W: Exactly! I am thinking of taking them to a wildlife park next time, where the animals are kept in large areas, though the admission fee could be higher.
M: That’s true. Watching nature documentaries is also very helpful before the visit. I remember watching some incredible nature shows on TV when I was a kid. I felt like I was right there with the animals in their natural habitat.
W: That sounds like a good idea! Thank you for your suggestion.

18. What is the speaker?
A. A headmaster. B. A student. C. A journalist.
19. What does the speaker think happiness is?
A. Being free of stress.
B. Getting the high scores.
C. Progressing at your own pace.
20. What does the speaker say about short breaks?
A. They are a waste of time.
B. They help students stay focused.
C. They should be longer than study time.
A 19. C 20. B
W: Hello, everyone! It’s my pleasure to present my thoughts on this special occasion. Today I want to talk about happiness in Grade Three. Some of my students think happiness means having no stress. Others believe that getting high scores is happiness. But I see it differently. To me, happiness is about feeling that you’re making progress and staying calm inside, even when things get busy. It’s about moving forward at a pace you can keep up with.
But how can we find this happiness? First, keep things in perspective. Yes, test scores matter, but try to connect your daily efforts to bigger things — like building problem-solving skills. That way, exams become part of your growth, not the whole story. Next, don’t forget to plan your day with purpose. Don’t just fill it with study — make room for breaks too. Take a short walk or spend a few minutes on a hobby. These aren’t wasted moments but restart buttons for your brain. They keep you from burning out and help you stay focused. So dear students, I hope you’ll find my advice helpful and wish you progress every day.

Zhang Hongjun once spent his days on noisy construction sites in Shanghai, far from his rural hometown in Fujian province. For over a decade, his life followed a common path: long hours of labor, low pay, and the loneliness of being a migrant worker in a vast city. He dreamed of a change but saw few opportunities back home.
A visit became a turning point. Staying in his village, Zhang noticed something new. The roads were paved, internet access had reached the village and the local government was offering support to those willing to start businesses. The beautiful mountains and fresh air, once taken for granted, now seemed full of potential to him. An idea began to form: what if he could build a future here, not just make a living there?
Using his savings and a small government allowance, Zhang took a daring step. He transformed his family’s old, empty house into a modern café, a place where city visitors could enjoy coffee while viewing the terraced fields (梯田). At first, neighbors were puzzled. “Who will come to the mountains for coffee?” they asked. Zhang persisted (坚持), learning about coffee beans and coffee-making skills online.
Today, “Mountain Cloud Café” is more than a coffee shop. It’s a window for his village. Tourists come on weekends, and in his café they discover and buy local specialties like mountain tea and dried fruits. Zhang has hired two local women, providing them with steady income. More importantly, his success has sparked (引发) a conversation. A few other young people, who once thought leaving was the only option, are now asking, “Could I come back too?”
“My dream isn’t huge,” Zhang says, looking at the lively scene outside. “I just want our home to prosper, so that our children love to stay here.” His journey paints a picture of modern rural China — one where returning wings bring new life.
24. Which of the following best describes Zhang’s early life as a migrant worker?
A. Simple. B. Secure. C. Unsatisfying. D. Undisturbing.
25. Why did Zhang return and start his Café business?
A. He failed in his job in Shanghai. B. He was in poor health in the city.
C. He was invited by the local government. D. He found new changes and support in his village.
26. What can we learn about Mountain Cloud Café?
A. It helps develop the village. B. It features special coffee beans.
C. It is profitable and custom-made. D. It is popular from beginning to end.
27. What can be the most suitable title for the text?
A. A New Trend of Village Tourism B. The Importance of Local Specialties
C. From Migrant Worker to Café Owner D. Between the city and the village
C 25. D 26. A 27. C
根据第一段“For over a decade, his life followed a common path: long hours of labor, low pay, and the loneliness of being a migrant worker in a vast city.(十多年来,他的人生走的是一条(外来务工群体)常见的道路:长时间的劳作、微薄的收入,以及在一座大城市里作为外来务工人员所经历的孤独)”可知,张宏军作为农民工的生活漫长、收入低、孤独,这体现的是“令人不满意”。
根据第二段“The roads were paved, internet access had reached the village and the local government was offering support to those willing to start businesses. The beautiful mountains and fresh air, once taken for granted, now seemed full of potential to him.(道路已铺设完毕,互联网也已覆盖到村庄,当地政府还为有意创业的人提供支持。那些曾经习以为常的美丽山景和清新空气,如今在他眼中充满了无限潜力)”可知,他回乡发现“道路铺好、网络覆盖、政府支持创业”等新变化,从而萌生开咖啡馆的想法。
【26题详解】
细节理解题。根据第四段“It’s a window for his village. Tourists come on weekends, and in his café they discover and buy local specialties like mountain tea and dried fruits. Zhang has hired two local women, providing them with steady income.(这是他村庄的一扇窗口。周末游客纷至沓来,在他的咖啡馆里发现并购买当地特产,如山茶和干果。张雇佣了两名本地女性,为她们提供了稳定的收入)”可知,咖啡馆成为“村庄的窗口”,带动旅游、销售土特产、雇佣当地妇女,并引发年轻人回乡思考,这些都体现了“帮助村庄发展”。
【27题详解】
主旨大意题。根据最后一段““My dream isn’t huge,” Zhang says, looking at the lively scene outside. “I just want our home to prosper, so that our children love to stay here.” His journey paints a picture of modern rural China — one where returning wings bring new life.(“我的梦想并不宏大,”张看着外面热闹的景象说道,“我只是希望我们的家兴旺起来,让我们的孩子愿意留在这里。”他的经历描绘出一幅现代中国农村的图景——一个归来的翅膀带来新生的地方)”以及全文围绕张宏军从农民工转变为咖啡馆老板的经历展开,并突出这一转变对乡村的积极影响。C项(从农民工到咖啡馆老板)最符合文章标题。
C
Poetry, once a respected literary form using rhythm and imagery to convey emotion, is losing its appeal among young people. This decline invites several explanations. Some blame its complicated language; others point to the rise of visual media. Whatever the cause, poetry seems increasingly irrelevant in modern society.
A key barrier is accessibility. Readers today often find poetry difficult due to abstract language, complex symbolism, or historical references. For instance, Emily Dickinson’s “Hope is the thing with feathers” requires readers to decipher symbolic language, which can be too demanding for today’s readers. In contrast, a short video delivering a similar message in an engaging, straightforward way is far more accessible.
Moreover, other forms of entertainment — music, movies, streaming platforms — have shifted people’s focus from written text to video, images and interactive content. These formats combine storytelling with attractive audio-visual elements, making them more appealing. In an era of constant digital distraction, people prefer quick, digestible content like social media posts. Poetry, which demands focused thought, seems outdated and less attractive.
Furthermore, digital habits discourage deep reading. A 2018 report by the American Psychological Association (APA) study found fewer than 20% of U.S. teens read books daily for pleasure, while 80% use social media. Since poetry relies on deep reading and reflection — skills rarely practiced today — its consumption naturally declines.
Yet poetry is adapting. Digitalization makes poems more approachable: poets share works on social media, reaching global audiences instantly. Lighthearted, humorous poetry is rising without sacrificing artistic quality. For instance, Shel Silverstein’s poems are playful and whimsical (异想天开的), yet they contain creative expressions that help readers reflect upon life in deep ways.
Whether poetry will fade away or come back in new forms remains unclear. The answer lies in narrowing the gap between its traditional and modern forms and finding ways to draw a wider audience. As the world evolves, so must poetry if it wishes to survive and thrive (发展).
28. What does the underlined word “decipher” in paragraph 2 mean?
A. Understand. B. Adopt. C. Generate. D. Rewrite.
29. What makes poetry less popular according to the text?
A. Poetry is becoming increasingly difficult to translate.
B. Audio-visual entertainment has great appeal to people.
C. Young people lose the ability to conduct deep thinking.
D. Digital reading replaces book reading on a large scale.
30. Why are Shel Silverstein’s poems mentioned in paragraph 5?
A. To introduce a topic. B. To illustrate a phenomenon.
C. To support a viewpoint. D. To argue against an opinion.
31. What does the author imply in the last paragraph?
A. Poetry is bound to attract more audience.
B. Poetry is supposed to remain its characteristics.
C. Poetry needs variety and richness in its language forms.
D. Poetry should balance between tradition and modernity.
A 29. B 30. C 31. D
根据第二段中“A key barrier is accessibility. Readers today often find poetry difficult due to abstract language, complex symbolism, or historical references. For instance, Emily Dickinson’s “Hope is the thing with feathers” requires readers to decipher symbolic language, which can be too demanding for today’s readers.
根据第三段“Moreover, other forms of entertainment — music, movies, streaming platforms — have shifted people’s focus from written text to video, images and interactive content. These formats combine storytelling with attractive audio-visual elements, making them more appealing. In an era of constant digital distraction, people prefer quick, digestible content like social media posts. Poetry, which demands focused thought, seems outdated and less attractive.
根据第五段“Yet poetry is adapting. Digitalization makes poems more approachable: poets share works on social media, reaching global audiences instantly. Lighthearted, humorous poetry is rising without sacrificing artistic quality. For instance, Shel Silverstein’s poems are playful and whimsical, yet they contain creative expressions that help readers reflect upon life in deep ways.
根据最后一段中“The answer lies in narrowing the gap between its traditional and modern forms and finding ways to draw a wider audience. As the world evolves, so must poetry if it wishes to survive and thrive. (出路在于缩小传统形式与现代形式之间的鸿沟,找到吸引更多受众的途径。世界在不断发展,诗歌若想要生存并蓬勃发展,也必须与时俱进。)”可知,诗歌想要蓬勃发展就必须与时俱进,缩小传统形式与现代形式之间的鸿沟,也就是要在传统和现代性之间做好平衡。
D
Is the ability to pretend and imagine situations uniquely human? To find out the answer, a team of evolutionary scientists conducted a study with Kanzi, a language-trained bonobo (倭黑猩猩), exploring whether primates (灵长目动物) can fully understand the concept of imaginary objects.
In the experiment, researchers tested Kanzi’s imagination through pretend play. A researcher sat across a table, placing an empty container and a pair of see-through cups on the table between them. The scientist then “poured” imaginary juice into each empty cup before pretending to tip one cup back into the container. Kanzi was then asked to visually locate the remaining juice. The team also recreated this setup by carefully “transferring” pretend grapes between two containers.
Kanzi showed a remarkable capacity to trace the invisible items. He correctly pointed at the cup containing the imaginary liquid in 68% of the trials, and successfully identified the nonexistent fruit in 69% of the grape trials. To rule out that Kanzi was simply confused or failing to perceive reality, researchers ran a control test. Asked to choose between an empty cup used for pretend juice and a glass containing real orange juice, Kanzi routinely chose the real one, proving he engaged in make-believe consciously rather than merely copying human actions.
While originally set up to investigate simple behaviors during structured trials, and conducted against the background that primates lack abstract thought, the study produced findings that go far beyond these initial expectations. “Our evidence shows some primates possess complex cognitive (认知的) processes once thought unique to humans,” said co-author Christopher Krupenye. This breakthrough casts new light on the deep evolutionary origins of human imagination.
Importantly, however, Kanzi spent his entire life interacting with human scientists, acquiring advanced communication skills along the way. It remains unclear whether wild bonobos naturally share this cognitive ability. As psychologist Natalie Awad Schwob noted, “I’d love to see data from more typically raised bonobos to confirm if this imaginative tendency is universal or largely a result of human influence.”
32. What was Kanzi required to do in the experiment in paragraph 2?
A. Mark the location of the cups.
B. Choose between pretend and real juice.
C. Track the movements of imaginary objects.
D. Copy the pouring actions of the researchers.
33. What can we learn about Kanzi from the control test?
A. He purposely mirrored humans. B. He naturally shared the cognitive ability.
C. He distinguished reality from imagination. D. He failed to identify the physical objects.
34. Which aspect of the study does paragraph 4 mainly talk about?
A. Its purpose. B. Its process. C. Its background. D. Its significance.
35. What do Natalie Awad Schwob’s words suggest?
A. The need for data review. B. The negative effect of the research.
C. A barrier to potential application. D. A possible direction for further study.
C 33. C 34. D 35. D
根据第二段“In the experiment, researchers tested Kanzi’s imagination through pretend play. A researcher sat across a table, placing an empty container and a pair of see-through cups on the table between them. The scientist then ‘poured’ imaginary juice into each empty cup before pretending to tip one cup back into the container. Kanzi was then asked to visually locate the remaining juice. The team also recreated this setup by carefully ‘transferring’ pretend grapes between two containers. (在实验中,研究人员通过假装游戏测试坎齐的想象力。一名研究者坐在桌子对面,在两人中间的桌面上摆放一个空容器和两个透明杯子。随后科学家把假想的果汁‘倒入’每个空杯子,再假装把其中一杯倒回容器。之后要求坎齐指出剩下的果汁在哪里。研究团队还重复该实验流程,在两个容器之间小心地‘转移’假想的葡萄。)”及第三段首句“Kanzi showed a remarkable capacity to trace the invisible items. (坎齐展现出追踪看不见的物品的出色能力。)”可知,研究者模拟倾倒假想果汁、转移假想葡萄的动作后,要求坎齐找出剩下的假想物品,本质是追踪假想物体的移动轨迹。
【33题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段中“To rule out that Kanzi was simply confused or failing to perceive reality, researchers ran a control test. Asked to choose between an empty cup used for pretend juice and a glass containing real orange juice, Kanzi routinely chose the real one, proving he engaged in make-believe consciously rather than merely copying human actions.
根据第四段“While originally set up to investigate simple behaviors during structured trials, and conducted against the background that primates lack abstract thought, the study produced findings that go far beyond these initial expectations. ‘Our evidence shows some primates possess complex cognitive processes once thought unique to humans,’ said co-author Christopher Krupenye. 第二节(满分25分)
67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
For the past three months, I had been hiding in plain sight. Every day at lunch, I would slip out of the noisy cafeteria and find a quiet corner in the library’s back hallway. It wasn’t that I hated people — back in my old school, I was the one who always started the lunch table conversations. But here? I just felt like I didn’t belong. My family had moved to this town at the start of the semester, and somehow, everyone else already had their friend groups, their inside jokes, their unspoken rules about where to sit. I had none of that.
My mother noticed. “You need to step out of your zone to reach others,” she would say, packing my lunch with extra care. I would nod, then do the same thing the next day: grab my lunch tray (餐盘), walk toward the cafeteria doors, then turn left toward the library instead.
Then came the afternoon everything changed.
I was sitting in my usual spot, eating alone, when I heard footsteps. An elderly janitor (看门人) named Mr. Elian — someone I had only ever seen pushing a mop (拖把) from a distance — walked toward me with a broom (扫帚) in one hand and his own lunch bag in the other. “Mind if I join you?” he asked, without waiting for an answer, lowering himself onto the floor across from me. I shrugged. It was a free hallway. Then he said something I still remember: “You know, I used to eat alone too. For years, actually.” I looked up. “Really?” He nodded. “After my wife passed. I didn’t know how to be around people anymore. So I found a quiet corner — just like this one — and I stayed there.”
“What changed?” I asked. Mr. Elian smiled. “One day, someone sat down next to me. Didn’t say much. Just sat there. And somehow, that small act reminded me that I wasn’t invisible.” He took a bite of his sandwich and looked at me. “Sometimes,” he said, “the person sitting alone isn’t choosing to be alone. They’re just waiting for someone to notice.”
I didn’t say anything. But something in my chest loosened.
注意:
1.续写的词数应为120左右;
At lunch the next day, I walked straight into the cafeteria.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
After our chat, I noticed Mr. Elian in the distance, smiling.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Paragraph 1:
At lunch the next day, I walked straight into the cafeteria. The roar of conversations hit me like a wave, and my heart was racing. “Just breathe,” I told myself, recalling Mr. Elian’s words. Scanning the room, I caught sight of a boy sitting alone. Taking a deep breath, I stepped over. “Mind if I join you?” I asked. He looked up, surprise melting into a shy smile and agreed. As we chatted casually about school life, the invisible wall around me magically disappeared.
Paragraph 2:
After our chat, I noticed Mr. Elian in the distance, smiling. He gave me a big thumbs-up, and our silent exchange filled me with warmth. His encouraging eyes seemed to praise my bravery. Walking out of the cafeteria, I realized I had finally found a sense of belonging. More importantly, I understood that belonging isn’t found in quiet corners, but is created in the brave moments when we reach out.

Parcel Locker — The Smarter Way to Receive Parcels
What are parcel lockers?
Parcel lockers, also called smart lockers or package lockers, are secure, automated (自动化的) storage units in centralized locations. They are revolutionizing how goods can be delivered and received. People can pick up a package from a locker at a time that suits them, in a convenient location near their residence or workplace.
Why are they not widely used?
Despite all their advantages, parcel lockers are still far from being widely adopted by online shoppers. Many consumers still tend to have their online shopping parcels delivered directly to their homes instead of using parcel lockers, simply because they don’t know this delivery option when placing online orders and thus have never tried it.
Why is EasyLocker different?

注意:
1.续写的词数应为120左右;
At lunch the next day, I walked straight into the cafeteria.
