This idea could soon come true. The Maldives is building the world’s first floating (漂浮的) city and plans to complete it in 2027. The city is like a man-made island. People will live on floating platforms (平台). These platforms are connected and placed along a hexagonal grid Natural coral reefs (珊瑚礁) will be grown around the city to keep the floating city stable (稳定的), so people who live here won’t feel seasick. People will live a self-sufficient (自给自足的) life in the floating city. Electricity will be powered by solar energy (太阳能). Sewage (污水) will be treated there. More importantly, the island is not far away from land. It takes only 10 minutes to travel by boat between there and the capital of the Maldives. Cool as it seems, the city is designed to solve real problems. The Maldives is one of the world’s lowest-lying countries. Most of its islands—including the capital—stand about 1 meter above sea level. And now climate change has brought a big problem—the rising sea level. According to CNN, 80 percent of the country’s land area will be under the sea by the end of the century. “In the Maldives, we cannot stop the waves, but we can rise with them,” Mohamed Nasheed, former president (前总统) of the country, told Newsweek magazine. Choose the answer: 1.What do we know about the floating city in the Maldives? A.It creates land on the ocean. B.It is far away from land. C.It is a wide and whole platform. D.It will be finished in three years. 2.Which of the following reflects that the floating city is self-sufficient? A.It won’t cause ocean pollution. B.It is powered by solar energy. C.It is connected to land. D.It can deal with sewage from the Maldives. 3.The floating city is designed to _____. A.slow down the speed of climate change B.protect the country from the rising sea level C.take the place of the capital of the Maldives D.introduce a new way of living in the sea Bad films keep coming Sony continues their Spider-Man cinematic universe with poor results 《蜘蛛夫人》遭遇差评,超级英雄烂片为何层出不穷? Madam Web (《蜘蛛夫人:超感觉醒》) was released on the Chinese mainland on March 1. It’s yet another badly reviewed superhero movie from Sony Pictures. As of March 4, it’s rated (评分) 5.2 out of 10 on the movie reviewing site Douban. Also, it has only a 13 percent “fresh” rating on the Western review site Rotten Tomatoes. In the movie, a paramedic (护工) can see things others can’t. She has to protect three women being chased by a Spider-Man-like bad guy. While some think it’s an okay superhero story, many have found that “its poor storytelling makes for a forgettable superhero adventure (冒险)”, as Rotten Tomatoes said. So, why does Sony keep making these bad movies? The short answer is money, and the longer answer could be desperation (绝望). Back in 1999, Sony bought the movie rights (版权) to the Marvel superhero, Spider-Man, and they’ve made a lot of money from it. They don’t want to lose him to Disney, who have the rights to nearly every other Marvel character. But to hold onto Spidey, Sony needs to produce a new “Spider-Man” movie every few years, reported NPR. Now, Sony has started to get more creative with their property (资产). That’s by releasing Spider-Man movies that don’t even have the character in them. So, we have movies about Spider-Man bad guys and heroes from his comics, like Venom, Morbius, Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter. Yet, some people enjoy these bad movies. Venom (《毒液:致命守护者》) has fans who like it for being not so great. And the silliness of Morbius (《暗夜博士:莫比亚斯》) and Madame Web has led to people making many memes (表情包). But a cinematic universe cannot survive on memes alone. With fewer people watching superhero movies, one must wonder just how much longer these films can keep going. By David House, 21st Century Teens Choose the answer: 1.The reviews of Madam Web on Rotten Tomatoes are ________. A.unclear B.pretty bad C.good D.unforgettable 2.Many people dislike the new movie mainly because of its ________. A.poor story B.leading actress C.superhero story D.bad character 3.Why does Sony keep making Spider-Man-themed movies, according to NPR? A.To get more movie rights from Marvel. B.To hold onto the character rights. C.To compete with Disney. D.To attract new fans. 4.What might be the author’s opinion? A.People are not tired of superheroes but bad films. B.Sony and Disney should produce films together. C.Superhero movies are facing big challenges. D.The failure of the film is due to the poor economy. Fabrice Mba is a 46-year-old Kungfu master. He teaches Kungfu and traditional Chinese medicine in several schools in Cameroon, a country in Africa. As a child, he grew up with his brother, who worked at the cinema then. He helped him sweep the cinema. He recalled (回忆) when he saw Shaolin Kungfu movies for the first time, “I discovered Kungfu and Chinese culture. They are fascinating to me.” He and his friends always followed the moves in the movies, but there was no Kungfu club to train them. After three years of study, he went back to his hometown to teach others. Mba said, “I love Chinese culture, and I want more people to learn it, because it teaches people to be good.” Mba also helps young people who live a poor life. He started a program to give free job training lessons, such as Chinese medicine and other subjects. He wants young people to be useful to the country and avoid the problems he himself has faced before. “Spreading Chinese culture in Cameroon doesn’t mean turning Cameroonians into Chinese. Instead, it’s like showing them a mirror, helping them realize that with hard work, they can live a better life, just like Chinese.” Mba said. 1.When did Mba first get interested in Chinese culture? A.When he was a child. B.Before he went back home. C.Until he learned Kungfu. D.After he studied in China. 2.Which is the correct order of the following events? ①He went to study in Shaolin Temple.        ②He followed the moves in the movie. ③He learnt Kungfu from an engineer.        ④He set up a free job training program. A.To show a better way of teaching local culture. B.To describe a free program of helping poor people. C.To introduce a foreigner who learns Chinese Culture. The drum-making skill was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2011. The elephant-foot drum dance is very popular among the Dai people. It can be danced by one or two people or a group of people. It is often performed during festivals. This form of dance was at first used to scare off evil (邪恶) and welcome the new year. Now it is a way for the Dai people to show their joy as well as their village culture. It also shows that the Dai people are kind, hospitable (热情好客的) and inclusive (包容的). A master’s story Xie Wenping, 32, used to follow his grandfather who made elephant-foot drums for a living to learn how to make a drum. “I was determined (下定决心的) to make more and better drums when I grew up,” Xie said. While elephant-foot drums carry great cultural importance, making an elephant-foot drum is no easy task. “Making an elephant-foot drum takes about 30 steps and one month,” Xie explained. After picking the wood, one needs to carve (雕刻) the wood into an elephant-leg-like shape and hollow out (挖空) the inside. The drum surface is made of cowhide (牛皮), which needs to go through several steps such as leather selection (皮料选择), cleaning, air drying and cutting. Then comes the painting, during which the drum is painted with patterns showing ethnic elements (元素) and coated with a protective topcoat (防护面漆). The finishing steps include tuning (调音), and polishing the fur. “A good elephant-foot drum should have a thick and loud sound when beaten,” Xie said. The repetition (重复) of the work might not be the most exciting, but whenever Xie sees his grandfather’s smile while making the drum, he feels encouraged again. “Over the years, the number of craftspeople (工匠) skilled in making elephant-foot drums has gone down,” Xie said. “I feel like it’s my responsibility to carry it on.” Xie has innovated (创新) the form of the drum. To make it easier for the elephant-foot drum to spread to places outside Yunnan, Xie came up with the idea of making a mini version (版本) of the drum and designed key chains shaped like the elephant-foot drum. By ZHANG DONGYUE, 21st Century Teens Choose the answer: 1.According to Xie, the process of making an elephant-foot drum is ________. A.easy B.challenging C.creative D.the most exciting 2.What is the current situation of the cultural heritage? A.Many young craftsmen learn the drum-making skills. D.Its place has been taken by modern drums. 3.Which can replace “came up with” in the  last paragraph? A.paid attention to B.listened to C.thought out D.gave up What happens when street dance meets Chinese martial arts (武术)? We recently found an impressive answer in two dancing boys. Earlier this month, Song Haoming, 10, and Fu Junxi, 14, made history at Juste Debout 2025 in Paris. Juste Debout is the world’s biggest street dance competition. In the finals, they danced Hip-Hop (嘻哈). They beat stronger adult dancers to enter the final four. Few had expected them to get this far. Song and Fu are very different. Pan Limin, the leader of CHUC’s youth street dance team, said the two boys were like fire and water. "Song is full of energy-always laughing and playful-just like fire," he said. "Fu is quiet, just like water.” In their dance, the pair wowed the audience with their cool Drunken Fist (醉拳) and Tai Chi moves. These martial arts elements (元素) added lots of energy to their performance. “The kids made up the moves themselves,” said Ms. Jia, Fu’s mother. “Their hard work paid off, and you could feel the excitement there.” Chinese elements have been used in street dance before. “Back in 2018, we used traditional culture in our dance called Yellow, River,” said Mr. Zhang, who works at CHUC. "We won the Lotus Award, China’s top dance prize." The use of Chinese elements allows for more possibilities to explore the art of street dance. Apart from Song and Fu, three other children took part in this year’s Juste Debout event. They also did well in their group, the Junior Dance Tour. "All five of our children made it to the final eight in their groups," said Pan. “But there are many more talented kids in our country. They just need a chance to show themselves.” 1.Why was it unexpected that they entered the final four? A.Because they were the youngest among all the dancers. B.Because they amazingly beat the older, more powerful dancers. C.Because they used some foreign dance styles. D.Because they didn’t take part in any international competitions before. 2.Which of the following might be the judges’ response (裁判的反应) to their show? A.They preferred modern street dance. I related to its characters who are themselves trapped. I am now planning to reread the kind of books that inspired me in my own writing. I won’t take a break altogether from reading the most recent releases (版本). I love the smell of new books fresh from the printers. 4 A.Catch-22 had me laughing. How long does it take you to get to school? For many students who study at Hong Kong schools but live in Shenzhen, their travel time is now less than one hour thanks to the building of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA, 大湾区). Zeng Mingyu is an 8-year-old student at SKH Wing Chun Primary School in Hong Kong. Every morning at 6:40, Zeng and his mother leave home and arrive at Liantang Port (莲塘口岸) in Shenzhen by 6:50 on their electric (电动的) bicycle. Using a special smaller counter (柜台) for kids, Zeng usually spends about 20 minutes walking through the port. The school bus picks up cross-boundary (跨境的) students at 7:20, usually getting them to school before 7:40. Thirteen-year-old student Mi Yu at Delia Memorial School (Hip Wo) has an even shorter boundary crossing time thanks to the E-Channel service on the Hong Kong side. Mi scans (扫) her non-permanent resident Hong Kong identity card (非永久居民香港身份证) at Luohu Port and the gate opens right after checking. This faster process allows her to pass through the port in just a few minutes during fast-moving situations. Liantang Port opens at 7:00 in the morning and Luohu Port opens at 6:30 for the public. But they both open a bit earlier for cross-boundary students to make sure they are the first to come in. They don’t have to get their backpacks checked either. As well as getting to school by walking through the boundary, a “one-hour living circle” in the GBA has now been realized. With the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the high-speed rail, people have enough time to do things in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao all on the same day. “Whether it’s the easy payment (支付) tools, transportation, or the helpful policies (政策) of both governments, we feel that living across boundaries is not difficult at all,” said Zeng’s mother. Hao Feifei contributed to the story. Answer the questions: 1.Which city does Zeng Mingyu live in? 2.How far is Liantang Port from Zeng Mingyu’s home? 3.What makes Mi Yu’s boundary crossing time shorter? 4.What are the benefits of the “one-hour living circle”? 5.What does Zeng’s mother think of living across boundaries nowadays? 2.why提问用Because+句子/To do句式回答。 3.Where 和When提问,回答时介词不能漏。 4. This idea could soon come true. The Maldives is building the world’s first floating (漂浮的) city and plans to complete it in 2027. The city is like a man-made island. People will live on floating platforms (平台). These platforms are connected and placed along a hexagonal grid (六角网格). Natural coral reefs (珊瑚礁) will be grown around the city to keep the floating city stable (稳定的), so people who live here won’t feel seasick. 【答案】1.B 2.A 3.B 4.C 【导语】本文讲述了索尼的《蜘蛛夫人》差评不断,为保蜘蛛侠版权持续推出相关烂片,超级英雄电影未来堪忧。 1.细节理解题。根据“Also, it has only a 13 percent ‘fresh’ rating on the Western review site Rotten Tomatoes.” 以及 “‘its poor storytelling makes for a forgettable superhero adventure’” 可知,《蜘蛛夫人》在烂番茄网站上的评分很低,评价很差,故选B。 2.细节理解题。根据“many have found that ‘its poor storytelling makes for a forgettable superhero adventure’”可知,很多人不喜欢这部新电影主要是因为它的故事讲述得不好,故选A。 3.细节理解题。根据“But to hold onto Spidey, Sony needs to produce a new ‘Spider-Man’ movie every few years, reported NPR.”可知,索尼持续制作蜘蛛侠主题电影是为了保留蜘蛛侠这个角色的版权,故选B。 4.推理判断题。根据“With fewer people watching superhero movies, one must wonder just how much longer these films can keep going.”可推知,作者认为超级英雄电影面临着巨大的挑战,因为观看这类电影的人越来越少了,故选C。 Fabrice Mba is a 46-year-old Kungfu master. B.The number of craftsmen is going down. C.It has been given new life thanks to Xie’s creative design. B.They were impressed by the cultural mix. C.They thought the boys were too young. D.They wanted more difficult moves. 3.Why does the author mention the Lotus Award? A.To explain how to win competitions. B.To list all dance awards in China. C.To show this was the first Chinese dance prize. D.To prove mixing Chinese culture has worked before. 4.What might help Song and Fu succeed according to the passage? A.Natural talent and good luck. B.Creativity and hard work. C.Bravery and cleverness. D.Excellent teacher and hard training. 根据“In the finals, they danced Hip-Hop. As Tesla continues to broaden its product offerings and push the limits of what’s possible in electric transportation and renewable energy, it remains a beacon of hope for a more sustainable future. With the world facing environmental challenges, Tesla’s task to move the world’s focus to sustainable energy is more important than ever. Baduanjin is one of the oldest health and fitness methods in China, first created over 800 years ago during the Song Dynasty. Its name is made up of two parts, namely “baduan” and “jin”. The first part refers to eight separate movements. 2 Compared to sports such as ball games or swimming, Baduanjin is slow and usually played with peaceful music, so it used to be considered as a sport for the elders. 3 It helps kill their neck and back pain after long working hours while not requiring much effort, time and space. For me, the pleasure of rereading is a newly discovered one. The source material, though, is of course not. I used to take the same approach (方法) to books as I did to travel; don’t go to the same place twice. Life is too short. 1 Then I realized that the fact that life is short might work the other way around, too: if you know you enjoy something, or somewhere, then why not return? Recently I reread Joseph Heller’s Catch-22. I was inspired (激励) to do so when reminded of how he’d reply when people rudely asked him why he’d never written anything as good: “Who has?” Catch-22 pretty much saved my life when I first read it. 2 I had dropped out of school twice, didn’t leave the house at all and didn’t have a life felt as though I hadn’t laughed in such a long time. 3 It managed to take me out of the dark world, and though its themes are, of course, serious, its cleverness cheered me greatly. I related to its characters who are themselves trapped. I am now planning to reread the kind of books that inspired me in my own writing. I won’t take a break altogether from reading the most recent releases (版本). I love the smell of new books fresh from the printers. 4 A.Catch-22 had me laughing. B.My favourite are secondhand editions. C.There is discomfort in reading recently-released books. D.At that time I was in an extremely bad mood at 17 years old. E.However, I have decided to dip more often into the old ones. 1.Shenzhen. 2.Ten minutes by electric bicycle. 3.The E-Channel service on the Hong Kong side. 4.People have enough time to do things in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao all on the same day. 5.It is not difficult at all. 1.根据“For many students who study at Hong Kong schools but live in Shenzhen,”可知,他居住在深圳。故填Shenzhen. 2.根据“Every morning at 6:40, Zeng and his mother leave home and arrive at Liantang Port (莲塘口岸) in Shenzhen by 6:50 on their electric (电动的) bicycle.” 故填Ten minutes by electric bicycle. 3.根据“Thirteen-year-old student Mi Yu at Delia Memorial School (Hip Wo) has an even shorter boundary crossing time thanks to the E-Channel service on the Hong Kong side.” The E-Channel service on the Hong Kong side. 4.根据“With the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the high-speed rail, people have enough time to do things in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao all on the same day.” People have enough time to do things in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao all on the same day. 5.根据“we feel that living across boundaries is not difficult at all,”可知,他的母亲认为跨境居住根本不难。故填It is not difficult at all. 2.why提问用Because+句子/To do句式回答。 4.
