T:What animal do you keep as a pet? Why? (parrots,cats,dogs,rabbits....) Step 2:Pre-writing A2:Have students brainstorm and answer the following question. What can you write about an animal friend? Summary: We can write his/her name, looks, habits, characters and so on. A3:Have students read Suzy’s fact file about an animal friend in Part D1 on page 65 and answer the following question. What does Suzy write about her animal friend? Then have students answer the question: What is paragraph 4 about? A4:Have students summarize the main points of each paragraph and finish the following chart. A5:Have students find useful expressions in the article and come up with more. Then have students finish the chart below. A6:Have students think about what else they can add to the fact file. Step 3:While-writing A7:Have students write an article about their animal friends. They can refer to Part D2 and“Useful expressions”on page 66 for ideas about structure, content and expressions. Step4:Post-writing A8:Have students check their writing after they finish and exchange drafts with their partners for review. Then have students revise their articles. A9:Have students share their articles in class, evaluate which one is the best and learn from each other. A10:Give students a writing sample.
