比如看到“Could you...”

(2025·广东深圳·模拟预测)Writing an art exhibition review (艺术展览评) is a creative experience that helps you express your ideas about an artist’s work. Your review will provide a description of an art exhibit. 1 Here are some tips that may help you write a good art exhibition review.
Walk through the show to watch the artwork. Spare 1-2 hours to experience the art exhibit so you have plenty of time to examine the artwork. Move through the exhibit slowly, examining each piece of artwork. Besides, make several passes through the exhibit. 2
Take notes on the description, the form and your impression. Be as detailed as possible so you can use your notes to write the full review. First, note the title and theme of each work. 3
Finally, record your impression on the art, how it made you feel, and what worked or didn’t work within the piece.
4 While you don’t need to include audience responses in your review, it may help you improve your own review of the show. Watch other comments on the exhibit and write down the sentences that they say.
Talk to the artists if they represent at the exhibit. If you attend on the opening night, you may meet the artists. 5 Ask about what they hope the audience will experience, and how they created their works. Take notes on what they say so you can use the information to write your review.

Moo-ving towards a cleaner earth
Cows give us meat and milk, but they also produce a harmful gas—methane(甲烷). Methane is very powerful at trapping heat in the air(about 30 times more than carbon dioxide (CO₂)). A cow’s stomach has four parts. 6 Each cow gives off about 300L of methane daily. With over 1 billion cows worldwide, methane adds up quickly! One way to fix this is to have fewer cows. 7 So, scientists are trying other ideas.
A company in Australia found that feeding cows seaweed stops their stomachs from producing methane. But cows don’t like the taste of seaweed. 8
Another idea comes from a British company. 9 The mask sends the gas to a system that turns it into carbon dioxide, which is less harmful. The mask can also check the cows’ health.
10 Scientists are working on a vaccine to reduce the methane-making microbes(微生物) in cows’ stomachs. But it’s hard because cows in different places have different stomach microbes. It’s difficult to produce one vaccine that works for all cows.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Long ago in Athens, a girl named Hermia had a big problem. 36 To escape, she ran away with Lysander into a magic forest. Her friend Helena followed, because she loved Demetrius. Demetrius also came, chasing Hermia.
In the forest, the fairy king Oberon and queen Titania fought over a child. 37 The juice from the flower would make Titania fall in love with the first thing she saw. But Oberon also saw the human lovers fighting. He told Puck to fix Demetrius’s heart so he would love Helena. 38 He put the juice on Lysander instead. Now Lysander loved Helena, leaving Hermia crying alone.
Then, a group of funny workers rehearsed a play. Their leader, Bottom, had a donkey’s head after Puck played a trick. Titania woke up and fell in love with him! 39 So he fixed all the magic.
The next morning, everyone woke up happy. Hermia was with Lysander, and Helena was with Demetrius. 40 The workers performed their silly play, and everyone laughed.

What can we do? Here are some tips:
Schools can use videos and books together. 43 Watch a video first, then read for 20 minutes.
Parents can help at home. 44 For example, turn off phones during homework time.

Over the past few years, keyboards have quietly replaced everyday handwriting. However, research shows that writing by hand has some special benefits that digital tools can’t give us.
46 When we write, we hold a pen with our fingers, press it on paper, and move our hands to create letters and words. It requires a lot of our attention. This has been shown to support reading and spelling in children
Adults can also get a lot from handwriting. A study on 42 adults learning Arabic (阿拉伯语) found that those who wrote the letters by hand could recognize them faster than those who typed or just looked at them. 47 The more active our brain is, the better we learn.
A professor named Audrey compares our brain to a road system. 48 With practice and experience, these small roads can become motorways that connect different parts of the brain. This allows information to travel more quickly and efficiently. In another study, she had a new discovery. The whole brain worked when they were writing by hand. 49
As a result, researchers are encouraging the continuous use of pen and paper. 50 It helps us learn and think better.
A.And handwriting helps us keep healthy.
B.Writing by hand uses many of our senses.
C.But smaller areas worked when they were typing.
D.She says brain networks in children are like small roads.
E.Keeping handwriting is a very good exercise for the brain.

“Nezha: The Demon Child’s Descent” has recently hit the screens, captivating audiences with its thrilling plot, stunning visuals, and rich cultural elements. It continues Nezha’s legend, the rebellious yet heroic figure in Chinese mythology.
The story picks up where the first movie left off. After defying fate and saving his hometown in the first movie, Nezha, with his unique look - two tufts of hair, a red bellyband, and a fiery spirit, still struggles to find his place.
A new threat, the powerful and malevolent (恶毒的) demon Mo Luo, emerges from the underworld. Mo Luo aims to plunge the world into chaos with his army of lesser demons. Nezha, along with his loyal friend Ao Bing (who overcame past differences in the first movie), must stop them.
One highlight of “Nezha 2” is character development. Nezha, despite being a hero, grapples (努力解决) with inner demons due to past misunderstandings. Some villagers still doubt him, and he must prove himself again. Ao Bing has grown more confident and is determined to stand by Nezha, using his ice - based powers against evil.
The visual effects are amazing. The battles are full of dazzling (耀眼的) lights, explosive magic, and intricate (复杂的) choreography (编排). The underworld, Mo Luo’s lair, is dark and mysterious with strange creatures. In contrast, Nezha’s hometown, Chentangguan, shows bustling markets and traditional architecture.
The movie delves (深入探讨) into Chinese cultural values. It emphasizes friendship, as seen in Nezha and Ao Bing’s stronger bond. Self - acceptance is also key, with Nezha learning to embrace his true self. The concept of justice is explored as they fight Mo Luo’s evil.

While watching it, my daughter recited (背诵) many poems along with the characters. It’s without doubt a very educational film. Children may get interested in more Chinese poems after watching it.
To make Chang’an an excellent film—being translated properly and culturally meaningful, the creators invited an Australian expert named Linda Jaivin for the dialog translation. They also visited the real historical sites (遗址) to understand how the characters felt in difficult situations.
However, recently, some experts said that some plots (情节) in this film deviated from (偏离) historical facts. My shock and surprise disappeared when I understood that this island was my salvation (得救). I began to shout for help to the people on the island. They did not understand me but they understood that I was in difficulty and made signs for me to move towards them. They moved closer and when I was underneath the island they sent a chair down to me on a chain and pulled me up.
The people on the island were friendly and accepted me but they were incredibly strange. They wore the strangest clothes and they all had their own personal man servant who carried a large balloon on the end of a stick. The servant’s job was to tap (轻拍) his master on his mouth or ear when he needed to speak or listen to something. This was because these masters passed most of their time in intense thought (沉思). They thought about the strangest subjects for hours and hours a day. And as a result they had no sense of practical things in life, such as speaking or listening, or looking where they were going.
I later learnt that this island was called Laputa. Some people took me to speak to the king. When we arrived at his palace, the king was lost in thought and didn’t notice me. I waited for more than an hour until, finally, one of his servant tapped him on the mouth and he spoke.
I didn’t understand their language and could not answer the king. One of the servants tried to tap me on the mouth with his balloon to make me speak. I protested (抗议,反对) very quickly.
“I know exactly when to speak and listen,” I told them. They understood the sense of what I said. But they thought I was a complete idiot because I did not pass my time in thought, too. Then after dinner, a servant came to teach me their language and tell me about life on Laputa.

Volunteering is a wonderful way to help our community and make it a better place. It’s good for both the people who get help and the volunteers.
Many people volunteer because they want to help others. For example, lots of volunteers work at local shelters (收容所). They help take care of homeless people. They also collect used clothes from the public and sort (分类) them carefully. After that, they give the clean and suitable clothes to homeless people. This makes the lives of these people a little easier. Also, volunteering helps volunteers learn new things. When volunteers teach kids to read, they learn how to be more patient. When they help clean up the park, they learn how to work together with others. These new skills are useful in their own lives.
Volunteering is also a great way to make new friends. Volunteers meet different people who all want to help. They can share ideas and have fun while helping others. During breaks in volunteer work, they talk, laugh, and share experiences. And when volunteers see the people they help become happier, they feel really good about themselves. It gives them a sense of happiness. This feeling stays with them and makes them want to volunteer again.

When Justin Tong was a child, other kids felt sorry for him because his parents always made him do lots of housework, such as carrying out the rubbish and sending newspapers. But when he grew up, he was better off than his childhood friends and lived a happier and healthier life.
This is one of the cases of a 40-year study that followed the lives of 456 children in London. The study, led by Daniel Brown, a psychologist (心理学家) in the UK, aimed to find out the connection between childhood labor work (劳动) and later life success.
The study followed these children’s lives closely from a very young age. The researchers interviewed them about their lives at the ages of 25, 31, and 47. And they compared two things: how much labor work the children did during their childhood and how successful their later lives were. The study showed that children who did more childhood labor work had a better future. They were more likely to get good pay, overcome difficulties bravely and have good relationships with different people. That’s because childhood labor work can not only help children develop abilities, independence, and a sense of responsibility but also help them understand that people must work together towards common goals.
It’s never too late to start doing labor work today. Get ready and take on every task, no matter how small it is. Always remember, your labor work will bring you closer to a better and happier future.

Wolves and dogs are relatives, but they are quite different. Dogs like to stay with humans, while wolves don’t. However, there is an unusual wolf in the Kekexili Nature Reserve in Qinghai.
One summer day, a traveller first met the animal when driving through Kekexili. At that time, the wolf looked thin and weak. She took pity on it and offered it some food. Then she shared the video online. With the spread of the video, a great number of visitors came to feed the wolf tasty food, such as pies and chicken. Gradually, the wild animal learned to beg for a meal from passing vehicles by wagging its tail and rolling on the ground. In the latest video, the wolf has changed greatly in its appearance and behavior. It has put on lots of weight and acts like a dog. And more wolves are behaving like the wolf.
Some netizens joked that it showed how a wolf changed into a dog. However, many people are worried that feeding wolves may bring many bad results to humans and wolves. On the one hand, wolves are dangerous and may attack humans. Wild animals, especially injured ones, may carry viruses. So humans need to keep a safe distance from them. On the other hand, the feeding behavior is against the law of nature, which easily makes the wolves depend on humans. Also, too many visitors are harmful to their living areas.
In conclusion, though it’s important to protect wolves, humans shouldn’t intervene (干涉) too much.
36.Where is the unusual wolf?
37.What did visitors do when they met the wolf?
38.What does the wolf act like in the latest video?
39.Why are many people worried about the feeding behavior?

Technology Keeps Grandparents and Grandchildren Connected
When it comes to keeping in touch with grandchildren, grandparents need to learn new technologies. They are taking advantage of choices like video chatting, text messaging and social media (社交网络媒介) to keep in touch with their grandchildren in more ways than ever before, according to a survey.
Mary Taylor is a typical case. She depends on video chatting to stay in touch with her grandchildren, all of whom are under the age of seven. They live in different countries. Mary says video chatting is the next best thing to being with her grandchildren even though it requires planning to schedule calls and taking the time differences into account (考虑到). “It’s not always perfect,” she says, “but it’s certainly better than talking on the phone, especially with kids at those ages.”
According to the survey, more than 20% of grandparents use video chatting to communicate, which is a little less than the number of those who often use text messaging but more than those who prefer to use social media.
But with a number of choices out there, keeping up with new technologies can be a challenge for them. 74-year-old Mary Carr-McNally says she calls her grandchildren back when they text her. “I’m not very good at texting, so I call them back, and then we chat,” she says.
In all, more than 30% of them say that learning new technologies is difficult. That’s why phone calls remain the most popular form of communication for grandparents, nearly half of whom say they talk with their grandchildren by phone.
Still, more than 40% of grandparents say they’re good at learning new technologies. Take Alice Smith for example. She owns a laptop, a tablet and a smartphone, and uses them to keep in touch with her five grandchildren aged 4 to 16. She says she likes to text the older three and depends on video chatting with the younger ones.
“Texting is quick and simple. But we can do a lot of things on video chatting,” she says. “If the kids want to see something, I walk around and show them. Video chatting also allows me to see my loved one’s facial expressions as we speak and does not require typing (打字) or reading small print. It’s the next best thing to meeting someone face-to-face.”
41.How does Mary Taylor stay in touch with her grandchildren?
42.Why do phone calls remain the most popular form of communication for grandparents?
43.Is it difficult for Mary Carr-McNally to learn new technologies?
44.What does Alice Smith think of texting?
45.In your opinion, which is the best way for grandparents to keep in touch with their grandchildren? Why?

At the 2007 Asian Winter Games in Changchun, Jilin province, 17-year-old Xu Mengtao won a silver medal in freestyle skiing women’ aerials (空中腾跃). Eighteen years later, at the 2025 Games in Harbin, she turned that silver into gold and became China’s first snow sports grand slam winner.
“For a player who competes in aerials, it is hard to stay at the top of their game at this age.” the 34-year-old told China Daily.
Xu was born in 1990. She started freestyle skiing at 12. Her journey to the top wasn’t easy. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada, she finished sixth. But that only made her work harder. She won a silver medal at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
In 2016, she hurt her knee badly. Doctors took out nearly 70 percent of the cartilage (半月板) in her left knee. “There were moments when I thought about giving up,” Xu told CCTV News. “I have had a silver medal already. Isn’t that enough?” However, her love for skiing kept her going. After a difficult recovery from surgery, Xu returned to the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in South Korea but only finished in ninth place.
After many injuries and challenges, she competed at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics with steel pins in her body and won her first Olympic gold.
Xu plans to keep competing for as long as she can. She is training hard for the 2026 Milan Winter Olympics. “My passion is the main driver. I truly love aerials,” she told China Daily.

A.They made a special mask for cows.
B.The third solution is to produce a vaccine.
C.To help solve this problem, scientists add sugar to the seaweed.
D.Scientists are trying to improve the mask to reduce CO₂.

Recently, the Chinese government introduced a national plan called “Weight Management Campaign”. It aims to help people manage their weight and live healthier lives. 26
Why is obesity(肥胖) a problem?
Being overweight is not just about good looking. 27 Studies show that by 2030, 70.5% of adults and 31.8% of children could be overweight. If people do not act now, they may face serious health problems at a younger age.
28
Doctors use Body Mass Index (BMI, 体重指数) to check if someone’s weight is healthy. It is a measure (测量方法) that uses your height and weight to work out if you are fit. For Chinese teenagers, a BMI between 15 and 22 is healthy. However, a BMI of 23 means overweight, and over 26 means obesity.
What should we do to keep healthy?
Keeping healthy habits is the most important thing. First, people should eat properly. It is wise to choose brown rice, fresh vegetables and fruit, fish and chicken for meat most of the time. 29 Experts suggest at least 150 minutes of moderate (中等的) exercise per week, like running, cycling, or swimming.
How can society help?
30 Some schools hold sports meetings and set up more sports clubs. Some cities have weight control programs in hospitals. These programs give advice on food choice, exercise, and weight loss.
Remember, small changes make a big difference. Let’s work together to build a healthier and happier China!

Can Short Videos Help Students Learn?
Many students love watching short videos online. 41 But are these videos good for studying? Teachers and parents have different ideas.
42 Some teachers use short videos to teach difficult topics. For example, a science teacher makes 1-minute videos to show how plants grow. Students say this helps them remember better. However, other teachers think these videos make it hard to focus. “After watching fast videos, students can’t sit still to read books,” says Mr. Chen from a middle school.
What can we do? Here are some tips:
Schools can use videos and books together. 43 Watch a video first, then read for 20 minutes.
Parents can help at home. 44 For example, turn off phones during homework time.
Students need to be careful too.
