Extended reading Mama and her bank account Unit 2 Let's talk teens Mama always give their children unconditional love. There are famous writings about Mama and her love. Mama‘s Bank Account is a novel by Kathryn Forbes, published in 1943. It is the story of an immigrant Norwegian family living in San Francisco in the 1920s, told as a series of recollections from one of the daughters. Though they are poor and struggling, the mother of the family, Mama, never fails to get the family through difficulties with her simple values and wisdom. When she was older, Katrin found out that the Bank Account did not exist. Mama made it up to make the children feel secure. Plot is the sequence of important events that happen in the story from beginning, middle and end. It is made up of five parts: exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution.
