C Many plants and animals around the world are moving to cooler places because of global warming. Scientists did a research about more than 4, 000 species (物种) from around the world. They found that about half of them are on the move. To find cooler places, they are going up hills and mountains, and heading from the equator (赤道) to the poles (极地). Animals on land are moving more than 16 kilometers every 10 years, while sea animals are moving four times faster. In North America, for example, pikas (鼠兔) used to climb 13 meters every 10 years. But since the late 1990s, they have climbed an average of 145 meters every 10 years. Also, moths (飞蛾) on the mountains in Bomeo, a large island in the Pacific Ocean, moved 67 meters up the mountain between 1965 and 2007 to get away from rising temperatures. Moving species can cause problems. As species move to new areas, the local environment and other animals may not be able to deal with it. In Australia’s seas, tropical (热带的) fish are coming in and eating the kelp (海藻) forests. This is bad news for the local rock lobster (岩石龙虾) as it also feeds on kelp forests. Scientists also warn that the movement of species can make climate (气候) change more serious. Take bark beetles as an example. They are harmful and can cause more trees to die. As a result, these trees offer more fuel for forest fires, giving off more planet-warming carbon dioxide (二氧化碳), reported The Guardian. “Climate change is still going on. There is a risk that many species may die out as a result of all these changes,” a professor of the University of York, UK, told The Independent. 11. What did the research in paragraph 2 find out? A. About 2, 000 species will live around the poles. B. About 2, 000 species are moving to cooler areas. C. Animals on land will move into the sea in 10 years. D. Animals on land are moving faster than sea animals. 12. What does the underlined word “heading” in paragraph 2 mean? A. Climbing up B. Swimming in. C. Leading to D. Moving toward 13. What can we know from paragraph 3? A. Pikas used to live 13 meters up in the mountains. B. Pikas are speeding up their climb up the mountains. C. Moths are moving to live on an island in Bronco. D. Moths stopped their mountain movement in 2007. 14. Why does the writer mention the rock lobster in paragraph 4? A. To tell us why the kelp forests are dying out. B. To tell us the environment in Australia is getting worse. C. To show that not all species will move away from their homes. D. To show that incoming species may result in less food for local species. 15. What might the species movement mean for us? A. It can make things worse for us. B. It is the main reason for forest fires. C. It will be a way to slow down climate change. D. It mainly influences the northern half of the world. D Scientists have recognized that emotions (情感) play an important role in how we learn. Emotions connected to knowledge and understanding are especially important in learning environments. For example, feeling curious can lead to deeper connection with new material, while boredom can slow down learning. Awe (敬畏) is one such emotion, the feeling of coming across something beyond understanding. Earlier research exploring awe often took place in controlled labs. However, a team of researchers looked into awe in a more natural environment. The researchers asked 131 visitors who planned to watch one of the planetarium’s (天文馆) films to the center. Before entering, they answered questions about their knowledge of the film’s topic, their first interest in it and background information about themselves. The center was showing three films: one about Earth’s climate system, one about the Northern Lights, and one about stars and planets. After watching their chosen film, the viewers completed some surveys. They scored their interest in the topic again and completed surveys to check emotions they experienced and see if they thought critically (批判性). Finally, they completed a task to test how well they remembered about the film. The study proved that planetarium films created awe in viewers. They described experiencing awe, stronger or weaker depending on the film. The film about the Northern Lights drew out a stronger sense of awe. The researchers noted that the film presented information that was more difficult to understand. It might have contributed to the stronger feeling of awe. They also found that viewers who thought critically described feeling more connected to their environment during the awe experience. As for the memory task, the researchers found that experiencing higher levels of awe was connected to lower correctness in noticing mistakes, false statements, and inferences (推断). Viewers who had more earlier knowledge were better at finding mistakes and false statements but were more likely to falsely recognize inferences as being from the film. Perhaps the most important finding was that experiencing awe during the films greatly increased viewers’ interest in the topics. This finding supports the idea that awe can start curiosity and drive people to become more interested in science-related subjects. 16. Why does the writer use the example in Paragraph 1? A. To tell why emotions are connected to understanding. B. To introduce how emotions are used to explore knowledge. C. To show how different emotions influence learning activities. D. To argue why positive emotions improve learning environments. 17. What do the words “contributed to” in Paragraph 4 most probably mean? A. Dealt with. B. Broke through. C. Taken away. D. Resulted in. 18. What can we learn from the research mentioned in the passage? A. The research of awe should be carried out in controlled environments. B. Earlier knowledge was likely to lead to wrong judgments about inferences. C. Critical thinking weakened viewers’ sense of connection to the environment. D. The visitors needed to be divided into three groups according to their knowledge. 19. What is the writer’s main purpose in writing this passage? A. To explain people’s choices of films about experiencing awe. B. To report the effects of awe on learning and interest in science. C. To prove the importance of doing research on awe scientifically. D. To discuss the solutions to increasing curiosity in science through awe. 20. What will the writer write next? A. A detailed analysis of how other emotions compare to awe in learning. B. A discussion of the study’s limitations and suggestions for future research. C. Practical advice for educators to incorporate awe into classroom settings. D. A summary of the findings to reiterate the importance of prior knowledge. 第二节 阅读七选五(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) 阅读以下内容,从其后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,有两项是多余的。 Crying brings advantages to both your body and mind. ____21____ It also helps keep your eyes clean. C To show that not all species will move away from their homes. D. To show that incoming species may result in less food for local species. 15. What might the species movement mean for us? A. It can make things worse for us. B. It is the main reason for forest fires. C. It will be a way to slow down climate change. D It mainly influences the northern half of the world. 【答案】11. B 12. D 13. B 14. D 15. A 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍由于全球变暖,世界上许多植物和动物正在向更凉爽的地方迁移以及这种迁移所带来的问题。 【11题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段中的“Scientists did a research about more than 4, 000 species (物种) from around the world. They found that about half of them are on the move.”可知,研究发现大约2000种物种正在向较凉爽的地区迁移。故选B。 【12题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第二段中的“They found that about half of them are on the move. To find cooler places, they are going up hills and mountains, and heading from the equator (赤道) to the poles (极地).”可知,大约一半的物种在迁移,为了寻找更凉爽的地方,它们爬上小山和高山,从赤道到两极,所以划线词的含义是“朝着”。故选D。 【13题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中的“In North America, for example, pikas (鼠兔) used to climb 13 meters every 10 years. But since the late 1990s, they have climbed an average of 145 meters every 10 years.”可知,鼠兔正在加速向山上爬去。故选B。 【14题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中的“In Australia’s seas, tropical (热带的) fish are coming in and eating the kelp (海藻) forests. This is bad news for the local rock lobster (岩石龙虾) as it also feeds on kelp forests.”可知,在第四段,作者提到岩石龙虾的原因是为了表明外来物种可能会导致本地物种的食物减少。故选D。 【15题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中的“Moving species can cause problems.”、第五段中的“Scientists also warn that the movement of species can make climate (气候) change more serious.”以及最后一段中的“Climate change is still going on. There is a risk that many species may die out as a result of all these changes,”可知,物种迁移会让事情变得更糟。故选A。 D Scientists have recognized that emotions (情感) play an important role in how we learn. 【答案】16. C 17. D 18. B 19. B 20. Paper cutting is a very common but typical traditional art form that we can see everywhere around us—on the windows, cups or bags. My mom loves paper cuttings and she puts them up when the Spring Festival is coming. When I was a little kid, she taught me how to make paper cuttings. In my eyes, paper cutting is part of traditional Chinese culture and through paper cutting, people express their best wishes. I like the paper cutting of the Chinese character “chun” because spring means hope to me. I hope every spring is a good start for the year. Now I’m in a paper-cutting club. We often organize some activities or do some projects with our partners. For example, we can cut out some places of interest in Hebei. In this way, we can introduce the local culture of Hebei in a traditional way. I hope more and more people can know better about our traditional culture. Best wishes.
