教学过程 Teaching Procedures
1. Lead-in (3 minutes):
Review the volunteer work discussed in the previous class.
2. Pre-reading(10 minutes):
Lead-in: Show some pictures of family members doing different chores. Ask students: “What are they doing? Do you often do chores at home? Who usually asks you to do chores?”Encourage students to share their experiences.
3. While-reading(15 minutes):
Activity 3a
Let students look at the questions in 3a. Explain the task. Then play the recording for the first time. Students listen and circle the correct answers. Play the recording again to check the answers.
Activity 3b
Play the recording again. This time, students listen carefully and fill in the blanks in 3b. After that, check the answers together.
Analyze the conversation
Go through the conversation in 3a-3b. Explain new words like “hate”, “while” and how to make requests and refusals politely. For example, “Could you please...?” for requests and “Sorry, I can't. I have to...” for refusals.
4. Post-reading (10 minutes):
Pair work
Students work in pairs. One student makes a request about a chore, and the other refuses and gives a reason. Then they change roles. Encourage them to use the target language they just learned. For example:
A: Could you please take out the rubbish?
B: Sorry, I can't. I have to do my homework.
Group discussion
Divide students into groups of four. They discuss the following question: “What should we do when our parents ask us to do chores?” Each group chooses a representative to share their ideas with the class.
5. Summary (2 minutes):
Summarize the key vocabulary, expressions and sentence patterns about making requests and refusals. Ask students to repeat.
作业设计 Homework Design

2. Listen to the conversation in 3a-3b again and imitate the pronunciation and intonation.

Teaching Reflection and Evaluation
Teaching Reflection:
Consider if the pre-listening activities effectively arouse students' interest, if the while-listening tasks are clear and whether students can achieve the learning goals. Think about if the post-listening activities promote students' speaking practice.
Teaching Evaluation
Evaluate students' performance in class through their participation in pair work and group discussion, the accuracy of using target language when speaking, and their ability to complete listening tasks. Check students' homework to further assess their understanding of the knowledge.
