This noise causes much trouble to ocean animals. However, according to a new study, climate change might influence how sound travels through the water. Human-caused climate change influences the ocean in many ways, such as changing its temperature, salt levels, and acidity (酸度). When the water becomes more acidic, it also can’t absorb (吸收) certain sounds. So those sounds travel further, adding to the noise in some areas. However, this influence is not as big as other changes. Changes like temperature and salt level can influence how the ocean’s different layers (层) mix. That, in turn, influences how sound travels. “We were surprised to see that actually there was a big change in the North Atlantic,” says Luca Possenti, who studies sound in the ocean at the Royal Netherlands Institute. Scientists used computer models to study future ocean noise. They compared today’s oceans to predictions for 70 years later if climate change continues. In the North Atlantic, they found louder noises in the top 125 meters of water. This was caused mostly by ice melting (融化) from Greenland, forming a cold layer of water near the ocean’s surface. When sound travels through water, it turns toward the coldest area. This made sound waves get stuck (被困住) in the cold top layer and spread further out across the water instead of traveling deeper. As a result, the sound became louder at this specific depth in the North Atlantic. Rising noise levels in the Atlantic Ocean are worrying because they could stress animals that depend on sound to communicate, hunt, and navigate. Marine mammals (海洋哺乳动物) like whales already stay away from noisy harbors, but if noise keeps rising everywhere, it’s unclear how they’ll deal with. This could harm the balance of ocean life, making survival (生存) harder for many species. Fish and other sea animals also use sound to find mates or stay safe from enemies. More noise might make their numbers drop. Scientists warn that we need to act now—cutting underwater noise and fighting climate change—to protect ocean animals and their homes. 21.What may influence the way sound travels in water according to the new study? A.Shipping. B.Human activities. C.Oil drilling. D.Climate change. 22.Which of the following does not influence the ocean? A.Wind speed. B.Ocean acidity. C.Salt levels. D.Ocean temperature. 23.How do scientists predict future ocean noise levels? A.By counting the number of ocean animals nowadays. B.Using computer models comparing present and future. C.Through underwater microphones in harbors. D.By studying historical climate data only. 24.What might happen if ocean noise continues to increase everywhere? A.Fish will develop better hearing abilities. B.Marine animals may fight for survival. C.Sound waves will travel deeper into the ocean. D.Climate change will slow down naturally. 25.Which of the following would be the best title? A.Why Ocean Animals Avoid Noisy Harbors B.How Climate Change Influences Ocean Noise and Marine Life C.The Dangers of Acidic Water in the Atlantic D.Melting Ice and Its Impact on Whales’ (2025·山东济南长清区·一模)Governments around the world are pushing for an end to plastic straws (吸管) and bags. More and more businesses are changing to paper products. Using paper is considered to be better than plastic. However, it is harmful to the environment, too. Firstly, paper bags and straws are made from trees. Trees, as you know, are good for the environment. They can slow down climate (气候) change. An increase in the use of paper bags need to cut down more trees. Secondly, the production of paper things requires more energy and water. About 10 percent more energy and four times as much water is used to produce a paper bag than a plastic one. You might say that we can use recycled paper to save that energy and water. This seems to be a good idea. However, it takes even more energy and water to go through the recycling process than to make a new paper bag. Products made from recycled paper are also often short-lived. Furthermore, paper products are heavier than plastic ones. That means they require more fuel (燃料) to transport. Seven trucks are needed to transport two million paper bags, while only one truck is needed to transport the same number of plastic bags. The increased weight also leads to a larger amount of waste once the bags are thrown away. Paper products are actually a lose-lose for both the environment and businesses. They are more expensive than plastic products. A paper straw costs about 5 to 12 cents, while a plastic one usually costs only about 2 cents. The most environment-friendly way is to avoid single-use things altogether. Products like glass water bottles and steel straws can be used over and over again. They are much better than either paper products or plastic products. By increasing the use of these items, you can greatly reduce your throwaway waste and truly make our earth a greener place! 26.What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph I refer to? (2025·山东济南莱芜区·一模)Because of busy lifestyles and work stress, more Chinese people are now turning to AI tools like DeepSeek to talk about their problems. They share feelings with the chatbot and receive warm advice. This practice, known as “AI therapy (疗愈),” is becoming popular online. But can robots really replace human therapists? Around the world, 45 percent of people who needed mental health care in 2024 did not get it because it was too expensive or there weren't enough doctors, according to Huntington Psychological Services. Daniel Lowd, an associate professor at the University of Oregon, believes AI could help fill this gap. “If people can find some support and ideas by talking to ChatGPT or chatbot, then I think that's wonderful,” Lowd told Newsweek. Li Yong, a doctor at the Jiangsu Province Hospital, agreed with Lowd, saying that AI meets people’ s basic needs for emotional support to a point. However, AI has its limits (限制). Human therapists understand feelings deeply through face-to-face talks and create suitable treatment plans— something robots can't fully copy. Dr. LiuYang, a Beijing-based psychologist (心理学家), notes “An AI might recognize keywords like ‘divorce’ or ‘layoff’, but it cannot find out small emotional shifts in tone or body language”. This point becomes important when dealing with a series of situations, where misunderstandings could be dangerous. Another problem is safety. AI might act like a therapist without proper training or rules. It cannot match the level of responsibility that human therapists have. Experts believe the key to safe AI therapy is strict government control. For example, Wysa, an AI mental health app, follows strict medical standards in the UK. Data privacy appears as another large concern (担忧). Users usually share personal details on AI platforms, yet few companies clearly state how this information is stored or used. In 2024, a major Chinese mental health app faced criticism when users found their chats were being analyzed for advertising algorithms (算法). As AI becomes part of daily life, finding a balance between its benefits and risks is important. While AI offers quick help, human connection remains irreplaceable for serious emotional needs. 36.What makes people turn to “AI therapy”? A.AI therapy is warmer. B.AI tools are free. C.People feel much pressure. D.DeepSeek is popular. 37.What does the underlined word “it” in paragraph 2 refer to? A.Mental health care. B.The AI tool. C.The medical standard. D.The government control. 38.What is the main idea of paragraph 3? A.AI therapy is nicer and cheaper than human therapists. B.AI robots will soon replace human therapists in hospitals. C.AI can perfectly copy human therapists’ skills and methods. D.AI has limits in understanding deep emotions and safety risks. 39.Why does the writer mention the Wysa app? A.To give an example of safe AI under rules. B.To prove robots can deal with emergencies. C.To show AI is cheaper than human doctors. D.To explain why China needs more therapists. 40.What can we infer from the passage? A.AI therapy will completely replace human therapists. B.AI is useful for basic support but not for serious cases. And have you ever wondered what happens to the unsold bread? Lately, this topic has brought a wide discussion on the internet. Bread has a short sell-by date, because it is usually kept at room temperature. “Freshly baked bread can only be kept for 24 hours, while packaged (包装好的) bread lasts 3 days.” said a bakery manager in Jiangxi Province. To solve this problem, some bakeries sell the near-expired (临期的) bread at a lower price. But others would rather throw it way. “If we start furthering discounts, we are afraid that many customers will just wait for the discounted bread”, said a bakery owner, “This will hurt our daytime sales.” Can bakeries reduce the production to cut down on waste? A bakery manager explained, “A shelf full of bread catches the eye. This will make people want to buy more bread.” Most bakeries don’t want to cut back on the bread types, either. “People prefer freshness, so we need to keep introducing new types,” said Lu Liang, a bakery owner in Shanxi Province. What can bakeries do with near-expired bread? According to a baking teacher, bakeries can donate it to people in need. And the expired bread can be sent to recycling companies and turned into food for animals. In addition, some bakeries sell near-expired bread through “blind boxes”. At a bakery in Shanghai, for example, there is a blind box sale from 8 p. m. to 9 p. m. every day. People can get a random type of near-expired bread at a low price. “It's great because it reduces food waste,” said one customer. “And the blind box always gives me some fun!” 41.How does the writer begin the passage? A.By asking questions. B.By stating facts. C.By listing numbers. D.By giving reasons. 42.How long can we keep packaged bread? A.8 hours. B.24 hours. C.3 days. D.9 days. 43.What might happen if a bakery reduces the kinds of bread types? A.There will be less waste in bakeries. B.Customers will lose interest in buying. C.The bakery will save more money. D.The bakery will draw new customers. 44.How do customers feel with “blind boxes” according to the text? A.Familiar. B.Upset. C.Scared. D.Pleased. 45.What can be a suitable title for the text? A.How to deal with the unsold bread? B.Where to buy more fresh bread? C.Why is it hard to sell packaged bread? D.What is needed to sell bread well? (2025·山东聊城冠县·一模) Have you ever imagined what bees can do with their tiny brains? Now scientists are looking into a bee’s brain. Clint Perry, a scientist, has spent much time studying how bees think. He says studying bees is not very different from studying other animals. “The main difficulty is to design (设计) an experiment (实验) bee and get what we want,” he says. “With humans, we can ask them a question and get an answer. But we can’t use the same way to get an answer from bees. They are just trying to get sugar. Bees like sugar.” The fact that bees like sugar is helpful for scientists to design experiments. For example, in one experiment, Perry gave bees a task: to find delicious sugar on a landing place above a black bar (棒). Perry made the task easier or harder by moving the landing place farther from or closer to the black bar. He found that bees would avoid the task when it was difficult. And when the task was easy, bees would try it. As for humans, we might choose not to take a test when we weren’t ready for it. And we might choose to take the test when we were well prepared. In the same way, bees seemed to make decisions like humans. Perry points out that we are not sure whether bees actually make a thoughtful choice from experiments. Now scientists still do not know how bees manage to do so much with their tiny brains. But learning more about how bees’ brains work could help us learn more about how our own brains deal with information. 46.What did Perry study in his experiments? A.How bees sleep. B.How bees think. C.How bees dream. D.How bees fly. 47.What can we know from Paragraph 2? A.Bees can talk. B.Bees are lazy. C.Bees like sugar. D.Bees are very clever. 48.What would bees do when the task was easy according to Paragraph 3? A.They would try it. B.They would avoid it. C.They would praise it. D.They would do it well. 49.What’s the importance of looking into bees’ brains? A.It tells us how bees make honey. B.It helps us learn how human brains work. C.It tells us how to make thoughtful choices. D.It lets us know how to deal with information. 50.Where is the article probably taken from? A.A story book. B.A travel magazine. C.A sports magazine. D.A science magazine. (2025·山东泰安新泰·一模) Were you surprised by the humanoid robots (人形机器人) performing the Yangko dance at this year’s Spring Festival Gala? Wait for it! Another humanoid robot can even do a front flip (前空翻). These days, humanoid robots seem to be able to do almost anything. But what makes them so smart? The secret lies in artificial intelligence (AI). Since 2022, big progress in generative (生成式) AI has pushed humanoid robots to the next level. Companies are coming up with amazing technologies like large language models (LLMs). Peter Chen from Covariant said that LLMs, which power ChatGPT, can be used to improve robotics. LLMs learn from tons of data (数据) and use that knowledge to help robots think. Visual (视觉的) AI helps robots understand what they see in photos and videos. This mix of LLMs and visual AI allows robots to know how things relate (关联) and interact (交互), improving their ability to move and perform tasks. But being smart isn’t enough—robots also need to move well. In the past, even simple tasks like picking up an apple were hard for robots. These days, new technology makes them better. Using light materials like carbon fiber (碳纤维) makes robots strong and flexible (灵活的). While sensors (传感器) let them see, hear and “feel” their environment, motors (发动机) help them move easily. Take Unitree Robotics’ H1 humanoid robot as an example. It has a 3D LiDAR sensor, a depth camera and a powerful M107 joint (关节) motor. Humanoid robots are on the rise. The market for these robots could be worth276.9billion yuan by 2035. 51.What has been a big reason for humanoid robots’ rapid development since 2022? A.Better sensors. B.New motors. C.Progress in generative AI. D.Wide use of carbon fiber materials. 52.How do large language models improve robots, according to Peter Chen? A.They let robots move more easily. B.They let robots learn from data. C.They make robots look more human. D.They help robots sense their environment. 53.Why did the writer mention Unitree Robotics? A.To introduce the latest humanoid robot. B.To explain how humanoid robots interact with humans. C.To offer some tips for training a humanoid robot. D.To show how technology helps robots move better. 54.What can we learn from the last paragraph about humanoid robots? A.They will take over the robot market. B.China took the lead in this industry. C.There is a growing market for them. D.Their prices are expected to increase. (2025·山东泰安东平县·一模) For more than a month, the world has been excited about a new AI model, DeepSeek-R1. It was developed by DeepSeek, a Chinese business based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. The new AI was released on Jan 20. In just one week, it beat OpenAI’s ChatGPT and became the top free application (应用) in Apple’s App Store, reported Xinhua. Its developer said that DeepSeek-RI is as good at difficult tasks as other big models but needs less computing power (算力). It is also the cheapest of its kind and took only about 5.57million US dollars (40.58 million yuan) to develop. That is way less than the hundreds of millions or even billions that US businesses have had to spend on building similar AI models,Marc Andreessen, a technology expert in the US,told Xinhua. DeepSeek-R1’s success largely came from its special training method. Traditionally, AI is trained in two ways. One is Chain-of-Thought (CoT, 思维链), where AI learns to break problems into smaller, simpler steps. The other is Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT, 监督微调) , which works by showing Al lots of practice problems along with the right answers for it to find a pattern. DeepSeek-R1, however, used Reinforcement Learning (RL, 强化学习) as the core (核心) method, Xinhua reported. In RL, Al learns by trying different things. It gets rewards (奖励)for correct actions and gets punished for mistakes. For example, in a game, it gets points for picking up trash (垃圾) and loses points for breaking a glass. Over time, it works out the best solution all by itself. This is how DeepSeek-R1 has grown to be a reasoning model, which is a new type of Al, noted Microsoft engineer Vinayak Hegde. Regular (常规的) AI models, like GPT-40, usually just give direct answers. But reasoning models are trained to both think and show the process. 55.What is one of the strong points of DeepSeek-R1compared to other AI models? A.It’s cheaper to develop. B.It’s smarter than others. C.It’s better at difficult activities. D.It’s quicker at solving problems. 56.How does DeepSeek-R1 learn? A.By breaking problems into smaller steps. B.By finding the right patterns in practice problems. C.By finding the right way to do things independently. D.By following all kinds of orders from its creators. 57.How can the reasoning model be described? A.It gives direct answers. B.It provides a lot of reasons. C.It gives the best solution. D.It thinks and then decides. 58.What is the passage mainly about? A.The application of DeepSeck-RI. B.The challenges faced by DeepSeek-R1. C.The differences between Al models. D.The introduction to DeepSeek-RI. (2025·山东东营胜利一中·一模)Imagine looking through 3.7 million outfits (全套服装) online to find the right one. Sounds really hard, doesn’t it? Well, with the help of AI stylists (造型师), it’s not so hard anymore. An AI stylist can help people choose outfits. It searches for pictures of clothes online and collects thousands of outfits created by human stylists. It can also understand words and pick out important information about each piece of clothing. It keeps all the pictures and words in a data set (数据集). Then, the AI stylist gives people fashion (时尚) ideas according to what they like. A team of people look after the data set and make sure it always has the newest information. They help the AI stylist get better at choosing clothes by improving its rules. The AI stylist can also suggest something new to try, even if it’s a little different from what the user usually wears. People often like to try something new! An AI stylist can run into problems when people from different cultures use it. What is popular in Asia may be different from what is cool in Europe. The AI stylist should know what is popular in each place and change its advice to match people’s likes in different places. So, people make rules for Al stylists to follow. Different countries can change these rules to match different styles. An AI stylist also has to keep up with “fashion rules”. Sometimes, certain clothes don’t go well together. It is difficult for the AI stylist to understand. So another AI model that can understand the cut, style and color of outfits adds that information to the data set. People have compared outfits by AI stylists and human stylists, and AI stylists have done pretty well. Maybe one day we won’t put together an outfit without using our AI stylists first. 59.Why do people create AI stylists? A.To sell clothes for online stores. B.To guess what will be in fashion. C.To help people pick and match outfits. D.To give fashion ideas to clothing makers. 60.What do the team of people do for AI stylists? A.Control the data set of outfits. B.Test AI stylists’ fashion advice. C.Connect AI stylists with the Internet. D.Find pictures and words about clothing. 61.Which of the following might be a challenge for an AI stylist? A.Comparing users from different cultures. B.Suggesting something new for users to try. C.Picking out important information about clothing. D.Choosing different styles for users from different countries. 62.Which of the following shows the structure of the passage? A.①②③//④⑤ B.①//②③//④//⑤ C.①//②//③//④⑤ D.①//②//③④//⑤ 63.What does the writer think of the future of AI stylists? A.Bright. B.Uncertain. C.Worrying. D.Meaningless. (2025·山东聊城莘县·一模)“You pretty, he ugly. You swan, he frog!” Foreign people just love this funny English sentence going around the Chinese internet. It all started when a foreign girl named Kris posted a sad photo online. It looked like her boyfriend made her cry. Some nice Chinese people tried to cheer her up. They asked her to find someone better. Some made funny Chinglish to make her feel happy, such as “You swan, he frog.” This became a hit with foreigners. Many found it cool. They shared it a lot online and made funny pictures with it. Some of them wanted to know why Chinese people use “swan” and “frog” to describe this couple. After looking into it, they learned that it came from the famous old Chinese story of the beautiful swan and the ugly toad (癞蛤蟆), and got interested in the Chinese stories behind Chinglish. In the past, people often corrected those who spoke Chinglish because it was full of grammar errors. However, with globalization (全球化), people from different countries can now share their ideas more often. Different styles of speaking English are becoming common and even accepted. English with local touches can also be popular. For example, the well-known “add oil” has now appeared in the Oxford dictionary and people use it widely. The phrase shows Chinese culture. “It’s great that more Chinese culture is being shared with the rest of the world.” Cody, a young man from New Zealand told China Daily. 64.Some Chinese people made funny Chinglish to ______. They were the first people to live in New Zealand. In the late 18th century, Europeans came to live in New Zealand. At that time, the population of the Maori was maybe 250,000 in New Zealand. Over the next one hundred years, wars and disease killed many Maori people. By the end of the 19th century, there were only about 40,000 Maori people left. During this time, the Maori also lost much of their land to the Europeans. Many of them were afraid that they might lose their traditions and language too, but this did not happen. Today the Maori population is increasing. There are about 500,000 Maori people in New Zealand. Most live like other New Zealanders, but they are keeping the Maori language and traditions alive. There are now Maori radio and television stations. Many schools teach in the Maori language. Nearly one half of Maori language speakers are 25 years old or younger. Maori culture is also alive and well. At the center of Maori culture is the “marae”. This is a special place for ceremonies and meetings. Today the number of marae in New Zealand is increasing. Many of the new marae are in the cities. Now people in the cities can meet and learn about their Maori traditions. Today most New Zealand cities have Maori festivals each year. Among festival activities are competitions in speaking, dancing and singing. Children practice for months. Then all the Maori in the area arrive to watch the competitions and see who wins. The Maori have gone through hard times. Today they live a happy, modern life. They keep their cultural traditions alive, because they have passed and are passing them on to their children. 69.When did the Maori first arrive in New Zealand? A.Around 11th century. Teamwork can be hard. In fact, it was so difficult that I left my office job and started working from home on my own. It’s a much better fit for me, and it has made me think about why teamwork can make our jobs harder rather than easier. Personalities (个性) can make teamwork difficult. There’s often someone on the team that puts their needs first. The team often goes along with this person, whose ideas might not be the best, just the loudest. Just one difficult personality can make teamwork hard. Combine (结合) several challenging personality types, and it’s even harder. Not having enough time together can also make teamwork challenging. For example, I was once on a team where we never had enough time to meet as a group. To successfully work as a team, you need time together — and lots of it. A final reason teamwork is difficult is because there’s often no training on how to work on a team. You can’t just put people in a room and expect them to work well with each other. You need to build trust with your team members. Think of football players: They aren’t just given a ball and told to play. They practice, and they train. Team can be hard, but working alone has its challenges, too. When my computer doesn’t work, I don’t have an IT person to turn to. When I have a great idea, I don’t have anyone to share it with to see if it really is a great idea. Don’t get me wrong — I still like my team of one and enjoy making all of the important decisions myself. But now I realize what was wrong with the teamwork I did in the past and how good teamwork could be if done correctly. And that’s useful information — because one day I might want to turn my ME TEAM into a WE TEAM. 77.Why did the writer choose to work from home on his own? A.To keep himself busier. B.To keep himself healthier. C.To make his job easier. D.To make his team harder. 78.Which of the following makes teamwork difficult? A.Strong personality. B.Lots of teamwork time. C.Challenging ideas. D.Clear team roles. 79.What does the author say about time and teamwork? A.Teams need a lot of time together to succeed. B.Teams can work well even without meeting often. C.Time is not important for teamwork. D.Teams should only meet once a week. 80.What can we learn from the last paragraph? A.WE TEAM has hardly any advantages. B.ME TEAM needs a lot of IT engineers. C.ME TEAM has no challenges for the writer. D.WE TEAM may be the writer’s choice one day. 81.What is the purpose of the text? A.To show the advantages of teamwork. B.To tell the importance of teamwork. C.To introduce the influence of teamwork. D.To explain the difficulties of teamwork. (2025·山东枣庄薛城区·一模)Why did Chinese people have more than one name in ancient times? In ancient China, people’s names had three parts, their family name, given name and courtesy name. Take famous poet Li Bai for example. His family name, which came from his father’s name, was Li. His given name was Bai, and his courtesy name was Taibai. People used their given names when they were among family members. But in social life, they called each other by their courtesy names to show respect. This was mostly done among people of similar age. If you were talking about yourself, or if your elders were talking about you, the given name would be used instead of the courtesy name. Men would get their courtesy names when they turned 20. It was a symbol of adulthood (成年礼). Women would get their courtesy names after getting married. One’s courtesy name often had something to do with one’s given name. For example, the name of Mencius was Meng Ke. His courtesy name was Ziyu. Both Ke and Ziyu mean “carriage (马车)”. Zhuge Liang’s given name was Liang, which means “bright”. His courtesy name was Kongming, which means “very bright”. 82.What does the underlined word “courtesy” in Paragraph 2 mean in Chinese? A.名 B.姓氏 C.字 D.昵称 83.Why did people call each other by their courtesy names in social life? A.To show their love. B.To show their good relationship. C.To show their kindness. D.To show their respect. 84.What’s the main idea of the passage? A.The famous poet Li Bai. B.Three parts of ancient names. C.The ancient names and the modern names. D.The development of names. Yet more than 700 million people around the world have trouble getting clean and safe water. Treating wastewater (废水) is a good way to provide fresh water for us. And it also helps the environment by keeping waste out of rivers and oceans. 80% of wastewater around the world is not treated at all, and it is running into oceans. But now we have got the technology to treat and reuse the wastewater. While 75% of our planet is covered with water, only 2% is fresh water—that comes from rivers, lakes, ice and snow. The rest, 98% of the water, is in seas and oceans. It is too salty to drink. Then desalination businesses come in. More than 19,000 factories have been built around the world, mostly in coastal (沿海的) countries. They process (加工) more than 92 million tons of water every day. But the technology they use requires a lot of energy. Scientists are working to create a less costly (昂贵的) technology. However, flood (洪水) control and disaster forecasts (灾害预报) of the river have always been challenging for people. Now, scientists can better work on these issues by giving the river a digital (数字化) twin. The digital twin of the Yellow River uses different kinds of technologies, including big data, artificial intelligence, and the internet of things. Devices (设备) are set up along the river and collect and transmit (传送) information to the center. Based on the information, a 3D model of the river is showed on the computer screen. It’s like the Yellow River has a twin that reflects its real conditions. One big thing in the digital governance (治理) of the river is “smart stones”. According to Wang Qin, a lead researcher at the Information Center of Yellow River Henan Bureau, a smart stone is a detector (探测器) with chips, a battery, and a signal transmitter in it. They are put in important dike (堤坝) locations to record and report the movement of dike stones. “On feeling movement of the dike stones, the smart stone sends an alarm to the center for quick response,” Wang said. “In the past, researchers had to learn the conditions of the dike on the spot by themselves, putting their lives at risk,” said Zhao Xiaoxiong from the bureau. “Now the smart stones can do this for us, more safely, quickly, and accurately (精确地).” In the sky, there are flying drones. These drones are designed by engineers to look at the river, its dikes and flood prevention projects. Shen Lin, from the Yellow River Conservancy Commission, explains that the drones provide researchers at the command center with photos and information. The researchers use this information to update a 3D model, which helps them test floodwater release plans in case of emergencies. Under the water and up in the sky, intelligent systems are helping to protect the Yellow River based on all fronts. According to the Ministry of Water Resources, in the future, we can expect to see the construction of an even more comprehensive digital system for this important river. 93.What is the main purpose of creating a digital twin of the Yellow River? A.To conduct historical research. B.To raise public awareness of river protection. C.To improve flood control and prevention efforts. D.To create a virtual tourist attraction. 94.What technologies are used for the creation of the digital twin of the Yellow River? A.Solar energy, hydropower, and mechanical devices. B.Big data, artificial intelligence, and the internet of things. C.Nuclear energy, biotechnology, and communication technology. D.Geothermal energy, robotics, and aerospace technology. 95.What is the use of “smart stones” in this system? A.They act as detectors to monitor and report the movement of dike stones. B.They are used to build the dikes along the river. C.They are decorative elements along the river banks. D.They help to filter the river water and keep it clean. 96.What is the meaning of the underlined word “issues”? A.困难 B.问题 C.麻烦 D.挑战 97.What is the main idea of this text? A.The Yellow River is the origin of Chinese civilization. B.The Yellow River’s flooding and disaster forecasts have always been challenging. C.The digital twin of the Yellow River improves data collection and assists in flood control. D.The future of the Yellow River’s protection lies solely in technological advancements. In recent years, scientists have done research about the feelings of cows, frogs and pandas. ________ It says that humans can tell whether a chicken is happy or sad by listening to its calls. The researchers put a bowl behind a door. Inside the bowl, sometimes, there was something chickens love to eat, such as rice or insects. Sometimes, there was nothing. When the chickens saw food behind the door, they seemed happy and produced fast and loud sounds, known as food calls. When there wasn’t food, the chickens made low and long noises to express disappointment. The researchers recorded all these sounds and studied their waves. Then the researchers chose 16 recordings of such chicken noises. Half were from the chickens seeing the food and half were from the chickens finding no food. The recordings were played to 194 volunteers. Sixty-nine percent of the volunteers correctly understood whether the chickens were feeling happy or not, and some of them even had no experience of taking care of chickens. The result shows that humans have the natural ability to understand the feelings of chickens. Hopefully, this finding can bring about new technology to help with chicken-raising, a big industry in many countries. Some scientists are already working on a smart computer program that can identify chickens’ feelings. This is good news for farmers who want to make the birds happier and healthier. 98.Which of the following can be put in “________” in Paragraph 1? A.Humans may not like animals. They do not know exactly why yawning happens, but they do know many facts about yawning. We know that everyone yawns in the same way. First you open your mouth slowly. Your mouth stays open for about five seconds. You take in a lot of air and then push it out. Then you quickly close your mouth. We also know that yawning is contagious. When you see someone yawn, you yawn, too. Many people say they yawn because they are bored or tired. That might be true. People do often yawn before they sleep and after they wake up. However, we know that people also yawn when they are excited or nervous. Olympic runners, for example, often yawn before a race. Why is that? In 2007, scientists found that a yawn can help a warm brain cool down. Some scientists believe that yawning makes you notice things more quickly. When you yawn, you breathe deeply. You also stretch (强化) the muscles (肌肉) in your face, mouth, and neck. Your eardrums stretch, too. Maybe this helps you to be quicker to notice things. In some countries, people think yawning is not nice. People put their hands over their mouths to cover a yawn. In other countries, people think yawning is healthy. They think that opening the mouth very big can let good things in. When they breathe out, they think that bad things go out of the body with the air. Scientists do not spend much time studying yawning. That is probably because yawning does not hurt. It is just something we do. 105.What does the underlined word “contagious” in Paragraph 2 mean? A.Able to spread quickly. B.Able to breathe easily. C.Able to change easily. 106.Why do Olympic runners often yawn before a race? A.They are too tired or too bored. B.A yawn can let good things in. They cannot live for long periods in cold weather. For this reason, each autumn around October, the butterflies from Canada travel up to 3,000 kilometers south to spend the winter in warmer places. Some even fly to the mountains of Mexico. There are so many of them that they almost block out the sky. You can even hear their wings beating. ③It usually takes the butterflies two months to reach the south of Mexico. After spending five months there, they head back north in the spring. But not one butterfly finishes the whole round-trip. They lay eggs along the way and die. Three generations (代) of butterflies will live and die during the spring journey alone. The fourth and final generation of the year is born in early autumn and will reach the north. But the butterflies hardly get to rest before starting the long journey south again to Mexico. ④The most amazing thing about these butterflies is that they return to the very same trees in Mexico that their great-great-grandparents used the winter before. ⑤However, the populations of this colorful butterfly have dropped in recent years. ⑥In 2015, the US Fish and Wildlife Service said that nearly a billion monarchs have disappeared since 1990, reported the Washington Post. ⑦One of the main reasons, experts say, is that farmers have used chemicals on plants that the monarchs’ larvae (幼虫) live and feed on. 109.Which word can replace the underlined word “migration” in paragraph 1? Quickly and carefully, she put a tiny electronic device (电子设备) into the jellyfish. “It takes a little bit of practice,” she says. “But once you know how to do it, it’s very simple and very quick.” Xu is an engineer at the University of Colorado Boulder. She handed the jellyfish to a pair of divers (潜水员) waiting in the water along the coast of Woods Hole, Mass. The divers took the animal down to the bottom of the ocean, then let it go. Speedily, it swam up to the top of the ocean. Jellyfish swim by pushing water through their bodies. The device that Xu put in the jellyfish used electricity to jolt the jellyfish’s body so they moved faster. It reached the top of the ocean more than twice as fast as usual. In lab tests, the device made the animals swim three times faster. With its device, this jellyfish is called a bio hybrid robot. That means it has electronics, such as the device in the jellyfish, that work together with a living system. Researchers are building bio hybrid robots with all kinds of living parts. Scientists are making bio hybrid robots with many different living parts, like insect antennae, human skin, and fungus. It may seem strange or weird to mix-up technology and living parts. But living beings have developed to perform certain tasks over millions of years. In many cases, that allows their bodies to do things that remain difficult or even impossible for machines. “By uniting biology and engineering, you can create robots with abilities beyond traditional machines,” says Shoji Takeuchi. He develops bio hybrid robots at the University of Tokyo in Japan. This bio hybrid robot is just the beginning. For a large number of students, math tops the list. Some students are so troubled that they can’t fall asleep the night before a math exam. Their minds are filled with worries about difficult problems. During the exam itself, others may feel extremely nervous, with their hearts beating fast and hands shaking. However, there might be an unexpected way to reduce this stress. “For students who are worried about math, posture (姿势) makes a big difference,” Erik Peper, a researcher from a university, told Daily Mail. It turns out that sitting up straight can be a game-changer in math exams. Researchers carried out a test on 125 college students. They asked the students to take a math exam in two different postures: sitting in a slumped-over (萎靡的) position and sitting up straight. During the test, the students’ expressions on their faces and body language clearly showed the difference. After the test, a significant 56% of the students reported that the exam seemed easier when they were sitting up straight. Slumping over is a defensive (戒备的) posture. It has the possibility to cause negative (消极的) memories in both the body and the brain. These bad connections can mess up your thinking and stop you from thinking clearly about math problems, as Peper explained. On the other hand, students who were not too nervous about the math exam didn’t necessarily get an advantage from better posture. But interestingly, they still found that doing math in a slumped-over position was more challenging, as reported by Science Daily. Good posture isn’t just helpful for math exams. Musicians can find that sitting or standing properly helps them play more smoothly and expressively. Sports players can improve their performance by keeping an upright standing posture. Public speakers can get more attention and project confidence. When you’re feeling stressed, try sitting up straight or standing tall. It can change your feelings, making you feel more positive (积极的) and enabling you to focus better. So, next time you have a math exam or face a stressful situation, remember the power of good posture. 125.According to Paragraph 2, what can help students do better in math exams? A.Studying harder. B.Sitting up straight. C.Slumping over. D.Taking deep breaths. 126.How many of the college students had a good change in the math exam? A.70. B.56. C.125. D.35. 127.What can we learn from Paragraph 3? A.Good posture helps relaxed students more. B.Negative memories don’t affect problem-solving. C.Slumping over affects body memories only. D.Even relaxed students’ math gets harm in bad posture. 128.What is the value of Erik Peper’s research? A.It helps all kinds of people get famous. B.It helps stressed people perform better. C.It makes students start to like maths. D.It makes math exams more challenging. 129.What is the text mainly about? A.Math is a hard subject for students. B.How to reduce stress before math exams. C.Good posture can make a difference. D.The importance of posture in keeping healthy. A.Using plastic straws. B.Using plastic bags. C.Using paper products. D.Using single-use things. 27.What does the writer think of the recycled paper? A.It saves energy and water. B.It seems not to be a good idea. C.It is better than single-use paper. D.It’s easy to make by recycling process. 28.Which of the following is NOT true? A.It is believed that paper products are better than plastic products. B.Avoiding single-use things is the most useful for environmental protection. Actually, I disagree. Water is a human right (权利) and everyone should have their share. They want to produce 20 times more clean water and make sure everyone has enough. But for now, the world still faces each day with not having enough water for everyone. 85.How many people have trouble in getting clean water around the world? A.Under 10 million. B.Only 19 million. C.About 92 million. D.Over 700 million. 86.What does the underlined (划线的) word “desalination” in Paragraph (段) 3 mean? A.远洋运输 B.潮汐发电 C.食盐销售 D.海水淡化 87.What can we infer (推断) from the last paragraph? Do you yawn (打哈欠) ? There are about 20 reasons that scientists think are possible for yawning after research. C.A yawn can help a warm brain cool down. 107.What is the main idea of Paragraph 5? A.Different ideas about yawning. B.The good of yawning. C.The bad of yawning. 108.What would be the best structure of the passage? A. B. A.Birth. B.Travel. C.Death. D.Study. 110.What is the most amazing fact about the monarch butterflies’ migration? A.The butterflies can cover up to 3,000 kilometers. Here are some of the most surprising real examples of animal-machine joins—and the types of tasks they might be especially suited for. 120.What does Nicole Xu do according to the text? A.She is a worker. B.She is a diver. C.She is an engineer. D.She is a fisherman. 121.What is the purpose of taking the jellyfish to the ocean bottom? A.To see if it can be alive. B.To test its swimming speed. C.To let it go back to nature. D.To make the jellyfish shine. 122.What does the underlined word “jolt” mean in paragraph 3? A.Excite. B.Stop. C.Protect. D.Keep. 123.What do we know about the bio hybrid robot? A.It is a machine only powered by electricity. B.It is a living animal without man-made parts. C.The living animal plays an important role in it. D.The living parts will be used in it in the near future. 124.What may be written in the following text? A.The future of bio hybrid robots.
