(2025·江苏南通·二模)The Internet is a busy place, with billions of interactions, millions of content pieces, and large numbers of social media accounts and data about people. But in recent years, the so-called “dead Internet theory” has gained popularity. The theory suggests that most activity online is generated by bots (网上机器人) and AI agents, not by humans.
Thanks to generative AI, plenty of AI-generated models and influencers now often show up online. AI-generated content has changed the dynamics of the Internet, making it cheaper than ever to become a content creator. It makes sense, especially from a creator’s perspective. If you spend a few hours on a video for your social pages, you expect to get likes, follows, and subscriptions. However, if you can produce three videos within the same time with AI assistance, you’re increasing your chances of creating those things within the same period.
However, AI could lead to an Internet that feels dead due to a lack of obviously original content and articles that lack a human-touch — regardless of viewpoint, experience or humour. Fortunately, one glimmer of hope here is that some online giants have been taking action to reduce bot use, or so they say. Such measures are partly due to advertisers becoming more understanding regarding what makes up real human views versus bot-generated ones. So, no, the Internet is not dead. At least not yet.
Dead Internet theory may be hyperbole (夸张), but it raises two important points. First, the Internet is undoubtedly moving in this direction. Second, and more significantly, the theory causes a broader unease about the emotional and social dynamics online. Social media is now the primary news source for many users around the world. Therefore, there’s potential for AI agents to promote false information and interact with each other to boost engagement, which does leave room for concern.
So we do have to accept that humans share online spaces with bots and AI agents. As information spreads faster than ever across digital platforms, caution is advised: Never assume it’s actually a human you’re interacting with on the other side of your screen.
1.What can be learned about “dead Internet theory”?
A.AI agents and bots dominate online activities.
B.Content found online is frequently repeated.
C.Humans are losing interest in online interactions.
D.Social media collapse due to information overload.
2.Why do today’s creators turn to Al for content production?
A.To guarantee the originality of their content.
B.To make content creation completely effortless.
C.To enhance efficiency of achieving their goals.
D.To adapt to the changing dynamics of the Internet.
3.What does paragraph 4 mainly talk about?
A.The role of social media in news distribution.

(24-25高三上·江苏徐州·阶段练习)A team of AI researchers at Microsoft, working with colleagues from the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), has used AI to develop a battery that uses less lithium (锂).
Lithium-ion (锂离子) batteries have become the industry standard for electronic devices and electric vehicles and are expected to play a major role in the conversion to green power. But lithium is expensive, which has led multiple teams across the globe to look for alternatives. In this new effort, the research team looked for ways to reduce the amount of lithium used in batteries.
This would normally take a long time because of the detailed approach required. To reduce the workload and the time needed to process millions of alternatives, the researchers turned to AI. Noting that AI applications are good at using massive amounts of data to learn how to do things, the researchers designed one that could study millions of materials that might be added to a lithium battery to replace some amount of the lithium and test the results for factors such as stability and how a battery using a given material would behave.
Using this approach, the research team reduced the list of possible alternatives to just a few hundred possibilities. They then turned to materials scientists at PNNL for advice on how to reduce the possibilities even further. The scientists suggested adding more specific screening criteria and more elimination rounds. After adopting that advice, the team arrived at a promising alternative and an approach that involved replacing approximately half of the lithium atoms in a battery with sodium (钠) atoms.
After using the new approach to build a working battery, the researchers found it had lower conductivity than was needed — but they also believe that there is room for improvement. They plan to continue working on the approach and the process they used to find their solution, which they suggest could eventually solve other types of material processing problems.
1.Why did the research team want to develop a battery that uses less lithium?
A.To reduce carbon emissions. B.To meet the industry standard.
C.To decrease the cost of a battery. D.To generate electricity efficiently.
2.What do the underlined words “this approach” in paragraph 4 refer to?
A.Using AI to find possible materials. B.Adding other materials to a battery.
C.Developing an application to collect data. D.Replacing lithium in a battery with sodium.
3.How did the research team finally find a promising alternative?
A.By seeking funding from PNNL. B.By asking experts for advice.
C.By turning to Microsoft for help. D.By cooperating with other scientists.
4.What do the researchers think of the approach?
A.Effective and workable. B.Complex and impractical.
C.Challenging and demanding. D.Innovative and groundbreaking.

(24-25高三下·江苏·开学考试)The future of space food could be simple and strange. For decades, astronauts have relied mostly on prepackaged food or the occasional grown vegetables during their visits to outer space. With missions beyond Earth’s orbit in sight, a NAS Aled competition is hoping to change all that and start a new era of sustainable space food.
To solve the problem of feeding astronauts on long duration missions, the US space agency started the Deep Space Food Challenge in January 2022, asking companies to propose novel ways to develop sustainable foods for future missions. About 200 companies entered, which were narrowed down to 11 teams in January 2023 as part of phase 2. On November 19, NASA announced the teams that will progress into the final phase of the competition, with some winners to be announced in March. 2025.
All teams had to show systems that could operate for three years and feed a crew of four on a future space mission. The proposals did not need to supply a crew’s entire diet, but they did need to create a variety of nutritious foods to the astronauts.
One company took an incredibly unusual approach to the task. Air Company, base d in New York, designed a system that could use the carbon dioxide breathed out by astronauts in space to produce alcohol, which can then be fed to yeast (酵母) and produce “something that’s suitable for eating”. “It’s making food out of the air.” says Stafford Sheehan, cofound er and chief technology officer of Air Company, “It sounds like magic, but when you see it actually operating, it’s much more simple.”
Interstellar Lab in Florida had a different approach. Its system, called NUCLEUS, is a set of small capsules. Each is self-contained, with its own temperature, watering system. etc. That would allow different vegetables to be planted so that astronauts can easily grow their own food. in space.
While the winning ideas from the Deep Space Food Challenge won’t immediately be used by astronauts, they show what might be possible on future missions. “You’ve got to start years in advance to make weixinyy002544 sure you have the capability in place when you need it,” says Ralph Fritsche, senior project manager for space crop production at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
1.Why was the Deep Space Food Challenge launched?
A.To find tasty foods for astronauts. B.To found a space food supply center.
C.To develop a new source of space food. D.To attract astronauts to food exploration.
2.Which might be the requirement to become the winning company?
A.Future space missions lasting three years.
B.Entire diets for long-lasting space research.
C.Concrete proposals involving a crew of four.
D.Sustainable supply of nutritious space foods.
3.What do paragraphs 4 and 5 focus on?
A.Process of creating space foods. B.Unique systems of storing foods.
C.Examples of specific space foods. D.Prospects of these food companies.
4.What is the most suitable title for the text?
A.Astronauts produce more space food B.Space explorers face a lack of nutrition
C.Future space missions last even longer D.New types of space foods are on the way

(24-25高三下·江苏盐城·阶段练习)Vaccines (疫苗) may soon make their first film appearance. Led by expert Maria A Croyle, researchers have developed a thin sheet that preserves vaccines for long periods without refrigeration. This means the carefully cooled small bottles now used to ship vaccines could potentially be replaced by lightweight films that can be mailed in an envelope and stored on a shelf.
Inspired by amber’s ability to preserve the DNA of insects, Croyle’s laboratory set out to create their own version of the substance. The vaccine-containing film is administered by mouth-sweet news for many who dislike needles.
The film is tailored to suit each specific vaccine candidate and provide a protective coating. “We’ve learned over time that the key to really stabilizing whatever the film holds is to have it intermixed with all the components,” Croyle says, adding that the process is quick and uses affordable, standard equipment. “We really wanted to come up with something that would be transferable to developing countries.”
Immunization (免疫) programs depend much on keeping vaccines cold (2℃-8℃) as they are transported, sometimes over thousands of kilometers to far-away locations. Delivery can be difficult and costly, and transport disruptions can cause the vaccines to be ineffective.
But this new product can store live viruses, bacteria and antibodies for several months at 20℃. A paper published in Science Advance shows that a flu vaccine suspended in their film compares favorably with a traditional flu shot. “The study demonstrates early proof of concept for an exciting platform for vaccine product development,” says Lisa Rohan, a pharmacologist, who was not involved in the study. She also notes that each vaccine type would need a custom formulation (配方) for future development.
Finding partners to mass-produce for clinical trials is the researchers’ most pressing problem, Croyle says. They are also exploring packaging methods to keep their films stable up to 40℃.
Size is a major advantage — a letter-sized sheet of the film can carry more than 500 doses (剂) of vaccine, about 1/900 the weight of the same amount of traditional doses. By making it easier and cheaper to ship and preserve vaccines efficiently, the technology could vastly improve immunization rates, particularly in middle-to low-income countries.
1.What can we learn about the film?
A.It will replace vaccines. B.It can hold bio-products.
C.It contains animal’s DNA. D.It comes in different flavors.
2.What aspect of the film can we know according to paragraph 3?
A.Likely advantages. B.Development schedule.
C.Primary component. D.Transport requirements.
3.Why does the author quote Lisa Rohan?
A.To prove the study is favored widely. B.To advise personalizing vaccines.
C.To stress the roles of a new platform. D.To show the product is promising.
4.What will be the next urgent task for Croyle’s team?
A.Reducing the shipping cost. B.Seeking ideal manufacturers.
C.Improving the film’s capacity. D.Advertising the film worldwide.

(24-25高三下·江苏常州·开学考试)Picture this: you’ve just settled into your workday and pulled up that big report you need to finish, when a friend sends you a couple of celebrity videos on WeChat. 1 And then the next thing you know, an hour has gone by while that big reportsits, ignored, on your desk. So how does that happen?
To understand this, we conducted a series of studies and identified three factors: the amount of media the person has already viewed, the similarity of the media they’ve viewed, and the manner in which they viewed the media.
We found the order and types of content we consume can affect our decision to keep consuming similar content. But what drives this effect? 2 When something feels more accessible, it becomes easier to process, leading us to enjoy it more.
These results also explain why it’s so easy to get distracted by apps on social media at work. 3 They offer bite-sized content that makes it easy to quickly consume several videos in a row. They often automatically suggest similar content, and many of them even automatically start playing similar videos, reducing the potential for interruptions.
4 If you really want to watch multiple in a row, choose those that seem unrelated. You can also use a social media timer that urges you to take a break after a certain amount of time, or even just consciously remind yourself to consume different kinds of content.
So, if you’ re struggling to climb out of a rabbit hole, try to find ways to reduce the similarity, repetitiveness, and relatedness of the content you’ re consuming. 5 Once you manage to break free, you’ll be back at that big report in no time.
A.It can be difficult, but it’s not impossible.
B.To fight the pull, make an effort to just watch one video.
C.You figure you’ll just take a few minutes to watch them.
D.Accessibility refers to how familiar a given kind of content feels.
E.This will be a problem if you are kept from focusing on your work.
F.Many platforms are designed to trap viewers in a social media rabbit hole.
G.Prior research suggests the three factors increase the accessibility of similar media.

(2025·江苏无锡·模拟预测)阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给的段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
It was an unusually quiet morning in the emergency room on December twenty-fifth. Quiet, that is, except for the nurses standing around the nurses’ station complaining about having to work Christmas Day.
I was triage nurse (分诊护士) that day, and was having a cup of hot drink in the nurses’ station when an admitting clerk came to tell me I had five patients waiting to be evaluated.
I whined (哭嚷着), “Five, how did I get five!”
So I went straight out and called the first name. Five bodies showed up at my triage desk, a pale skinny woman and four small children in somewhat messy clothing.
“Are you all sick?” I asked suspiciously.
“Yes,” she said weakly, lowering her head.
“Okay,” I replied, unconvinced, “who’s first?” One by one they sat down, and I asked the usual questions. When it came to descriptions of their presenting problems, things got a little strange. Two of the children had headaches, but the headaches weren’t accompanied by the normal body language of holding the head or trying to keep it still painfully. Two children had earaches, but only one could tell me which ear was affected. The mother complained of a cough, but seemed to work to produce it.
Something was wrong. When I explained to the mother that it might be a little while before a doctor saw her because, even though the waiting room was empty, ambulances had brought in several more critical patients in the back, she responded, “Take your time! It’s warm in here.” She turned and, with a smile, guided her children into the waiting room.
I checked the chart after the admitting clerk had finished registering the family. No address — they were homeless. The waiting room was warm.
I went back to the nurses station and mentioned the homeless family in the waiting room. The nurses, complaining about working Christmas, turned to sympathy for a family just trying to get warm on Christmas.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右;

When Jane taught the sixth-grade class at Morris School, all 34 of her students were dear to her, while Mark was truly special. He had that happy-to-be-alive attitude that made even his occasional tricks delightful.
Mark talked all the time. Jane reminded him again and again that talking without permission was unacceptable, and his response always sounded sincere: “Thank you for correcting me, Sister!”
One morning, Jane’s patience was growing thin when Mark talked once too often. She looked at Mark and said, “If you say one more word, I’m going to tape your mouth shut!” Not even ten seconds passed before someone said, “Mark is talking again.” Having stated the punishment in front of the class, Jane decided she had to act on it. She walked to Mark’s desk, tore off two pieces of tape, made a big X with them over his mouth, and then returned to the front of the classroom.
As Jane glanced at Mark to see how he was doing, he winked (眨眼) at her. That did it! Jane started laughing. The entire class cheered as she shook her head and walked back to remove the tape. His first words were, “Thank you for correcting me, Sister.”
One Friday afternoon, after working hard on a new idea all week, the students were getting discouraged and starting to get annoyed with each other. To help lift their spirits and encourage a positive atmosphere, Jane asked them to write down the nicest things about the other students on a piece of paper and hand them in. Mark appeared nervous as if he was worrying his classmates would forget anything nice about him. That Saturday, Jane wrote down each student’s name on a separate sheet of paper and listed what everyone else had said about them.
On Monday, Jane gave each student their lists. As the children read them, the classroom was filled with quiet excitement and soft laughter.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Mark’s eyes widened as he read his paper.

A
(2025·江苏南通·二模)The Internet is a busy place, with billions of interactions, millions of content pieces, and large numbers of social media accounts and data about people.
B.Digital platforms as the main source of news.
C.The analysis of the reasons for Internet death.
D.Social media’s influence and its potential issues.
4.What is the author’s advice on interacting online?
A.Decrease the application of artificial intelligence.
B.Protect personal privacy by limiting shared details.
C.Try to identify the reliability of real human beings.
D.Keep a watchful eye on the Internet interactions.
【答案】1.A 2.C 3.D 4.D
【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章通过分析“互联网死亡理论”,探讨了人工智能和机器人对互联网内容和互动的影响。
1.细节理解题。根据第一段的句子“But in recent years, the so-called “dead Internet theory” has gained popularity. The theory suggests that most activity online is generated by bots(网上机器人) and AI agents, not by humans.(但近年来,所谓的“互联网死亡理论”开始流行起来。该理论认为,大多数在线活动是由机器人和人工智能代理产生的,而不是人类。)”可知,“互联网死亡理论”认为AI代理和机器人主导了在线活动。故选A项。
2.细节理解题。根据第二段的句子“If you spend a few hours on a video for your social pages, you expect to get likes, follows, and subscriptions. However, if you can produce three videos within the same time with AI assistance, you’re increasing your chances of creating those things within the same period.(如果你在你的社交页面上花了几个小时制作视频,你希望得到喜欢、关注和订阅。然而,如果你能在人工智能的帮助下在同一时间内制作三个视频,你就增加了在同一时间内创造这些东西的机会。)”可知,创作者使用AI是为了提升效率以实现目标。故选C项。
3.主旨大意题。根据第四段的内容“Dead Internet theory may be hyperbole, but it raises two important points. First, the Internet is undoubtedly moving in this direction. Second, and more significantly, the theory causes a broader unease about the emotional and social dynamics online. Social media is now the primary news source for many users around the world. Therefore, there’s potential for AI agents to promote false information and interact with each other to boost engagement, which does leave room for concern.(互联网死亡理论可能有些夸张,但它提出了两个重要的观点。
根据最后一段的句子“As information spreads faster than ever across digital platforms, caution is advised: Never assume it’s actually a human you’re interacting with on the other side of your screen.(随着信息在数字平台上的传播速度比以往任何时候都要快,我们要提醒大家:永远不要以为在屏幕另一边与你互动的实际上是一个人。)”可知,作者建议对网络互动保持警惕。故选D项。

五、书面表达
A
(2025·江苏无锡·模拟预测)阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给的段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
The nurses went into action.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The “party” lasted into the late afternoon.
________________________________________________________
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】The nurses went into action. Some claimed meals from the hospital cafeteria and prepared a banquet for our Christmas guests. Some prepared presents like candies and baskets of fruits. We took turns joining the “Christmas party” in the waiting room. Each nurse took his or her lunch break with the family, choosing to spend their “off duty” time with these people whose laughter and delightful chatter became quite contagious.
The “party” lasted into the late afternoon. Enveloped by the cozy atmosphere, the family enjoyed our company, contentment etched on their faces. At the same time, we were able to locate a shelter that would take the family in that night. When it was time for them to depart, the youngest came running towards me, hugged me tightly and whispered in my ear, “Thanks for being our angels today.” As she ran back to join her family, they all waved one more time before the door closed. I turned around slowly to get back to work, a little embarrassed for the tears in my eyes. What a memorable working Christmas!

(2025·江苏南京·二模)阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
Mark’s eyes widened as he read his paper. He sat there in silence, his face slowly turning red. It was obvious that he was deeply touched. Throughout the rest of the day, he held that paper close, as if it were the most precious thing in the world. When class was over, he came up to Jane and said in a soft voice, “Thank you, Sister. This means so much to me.” From that day on, Mark became even more polite and hard working. He no longer talked without permission and was always actively involved in class activities.
Jane was overjoyed to see Mark again at school after so many years. He had grown into a handsome and confident young man. Mark walked towards Jane with a big smile on his face. He hugged Jane tightly and said, “Sister, do you remember the list you gave me in sixth grade? I’ve kept it all these years. It changed my life. It made me believe in myself and strive to be a better person.” Jane was moved to tears. She realized that sometimes, a small act of kindness could have a huge impact on a child’s life. And those kind words written on the paper had become a precious memory and a source of strength for Mark.
