Good morning. My name’s Samantha and I’m here to welcome you on behalf of panorama tours. I’ve prepared a fact sheet for each of you, but before I give them out, there are just a few things I’d like to add. There are various trips organized by panorama tours which you might like to book. These are listed on your fact sheet. Payment must be made at the time of booking and in order to reserve a place on the coach, you must make a reservation with a minimum of 24 hours notice. For dining options, explore local restaurants in the town centre as the hotel only serves breakfast. At the bottom of the fact sheet, you’ll find a list of names and addresses. You can get a ten per cent discount on your meal by informing the restaurant staff that you’re with panorama tours. If you plan on shopping, shops open late in the morning, anything between ten and eleven, but stay open until late at night. However, banks close early, so be careful as changing money is best done through a bank. If you do run short of cash, most stores will accept credit cards, but there is an additional charge for the service.

A four-year-old boy with autism (孤独症) had the experience of a lifetime when he entered a real bike competition by chance and won! His mother shared a memorable video of his victory on social media. The little boy was clearly proud to earn his very first award, looking excited as he posed in front of his small bike while holding the award.
His smile lit up the faces of everyone present. The boy’s mother was deeply grateful to the adult players who went out of their way to make her child feel special during the competition. She knew that her son’s bike couldn’t compare to the actual bikes on display that day, which were much larger and faster. However, the players in the event thought it was more important to make a little boy’s dream come true.
“To the two bikers who should have taken first place and second place, they taught my son so much more than they know,” the mother said. “Thank you for being so kind.” While the boy enjoyed his first prize in the bike competition, she ensured that he understood the importance of showing respect for the rules of a sport and for the other players. She encouraged him to shake hands with the other winners, thank and congratulate them.
Reflecting on the event, the mother wrote, “When adults go out of their way to show kindness to kids, especially some with higher needs, the influence lasts longer than most people know. Interactions like these can really change the course of a child’s life. My little son was so lucky to experience such kindness.”

The snow leopard is a big cat. It has developed to live in some of the most terrible conditions in the world, and is found in some of Central Asia’s high mountain ranges.
Kazakhstan is now celebrating the revival of this endangered species within its borders. This follows the success of local conservation efforts, which have increased the number of these dwindling wonderful big cats, doubling them in the last thirty years. Since 2019, they’ve increased by over 26%. It is thought that there are between 152—189 of these big cats in the country. This is a significant achievement, as the snow leopard is listed in the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s (IUCN) Red List and the national Red Books of all 12countries within its range.
However, human activity remains the greatest threat to the survival of this species. A good example of this threat is provided by the photo of a snow leopard, standing beside and not affected by a huge truck on a Kazakhstan road, which went popular in 2022. The animal was rescued by Almaty Zoo, but sadly died soon afterwards. Later a plastic bag was found inside its stomach. To protect them, Kazakhstan signed a deal with Kyrgyzstan in 2024. They’ll share knowledge, watch over the cats and their habitats, and raise public awareness.
Snow leopards are at the top of the food chain, and their survival shows that the mountain ecosystem is healthy. Importantly, the harmony between people and nature is the central part of these efforts. Cooperations (合作) like these are very important, because these countries represent a cross-border region of traveling of snow leopards. A greater understanding of these mountain ecosystems will benefit local people who depend on them, as well as future protective efforts.
In Kazakhstan, the snow leopard is not only a national symbol but also a mascot (吉祥物) for the Asian Winter Games. With continued efforts, these amazing animals will keep living in the mountains.
28.What does the underlined word “dwindling” in paragraph 2 mean?
A.Reduced. B.Unchanged. C.Temporary. D.Upset.
29.Why does the writer mention the death of a snow leopard in paragraph 3?
A.To voice his/her thanks for the Zoo. B.To prove his/her point.
C.To warn people against dropping litter. D.To remind people of careful driving.
30.What is the key factor for protecting snow leopards?
A.Stopping illegal hunting of snow leopards.
B.Providing food for snow leopards.
C.Knowing the habits of snow leopards.
D.Keeping the balance between humans and nature.
31.Which situation may arise in the future according to the text?
A.Snow leopards will completely disappear from the Earth.
B.There will be snow leopards race in Asian Winter Games.
C.The population of snow leopards will continue increasing.
D.Snow Leopards will be pets of every family in Kazakhstan.

根据第二段“Kazakhstan is now celebrating the revival of this endangered species within its borders. This follows the success of local conservation efforts, which have increased the number of these dwindling wonderful big cats, doubling them in the last thirty years.(哈萨克斯坦现在正在庆祝这种濒危物种在其境内的复苏。这是在当地保护工作取得成功之后,这些保护工作增加了这些数量不断dwindling的神奇大型猫科动物的数量,在过去三十年里数量翻了一番)”可知,前文提到雪豹是濒危物种,可知这里说的是数量曾经是减少的,所以“dwindling”意思是减少的。故选A。
29.推理判断题。根据第三段“However, human activity remains the greatest threat to the survival of this species. A good example of this threat is provided by the photo of a snow leopard, standing beside and not affected by a huge truck on a Kazakhstan road, which went popular in 2022. The animal was rescued by Almaty Zoo, but sadly died soon afterwards. Later a plastic bag was found inside its stomach.(然而,人类活动仍然是该物种生存的最大威胁。2022年一张在哈萨克斯坦公路上雪豹站在一辆巨大卡车旁且未受影响的照片很好地说明了这一威胁。这只动物被阿拉木图动物园救了下来,但不幸的是不久后就死了。后来在它的胃里发现了一个塑料袋)可知,作者提到雪豹的死亡是为了举例证明前面所说的“人类活动仍然是该物种生存的最大威胁”这一观点。故选B。
30.细节理解题。根据第四段“Importantly, the harmony between people and nature is the central part of these efforts.(重要的是,人与自然的和谐是这些努力的核心部分)”,可知保护雪豹的关键因素是保持人与自然的平衡。故选D。

In my childhood memories, when my classmates asked me how to pronounce those foreign sounds in our English class, I always said that it was easier to sing them. I was trained in music, so it seemed natural to use music as a way to learn new sounds. But I wondered, was there any truth in what I recommended?
Later, I found that a growing body of research has proved that adult musicians’ brains are indeed functionally different from non-musicians’ brains. The differences were largely explained by the amount of music training they received as children. However, an important question remained: Were these effects driven by genetics (遗传学) or by personal experience?
In a research program, we invited 9-month-old babies and their caregivers to our lab for 12 separate 15-minute visits over a month. We randomly assigned (随机分配) half of the babies to attend music lessons. During the process, their caregivers actively connected with the babies, such as moving them in time with musical beats. The other half just played freely. At the end of the month, we measured the babies’ brain activity in response to musical and speech sounds. We found that the babies attending the music lessons showed improved brain responses. These responses reflected their detection (察觉) of small differences in both musical and speech sounds: The result suggests that my earlier suggestion on learning foreign sounds through music might be reasonable.
Then what would happen in babies’ everyday lives? We collected daylong audio recordings made in North American babies’ home environment when babies were 6, 10, 14, 18, and 24 months. Much to our surprise, we found that babies’ listening environment is mainly filled with speech rather than music. Further, the music that babies hear is largely from an electronic product that is not intended for them.
Despite the ever-growing market for music, our youngest children are missing out on quality musical interactions at home that could be highly beneficial to their development. It’s clear that we should focus on improving these opportunities to make a positive impact on millions of families.
32.Which method of language learning did the author suggest during childhood?
A.Working with a partner in class.
B.Using singing to aid pronunciation.
C.Practicing sounds by loud repetition.
D.Memorizing words by listening to music.
33.What does the music training for babies in the study show?
A.It improves sound recognition abilities.
B.It drives communication with parents.
C.It helps develop better concentration.
D.It greatly reduces stress levels.
34.What came as a shock to the author?
A.The shortage of online music education.
B.The age-related speech differences.
C.Babies’ limited contact with music.
D.Digital products’ harm to babies.
35.What does the author recommend to support children’s development?
A.Adding speech-related exercises.
B.Increasing musical toy production.
C.Offering professional music training.
D.Enriching early musical experiences.

I’ve never been a self-confident boy. In class, even when I knew the answer perfectly, I would lower my head, afraid to catch the teacher’s eye. Group discussions were a living nightmare (噩梦), as I was convinced that my ideas were never good enough. This lack of confidence had deeply affected my life in various aspects.
One day, my English teacher, Mr. Smith, announced a school-wide English speech contest. Everyone was encouraged to take part. I was filled with fear at the thought of standing on stage in front of so many people. But Mr. Smith, with his sharp eye, seemed to have noticed my hesitation. He came to me after class and said sincerely, “Tom, I think you have great potential. This could be a chance for you to shine.” His words gently planted a small seed of hope in my heart.
I decided to give it a try. I spent days writing my speech, carefully choosing every single word. Then came the practice. When I stood in front of the mirror, my hands would shake. But I didn’t give up. I practiced day and night, each time a little more bravely.
Finally, the day of the contest arrived. As I stepped onto the stage, my heart was pounding so hard that I could hear it in my ears. The audience seemed like a vast ocean of eyes, all staring at me. For a moment, I froze, my mind going blank. But then, I remembered Mr. Smith's words and all the hard work I had put in. I took a deep breath and began to speak.
At first, my voice was soft, but as I gradually got into the rhythm (节奏) of my speech, it grew stronger and more confident. I poured my heart and soul into every sentence, sharing my story sincerely. When I finished, there was a moment of silence, and then thunderous applause (雷鸣般的掌声) filled the hall. I had done it!

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
The host finally announced, “The first-prize winner is Tom!” I stood rooted to the spot, disbelief and joy washing over me. The words echoed in my ears as if in a dream. My classmates’ cheers blended with the judges’ nods of approval, and I felt a rush of warmth prickling my eyes. Glancing at Mr. Smith, I saw him beaming, his eyes bright with pride. This wasn’t just a win — it was proof that my endless hours of practice and newfound courage had paid off. The fear that once haunted me melted away, replaced by a sense of accomplishment I’d never known.
I walked up to the stage on shaky legs to receive my award. As I grasped the trophy, its weight grounded me in reality. “Thank you,” I managed, my voice steady despite the trembling. Turning to face the audience, I spoke from the heart: “Once, I was too afraid to speak up. But Mr. Smith’s belief and my own determination changed that.” The applause swelled again, and I realized confidence isn’t born overnight — it’s forged through challenges. From that day on, I vowed to embrace every opportunity, knowing that beneath my self-doubt lay a strength waiting to shine.

It was so sweet that the other adult cyclists made the cycle-loving boy the star of the show. He will remember the amazing day, which was filled with joy and encouragement, in his whole life.

A.He had the fastest bike.
