根据第一段中“Described by The Irish Times as “A Dragons’ Cave for writers”, each year the Fair aims to introduce up-and-coming writers to top publishers and literary agents. (被《爱尔兰时报》描述为“作家的龙洞”,每年的书展旨在向顶级出版商和文学代理商介绍崭露头角的作家)”可知,书展的目的在于为作家提供平台,让他们被出版商和文学代理商认识。故选C项。 【2题详解】 推理判断题。根据The Prize中“To get fully prepared for the meeting with publishers and agents, the winners will receive a place in a workshop on “How to Promote Your Novel”, two weeks in advance. (为了充分准备与出版商和代理商的会面,获奖者将提前两周获得参加“如何推广你的小说”研讨会的机会)”可知,研讨会将会教获奖者推广他们的小说。由此推知,这会帮助他们把小说精彩地呈现出来。故选D项。 【3题详解】 细节理解题。根据How to Enter中“Applicants are required to send a summary within 300 words and up to five chapters of their novel (申请人必须提交一篇300字以内的摘要,以及小说五个章节以内的内容)”可知,一篇200字的摘要符合书展的要求。故选A项。 B Seated at the grand piano in MIT’s Killian Hall last fall first-year student Jacqueline Wang played one piece of Mozart’s music. When she’d finished, Mi-Eun Kim, a pianist and lecturer at MIT, asked her to move to the back of the hall. Kim tapped at an iPad. Suddenly, the music Wang had just played poured forth again from the piano — its keys sinking and rising just as they had with Wang’s fingers on them. Wang stood with a confused expression, taking in a repeat of her own performance. This unusual lesson took place during a three-week residency (驻留期) of the Steinway Spirio|r, a piano that obtains the data of live performances and offers students new possibilities for studying and experimenting with music. Wang was one of several participants to have the experience of hearing herself play while watching the data of her performance move up and down across a screen: color-coded rectangles (矩形) indicating the speed and duration of each note, and a moving line charting her use of the damper pedal (阻尼踏板). Wang could even edit her own performance when Kim suggested her rhythmic use of the pedal might be unnecessary. Using the iPad interface to erase the pedaling entirely, they listened to the playback again, the notes gaining new clarity, For Wang, the session introduced an element she’d never experienced since beginning her piano studies. The visual display of how long each key was played and with what speed gave her a more precise demonstration of the ideas of voicing and evenness. Playing the piano is one of the most complex activities that humans do with their hands. Some people might think the new technology will replace the pianist. In Kim’s view, that human complexity is complemented by this kind of technical possibility. But it doesn’t mean all of the things that go into learning music will be abandoned. It’s going to be an invaluable third partner: the student, the teacher, and the Spirio|r. It’s going to play a necessary role in lots of musical efforts. 4. What happened after Jacqueline Wang finished her performance? A. Her teacher played a piece of music to compete against her. B. She got her performance reviewed on the Spirio|r. C. She was asked to comment on her performance. D. Her teacher instructed her to improve her skills. 5. What can we say about the new piano technology? A. It is difficult to operate. B. It needs to be more intelligent. C. It might reveal users’ privacy. D. It is beneficial for students’ learning. 6. What does the author intend to express in the last paragraph? A. The music world is full of uncertainties. B. Technology cannot replace human pianists. C. There won’t be fiercer competition among pianists. D. Pianists should be updated with the latest technology. 7. What can be the best title for the text? A. Making Full Use of MIT’s Program B. The Evolution of Musical Instruments C. Exploring Music with the Steinway Spirio|r D. The Challenges of Learning a New Instrument 【答案】4. B 5. D 6. B 7. 根据文章第一段“Seated at the grand piano in MIT’s Killian Hall last fall, first-year student Jacqueline Wang played one piece of Mozart’s music. When she’d finished, Mi-Eun Kim, a pianist and lecturer at MIT, asked her to move to the back of the hall. Kim tapped at an iPad. Suddenly, the music Wang had just played poured forth again from the piano - its keys sinking and rising just as they had with Wang’s fingers on them.(去年秋天,麻省理工学院基利安音乐厅的一年级学生Jacqueline Wang坐在大钢琴前演奏了一首莫扎特的作品。她演奏完后,麻省理工学院(MIT)讲师、钢琴家Mi-Eun Kim请她搬到大厅后面去。Kim敲击了一下iPad。突然间,王刚弹奏的乐曲又从钢琴上流出来——琴键的上下起伏,就像他们在王刚的手指上弹奏时那样。)”以及文章第三段“Wang was one of several participants to have the experience of hearing herself play while watching the data of her performance move up and down across a screen: color-coded rectangles (矩形) indicating the speed and duration of each note, and a moving line charting her use of the damper pedal (阻尼踏板).(Wang是几个参与者之一,她一边听自己演奏,一边看着她的演奏数据在屏幕上上下移动:用颜色编码的矩形表示每个音符的速度和持续时间,用一条移动的线表示她使用阻尼踏板的情况。)” 根据文章第四段“For Wang, the session introduced an element she’d never experienced since beginning her piano studies. The visual display of how long each key was played and with what speed gave her a more precise demonstration of the ideas of voicing and evenness.(对王来说,这节课引入了一种她开始学习钢琴以来从未体验过的元素。每个琴键播放的时间和速度的视觉显示,让她更准确地展示了声音和均匀的概念。)”以及最后一段“In Kim’s view, that human complexity is complemented by this kind of technical possibility. But it doesn’t mean all of the things that go into learning music will be abandoned. It’s going to be an invaluable third partner: the student, the teacher, and the Spirio|r. It’s going to play a necessary role in lots of musical efforts(在Kim看来,人类的复杂性得到了这种技术可能性的补充。 根据文章最后一段“Some people might think the new technology will replace the pianist. In Kim’s view, that human complexity is complemented by this kind of technical possibility. But it doesn’t mean all of the things that go into learning music will be abandoned. It’s going to be an invaluable third partner: the student, the teacher, and the Spirio|r. It’s going to play a necessary role in lots of musical efforts.(有些人可能认为新技术将取代钢琴家。在Kim看来,人类的复杂性得到了这种技术可能性的补充。但这并不意味着学习音乐的所有东西都将被抛弃。它将成为一个无价的第三方伙伴:学生、老师和Spirio|r钢琴。它将在许多音乐努力中发挥必要的作用。)”可知,这表明作者认为技术虽然提供了新的可能性,但它并不能取代人类钢琴家的角色。故选B。 【7题详解】 主旨大意题。根据文章第二段“This unusual lesson took place during a three-week residency(驻留期) of the Steinway Spirio|r, a piano that obtains the data of live performances and offers students new possibilities for studying and experimenting with music.(这一不同寻常的课程是在为期三周的Steinway Spirio|r钢琴驻留期间进行的。Steinway Spirio|r是一架钢琴,它可以获得现场表演的数据,并为学生提供学习和实验音乐的新可能性。)”以及全文内容可知,文章主要围绕Steinway Spirio|r这架特殊的钢琴展开,介绍了它的功能以及它如何为学生提供学习和实验音乐的新可能性。特别是在最后一段,文章明确提到了这架钢琴将在音乐学习和演奏中发挥重要的作用。而标题C“Exploring Music with the Steinway Spirio|r(用Steinway Spirio|r来探索音乐)”正好捕捉了文章的核心内容。故选C。 C From misremembering a movie quote to forgetting a vital ingredient from the shops for an evening dinner, the human memory is not always reliable. Now, researchers have discovered that sleep may play a key role in distorting (扭曲) memories, but perhaps in a good way. As part of this study, researchers from the University of York’s Department of Psychology tested 488 participants on their ability to recall a list of words 12 hours after seeing them, with some of the participants being allowed to sleep in the 12-hour period. They found that those who had slept remembered more of the words on the list than those who had not, but they were also more likely to give words that weren’t on the list, but were related. The related incorrect words are known as “lure words”. If a list contained words like nurse, hospital and sick, the false memories may include lure words like doctor. Dr Matthew Mak, first author of the study, said, “Participants may falsely recall the lure words because ‘doctor’ most probably represents the gist (要旨) of the word list, and humans are known to often rely on gist encoding.” Co-author Professor Gareth Gaskell added, “Memories in some ways are more about our future than our past. They exist to provide knowledge about our past that can be applied in a generalised way to help us to deal with future events. So a gist-like representation might actually be more useful than a ‘perfect’detailed representation. What sleep might be doing is helping us to store memories in a gist-like way that can then be better applied to our future interactions.” However, the researchers did recognize several limitations of their study, namely that all participants were aged between 18 and 25, and that the tests were performed online, meaning that other distractions (干扰) and environments could not be controlled. 8. What does paragraph 3 mainly tell us about the study? A. Its purpose. B. Its process. C. Its subject. D. Its finding. 9. What is Gaskell’s attitude to a gist-like representation? A. Negative. B. Doubtful. C. Favorable. D. Unclear. 10. What message does the author want to convey in the last paragraph? A. The tests make little sense. B. The study needs improving. C. The conclusion is satisfying. D. The participants are nervous. 11. Which can be a suitable title for the text? A. Sleep May Bring About False Memories B. Old People Tend to Have Short Memories C. A Good Night’s Sleep Keeps Us Energetic D. Rising Early Delivers a Promising Start 【答案】8. D 9. C 10. B 11. 根据文章第三段“They found that those who had slept remembered more of the words on the list than those who had not, but they were also more likely to give words that weren’t on the list, but were related. The related incorrect words are known as “lure words”. If a list contained words like nurse, hospital and sick, the false memories may include lure words like doctor. (他们发现,那些睡过觉的人比那些没有睡过觉的人记住了更多的单词,但他们也更有可能给出不在列表中但相关的单词。相关的错误词被称为“诱饵词”。如果列表包含护士、医院和病人等词,则错误记忆可能包括医生等诱饵词。)”可知,本段主要讲述了该研究的发现,故选D项。 【9题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中“Co-author Professor Gareth Gaskell added, “Memories in some ways are more about our future than our past. They exist to provide knowledge about our past that can be applied in a generalised way to help us to deal with future events. So a gist-like representation might actually be more useful than a ‘perfect’detailed representation. What sleep might be doing is helping us to store memories in a gist-like way that can then be better applied to our future interactions.” 根据文章最后一段“However, the researchers did recognize several limitations of their study, namely that all participants were aged between 18 and 25, and that the tests were performed online, meaning that other distractions(干扰)and environments could not be controlled. (然而,研究人员确实认识到他们研究的几个局限性,即所有参与者的年龄都在18至25岁之间,并且测试是在线进行的,这意味着无法控制其他干扰和环境。)”可知,作者在最后一段中想说明该研究还有待进一步完善,故选B项。 【11题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文尤其是第一段中“Now, researchers have discovered that sleep may play a key role in distorting(扭曲)memories, but perhaps in a good way. (现在,研究人员发现,睡眠可能在扭曲记忆中起关键作用,但也许是以一种好的方式。)”可知,本文主要介绍英语约克大学的一项研究结果——睡眠可能会使我们产生错误的记忆,故选A项。 D California has been using recycled wastewater for many years. A team has used it to make ice surfaces for the game of hockey(冰球运动). It has been used to make snow for the sport of skiing. And farmers use it to water their crops. But it has not been used directly for drinking water. Recently, California officials approved new rules to let water agencies recycle wastewater and put it right back into the pipes that carry drinking water to homes, schools, and businesses. It is a big step for California. California’s new rules would let—but not require—water agencies to take wastewater, treat it, and then put it right back into the drinking water system. That means proving to people that recycled water is not only safe to drink but also not dirty. California would be just the second US state to permit this, following Colorado. It has taken officials more than 10 years to develop these rules, a process that included several studies by independent groups of scientists. A project in San Diego is aiming to produce nearly half of the city’s water through recycling wastewater by 2035. And the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California aims to produce up to nearly 570 million liters(升)a day for its 19 million people. Adel Hagekhalil is with Metropolitan Water. He said the new rules will permit new projects that have not yet been considered. California’s new rules require the wastewater be treated for all bacteria and viruses, even if they are not present in the wastewater. In fact, the treatment is so intense that it removes all of the minerals that make fresh drinking water taste good. That means the minerals need to be added back at the end of the process. Polhemus is a director of the drinking water group for the California Water Resources Control Board. “It’s at the same drinking water quality, and probably better in many instances,” he said, adding that it takes time and money to build these treatment centers. So, they will only be available for bigger cities at first. 12. What does paragraph 1 mainly tell us about the recycled wastewater? A. Its qualities. B. Its functions. C. Its target users. D. Its disadvantages. 13. What do California and Colorado have in common? A. They made some new rules on pollution. B. They spent ten years recycling wastewater. C. They tried to make wastewater safe to drink. D. They requested water agencies to speed up treating water. 14. What is Polhemus’s attitude to turning recycled wastewater to drinking water? A. Doubtful. B. Favorable. C. Pessimistic. D. Indifferent. 15 What is the best title for the text? A. The Process of Recycling Wastewater Is Complicated B. California Tries to Reduce the Wastewater Generation C. California Permits Turning Wastewater to Drinking Water D. New Wastewater Treatment Projects Have Been Approved 【答案】12. B 13. C 14. B 15. 根据第一段中的“A team has used it to make ice surfaces for the game of hockey(冰球运动). It has been used to make snow for the sport of skiing. And farmers use it to water their crops. (一个团队用它来制作冰球比赛的冰面。它被用来为滑雪运动造雪。农民们用它来灌溉他们的作物。)”可知,本段主要介绍了将废水用来制作冰球比赛的冰面,用废水为滑雪运动造雪,农民用废水灌溉庄稼。由此可推知,本段主要介绍的是回收的废水的功能。故选B。 【13题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中的“California’s new rules would let—but not require—water agencies to take wastewater, treat it, and then put it right back into the drinking water system. That means proving to people that recycled water is not only safe to drink but also not dirty. California would be just the second US state to permit this, following Colorado.(加利福尼亚州的新规定将允许但不要求水务机构收集废水,进行处理,然后将其直接送回饮用水系统。 通读全文,尤其是第二段“Recently, California officials approved new rules to let water agencies recycle wastewater and put it right back into the pipes that carry drinking water to homes, schools, and businesses. Many significant international projects have considered how schooling might change to better match the changes that have taken place in the 21st century. ____16____ One is a shift in the meaning of knowledge, and the other is the need to build education systems based around what we now know about learning. The term “knowledge age” or “knowledge economy” refers to a reorganization away from an Industrial Age economy, where exploitation (开采) of natural resources, primary production and mass production were the standard models for economic development. ____17____ This is achieved through the rapid creation of new knowledge and has become the basis for economic development. It is argued that education for the knowledge age must focus on the development of learners’ competences to deal with new situations and environments. ____18____ Nor does it deny the need for obvious goals for students’ knowledge development. Rather, the future-focused education literature suggests we need to adopt a much more complex view of knowledge, one that incorporates knowing, doing and being. Alongside this we need to rethink our ideas about how our learning systems are organized, resourced and supported. Research clearly shows that people do not learn well as passive recipients (接受者) of pre-packaged, bite-sized pieces of knowledge. ____19____ Although some of these principles are understood by many teachers, our education systems and practices are often set up in ways that do not support these principles to operate in practice. Teachers and school leaders are attempting paradigm (范式) shifts. ____20____ A. There needs to be wider public support for them. B. There are two important ideas that support this work. C. This does not mean that knowledge no longer matters. D. Good learning requires active engagement in the “whole game”. E. We are required to prepare young people for the knowledge age. F. This is possible only when active learning approaches are applied. G. In the knowledge age, the ability to generate value is put in the first place. B 17. G 18. C 19. D 20. 【16题详解】 根据下文“One is a shift in the meaning of knowledge, and the other is the need to build education systems based around what we now know about learning.”(一个是知识意义的转变,另一个是建立基于我们现在对学习的了解的教育系统的需要。) B“There are two important ideas that support this work.”(有两个重要的观点,可以支持这项工作。) 【17题详解】 根据上文“The term “knowledge age” or “knowledge economy” refers to a reorganization away from an Industrial Age economy, where exploitation (开采) of natural resources, primary production and mass production were the standard models for economic development. ”(“知识时代”或“知识经济”一词指的是工业时代经济的重组,在工业时代,自然资源的开发开采、初级生产和大规模生产是经济发展的标准模式。)提到了工业时代的情况。所以空处应该承接前文,讲述知识时代的情形。选项G“In the knowledge age, the ability to generate value is put in the first place.”(在知识时代,创造价值的能力被放在首位。) 下文“This is achieved through the rapid creation of new knowledge and has become the basis for economic development. ”(这是通过快速创造新知识来实现的,并已成为经济发展的基础。)中的This是知识时代的指代,故选G项。 【18题详解】 根据后文“Nor does it deny the need for obvious goals for students’ knowledge development.”(它也不否认学生的知识发展需要明确的目标。) C“This does not mean that knowledge no longer matters.” 【19题详解】 根据前文“Research clearly shows that people do not learn well as passive recipients (接受者) of pre-packaged, bite-sized pieces of knowledge.”(研究清楚地表明,被动接受预先包装好的、零碎的知识不会让人学得很好。) D“Good learning requires active engagement in the “whole game”.”(良好的学习需要积极参与“整个游戏”。) 【20题详解】 根据前文“Although some of these principles are understood by many teachers, our education systems and practices are often set up in ways that do not support these principles to operate in practice. Teachers and school leaders are attempting paradigm (范式) shifts. ”(虽然其中一些原则被许多教师所理解,但我们的教育系统和实践往往是以不支持这些原则在实践中运作的方式建立起来的。教师和学校领导正在尝试范式转变。)可知,许多教师理解的原则在实践中并不被教育系统所支持,大大促使教师和学校领导要做出转变。作为段落的结尾句,应该提出对于教师和学校领导的转变要有支持。选项A“There needs to be wider public support for them.”(他们需要得到更广泛的公众支持。)中的“them”指代前文的“teachers and school leaders”,符合题意,故选A项。 When Tom Blake was a young boy, watching a jet (喷气式飞机) streak across the sky, he knew flying was what he wanted to do when he grew up. Shopping once a month was a well-planned process. My list was organized so that I wouldn’t miss even one item. I knew the aisle, order, and cost of each item. A gentleman in a suit stood behind me with three items in his hads. He looked up at his watch, then at me and smiled. I’d already let a person ahead of me with a single item. While my daughter was behaving well, I knew I’d pushed her longer than her endurance promised to last. Still, I felt for the man; he obviously had to be somewhere, and he’d be behind me a good long time. “Why don’t you go ahead of me?” I said shifting the cart backwards. “You only have a couple of items. “Thank you,” he replied appreciatively, stepping ahead of me. My daughter gave him a broad smile. “Heh wo,” she said in her sweetest voice. “Hello,” he replied, taken off guard by her friendliness. His face lit with pleasure. As the belt moved forward, I started unloading my cart. His few items were ahead of mine separated by a red marker with the store name on it. I was only halfway finished unloading the first cart when a realization hit me. My husband had borrowed my bank card the night before and I couldn’t recall him putting it back in my wallet. I hurriedly dug out my purse and opened my wallet. My heart dropped. He hadn’t returned it. The gentleman in front of me had paid and was picking up his groceries. “I’ve forgotten my bank card. Could I pay with my phone?” I asked the cashier hopefully. “I’m sorry. We only accept credit card or cash. The cashier looked down the lane, disgusted at the amount of groceries. I’m sure she was predicting she’d have to put items back on the shelves. “It will take me an hour to run home and an hour back. Can you just put my stuff on the side please?“I was discouraged. All my careful planning hadn’t helped. The hour and a half of shopping left me exhausted and I wasn’t sure how my daughter would handle another two hours in the car. 注意:1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Just then, the gentleman in front of me smiled at me. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The next morning, my family knocked at the gentleman’s door. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】范文 Just then, the gentleman in front of me smiled at me. His eyes were shining with kindness and empathy. Without a second thought, he turned to the cashier and said, “I’ll cover her groceries.” I was surprised by his generosity and struggled to find words to express my gratitude. As he swiped his credit card, a wave of relief washed over me. It was a small act of kindness, but it meant the world to me in that moment. With tears welling up in my eyes, I thanked him heartily feeling overwhelmed by the goodness of strangers. The next morning, my family knocked at the gentleman’s door. We wanted to personally express our gratitude for his selflessness and repay his kindness. As he opened the door, we handed him a bouquet of flowers and a heartfelt thank-you note. He was visibly touched and invited us inside for a cup of tea. Sitting in his cozy living room, we shared stories and laughter, realizing that this chance encounter had brought us together. At that moment, I realized that sometimes the greatest blessings come in the form of unexpected friendships. 词汇激活 行为类 ①意识到:realize/be aware of ②寻找:find/search for ③表达:express/extend 情绪类 ①同情:empathy/sympathy ②使惊讶:surprise/astonish 【点睛】[高分句型1] Sitting in his cozy living room, we shared stories and laughter, realizing that this chance encounter had brought us together. B Seated at the grand piano in MIT’s Killian Hall last fall, first-year student Jacqueline Wang played one piece of Mozart’s music. The Challenges of Learning a New Instrument C From misremembering a movie quote to forgetting a vital ingredient from the shops for an evening dinner, the human memory is not always reliable. What sleep might be doing is helping us to store memories in a gist-like way that can then be better applied to our future interactions.” However the researchers did recognize several limitations of their study, namely that all participants were aged between 18 and 25, and that the tests were performed online, meaning that other distractions (干扰) and environments could not be controlled. Rising Early Delivers a Promising Start D California has been using recycled wastewater for many years. 15. What is the best title for the text? A. The Process of Recycling Wastewater Is Complicated B. California Tries to Reduce the Wastewater Generation C. California Permits Turning Wastewater to Drinking Water D. 第三部分语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。 When Tom Blake was a young boy, watching a jet (喷气式飞机) streak across the sky, he knew flying was what he wanted to do when he grew up. The gentleman in front of me had paid and was picking up his groceries “I’ve forgotten my bank card. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
