Now there are about 32 million deaf children around the world. Deaf children often have problems in ___1___ to read. And smartphone maker Huawei, wants to help them out through a new app called StorySign. It is powered by artificial intelligence (AI).
Parents and teachers can use the app to help deaf children learn how to read. It is easy to use the app. Just open the app and ___2___ on the chosen book from the StorySign Library. Hold the phone up to the words on the page, and the AI Star will then sign the words as the printed words are highlighted (照亮).
Users can also ___3___ a book from the app’s book library. The first book on the StorySign platform is the popular children’s book Spot the Dog (《

Later that night when she goes downstairs to look at her presents, she is filled with ___6___ to see Father Christmas who hands her a book as a gift. When Father Christmas realizes that the little girl is deaf, Santa begins to sign the book to her.
The developers specifically design the product to make the app’s main character Star ___7___ with both boys and girls by making her an elder sister or friend. They will help the deaf children read and understand the book. Star’s facial expressions and hands are able to fully ___8___ the “perfect” sign language. Star also wears a hearing aid (援助). This way, not only are the deaf children learning to read, but they are also happy.
“We created StorySign to help make it ___9___ for families with deaf children to enjoy an enriched story time,” said Andrew Garrihy, Huawei’s CMO for Western Europe. Although many deaf children make an effort to learn to read, there are no resources that connect the differences between sign language and written text. Good study habits are important for all students. When you have good study habits, you will learn faster and have a good memory. It is useful to have a good memory. When someone says he has a good memory, it means that he keeps practicing by using it.
Do you usually study in the living room? This is not a good place for study because it is usually too noisy. You need to study in a quiet place, such as your bedroom. A quiet place will help you learn well. Before you begin to study, do not forget to clean your desk. I think it is necessary to put away your things. It helps you study well, too. Enough light is good for your study. You will feel tired easily if there is not enough light.
Of all the good study habits, one has developed: asking questions is the key. Just ask. No one knows everything, but we can always learn from others by asking questions. Another simple but helpful habit is to tell yourself what you are studying for. Put your dream grades on your desk. It means you will see and think about it every day.
When do you work best? Are you an early bird or a night owl (猫头鹰), or something in between? Find your most productive work time and then plan to study at the time. I believe you will make great progress in your study.

Imagine trying to run through a field, but there are a lot of things in your way.You have to slow down to get through. But if the field is cleared, you could run as fast as you want.
This is how electricity goes through a superconductor (超导体). While in normal conductors, the electrons (电子) may come across many other particles (粒子), they have a clear path in a superconductor. This means the electricity can travel with no resistance (电阻) in a superconductor and wastes no energy.
Recently, scientists said they had created a superconductor that can work at room temperature. If proven true, it could become one of the “greatest scientific achievements of the 21st century”, wrote Physics magazine.
The first superconductor was discovered in 1911 by Dutch scientist Heike Onnes. He found that mercury(汞) cooled to - 269° C would lose all resistance to electricity.Since then, scientists have been trying to use superconductors in different areas.
One coolest use is in the maglev (磁悬浮的) trains. The magnetic fields and superconductor interact (相互作用), creating a force that pushes the magnet up.
But currently, the superconductor only works when the temperature is very low. It means the price is high and it cannot be widely used. The new study, done by scientists from the University of Rochester, US, created the superconductor with hydrogen (氢), nitrogen (氮) and lutetium (鲁) at 21℃. It still required a pressure of about 10,000 times that of Earth’s atmosphere . But that’s far lower than the pressure typically required for superconductors.
If this new material can be used in the city grid (电网), “a lot of energy can be saved,” said Luo Huiqian at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The maglev trains would become faster, reaching 800 to 1000 kilometers per hour. The material could also lead to faster computers, and thus development in AI and other areas that need fast computing.
21. What is a superconductor?
A. It is the wire we use to transmit electricity.
B. It allows electricity to flow with no resistance.
C. It is a conductor with high resistance to electricity.
D. It is a device used to cool mercury to - 269℃.
22. Why is it difficult to widely use superconductors currently?
A. Because they can release high air pressure.
B. Because they only work at the temperature of 21℃.
C. Because they can produce lots of heat.
D. Because they work only in low temperatures.
23. Compared to the current superconductor, the new one in the study ________.
a. can work at a higher temperature b. costs less to produce
c. requires much lower air pressure d. needs fewer materials to produce
A. bc B. ac C. ab D. bd
24. If the room-temperature superconductor comes true, ________.
A we won’t lack electricity anymore
B. technologies in many areas can be improved
C. the maglev trains will move without resistance
D. the transmission of electricity can be momentary
25. What’s the structure of the passage?
A. B. C. D.
B 22. D 23. B 24. B 25. C

根据第五段“But currently, the superconductor only works when the temperature is very low. It means the price is high and it cannot be widely used.”
根据“The new study, done by scientists from the University of Rochester, US, created the superconductor with hydrogen (氢), nitrogen (氮) and lutetium (鲁) at 21℃. It still required a pressure of about 10,000 times that of Earth’s atmosphere. But that’s far lower than the pressure typically required for superconductors.”
据最后一段“If this new material can be used in the city grid (电网), ‘a lot of energy can be saved,’ said Luo Huiqian at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The maglev trains would become faster, reaching 800 to 1000 kilometers per hour. The material could also lead to faster computers, and thus development in AI and other areas that need fast computing.”

A. we won’t lack electricity anymore
B. technologies in many areas can be improved
C. the maglev trains will move without resistance
D. the transmission of electricity can be momentary
25. What’s the structure of the passage?
A. B. C. D.
