Music filled the silence of the practice room. Our teacher made the dance look so easy when
she was demonstrating()it herself. Her movements flowed naturally with the rhythm of the
music. Her eyes filled with confidence while she looked at herself in the mirror. Her dancing
appealed to me.
Finishing the demonstration, she told us,"It's your time to shine!"Over the course of four
months,we practiced week after week as we prepared for our final performance:a real performance
with an actual audience. That thought of standing onstage in front of a cheering crowd gave me
instant stage fright.
In the beginning,we'd even grab drinks together after rehearsal (and evaluate our own
mistakes from the sessions. However, after a couple of weeks, our movements weren't the same as
usual. Some of my classmates no longer cared about the performance;others no longer felt
motivated to improve their dancing abilities. So why did we continue practising if we didn't even
plan to finish it?
Matching the teacher's dancing was an impossible goal. But I still used the course as a chance
to start improving, even if it meant that I started at the very bottom.I didn't pressure myself to

perfect the choreography ()I let that pressure move through my body instead, until I no longer
saw myself in the mirror memorizing steps but actually dancing to the music.
On the day of the performance, recalling the way my teacher danced attracted me that first day,
I entered the stage.I couldn't see the audience thtough the bright spotlights. It was all dark around
us,which made me less nervous.I only focused on my body,my mind, and the music,My mind
was empty;I lost myself in the dance.I succeeded. And I knew at that moment,I engaged others,
too.
24.What do we know about the author's teacher?
A.She proved dance learning was easy.B.She enjoyed looking into the mirror.
C.She showed a positive self-identity.D.She was demanding with students.
25.What occurred to some classmates after weeks of rehearsal?
A.They stopped seeking feedback actively.
B.They lost enthusiasm for practising.
C.They focused on other things instead.
D.They avoided social interactions after practice
26.How did the author practise dancing?
A.By observing every small step.
B.By arranging the movements.
C.By prolonging practice hours.
D.By co-existing with pressure.
27.What is the suitable title for the text?
A.Dancing my way to Success
B.A Rewarding Dance Rehearsal

Scientists estimate there are millions of trees on earth.I couldn't believe that those trees can
have a healing治愈的)effect on people.
According to World Health Organization,40 percent of American adults have at least two
chronic()diseases,which include high blood pressure, mood disorders, heart problems and
diabetes.According to the Interational Association of Applied Psychology, lower stress, better
moods, better brain activity and even happiness can all be linked to spending time in the great
outdoors. That's why there are dozens of programs that prescribe nature as a potential form of
healing.Nature is everywhere.
There are two major theories as to why nature is so good for our brains. The first one is called
attention restoration theory. When we spend time in busy urban environments, all the hard edges,
6
traffic, lights and people everywhere really make us have to constantly focus our attention on these
things.Whereas when you spend time in nature,it helps restore your powers of attention and reduce
that tiredness and bad-temper.The second major theory is called stress reduction theory. So
basically, when we spend time in nature after stressful events,it helps us feel better and recover
faster.
When I recommended nature for the first time to a patient of mine,he actually just nodded his
head and said,"You're absolutely right.When I spend more time in nature,I feel better."And so,I
think healthcare providers have to get over our own traditional mental views against this new sort of
lifestyle, and prescribe something evidence-based,like nature time more often.
This is worth the effort to do.You need to get out of doors and just be surrounded by the
greenery and by nature. You'll feel calmer. You'll feel less depressed and less anxious. It's just a
great way to deal with the stress of modem life.
28.Which word can replace the underlined word "prescribe"?
A.Practice.B.Provide.
C.Suggest.
D.Explore.
29.What is the function of paragraph 2?
A.To clarify a concept.
B.To lead in the topic.
C.To make a conclusion.
D.To provide evidence.
30.How does nature help people according to the two major theories?
A.Refresh oneself.
B.Live a better life.
C.Improve urban environments.
D.Deal with stressful issues.
31.What can be inferred according to paragraph 4?
A.It is not easy to get in nature.B.Nature treatment is still unpopular.
C.Most patients prefer nature treatment.D.Doctors usually recommend nature to patients.

A Japanese city is using AI to help with the problem of kids not wanting to go to school.
They look at students'information to see who might stop coming because of worries, being bullied
(欺凌),or other problems.
In a city near Tokyo, they tested an Al system for a year. They wanted to help teachers find
students who are having a hard time.In Japan, more and more kids are not going to school for a
long time.In 2022,almost 300,000 kids didn't go to school for 30 days or more.

The AI system looks at things like how often kids go to school, how well they do in school,
and if they are healthy. It also looks at if they visit the school nurse a lot or if there are reports about
them being bullied.
The system then uses past data to see how likely it is that a student will stop going to school.
It gives each student a color, from red (highest risk)to yellow (lowest risk).
In the test, the program said 1,193 students were at high risk.Teachers decided that 265 of
them needed help right away.
To keep kids'information safe, the city made rules about how to use the data and not to treat
students unfairly because of the AI's predictions. They also told parents they could say no to using
their kids'data.Only important people in the school, like headmasters, could see the results
"By using real information,we might be able to stop kids from not wanting to go to school,"
said Makiko Nakamuro,a professor from Keio University and an expert on education."But we
have to think really hard about keeping their data safe by telling them clearly why and how we use
their information,"she also said.
32.What is the main purpose of using Al in the Japanese city?
A.To improve students'scores.
B.To study students'health conditions.
C.To make bullying problems happen less in schools.
D.To find students at risk of not attending school.
33.What is paragraph 3 mainly about?
A.The job of school nurses.
B.How the AI system checks kids'health.
C.The main focus of the AI system.
D.Why students need better education.
34.How did the city protect students'information?
A.Make strict rules about data using.
B.Hide all the data after testing.
C.Give up using their real information.D.Send the result only to their parents.
35.What is Makiko Nakamuro's attitude towards the AI system?
A.Doubtful.B.Supportive.
C.Anxious.
D.Confused.

Does your teenager seem addicted to the Intemet?Probably yes.36At first, parents

welcome the Internet into their homes, believing they are opening up an exciting new world of
educational chances for their children.37 Instead of using the Internet for homework or
research, they are spending hours messaging with friends, playing online games or talking to
strangers in chat rooms.
Keeping a healthy balance between entertainment media and other activities in their children's
lives has always been a challenge for parents. The Intemet has made this challenge even more
difficult.38
However, parents are usually not aware that there is a problem until it becomes serious. This
is because it is easy to hide what you are doing online and Internet addiction is not widely
recognized by the medical community.
Children and young people can easily become hooked on online activities such as
multi-player games, instant messaging and chat rooms. The most vulnerable children are those who
are unpopular or shy with peers.39 Boys,in particular, are frequent users of online
role-playing games, where they assume new identities and interact with other players. For the
children who are not so outgoing, playing these games with thousands of other users may
apparently be a social activity.40.So parents need to help children limit the online time to
an appropriate amount.
A.That is especially obvious when it comes to online social games.
B.In fact, playing too much can further keep them away from friends and peers
C.The amount of time teenagers spend online is a source of concern for many parents.
D.But numerous parents don't discover this worrying situation and ignore it naturally.
E.However, many parents soon realize that their kids were gradually becoming Internet addicts.
F.The engaging nature of the Internet makes many children lose track of time when they're online.
G.They can be easily attracted to the opportunities for creating new identities in online
communities.
