The Spring Festival Gala is the most popular TV show during the Chinese New Year. Every year, it presents a variety of wonderful performances. This year, a dance program named “Joy on the Branches” became a real highlight.
As the curtain lifted slowly, the audience was 1 by the magnificent stage scene.
It was as if they had been transported into a magnificent ancient Chinese painting. Right in the middle of the stage stood a/an 2 prop (支柱)—a gigantic pine branch that was 9.5 meters long and 4.5 meters high. It was 3 to be the largest prop ever used in the history of the Spring Festival Gala. The details of the pine branch were so vivid that it looked as if it had just been picked from a forest.
The dancers then made their graceful entrance. They were all dressed in costumes that 4 traditional Chinese colors, like flower blue, indigo, and moon white. Their movements were extremely 5 , flowing smoothly like a gentle stream. They didn’t rely on difficult vertical (垂直的) or deep movements. Instead, they mainly glided horizontally across the stage, using their delicate (精美的) body language to 6 the lovable expressions and lively postures of magpies (喜鹊). It seemed that they were like 7 birds jumping joyfully on the branches.
This program was actually inspired by a famous ancient Chinese painting. The creative team aimed to 8 the charm of classical art with people through modern dance. To achieve this, they combined hanging curtains, projections, and floor screens to 9 a wonderful visual effect, cleverly using the lines between two-dimensional (二维 的 ) and three-dimensional spaces. It gave the audience the feeling that the magpies 10 live in the painting, making the whole performance filled with artistic conception.

(2025·广东深圳·模拟预测)Heavy traffic has long been a global headache. The idea of flying cars has fascinated people for years and is now moving closer to reality.
Several companies around the world are actively developing flying cars. For example, the Dutch company PAL-V has created the “Liberty” flying car. It features a unique design, mixing the functions of a car and a gyrocopter (旋翼机). In road-driving mode, it can reach a top speed of 160 km/h and has a range (范围) of 1315 km on a full tank of fuel. When it transforms into flight mode, the top speed is 180 km/h with a range of about 500 km. Transitioning between the two modes takes only 10 minutes.
Another notable example is the Terrafugia Transition from the United States. This two-seater vehicle can take off and land at airports and also drive on normal roads. It can travel at speeds up to 115 mph in the air and drive at highway speeds on the ground. What’s more, it can fold up to fit into a standard-sized garage.
Flying cars offer numerous advantages. Firstly, they can significantly reduce traffic congestion on the ground, as they can bypass crowded roads by taking to the skies. Secondly, they can enable faster long-distance travel. For instance, instead of being stuck in traffic for hours during a long-distance journey, people could reach their destinations (目的地) much quicker by flying.
However, there are also challenges. The cost of flying cars is currently very high. The “Pioneer Edition” of the PAL-V flying car is priced at nearly $600.000, putting it out of reach for most consumers. Additionally, strict regulations (管理) need to be developed for their use in the airspace. There are concerns about air traffic control, ensuring safe distances between flying cars, and dealing with potential emergencies (潜在的突发事件) in the air.
1.What is one advantage of the PAL-V “Liberty” flying car?
A.It can fly at a speed of over 200km/h in flight mode.
B.It has a longer range in flight mode than in road-driving mode.
C.It can switch between road-driving and flight modes in a short time.

(2025·广东深圳·模拟预测)There are many ways to help improve your health like eating healthy food, taking exercise and getting medical help. But the easiest and cheapest way to improve your health is just to sleep eight hours or more every night. The general sleeping rule is that the younger you are, the longer sleep you need.
According to the World Health Organization over half the people in the world may be sleep-deprived. Having less sleep not only makes people feel tired but also causes accidents. In the United States alone, sleepy drivers cause at least 100,000 traffic accidents a year. Also sleep problems can cause medical problems such as high blood pressure (血压).
Why are so many people sleep-deprived? Part of the reasons may be cultural. In the American culture, people put a higher value on work than on sleep. You can sometimes hear some people say proudly that they don’t have much time to sleep, they only sleep four or five hours a night. It seems that the less you sleep, the more work you’ ll do.
How do we teach these people to learn the value of sleep? Perhaps they may listen to the advice of Dr. James Maas, an expert in sleep. He says, “Sleep is like a credit (信用卡) card. When you sleep less, you are only borrowing time. You always have to pay it back. The more hours you don’t sleep, the more hours you should sleep to“pay back” the hours on your ‘sleep credit card.’”
For those who value work more than sleep, they should listen to what a famous person once said. “Don’t think you will be doing less work because you sleep during the night. That is a foolish idea which is held by people who have no imagination. You will be able to do more.”

As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes more common in everyday life, it’s also being used more in creative areas. From Feb 20 to March 5, Christie’s, a well-known auction house (拍卖行), held its first-ever sale of AI-generated artworks.
These artworks were created using machine learning. During the auction, an artist even used AI to create a live painting. According to the auction house’s description, the event aimed to explore how humans and AI work together in art. However, the move angered many artists, with an online petition (请愿书) calling for the auction’s cancellation getting more than 6,400 signatures (签名), reported NBC News. They argued that AI models used copyrighted art without permission and called it “stealing human creativity”.
People question what counts as a real “work of art” and what defines creativity. Marcus du Sautoy, author of The Creativity Code: Art and Innovation in the Age of AI, suggests that the machine learning processes used to train AI may themselves be a form of creativity. “Code (代码) connected to data ... is able to learn and evolve,” Du Sautoy told the BBC. “This means that there is a chance for the code to produce something that deserves to be called the creativity of the code.”
While others disagree, saying artists still control the process by adjusting data and guiding the AI. Throughout the process, AI functioned more as a partner.
Do you think AI art marks the end of creativity or the beginning of a new movement?
1.What’s the purpose (目的) of Christie’s AI art auction?
A.To prove AI can take part in artistic creation.
B.To find out how human artists work with AI.

2.Why were many artists against the auction?
A.They felt AI artworks fail to show human emotions.
B.They believed AI wasn’t permitted to use copyrighted art.
C.They thought the auction gave up traditional art forms.
D.They argued that AI artworks shouldn’t be sold at high prices.
3.What does the underlined word “evolve” mean in paragraph 3?
A.Disappear. B.Destroy. C.Direct. D.Develop.
4.What can we infer about artists who use AI?
A.They only need to type simple code.
B.They believe AI is completely independent.
C.They refuse to work with technology.
D.They control data and guide AI to create art.
5.What does the passage mainly discuss?
A.Will human artists be jobless? B.Should AI artworks be sold?

(2025·广东深圳·模拟预测)Imagine trying to run through a field, but there are a lot of things in your way.You have to slow down to get through. But if the field is cleared, you could run as fast as you want.
This is how electricity goes through a superconductor (超导体). While in normal conductors, the electrons (电子) may come across many other particles (粒子), they have a clear path in a superconductor. This means the electricity can travel with no resistance (电阻) in a superconductor and wastes no energy.
Recently, scientists said they had created a superconductor that can work at room temperature. If proven true, it could become one of the “greatest scientific achievements of the 21st century”, wrote Physics magazine.
The first superconductor was discovered in 1911 by Dutch scientist Heike Onnes. He found that mercury(汞) cooled to - 269° C would lose all resistance to electricity.Since then, scientists have been trying to use superconductors in different areas.
One coolest use is in the maglev (磁悬浮的) trains. The magnetic fields and superconductor interact (相互作用), creating a force that pushes the magnet up.
But currently, the superconductor only works when the temperature is very low. It means the price is high and it cannot be widely used. The new study, done by scientists from the University of Rochester, US, created the superconductor with hydrogen (氢), nitrogen (氮) and lutetium (鲁) at 21℃. It still required a pressure of about 10,000 times that of Earth’s atmosphere . But that’s far lower than the pressure typically required for superconductors.
If this new material can be used in the city grid (电网), “a lot of energy can be saved,” said Luo Huiqian at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The maglev trains would become faster, reaching 800 to 1000 kilometers per hour. The material could also lead to faster computers, and thus development in AI and other areas that need fast computing.
1.What is a superconductor?
A.It is the wire we use to transmit electricity.
B.It allows electricity to flow with no resistance.
C.It is a conductor with high resistance to electricity.
D.It is a device used to cool mercury to - 269℃.
2.Why is it difficult to widely use superconductors currently?
A.Because they can release high air pressure.
B.Because they only work at the temperature of 21℃.
C.Because they can produce lots of heat.
D.Because they work only in low temperatures.
3.Compared to the current superconductor, the new one in the study ________.
a. can work at a higher temperature b. costs less to produce
c. requires much lower air pressure d. needs fewer materials to produce
A.bc B.ac C.ab D.bd
4.If the room-temperature superconductor comes true, ________.
A.we won’t lack electricity anymore
B.technologies in many areas can be improved
C.the maglev trains will move without resistance
D.the transmission of electricity can be momentary
5.What’s the structure of the passage?
A.B.C. D.

The world itself is becoming much smaller by using modern traffic and modern communication means. Life today is much easier than it was hundreds of years ago, but it has brought new problems. 1 To pollute means to make things dirty. Pollution comes in many ways. We see it, smell it, drink it and even hear it.
Man has been polluting the earth. 2 Many years ago, the problem was not so serious because there were not so many people. When the land was used up or the river was dirty in one place, man moved to another place. But this is no longer true.
Man is now slowly polluting the whole world.
Air pollution is still the most serious. It’s bad for all living things in the world, but it is not the only one kind of pollution. 3 Noise pollution makes us angry more easily.
4 They stop people from burning coal in houses and factories in the city, and from putting dirty smoke into the air. Pollution by sulfur dioxide (SO₂) is now the most dangerous kind of air pollution, and it is caused by heavy traffic. We are sure that if there are fewer people driving, there will be less air pollution.
The earth is our home. We must take care of it. 5 And we must pay attention to the rise in pollution at the same time.
A.The more people have, the greater the pollution becomes.
B.That means keeping the land, water and air clean.
C.The pollution of the earth grows as fast as the world pollution does.
D.One of the biggest problems is pollution.
E.Water pollution kills our fish and pollutes our drinking water.

1 In Russia, the population is going down by about 100 people EVERY HOUR! Russia’s population could fall by ONE THIRD by the year 2050! And in Poland (波兰) the population is also going down because people are leaving to work in other countries.
2 All over Europe, people, especially educated women, have a different attitude (态度) to children from their parents. “I have one child and she is enough for me,” said Galina Tereschkova, a doctor from Moscow. “My husband and I both work full-time. We can’t imagine having more than one child.” 3 “I don’t want to have any children until I have worked for at least 10 years,” said 19-year-old student Hana Markova from Prague. Her opinion is typical of 18—24-year-old women everywhere in Europe.
In Poland, the population is going down for a different reason. A lot of people, usually aged between 20 and 30, are leaving the country to work abroad. Poland joined the European Union in 2005 and since then more than half a million people have moved to Britain, Germany, Spain and Italy. Even so, 4
Many governments are now encouraging people to have larger families. In France, women now receive nearly $1000 a month for a year if they have a third child. 5
A.the population of those four countries and many other countries in West Europe is also going down.
B.Austrian women receive $700 a month for three years when they have their first child.

三、阅读理解
A
(2025·广东深圳·模拟预测)Heavy traffic has long been a global headache.
D.It is the cheapest flying car on the market.
2.What may the underlined word “Transitioning” mean in paragraph 2?
A.Changing. B.Staying. C.Walking. D.Flying.
3.What do we know about the Terrafugia Transition?
A.It can only land at special airports designed for flying cars.
B.It can’t be parked in a normal garage due to its large size.
C.It travels faster on the ground than in the air.
D.It is a two-seater vehicle that can both drive and fly.
4.Why are flying cars not yet widely used?
A.People are not interested in them.
B.They are too expensive and lack proper regulations.
C.They are not as fast as expected.
D.They are not environmentally friendly.
5.What can be inferred from the passage?
A.Flying cars will completely replace traditional cars in the near future.
B.The development of flying cars will not face any more difficulties.
C.With further development and regulation, flying cars may become a common way of transportation.
D.Only a few wealthy people can afford flying cars even in the future.

A.B.C. D.
【答案】1.B 2.D 3.B 4.B 5.C

3.细节理解题。根据“The new study, done by scientists from the University of Rochester, US, created the superconductor with hydrogen (氢), nitrogen (氮) and lutetium (鲁) at 21℃. It still required a pressure of about 10,000 times that of Earth’s atmosphere. But that’s far lower than the pressure typically required for superconductors.”可知,目前的超导体在非常低的温度工作,新的超导体能在 21℃工作,所以能在更高温度下工作,而且新超导体所需气压远低于通常超导体所需气压。故选B。
4.推理判断题。据最后一段“If this new material can be used in the city grid (电网), ‘a lot of energy can be saved,’ said Luo Huiqian at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. 【答案】例文
Dear Mr. Green,
Hello! I’m Li Hua from Class 1, Grade 9. I’m writing to recommend an activity for the Chinese Culture Festival next month.
It is called Dumpling-Making Contest. First, teams of five students will learn to make dumplings from a volunteer. Then, they need to create as many well-shaped dumplings as possible in thirty minutes. The winner will win a set of traditional Chinese tea cups. The materials needed are bowls, spoons, chopsticks, fillings, and wrappers.
The purpose of the activity is to make cultural learning fun and memorable. At the same time, it helps students develop team spirit as well.
I would like to organize the contest, because I am crazy about traditional Chinese food, especially dumplings. Besides, I am good at English and I used to be a host. Could you please consider my idea?
Looking forward to your reply!
Yours
Li Hua
