Do you love ice cream? Try making some delicious ice cream yourself. You can simply make it in a bag if you don't have a fridge!
Steps you take
① Put milk, sugar and cream in a small plastic bag. Slowly seal(密封) the plastic bag to let the air out.
② Put this bag in a second small plastic bag and seal it again. Using two bags can keep the mix from running out.
③ Take out a big plastic bag with ice in it.Then add some salt that can make the ice cooler.
④ Put the small bags with the mix into the big plastic bag and seal it.
⑤ Shake and press the big bag for 5 to 8minutes. Then open the bags and enjoy your ice cream!
Things you need
milk, sugar, cream, salt, ice;
2 small plastic bags;
1 big plastic bag.
Science behind it
Milk has water. If you put the mix
in the fridge, the water in the milk
will turn into ice. This makes the
taste of ice cream not good. But
when you shake and press the bag, the water
stays well in the milk with other things. In this
way, ice cream could taste better.

A. To let the air out. B. To hold the waste.
C. To stop the mix running out. D. To store enough ice and salt.
2. Which picture shows the last step in making ice cream?
3. What does“science behind it” mainly tell us?

D. Why ice cream made in this way tastes more delicious.

My heart was beating so loudly that everyone could hear it. Ijumped into the water and stood on my skis. Slowly the boat moved forward, pulling hard the ski rope. I held the end of the rope as seriously as I could. Mum smiled at me from the back of the boat and said, “You can make it, Mike!”
I was trying very hard to find my earlier feelings of excitement about learning to waterski. “Whose bright idea was this anyway?”I asked myself nervously. Though,I sat in the cool water moving up and down in my bright orange life jacket, a wave of fear still washed over me. There were just too many instructions for me to remember.
My little sister Jane cheered as she jumped up and down next to Mum. Jane had learnt to waterski at a very young age. But I always liked underwater sports such as diving. Moving on top of the water was going to be very different for me. But if I mastered this, we would have another activity that the whole family could enjoy together.
“Deep breath!” I reminded myself. Dad speeded up the boat and the boat rushed forward and gave a strong pull. I pushed up on my legs as hard as I could and shouted out. I was in fact standing on my skis, moving across the water, but not for long.
I fell forward and landed face down in the water. Thank goodness, my skis came off, and my life jacket kept me safe on the surface of the lake. “I almost felt like I was flying with wings. I don't believe it!” I thought, turning over to my back with a big smile.
“Let's do it again.” I called to Dad as he circled the boat around to pick me up.
The second time, the boat speeded up again. Suddenly, I was flying. The world turned to be silent, broken only by Jane's shouts from the boat, “Wow! Mike, you did it!”
8. Why did Mike ask“Whose bright idea was this anyway?” in Paragraph 2?

B. Because the idea of waterskiing was really great.

A. To overcome his fear of water. B. To enter a waterski competition.
C. To follow his sister Jane's example. D. To enjoy a family activity together.
10. What are the keys to Mike's success in learning waterskiing?
① Jane's cheers ②Mom's encouragement ③Dad's advice ④Mike's effort
A. ①②③ B. ①②④ C. ②③④ D. ①③④

When I was at your age, my mom always said, “I just want you to be happy.” She didn't care what I became, as long as I stayed happy. But what is happiness? Is it a finishing line, or a road that never ends?
Is happiness on social media (社交媒体)? It seems like that way. People post perfect pictures of their best times online. Apps like Weibo and Xiaohongshu make us think we could be prettier, healthier, richer and happier. However, studies show using these apps a lot can make people feel down. One USstudy found that people who spend over two hours a day on social media are much easier to feel lonely and upset.
What if we' re the ones posting? When we share a happy moment, we must feel happy, right? Yes,but I' ve learned about the“hedonic treadmill.” That is to say when good things happen, we get happy and excited. But after a while, we feel the same as before. Happiness doesn't last long. As one happy moment goes away, we need to search for new ones. But social media makes this harder than before.
Luckily, there's still hope for us to find lasting happiness. This happens when we allow ourselves to experience true feelings like anger, fear and sadness. When we are honest about our experiences, we can build more meaningful connections with others. And that can bring us more happiness than any number of“likes”(点赞) on a mobile screen!
March 20th is World Happiness Day. Let it remind us that happiness isn't about running after a picture-perfect life. Trying to be happy all the time is impossible. So pay attention to your own journey, and accept all the feelings you' ll have along the way.
12. According to the passage, what may happen if a person often uses social media for half a day?
A. He may have a lot of friends. B. He may feel lonely and upset.
C. He may let other people down. D. He may get more happiness.
13. Which picture can explain the“hedonic treadmill” in Paragraph 3?
14. What does the underlined word“this” refer to in Paragraph 3?
A. Searching for new happiness.
B. Sharing a special moment.
C. Posting pictures of the best times.
D. Spending time on the Internet
15. What does the writer advise us to do with bad feelings?
A. Turn a blind eye to them.
B. Stay away from them quickly.
C. Post them on social media.
D. Learn to accept them bravely.
