Grammar 让步状语从句 (1) although和though 1) 虽然……，（但是）…… 2) 尽管……，（但是）…… ▲ although, though意义相同，用哪个无所谓，不过though多用于非正式场合 e.g. 1　 Although he studied hard, he failed in the exam. 让步状语从句 主句 2　 Angela seemed relaxed and did really well, though she was not prepared. 主句 让步状语从句，前后无所谓 ▲ though引导的让步状语从句放句首时，常用倒装结构，并且可以用as代替though e.g. 1　 Rich though he is, he is not happy at all. 2　 Angry as he was, he couldn’t help smiling. (2) even if和even though 1) 即使…… 2) 即便…… 3) 虽然…… 4) 就算…… ▲ even if用于假设；even though用来表示事实 e.g. 1　 Even if you take a taxi, you’ll still miss the train. 2　 He’s still like a little child, even though he’s 24 now. (3) 主句不能用but，但是可以用still, yet或是nevertheless e.g. 1　 Although the questions were getting more and more difficult, but Angela kept getting them right.
