重难点
1. Teaching Key Points
Vocabulary: Ensure students can accurately master and use vocabulary related to homes, such as “bedroom”, “living room”, “kitchen”, “bathroom” etc.
Sentence Patterns: Make sure students can correctly use sentence patterns for describing homes, like “I live in a/an...”, “There is/are...in my house.”, “My house is...(big/small/beautiful etc.)”
Grammar: Focus on the correct application of the simple present tense and the present continuous tense in the context of home - related descriptions. For example, “My father usually reads newspapers in the living room.” (simple present tense) and “My mother is cooking dinner in the kitchen now.” (present continuous tense)
2. Teaching Difficult Points
Tense Distinction: Help students clearly distinguish between the simple present tense and the present continuous tense, and correctly use them in different situations. Some students may be confused about when to use each tense.
Oral and Written Expression: Guide students to organize their language smoothly and vividly when describing their homes in speaking and writing. They need to not only use correct grammar and vocabulary but also make their descriptions interesting and detailed.
Cultural Awareness: Cultivate students' awareness of cultural differences in home - related concepts. For example, the layout and function of houses in different cultures may vary, and students should understand these differences.
教学过程
教学环节
学习活动(包含设计意图)
Lead - in (5 minutes)
Activity: Show some pictures of different types of houses around the world on the PPT, including traditional Chinese courtyard houses, American suburban houses, and European apartments.
Teacher's Instruction: “Boys and girls, look at these pictures. These are different houses from all over the world. Can you describe them briefly? What kind of houses do you like best? Why?”
Design Intent: This activity can quickly attract students' attention, arouse their interest in the topic of “home”, and activate their prior knowledge about different houses. It also provides an opportunity for students to practice oral English in a free - talking situation.
Presentation (12 minutes)
Activity: Conduct a vocabulary review game. Divide the class into two groups. The teacher shows the pictures of different parts of a house (such as bedroom, living room, balcony, etc.) on the PPT one by one. The two groups race to say the English words corresponding to the pictures. The group that says more words correctly within a certain time wins.
Teacher's Instruction: “Now, let's play a game. Look at the pictures carefully. Which group can say the English words faster? Let's start!”
Design Intent: This game - based vocabulary review can make the learning process more interesting and competitive. It helps students review and consolidate the vocabulary related to houses they have learned before, and at the same time, improves their reaction speed and speaking ability.
Practice (15 minutes)
Activity: Play a recording of three students introducing their homes. The first student lives in an apartment, the second in a house with a garden, and the third in a villa. Before playing the recording, ask students to read the following questions on the PPT:
What kind of house does each student live in?
How many rooms are there in their houses?
What are their family members doing in the house?
After playing the recording for the first time, let students answer the first two questions. Then play the recording again, and ask students to answer the third question.
Teacher's Instruction: “Now, listen carefully to the recording. Three students are introducing their homes. Try to answer the questions on the screen.”
Design Intent: This listening activity can train students' listening comprehension ability. By setting relevant questions, students are guided to focus on key information in the listening materials. Listening twice can meet the different needs of students with different listening levels and help them better understand the content.
Production (10 minutes)
Activity: Provide students with a short passage about a special home, such as a tree house. Let students read the passage silently first, and then answer some comprehension questions on the PPT, such as:
Where is the tree house located?
What materials are used to build the tree house?
What are the advantages of living in a tree house?
After students answer the questions, ask them to find some new words or phrases in the passage and explain their meanings.
Teacher's Instruction: “Read the passage carefully and answer the questions. Then, share the new words and phrases you find with the class.”
Design Intent: Reading this short passage can expand students' reading volume and improve their reading comprehension ability. The comprehension questions can help students understand the main idea and key details of the passage. The activity of finding new words and phrases can also enrich students' vocabulary.
Summary and Homework (3 minutes)
Activity: Summarize the key points of this class with students, including important vocabulary, sentence patterns, and grammar. Then assign homework:
Write a short passage about their own homes, using at least five sentences.
Search for more information about unique homes around the world and share it with the class next time.
Teacher's Instruction: “Let's review what we have learned today. Remember to finish your homework on time.”
Design Intent: Summarizing can help students review and consolidate the knowledge of this class. The homework assignment can not only strengthen students' writing ability but also encourage them to explore more knowledge about homes independently, which is conducive to the cultivation of their autonomous learning ability.
