For Yu, a 35-year-old train driver, the Spring Festival is a busy time for work. “Though I am not home, I feel a sense of achievement in 6 others to get home for their reunions,” Yu said.
Yu recalled the first time he spent the holiday away from his 7 in 2010. “It was late at night and we were 8 to be on call. On the Spring Festival Eve, we were in Wuhan. People were celebrating the holiday. But I just felt sad,” he said, “Now I am used to it, and it doesn’t influence 9 .”
Yu has seen the development of the nation’s high - speed railway network. Yu added, “I pay more attention during the travel rush 10 more services are planned, which means I have to take on more responsibilities.”
These drivers help to provide a key train system for millions of passengers, especially during the Chinese New Year travel rush.

Do you do team projects at school? I do a lot. I enjoy team projects because I like sharing ideas with other people. Of course, team activities aren’t always easy. You need to know how to work well together. Here are some suggestions to make team work easier.
Know the goals
Make sure everyone understands the goal of the project. If you’re doing a class project, you need to check the teacher’s instructions carefully and ask questions whenever something isn’t clear. There’s a popular saying: If you don’t know where you’re going, you probably won’t get there.
Assign (指派) roles
Everyone should have a role in the team. For example, there should be a leader who helps everyone make decisions. There might be a note-taker who writes down the team’s ideas during meetings, and a time-keeper to control the time. There might also be a fact-checker or a group speaker.
Divide the work
For large projects, the work can be divided into smaller tasks. Then you can choose tasks that you do well or enjoy. Of course, you shouldn’t always do the same task. It’s good to try new things, even if they’re difficult!
Make a plan
After you divide the work, write down a plan on paper. You can use a calendar to help you. List all the tasks and think about when each one must be finished. It’s important for everyone to follow the plan. And if you can’t finish your part on time, tell the others as soon as possible.
Try to be positive (积极的). Everything is easier when you’re enjoying yourself in the team.

Lena was a young dancer who loved performing on stage. But one day in 2019, she fell during a dance show and hurt her back very badly. Doctors told her she might never walk or dance again, Lena felt scared and sad. However, she remembered her little sister Mia, who always said,“You’re the best dancer in the world!” This gave Lena hope. “I’ll try again, for Mia,” she told herself.

In Hefei, the capital city of Anhui Province, a growing number of foreign students are falling in love with Chinese intangible cultural heritage Among nearly 3,000 international students here, over half of them choose to study different kinds of heritage courses provided by 14 local organizations.
Take Wallace for example. He is from Australia and studies traditional Chinese medicine at Anhui University of Chinese Medicine. Besides medicine, he is also crazy about martial arts (武术). He thinks learning from Chinese local coaches is very important to master martial arts which has a close connection with medicine in Chinese tradition.
Another student, Alina from Russia, studies at Anhui Agricultural University. She came to China to learn more about tea science, art and culture because she thought what she learned in Russia was insufficient.
In Hefei University of Technology, there are many traditional culture courses such as paper-cutting, calligraphy, martial arts and Chinese painting and so on. They are mainly offered for the students from 47 foreign countries.
“What I do is not about creating new knowledge, but about passing on knowledge and techniques,” said Zhong Yan, a teacher from Hefei University of Technology.
Xi Zhiyang, a teacher of Huizhou-style paper-cutting said, “Foreign students are very enthusiastic (热情的) learners. I am very satisfied with the works they create... This shows that traditional Chinese culture can be shared with the world. It doesn’t matter who we pass our cultural heritages on to, what matters is that it continues to be passed down. This is important,” he added.

In many people’s eyes, plants are quiet and inactive. They can’t talk. They can’t walk. And they can’t think like us.
Or can they? A new TV show, The Green Planet, gives us a new look at plants. Shown on Jan. 10th on Bilibili, it uncovers the wonderful way that plants behave.
Plants compete against each other to live. Each plant has its own ways of protecting itself. In the rainforests, different kinds of plants race for sunlight. The forest floor is described as a “war field” in the show as only two percent of the sunlight gets through it. Some plants spread their big leaves to reach light. But they are caught up in a vine (藤本植物) that tries to get a ride. Finally, they are both overtaken (超过) by a fast-growing tree. As the tree has smooth hairs on its leaves, the vine can’t get a hold. Similarly, some trees try to protect themselves in other ways.
Interestingly, plants also support one another in many ways. In deserts, the roots of Euphrates poplar (胡杨) are connected. If a tree finds water, it will share it with others through the roots. Studies also show that plants use fungus (真菌) as a way to talk to each other. It’s kind of like how Wi-Fi works. If a tomato plant gets a leaf disease, it can tell nearby plants about it. How amazing the plants are!
The TV show not only makes us amazed at the plant world but pushes us to understand that plants are important. “Plants are the needs of all life, including ourselves. We depend upon them for every mouth of food that we eat and every breath that we breathe.” said David Attenborough, host of the show. It’s time to look after wild plants just as carefully as our houseplants.
11.What is the purpose of The Green Planet?
A.To explain how plants talk. B.To show the wonders of plants.
C.To teach people to grow plants. D.To introduce the beautiful plants.
12.Why is the forest floor called a “war field”?
A.Plants grow very fast. B.Animals often fight there.
C.Plants compete strongly for sunlight. D.Animals do harm to plants’ living space.
13.What does Paragraph 4 mainly talk about?
A.Why plants get sick. B.How plants find water.
C.How plants help each other. D.Why plants talk to each other.

The world is full of screens. They are on TVs, computers and smartphones. Screens are at school, at home, and just about everywhere in between. The time people spend every day looking at screens is known as “screen time.” Most families have rules about how much time children can spend with screens. Why do they have rules? Are there good reasons to limit(限制) screen time?
In many ways, screens are helpful for communication and connecting with other people. Social media (社交媒体) and video calls allow people to be always in touch with one another. . By sharing and commenting on videos, photos, games or music, people can meet others who have similar interests.
Many kinds of screen time may be good for students. Students may use screen time to develop their skills in creating music or videos. They may even learn skills such as coding (编程) computer programs. When students use their screen time to do research online, they may meet people who are different from them or ideas they have never thought about before.
However, some researchers think that screens change how the brain processes information. Some have connected screen time with lower test scores or less attention time.
In the future, scientists will continue studying the effects of screen time. Parents will likely continue to make rules limiting screen time. Plenty of good things can come from all this screen time, but it’s a good idea for people to pay attention to how much time in a day they spend looking at a screen. They should know how screen time influences their health, relationships and learning.

B.People spend too much time sharing photos and videos.
C.Screen time can also help people build new relationships.

A.For adults, screen time should not be limited.
B.People should make good use of screen time.
C.Young people had better stop using screen time.
D.It’s better for students to use screen time at home.
17.What would be the best title for the passage?

Mung Bean Milk
As an important part of Beijing’s local culture, douzhi is believed to have been invented during the Song Dynasty (960-1279), but it was Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty who turned it into a royal (皇家的) snack. Also known as mung bean milk, douzhi is made from the fluid remnants (液体残留物) of mung bean noodles. It looks grayish-green, tastes mostly sour with a tinge of sweetness and has a special smell. A lot of people take up dancing as a hobby after school. In fact, dancing has been considered one of the best exercises to fight bad feelings in recent years.
Dancing including moving the body to different kinds of music, helps our bodies produce much endorphin (内啡肽), a chemical that makes us feel relaxed and happy.
While simply listening to music or doing sports can cheer us up, mixing them together gives better results. In a study, a group of German scientists tested some patients under three conditions: a group dancing with music, a group just listening to music, and a group riding bikes without music. The results showed that the first group were the least depressed.
Dancing can bring people together, too. Tango, Latin or other social dancing require us to move with others, which can improve our sense of social connection.
Dancing also helps people go out of bad feelings. Studies have found that depression (抑郁) often has to do with sadness about the past or worries about the future. However, dancing not only helps you pay attention to the present, but also free your mind and body for a while.
Lauren Helper, a social worker in Virginia, US, pointed out that if people enjoy music of any kind, dancing can be a helpful way to cut down stress. She also said that dancing can take any form, whether it’s moving around the house to a song or going out dancing with friends. “The important part of movement is that it is fun,” she told Psych Central.

A.Because it makes people remember the past better.
B.Because it helps the body produce endorphin.
C.Because it makes people worry more about the future.

In the age of GenAI (生成式人工智能), educators everywhere are entering a new world of teaching. It’s exciting that high technology is helping students learn in powerful ways. However, teachers also have worries, such as how to guide students in using GenAI tools like ChatGPT to learn more deeply instead of just using them to cheat.
Although their influence on education is still not sure, the use of AI in education is not new.
Machine learning, a part of AI, is very good at predicting what students are ready to learn next. For example, in an English class, it can help identify which vocabulary words students have mastered and which ones they have not. This helps students avoid spending too much time on what they already know well, which is a great way to make learning more personalized (个性化).
During the process, well-trained AI can notice students’ use of educational software (软件) and let educators know about students who may have difficulty in learning. If necessary, teachers can then take proper action.
GenAI will also open doors to intelligent tools. Take writing in English as an example. GenAI can understand students writing skill as soon as they finish their writing tasks, and provide personalized advice based on different learning styles. It also helps teachers better understand their students.
Although the future with AI is not yet clear, it’s important to focus on what matters most — GenAI is another tool to help students succeed.
11.How do teacher feel about GenAI?
A.Excited but tired. B.Sad and afraid.
C.Surprised and moved. D.Happy but worried.
12.Why does the author mention students’ learning English words?
A.To explain the importance of AI to students.
B.To introduce different kinds of AI tools.
C.To show AI’s role in personalized learning.
D.To point out some problems in AI.
13.Who is the passage mainly written for?
A.Language beginners. B.English educators.
C.AI developers. D.Technology companies.

Reading and writing Chinese characters is often considered the biggest challenge that language learners face. Indeed, the process which has shaped this character system (体系) is both difficult and long.
Maybe they feel unable to understand character systems at first. Actually, Chinese characters are made up of different parts. If you know the structure of Chinese characters, it will soon be easier for you to read and write. Read the following and continue along your journey to learn Chinese characters.
Unlike the English letters, Chinese characters are used to show meaning rather than sound. In fact, most characters were firstly used as visual descriptions of things like trees, houses or humans. Their earliest forms, known as character radicals (偏旁), are the basis for written Chinese. In addition to Chinese pinyin, radicals are important for anyone who wants to read or write well.
When two or more radicals are connected, they work together to create a single character. The radical on the left shows the character’s type or meaning, while the radical on the right might show its pronunciation. Most of the written Chinese language is made up of character compounds (复合词), in which several characters are connected to make one word.
An important rule is that characters are written according to a proper stroke order (笔画顺序), which typically moves from left to right, top to bottom and outside to inside.
Although Chinese characters may seem difficult at first, having a basic understanding of them may help a lot. So, review your radicals, know about the most widely used Chinese characters, and watch as your Chinese skills grow quickly!
14.Why are Chinese characters the biggest challenge for language learners?
A.Because China has a very long history.
B.Because people can’t speak Chinese fluently.
C.Because Chinese characters are in different shapes.
D.Because it’s hard to understand the character system.

A.Chinese characters. B.Language learners.

16.What can we learn from the passage?
A.Chinese characters often show sound instead of meaning.
B.Usually Chinese characters are written from inside to outside.
C.Knowing some basic rules of Chinese characters helps learners a lot.
D.Radicals play a more important role than Chinese pinyin in reading Chinese characters.
17.Which of the following shows the structure of the passage?(① = Paragraph 1...)
A. B. C. D.
My father woke me up early one summer morning when I was fourteen and announced, “Get up, you’re going with me to cut the grass in the garden.” From sunup to sundown, my father, my younger brother and I worked in the large garden. By the end of the day, I was too tired to say a word but I felt good. This was my first time to help my father in his business. I got 6 dollars for my work that day.
Another day, my father found some leaves I had missed and pulled me aside.” Take away these leaves !” he said, “and don’t make me have to tell you to do it again.” The message was clear. Today I still value the lesson— doing a job well the first time.
Two years later, my father told me and my brother that we were old enough to cut the grass by ourselves. Every Saturday, we set off early in the morning and wished to get some money from our father. Looking after the garden was neither exciting nor high paying, but that didn’t matter. It taught me that any job was a good job and that whatever I was paid was more than I had before.
A newspaper reporter once asked me how someone could possibly live with hard work and low pay. “If you’re only thinking about hard work and money, you probably don’t want to do any better than you are doing.” I answered. In every job, from cutting the grass to washing the dishes, I’ve learned much. If you work hard enough, you can learn from any job you do.
1.What did the writer’s father ask him to do in the garden?
2.Why was the writer told to clean the leaves again?
3.What does the writer want to remind us?

Nobody wants to lose, but we must accept that losing is a part of life. After all, we can’t win all the time. However, we can learn something valuable from every failure.
We must not be afraid of losing. When we lose, just take it with a smile and look on the bright side of it. Edison failed 10,000 times before he invented the light bulb (灯泡). When he was asked how he felt, he said that he hadn’t failed 10,000 times but had learned 10,000 things which didn’t work.
Losing is not very awful. Remember that it can be helpful. Take action to walk out of it. When we lose, think about what we did and how we can improve. If someone else can help, we’ll be lucky enough. This can save us a lot of time in learning how to avoid the same mistakes in the future.
We should face our failure when we lose. There is only one winner in every competition. Some win, while some lose. That is a usual way of life. If we offer the winners our congratulations (祝贺) and share their happiness, we won’t feel sorry for our failure.
In a word, being a good loser will help us to succeed in life. It might be painful at the beginning, but there are many advantages.
1.What can we learn from every failure according to the text?
2.In the writer’s eyes, why did Edison achieve success?
3.What does the writer advise the losers to do in a competition?
B(2025·内蒙古呼伦贝尔·一模改编)
A man sees a butterfly try to get out of its chrysalis (蛹). The man cuts the chrysalis and the butterfly comes out easily. But to his surprise, the butterfly is unable to fly. If the butterfly doesn’t struggle (挣扎) to get out of the chrysalis,it can’t fly. The struggle develops the energy in the butterfly. Similarly, the challenges of life bring out the best in young people and prepare the ability to“fly”.
When people are young, meeting and overcoming challenges will make them strong and ready to face life. For successful people, the more challenges they have had, the more successful they are. One famous man, who now owns many big factories, used to sell socks from door to door when he was young. Another successful man is Eric. He set up a college at the age of 30. His father died when he was only16. He worked hard in the day and studied hard at night. His father’s death forced him to grow up fast. He took up the challenges and overcame them. Today, not only he himself, but also his brothers and sisters are leading successful lives.
It is important that
1.What does the man do when he sees the butterfly try to get out of its chrysalis?(不超过5个词)
2.How did Eric's father’s death affect him ?(不超过10个词)
3.What would the writer write at the end of the text ?(不超过10个词)

A(2023·河北·中考真题改编)

A.Controlling the activity time. B.Writing down the team’s ideas.

During her time in the hospital, Lena met Carlos, a 15-year-old boy. Carlos had lost his leg in a car accident and felt angry at life. But when he saw Lena practicing small leg movements every day, even when it was painful, he started to feel hopeful.“If Lena can keep trying, maybe I can too,” Carlos said. With Lena’s encouragement, Carlos began using a special artificial (人造的) leg. A year later, he joined a basketball team for people with disabilities and even won a medal!
Lena worked hard too. After eight months, she surprised everyone by moving her toes. A few weeks later, she stood up with help. To celebrate her progress, she decided to do something big: she walked 10 kilometers using crutches (拐杖) in an charity event. It took her three hours, but she raised $30,000 to help others with back illness.
Two years after her accident, Lena did something even more amazing. She danced at a hospital event. Though her movements were slow, the audience (观众) cried loudly. One nurse said, “She’s teaching us all about courage.” Now, Lena runs a group called Wings. It helps people who face big challenges through art and sports. D(2025·福建泉州·一模改编)

B.People should make good use of screen time.
C.Young people had better stop using screen time.
D.It’s better for students to use screen time at home.

8.According to the passage, why does dancing help cut down depression?
A.Because it makes people remember the past better.
B.Because it helps the body produce endorphin.
C.Because it makes people worry more about the future.
D.Because it helps bring people together.
9.What can we learn according to Lauren Helper ?
A.Only formal dancing in dance halls is useful.
B.Any form of dancing that is fun can help reduce stress.
C.Dancing with friends is the best way to reduce stress.
D.Dancing helps us pay attention to the present.
10.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.To introduce different kinds of dances.
B.To encourage people to listen to music and dance.
C.To show that dancing is a great way to fight bad feelings.
D.To present the connection between dance and music.
根据第二段“Dancing, which involves moving the body to different kinds of music, helps our bodies produce much endorphin, a chemical that makes us feel relaxed and happy.”
根据最后一段“Lauren Helper...pointed out that if people enjoy music of any kind, dancing can be a helpful way to cut down stress. She also said that dancing can take any form...‘The important part of movement is that it is fun,’”可知,任何有趣的舞蹈形式都有助于减轻压力。故选B。
文章开篇指出“In fact, dancing has been considered one of the best exercises to fight bad feelings in recent years.”,接着从不同方面阐述跳舞对抗不良情绪的作用,所以文章的主旨是表明跳舞是对抗不良情绪的好方法。故选C。

根据“It’s exciting that high technology is helping students learn in powerful ways. However, teachers also have worries”可知教师对GenAI既感到兴奋又存在担忧,故选D。
根据“Machine learning…is very good at predicting what students are ready to learn next…which is a great way to make learning more personalized”可知作者提到英语词汇学习是为了展示AI在个性化学习中的作用,故选C。

15.What does the underlined word “they” in Paragraph 2 refer to?
A.Chinese characters. B.Language learners.
C.Character systems. D.Different parts.
A. B. C. D.
【答案】14.D 15.B 16.C 17.A

3.根据If you work hard enough, you can learn from any job you do可知,作者想提醒我们,努力工作可以从任何事情中学到东西。故选Hard work leads us to learn from anything./We should work hard.(此题为开放性试题,回答中提到work hard相关内容均可得分)
A(2025·江苏常州·模拟预测改编)
1.Something valuable.
2.He saw the bright side of losing./He was not afraid of losing./He learned from his failures.
3.Offer the winners their congratulations and share in their happiness.
1.根据第一段“However, we can learn something valuable from every failure (失败). This may help us succeed in the future.” Something valuable.
2.根据第二段“We must not be afraid of losing. When we lose, just take it with a smile and look on the bright side of it.”和“When he was asked how he felt, he said that he hadn’t failed 10,000 times but had learned 10,000 things which didn’t work.” He saw the bright side of losing./He was not afraid of losing./He learned from his failures.
3.根据第四段“If we offer the winners our congratulations (祝贺) and share in their happiness, we won’t feel sorry for our failure.” Offer the winners their congratulations and share in their happiness.

1.The man cuts the chrysalis .
2.It forced him to grow up fast ./He worked hard and studied hard.
3.we meet challenges to become better./challenges make us stronger in life./Facing challenges leads to growth.(言之有理即可)
1.根据文章“A man sees a butterfly try to get out of its chrysalis. The man cuts the chrysalis and the butterfly comes out easily. ”可知,当男人看到蝴蝶试图破茧而出时,他剪开了茧,让蝴蝶轻松地出来了。故填The man cuts the chrysalis so that the butterfly can come out easily.
2.根据文章“His father’s death forced him to grow up fast.He took up the challenges and overcame them. ”可知,埃里克父亲的去世迫使他快速成长并让他直面挑战并克服了它们。故填It forced him to grow up fast./ He took up the challenges and overcame them.
参考答案为we meet challenges to become better./challenges make us stronger in life./Facing challenges leads to growth.

Last week, our school carried out a survey about “how long do you sleep every day” among the students.
Last week, our school carried out a survey about “how long do you sleep every day” among the students. The results showed that among the students from Grade 9, one in ten sleep 5 hours a day, 60% sleep 6 hours a day, and one fifth sleep 6 hours. Only 10% of the students manage to sleep 8 hours.
There are two main reasons for this situation. First, there are too many after-school activities, which reduces students’ sleep time. Besides, some students use electronic products instead of going to bed early.
To improve the situation, I suggest that some students should cut out some of their activities. And parents should encourage their children to put away electronic devices before bedtime.
