As space science develops, man has learned more and more about space. Space is not only amazing but also dangerous. While working in space, spacemen are facing danger as well as success.
Scientists have found out that the radiation (辐射) is the greatest danger to spacemen in space. When spacemen are working in space, they are in danger of the radiation-from the sun and other stars, which is bad for their health. The harm of the radiation won’t be found until their children even grandchildren are born. Some special medicine may work a little, but no really useful medicine has been found so far.
Space rubbish is also thought to be a great danger to spacemen. It’s reported that there were 9,000 man-made things flying in space. About 30% of these are satellites (卫星), 10% are spaceships, and the rest are space rubbish. An explosion (爆炸) in space in 1999 made a cloud of 300, 000 space junk pieces, each at least 4mm in size. A small piece of these even knocked a spaceship window and caused some problems.
Scientists are watching and reporting any possible danger all the time. They are working to deal with space rubbish. Although space is really dangerous, it interests many people on the earth. We may even choose to leave the earth and live in space in a few years. However, to make this possible, we must take steps to improve the space environment and make sure it is safe for people to research and live in.

Are vegetables growing in balconies (阳台), rooftops (屋顶) and window boxes around your neighborhood? China’s natural environment is good for vegetables’ growth. It has more than 160kinds of vegetables, the most in the world. It seems that Chinese people love to plant vegetables in small spaces. Whenever they get a chance, they will grow vegetables.
Also, Chinese scientists have built vegetable greenhouses in Antarctic (南极洲) research stations, such as the Kunlun Station. They use the greenhouses to grow cucumbers (黄瓜) and lettuce.
In 2016, Chinese astronauts successfully planted lettuce on the Shenzhou XI spacecraft. Lettuce there grows upward, just like it does on the earth. But this lettuce grew taller and greener, according to Jing Haipeng, the astronaut who planted it.
China has a long history of planting vegetables. The Book of Songs (《诗经》) mentions many kinds of vegetables. The poem Cooing and Wooing (《关雎》) mentions xingcai.
China was also open to foreign vegetables. For example, during the Western Han Dynasty, Zhang Qian, who went to the Western Regions, brought back carrots, garlic and other vegetables. During the Ming Dynasty, potatoes, peppers (辣椒), tomatoes and more vegetables were brought into China.
Chinese people are good at turning vegetables into delicious dishes. Take eggplants (茄子) for example. In the West, people often grill them, which means cooking them over a fire without a pot (锅). But Chinese people might stir-fry (炒) or steam them.
Planting vegetables brings more than just food. It also brings joy and peace. Poets like Tao Yuanming lived in the countryside and did farm work like planting vegetables. Perhaps, some Chinese people still hope to live a simple life in the country.
37.According to Paragraph 1, what is good for growing vegetables in China?
A.Natural environment. B.Large neighborhood.

D.The lettuce on the spacecraft tastes better than the one on the earth.
39.According to the text, which of the following is NOT true?
A.China has the most kinds of vegetables in the world.
B.Maybe some Chinese people look forward to a simple lifestyle.
C.Planting vegetables brings Chinese people food and happiness.
D.We can’t find foreign vegetables during the Ming Dynasty.
40.In which part of a magazine can you read the text?

Have you ever thought about how astronauts wash their clothes without gravity (重力)? It’s not easy. Here, I’d like to tell you the reasons why it is hard to wash clothes in space.
We know normal washing machines need gravity to work, but there is no gravity in space. Besides, washing machines usually need a lot of water. 41 So astronauts living aboard the International Space Station (ISS) need to take many clothes.
According to Newsweek, three astronauts living on the ISS for a year need 657.7 kg of clothing. 42 That’s as heavy as two cars! So, washing these heavy clothes in space is too hard and there’s no washing machine on the ISS now. 43 Russian scientists are making a special washing machine for astronauts to use in space. If scientists make this washing machine, it will make astronauts’ lives much easier. 44 It doesn’t need water. Instead (相反), it collects carbon dioxide (二氧化碳) from the air that the astronauts breathe out. 45 At last, the liquid can help clean clothes.

33.What can you infer (推测) from Paragraph 2?
A.The radiation is dangerous to spaceships. B.The radiation are mostly from space rubbish.
C.The danger of the radiation may last for years. D.The medicine for radiation will appear soon.
34.What cause the danger to spacemen?
①radiation ②space rubbish ③satellites ④explosion
A.①② B.①③ C.②④ D.③④
35.According to the report, how many man-made things are space rubbish?
A.900. B.2700. C.5400. D.9000.
36.Why does the writer write this passage?
A.To show the scientists’ work on cleaning the space. B.To share the information of the danger in space.
C.To introduce the reports from spacemen. D.To describe people’s interest in space.
D
C.The big window box. D.The high rooftop.
38.What does the writer want to tell us in Paragraphs 2 and 3?
A.Chinese scientists grow lettuce outside of the Kunlun Station.
B.Chinese people plant vegetables on both the earth and spacecraft.
C.Chinese astronauts built greenhouses on the spacecraft.
D.The lettuce on the spacecraft tastes better than the one on the earth.
39.According to the text, which of the following is NOT true?
A.China has the most kinds of vegetables in the world.
B.Maybe some Chinese people look forward to a simple lifestyle.

In the future, there’s no need for astronauts to take so many clothes with them to the space station.
A.However, this may not be a problem in the future.
B.Because this washing machine is different from the one we use.
C.This amount of water is so heavy that the spaceship can’t carry.
D.Then, it uses high pressure (压) to turn carbon dioxide into a liquid (液体).
E.Six people taking a two-year trip to Mars would need 2, 722 kg of clothes.
