright colors. That night, the family came to understand technology might offer comfort, but only love could fill the silence of an empty home. 3.词汇激活: 行为类: ① 紧握:clutch /hold tightly ② 修理:fix /repair/mend ③ 倾诉:pour out /speak out ④ 制定:draw up /work out 情绪类: ① 绝望的:desperate /hopeless ② 深感内疚:thick with guilt /feel extremely ashamed ③ 欣慰的:relieved /comforted 【点睛】【高分句型 1】They were alarmed to see Tom curling up on the sofa, face wet with tears.(运用了不定式作状语和独立主格) 【高分句型 2】They realized that no watch, however smart, could ever take the place of their presence.(运用了that 引导的宾语从句,以及 however 引导的让步状语从句的省略形式) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $浙江省A九协作体暑假返校学情诊断高2英语听力部分第一节听下面五段录音,每段录音后有一个小题,从题中所给的ABC3个选项中选出最佳选项。 Sir, did you eat or drink anything after ten PM.
