Dear Susan,
How are you? I’m excited to tell you about our school’s “Shenzhen Sound Map” project. Students recorded different sounds in Shenzhen to show its unique charm. Let me share my discoveries.
My journey began at Dameisha Beach in Yantian. There I caught the sounds of the soft waves and the cheerful birds, which made me feel peaceful. Later, while exploring Nanshan, I recorded drones buzzing and students cheering as a robot greeted them in English. What touched me most was that, wherever I went, I could hear volunteers guiding and helping those in need. Their gentle voices were truly the most beautiful sound.
Yantian’s waves, Nanshan’s sounds of technology, and people’s kindness mix like music. This is Shenzhen, a city that brings together nature, innovation and volunteer spirit.
What sounds represent your city? Can’t wait to hear from you!
Best wishes,
Li Hua

Every Sunday morning I take a jog around a lake near my home. Each time I jog by this lake, I see the same

Ⅱ. 阅读理解(40分)
第一节 阅读下列短文,从下面每小题的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。(共15小题,每小
题1.5分)
A
Shi Wei, a 28-year-old Chinese racer known online as Tie Dou, made history as the first Chinese female driver
in the F1 Academy. In May 2025, she will compete in Shanghai, turning her childhood dream into reality.
Growing up playing racing video games like Need for Speed, Shi has a strong interest in cars. After working in
media for four years, she left her job in 2018. Her life changed completely in 2020 when she first saw a real F1 car.
That’s when she decided to become a professional racer. “It felt like my childhood game had come alive,” she said.
Racing requires a lot of strength, especially for female drivers. Pressing brake pedals (踩刹车) requires 45-55
kg of force—equal to lifting an adult! To build leg power, Shi trains six hours daily in Ningbo. When travelling, she
even does squats (深蹲) with a friend on her back. This hard work made her neck 2.5 cm thicker in three months
and her legs became strong enough to control high-speed cars.
Shi’s daily training includes gym exercises, driving, and recovery time. “Racing isn’t just about speed; it’s
about keeping going even when it’s hard,” she said. Her hard work finally paid off with a spot in the F1 Academy.
There she’ll compete against top female racers worldwide.
Shi hopes her story will encourage more Chinese women to join motorsports. “Many girls think motorsports is
only for men. I want to change that,” she explained. As more Chinese women enter racing, Shi’s journey lights the
way for future generations to follow their racing dreams.

Australians are known for their bravery. After all, when you live in a country that has almost every kind of
snake and spider, nothing seems so scary anymore. But even they respect the cassowary.
英语 第 3 页(共 6 页)
This giant bird stands as tall as an adult human (up to 1.8 metres), weighs over 60 kilograms, and has sharp
claws (爪子) up to 12 centimetres long. It looks like a creature from the age of dinosaurs.
Cassowaries play an important role in rainforest ecosystems. As the largest fruit-eaters on Earth, cassowaries eat
and digest (消化) dozens of fruits every day. Their droppings help seeds spread and regrow throughout the forest.
Unlike most birds, male cassowaries are “full-time single fathers”. That is, male cassowaries look after the
young alone. After females lay 3-5 eggs, males incubate (孵) them for about 50 days without leaving the nest to
better protect the chicks.
Although cassowaries seldom attack humans, accidents happen from time to time. Last year, a video showed a
woman in Queensland trying to keep her food out of the claws of a hungry cassowary. However, a study found 75%
of attacks happen when humans are feeding them. Experts advise staying calm if you meet a cassowary: hide food
and move slowly.
Home loss, road accidents, and dog attacks have reduced their population to fewer than 4,500 in Australia. “Far
more cassowaries die from humans than the other way around,” says researcher Peter Rowles. Protecting these
“living fossils” is necessary—not only for their survival but for the survival of whole rainforest ecosystems that
depend on their seed-spreading magic.
16. What does paragraph 2 mainly tell us?
A. The title of cassowary. B. The habits of cassowary.
C. The role of cassowary. D. The appearance of cassowary.
17. What is the cassowary’s most important role in rainforests?
A. Reducing harmful insects. B. Spreading plant seeds.
C. Balancing the food chain. D. Attracting tourists.
18. Which of the following statements is TRUE about male cassowaries?
A. They raise chicks alone. B. They lay 3-5 eggs.
C. They hunt in groups. D. They travel seasonally.
19. What do experts suggest doing when you meet a cassowary?
A. Run away quickly. B. Shout for help. C. Feed it at once. D. Hide your food.
20. What does the underlined sentence in paragraph 6 mean?
A. Humans die more easily than cassowaries in accidents.
B. Cassowaries attack humans more often than in the past.
C. Humans kill more cassowaries than cassowaries kill humans.
D. Both humans and cassowaries have similar death rates.
C
In China, AI chatbots like DeepSeek are becoming popular helpers. Students chat about exam fears, and young
parents ask about family arguments. These computer programs give replies day or night, earning the name “24-hour
digital friends.” But can AI truly replace human doctors?
A 2024 report shows that 45% of people who need mental health (心理健康) care failed to receive help. High
costs and doctor shortages remain big problems. Professor Daniel Lowd explains, “AI chatbots offer free support
anytime. They are not perfect, but if they reduce people’s loneliness, that’s meaningful progress.”
英语 第 4 页(共 6 页)
However, human doctors have special skills that machines can’t copy. During meetings, they notice important
details like tears, which help them understand hidden pains. They change treatment (治疗) plans weekly based on
patients’ conditions. Professor Richard Lachman warns, “Chatbots repeat doctor-like words without real medical
training. This could be risky.”
Some companies are trying to create safer AI tools. The Wysa app follows strict UK hospital rules, always
telling users “I’m not a real doctor” during talks. It suggests breathing exercises for stress and connects users to
human experts for serious problems.
For quick help with simple issues like school pressure or friend fights, chatbots work well. They’re free and
never get tired. But for long-term mental health needs, human doctors do better. They remember your birthday,
notice your new haircut, and laugh at your jokes just like your friends. Building this kind of rapport is something
AI cannot achieve.
The future might see chatbots dealing with common questions while doctors focus on serious problems. It
might be better to use both: chatbots for quick advice at midnight, and real doctors for deeper conversations during
daylight hours.
21. Why do some people use AI chatbots for help according to paragraph 1?
A. Chatbots can notice small details like feelings. B. Chatbots can give free advice to people.
C. Chatbots can answer questions anytime. D. Chatbots can help students with exams.
22. What is Professor Daniel Lowd’s attitude towards AI chatbots?
A. Partly supportive. B. Strongly against. C. Fully trusting. D. Totally uninterested.
23. How does Wysa make the AI tools safer?
A. It always gives correct answers to patients. B. It follows strict rules in US hospitals.
C. It connects users to police in serious cases. D. It says “I’m not a real doctor” during chats.
24. What does the underlined word rapport in paragraph 5 probably mean?
A. Relationship. B. Technology. C. Convenience. D. Conversation.
25. According to the passage, what will happen in the future?
A. AI will replace all doctors. B. AI and doctors will work together.
C. Human doctors will not use AI. D. AI will not provide mental health care.
