As is known to us all, honesty has always been a traditional virtue in China. Despite the passage of time, honesty has been passed down as a mainstream value. 1
A famous Chinese idiom (成语) , yinuo qianjin, tells such a story. In the early Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24) , a general named Ji Bu was known for being courageous and honest. Legend has it that whenever Ji made a promise, he would make an effort to keep it. 2 There was a saying widely spread: It is better to have a promise from Ji Bu than to get hundreds of ounces (盎司) of gold.
3 During the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) , Li Daquan, a successful businessman in Shanxi province, was visited by a friend who came up with a new idea. In ancient China, carrying a large amount of cash was not only a heavy burden (负担) but could also put the owner in danger. His friend proposed that a draft (汇票) be issued to replace the real cash. This draft was not only a promise to pay, but also could be cashed everywhere. Li readily agreed and kept his word. The story soon got around, and Li’s honesty brought him a flood of customers and a good business. 4 Such is the beginning of the Chinese banking industry. His banking business finally expanded into 35 branches across the country. Rishengchang has been preserved and turned into a museum now.
In today’s China, the spirit of honesty is still well-respected. China selects national role models every year. 5
A.Everyone should try to be an honest person.
B.Honesty is priceless and honesty also brings creativity.
C.Such a virtue of honesty earned him a good popularity.
D.China is a famous country that values and respects honesty.
E.Li Daquan later set up China’s first draft bank, Rishengchang.
F.It is also shown in countless stories throughout China’s history.
G.Their stories are told across the country to promote the virtue of honesty.

1.分析设空,位于首段段尾,,应是承接上文,并引出下文,根据上文“As is known to us all, honesty has always been a traditional virtue in China. Despite the passage of time, honesty has been passed down as a mainstream value. (众所周知,诚实一直是中国的传统美德。尽管时间在流逝,诚实已经作为一种主流价值观传承下来)”以及下文举了两个中国历史上两个诚信的故事,所以F项“这也体现在中国历史上无数的故事中。”符合文意,承接上文,并引出下文。故选F项。
2.根据前文“In the early Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24), a general named Ji Bu was known for being courageous and honest. Legend has it that whenever Ji made a promise, he would spare no effort to fulfill it. (西汉初年(公元前206年-公元24年),一位名叫季布的将军以勇敢和诚实而闻名。传说,每当季许愿时,他都会不遗余力地去实现它)”以及后文“There was a saying widely spread: It is better to have a promise from Ji Bu than to get hundreds of ounces of gold. (有句谚语流传甚:与其得到几百盎司的黄金,不如得到季布的承诺)”可知,空处应是过渡句,由介绍季布的事迹,到这么做的结果,所以C项“这种诚实的美德为他赢得了良好的声望”符合文意,是前面行为的结果。故选C项。
3.分析设空,位于段首,应是本段的中心句,根据后文“During the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) , Li Daquan, a successful businessman in Shanxi province, was visited by a friend who came up with a new idea.
4.根据前文“The story soon got around, and Li’s honesty brought him a flood of customers and a good business. (这件事很快就传开了,李的诚实给他带来了大量的顾客和生意兴隆)”以及后文“Such is the beginning of the Chinese banking industry. His banking business finally expanded into 35 branches across the country. (这就是中国银行业的开端。他的银行业务最终扩展到全国35家分行。)”可知,空处应是过渡句,由李的故事过渡到中国银行业,所以E项“李大全后来成立了中国第一家汇票银行日升昌”符合文意。故选E项。
5.根据前文“In today’s China, the spirit of honesty is still well-respected. China selects national role models every year. (在今天的中国,诚实的精神仍然备受推崇。中国每年都会评选国家榜样。)”可知,现在人们仍旧推崇诚实的精神,评选全国的榜样,因此推断G项“他们的故事在全国播出,以树立好榜样,促进诚实的美德”符合文意。承接前文,故选G项。
(23-24高一下•山东名校•期中)In a highly technical world, there is something quite magical about the timelessness of the public library. And the impact and importance of libraries extends across decades, centuries even, dating back to 4th century BC in Athens. 1 They serve as community cornerstones and give free access to books, resources, and information.
A study by Pew Research Center found that 94% of Americans agreed that having a public library improves the quality of life in a community, and 95% said that libraries give everyone a chance to succeed and promote a love for reading. 2 Here are a few of the reasons why they are so important.
Libraries promote education.
Beyond the free access to books and computers, many libraries also offer valuable services including tutoring, learning camps, and homeschooling resources. Many libraries host STEAM events for kids where they get to experience life as an astronaut, learning about the solar system and working together to build robotic, space-related projects. 3
Libraries build a sense of community.
4 So, whether you join a monthly book club or read book submissions from local authors, you’re broadening your horizons, making connections, and learning from other members — ones who you may have never crossed paths with otherwise.
5
Original documents are digitized and maintained at libraries. This helps preserve the nation’s cultural heritage, as well as provide an opportunity to better understand others’ points of view. If you ever get the chance, visit the New York Public Library to explore its database of over 1,800 newspapers, magazines, and journals, all published between 1740 and 1940.
A.Libraries preserve history.
B.Libraries restore valuable documents.
C.Also they can work well for homeschooling families.
D.But the impact of public libraries is greater than expected.
E.Libraries are gaining popularity among young people today.
F.Libraries can break down barriers and bring people together.
G.Over time, libraries have developed into what we know them as today.

2.根据前文“A study by Pew Research Center found that 94% of Americans agreed that having a public library improves the quality of life in a community, and 95% said that libraries give everyone a chance to succeed and promote a love for reading.
4.根据本段段旨“Libraries build a sense of community.( 图书馆建立了一种社区意识。)” F选项“Libraries can break down barriers and bring people together.(图书馆可以打破障碍,让人们走到一起。)”

The other day, a friend sent me an email, asking if I’d consider writing about educational apps for children to watch while on road trips. The email said, “ 1 And often with long car rides comes the use of on-screen entertainment. These educational apps can develop their art, math, science, engineering and design skills.”
While the intention is well-meaning, I disagree with his idea. There is so much to see on a road trip! 2 So what can a child do in the car? There are plenty of off-screen activities that a child can do to pass the time.
Take physical books along. Choose some novels for an older reader, get cartoon books, or take interactive books such as I Spy, coloring books, puzzle books, etc.
Play games. 3 Print out a map of the country and color in each state as you notice a license plate from there. Keep a record of the different colored cars you see. Play the old classic alphabet game.
4 Parents can find online lists of good questions to get older kids talking, such as, “If you could travel anywhere in the world, what are your top three destinations and why?” “If you could have a dinner party with three people, who would you invite?” Not only is this fun, but it keeps the driver refreshed.
Long road trips shouldn’t just be about endurance (耐力); they should also be about learning how to pass the time without a screen. So, challenge yourselves to a screen-free road trip the next time you go somewhere as a family. 5
A.Have some conversation starters ready.
B.The Great License Plate Search is a fun one.
C.You may be surprised at what a success it is.
D.Collect your kids’ questions before starting off.
E.Many are turning to road trips for a late-summer escape.
F.Help your kids to make a list of things they’ll see on the trip.
G.If they stare at a screen, they’ll miss everything outside the window.

1.根据空后“And often with long car rides comes the use of on-screen entertainment.(通常,长时间乘车往往会带来屏幕娱乐的使用。)”
2.根据空后“So what can a child do in the car?(那么孩子能在车里做什么呢?)”可知,空后提出问题,且根据连词So可知,此空与空后构成因果关系,前文“There is so much to see on a road trip!(在公路旅行中有很多要看的东西!)”
3.根据空后“Print out a map of the country and color in each state as you notice a license plate from there. Keep a record of the different colored cars you see. (打印出一张国家地图,当你看到一个牌照时,就给每个州涂上颜色。记录下你看到的不同颜色的汽车。)”可知,空后是对车牌大搜索这个游戏的解释,故B项“车牌大搜索是一个有趣的游戏。”符合,故选B项。
4.根据空后“Parents can find online lists of good questions to get older kids talking, such as, “If you could travel anywhere in the world, what are your top three destinations and why?”(父母可以在网上找一些好的问题让大一点的孩子畅所欲言,比如说“如果你可以在世界上任何地方旅行,你的前三个目的地会是哪里?为什么?”)”可知,空后提出父母可以在网上找一些好的问题让大一点的孩子畅所欲言,故本段主要提出在出发前将问题准备好,故A项“准备好一些开场白。”符合本段首句,为本段的主旨句,表示在车上打发时间的具体方式之一,故选A项。
5.根据空前“So, challenge yourselves to a screen-free road trip the next time you go somewhere as a family.(因此,下次当你和家人一起去某个地方时,挑战自己一下,进行一次无屏幕的公路旅行。)”
(23-24高一下•山东临沂•期中)It’s a fantastic idea to reread novels. 1 For a while, I saw little point in rereading. Why reread a favourite when there are other books waiting for you? Most book lovers have long books waiting to be read. It seems a waste of time to reread a novel. The aspect of time is an important point for readers — a novel simply is not a poem, short story or movie.
2 For one, the purpose of reading changes. You are no longer familiarising yourself with the plot, characters or setting. These narrative points were made clear in the first read. Rather, the second and third reading allows greater focus on the theme, literary references, style and the more subtle (细微的) aspects of the novel. This makes for a more enjoyable read. In many ways, a novel is like an endless treasure chest of pirate gold. 3
Another delightful part of rereading is the lack of need to “understand” a novel. You’ve already read it and can now determine the extent of your enjoyment. However, there’s a possibility of disliking a novel at second glance. There’s nothing wrong with this! 4 It’s through rereading that we develop an understanding of our tastes.
I’m not suggesting that rereading is superior to (优于) reading novels for the first time. Yet, it’s worth arranging time for two or three novels a year. You shouldn’t reread any book. Rather, pick a favourite to start with, preferably a story you read over a year ago. 5 It’s entirely possible not to enjoy a novel at first but go on to appreciate it at a different stage in your life.
Either way — keep reading.
A.Our tastes and preferences change.
B.However, it wasn’t something I often did.
C.Yet plots, characters and settings still matter.
D.Still, I must mention the benefits of rereading.
E.I prefer the latter even though the enjoyment is less.
F.Or, pick a novel you are having second thoughts about.
G.You’ll always find something previously undiscovered.

1.前文“It’s a fantastic idea to reread novels. (重读小说是个好主意)”认可重读小说的价值,后文“For a while, I saw little point in rereading. (有一段时间,我觉得重读没有什么意义)”提到有一段时间自己未意识到重读的意义,空处应该有转折,可能与并不经常重读相关,B项“However, it wasn’t something I often did. (然而,这不是我经常做的事情)”符合语境,引出后文。故选B。
2.上一段“Most book lovers have long books waiting to be read. It seems a waste of time to reread a novel. The aspect of time is an important point for readers — a novel simply is not a poem, short story or movie. (大多数爱书人都有大部头的书等着读。重读一本小说似乎是浪费时间。时间对读者来说是很重要的一点——小说不是诗歌、短篇小说或电影)”指出重读小说对读者而言似乎是浪费时间,后文“For one, the purpose of reading changes. (首先,阅读的目的改变了)”和“Rather, the second and third reading allows greater focus on the theme, literary references, style and the more subtle (细微的) aspects of the novel. (相反,第二和第三次阅读可以让你更加关注小说的主题、文学参考、风格和更微妙的方面)”,以及下一段中“Another delightful part of rereading is the lack of need to “understand” a novel. (重读的另一个令人愉快的地方是不需要“理解”小说)”具体陈述了重读小说的好处,空处作为段首句,应该指出重读小说是有好处的,从而引出后文,D项“Still, I must mention the benefits of rereading. (不过,我必须提到重读的好处)”符合语境,和上一段构成转折,契合后文内容。故选D。
3.前文“In many ways, a novel is like an endless treasure chest of pirate gold. (从很多方面来说,一部小说就像一个装满海盗黄金的无尽宝箱)”把小说比作装满海盗黄金的无尽宝箱,空处应该会指出小说中总会有可以挖掘的东西,G项“You’ll always find something previously undiscovered. (你总会发现一些以前未被发现的东西)”符合语境,承接前文。故选G。
4.前文“However, there’s a possibility of disliking a novel at second glance. There’s nothing wrong with this! (然而,也有可能第二眼就不喜欢一本小说。这没有错)”指出重读小说发现不再喜欢是正常的事情,后文“It’s through rereading that we develop an understanding of our tastes. (正是通过重读,我们才能对自己的品味有所了解)”说明重读对了解个人品味的作用,空处应该会从品味的角度解释为什么喜好的变化是正常的,A项“Our tastes and preferences change. (我们的品味和偏好会改变)”符合语境,承上启下,其中的tastes在后文有同词复现。故选A。
5.前文“You shouldn’t reread any book. Rather, pick a favourite to start with, preferably a story you read over a year ago. (你不应该重读任何一本书。相反,选择一个最喜欢的开始,最好是你一年前读过的故事)”就如何选择重读的书给出建议,提议可以先重读最喜欢的,空处应该也与如何选择相关,F项“Or, pick a novel you are having second thoughts about. (或者,选择一本你正在重新考虑的小说)”符合语境,与前一句是选择关系。故选F。
(23-24高一下•山东烟台•期中)It’s often said that there’s a need for better work guidance for us teenagers. According to a recent survey, 40 percent of the teenagers end up working in an unsatisfactory job because they don’t know what else to do. 1 It will allow us teenagers to make our own decisions and take action on our goals.
Try arranging some statements about our values of life in order of how important they are to us. For example, I prefer to follow instructions from others or I value dealing with stress at work. 2 Try to bear these values in mind when carrying out our career researches as they can impact what type of career we might want to pursue (追求).
3 The survey found that 40% of the teenagers end up leaving their jobs because they don’t want to regret spending their careers working in the wrong industry. If we’re able to find a career that we have a real passion for, we’ll get more job satisfaction and will probably stick to it.
Think about what skills we already have while planning our careers. 4 For example, if we’re good at talking people round, then perhaps a career in sales or public relations would be good for us. Or if we work well in numbers, then perhaps we should look at a career in finance (金融) or management.
Having taken these elements into consideration, we’re likely to get a general idea of our future career field. 5 This will prepare ourselves for our future work.
A.Combine them with our future jobs.
B.What we need to do next is to dig deep into it.
C.Give priority to the ones that are placed at the top.
D.So getting quality and effective career advice really matters.
E.We can acquire almost all of these skills through future work.
F.Personal interests can be a good starting point for career options.
G.It’s necessary for teenagers to choose a job before becoming adults.
1.D 2.C 3.F 4.A 5.B
1.由上文“It’s often said that there’s a need for better work guidance for us teenagers. According to a recent survey, 40 percent of the teenagers end up working in an unsatisfactory job because they don’t know what else to do. (人们常说,我们青少年需要更好的工作指导。根据最近的一项调查,40%的青少年最终从事了一份不满意的工作,因为他们不知道还能做什么。)”可知,这里提到了青少年需要更好的职业指导,且大量青少年因缺乏指导而从事不满意的工作。因此,此处应强调获得有效职业建议的重要性。选项D“So getting quality and effective career advice really matters. (所以,获得高质量和有效的职业建议真的很重要。)”能承接上文,符合题意。故选D。
2.由上文“Try arranging some statements about our values of life in order of how important they are to us. For example, I prefer to follow instructions from others or I value dealing with stress at work. (试着把一些关于我们生活价值观的陈述按照它们对我们的重要性排序。例如,我喜欢听从别人的指示,或者我重视处理工作中的压力。)”可知,上文提到尝试根据重要性排列我们生活价值观的陈述。接下来自然是要强调如何应用这些价值观,即重视那些排在最前面的价值观。因此,选项C“Give priority to the ones that are placed at the top. (优先考虑放在最上面的那些。)”能承接上文,符合题意。故选C。
3.由下文“The survey found that 40% of the teenagers end up leaving their jobs because they don’t want to regret spending their careers working in the wrong industry. If we’re able to find a career that we have a real passion for, we’ll get more job satisfaction and will probably stick to it. (调查发现,40%的青少年最终离开了他们的工作,因为他们不想后悔把自己的职业生涯花在了错误的行业。如果我们能够找到自己真正热爱的职业,我们就会获得更多的工作满足感,并可能坚持下去。)”可知,本空要谈论基于兴趣进行职业规划的思路。选项F“Personal interests can be a good starting point for career options. (个人兴趣可以是职业选择的一个良好起点。)”能引起下文,符合题意。故选F。
4.由上文“Think about what skills we already have while planning our careers. (在规划我们的职业生涯时,想想我们已经掌握了哪些技能。)”可知,本空应进一步说明如何利用这些技能。选项A“Combine them with our future jobs. (将它们与我们未来的工作相结合。)”指出应将现有技能与未来职业相结合,能承接上文,符合题意。故选A。
5.根据上文“Having taken these elements into consideration, we’re likely to get a general idea of our future career field. (考虑到这些因素后,我们可能会对未来的职业领域有一个大致的了解。)”可知,我们对未来的职涯领域有了大致概念,接下来的步骤应该是深入探索这个领域。选项B“What we need to do next is to dig deep into it. (接下来我们需要做的是深入研究它。)”承接这一思路,能承接上文,符合题意。故选B。
(23-24高一下•山东菏泽•期中)Happiness is a state of mind. When you learn to observe your thoughts and emotions (情感), you can nurture a joyful life and think more positively. After all, everyone has the potential to feel happy. 1
Keep a thought diary
Write down thoughts as they come up throughout the day. When you’ve finished, go back and read your thought diary out loud. Can you identify negative(消极的) self-talk that might hold you back from feeling joyful? When these situations arise in the future, step back for a moment. Think about why you think this way and what happened the last time you were in this situation. 2
Control the monkey mind with meditation (冥想)
Is your mind full of questions like “What do I really want to do with my life?” “Am I happy?” “Did I remember to lock the door?” 3 If you want to develop a happy, peaceful mind, you must make friends with them. Train your monkeys and give them a job to do, like watching your breath, repeating a phrase, or simply observing the present moment. These meditation practices train your mind and help calm the monkeys.
Respond vs react
4 Even so-called negative emotions, like anger, sadness, or fear, have their function. After all, a healthy fear of heights keeps you from falling off a cliff (悬崖)! The trick is to not allow your emotions to overcome you. 5 When you react, the unconscious mind takes over. You may take action without thinking, and do something you regret. Response means taking a step back and observing your emotions.
A.What kinds of thinking habits do you usually have?
B.Learn to respond to your emotions, rather than react.
C.Following these practices, you’ll think more positively and be happy.
D.Sometimes that voice in your head behaves like a bunch of monkeys.
E.You can start by understanding what causes negative thought patterns.
F.People cannot block thoughts and emotions because they are necessary.
G.Perhaps you can even come up with other good opinions on the situation.
1.C 2.G 3.D 4.F 5.B
1.上文“When you learn to observe your thoughts and emotions (情感), you can nurture a joyful life and think more positively. After all, everyone has the potential to feel happy.(当你学会观察自己的思想和情感时,你就能培养快乐的生活并更加积极地思考。毕竟,每个人都有感到快乐的潜力)”说明了关于通过观察自己的思想和情绪来培养快乐生活和积极思考的能力,空处应为一个总结性的句子来引导进入接下来的方法介绍部分,C选项“遵循这些实践,你会更积极地思考并感到快乐。”正好总结了上述内容,指出通过采取建议的措施,个人能够实现更积极的心态和幸福感,作为对全文方法论介绍的引言,符合语境。故选C。
2.上文“Can you identify negative(消极的) self-talk that might hold you back from feeling joyful? When these situations arise in the future, step back for a moment. Think about why you think this way and what happened the last time you were in this situation.(你能识别出那些可能阻碍你感受快乐的消极自我对话吗?
3.上文“Is your mind full of questions like “What do I really want to do with my life?” “Am I happy?” “Did I remember to lock the door?”(你的脑海里是否充满了诸如“我这辈子真正想做的是什么?”“我快乐吗?”“我记得锁门了吗?”之类的问题?)”及下文“If you want to develop a happy, peaceful mind, you must make friends with them. Train your monkeys and give them a job to do, like watching your breath, repeating a phrase, or simply observing the present moment.(如果你想培养一颗快乐平和的心灵,就必须与这些思绪成为朋友。训练你的“猴子们”,给它们分配任务,比如观察你的呼吸、重复一句话,或者仅仅是观察当下)”说明了脑海中充满各种疑问的情景,及如何处理这些纷扰的思绪,空处承上启下,D选项“有时候,你头脑里的那个声音就像一群猴子。”形象地描述了思绪纷飞、难以控制的状态,用“猴子”比喻了思维的活跃与难以控制,很好地引出了下文关于冥想控制“猴子心态”的讨论,符合语境。故选D。
4.下文“Even so-called negative emotions, like anger, sadness, or fear, have their function. After all, a healthy fear of heights keeps you from falling off a cliff (悬崖)! The trick is to not allow your emotions to overcome you.(即便是所谓的消极情绪,如愤怒、悲伤或恐惧,也有它们的功能。毕竟,对高度的健康恐惧能防止你从悬崖上摔下去!诀窍在于不要让情绪控制你)”说明了情绪反应的重要性,指出即使是所谓的消极情绪也有其功能,空处应探讨情绪管理的重要性,F选项“人们不能阻止思想和情绪,因为它们是必要的。”说明思想和情绪是人类体验中不可或缺的部分,为接下来讨论如何应对而不是抑制这些情绪做了铺垫,符合语境。故选F。
5.上文“The trick is to not allow your emotions to overcome you.(诀窍在于不要让情绪控制你)”及下文“When you react, the unconscious mind takes over. You may take action without thinking, and do something you regret. Response means taking a step back and observing your emotions.(当你做出反应时,无意识的思维会占据主导。你可能会不假思索地采取行动,做出让自己后悔的事情。回应则是后退一步,观察你的情绪)”说明了不让情绪控制自己是关键,并阐述了“反应”与“回应”的区别,空处承上启下,承接上文内容具体说明如何做到不让情绪控制自己,并引出下文对情绪的反应与回应的区别,B选项“学会对你的情绪作出回应,而不是做出反应。”直接点明了这一段的核心策略,主动响应而非被动反应,符合语境。故选B。
(23-24高一下•山东临沂•期中)If you have a big test coming up or want to do well in class, studying is one of the best things you can do. Here are some tips on forming the best study habits so you can do your best in class.
Study in 1-hour blocks. 1 Set aside an hour for each of your subjects so you have time to review them completely. During each block, only focus on 1 subject at a time so you don’t get information mixed up between classes.
Plan regular breaks. Since studying takes up a lot of energy and brain power, it’s a good idea to schedule 5-10 minutes of relaxation every hour. 2 Listen to music, take a walk, or go get a snack to give yourself some space from your schoolwork.
3 Working with your classmates can help keep you motivated (有动力). Ask other students that you’re in class with if they want to review with you. Try quizzing (测验) each other on concepts (概念). 4 Try teaching other people in your study group the concepts you’re learning. That way, you’ll be able to learn easier and more effectively.
Rewrite your notes in your own words. Organizing your notes helps you remember information a lot easier. 5 Rewrite them on a separate page so all of the similar information is organized and easy to read.
A.Form a study group.
B.Stay organized and work somewhere quiet.
C.Avoid working through the breaks you’ve planned.
D.Find places that work best for you so you can focus.
E.Keep your study time shorter so you don’t get worn out.
F.Solve problems independently before comparing answers.
G.Even if you took notes in class, the information may be all over the place.
1.E 2.C 3.A 4.F 5.G
1.根据空前标题句“Study in 1-hour blocks.(以1小时为单元进行学习)”可知本段的建议是要将学习时间进行以1小时为单位的划分,根据空后“Set aside an hour for each of your subjects so you have time to review them completely. During each block, only focus on 1 subject at a time so you don’t get information mixed up between classes.(为每个科目留出一个小时的时间,这样你就有时间彻底复习它们。在每节课上,一次只专注于一门课,这样你就不会在不同的课上混淆了信息。)”可知此处讲的是将学习时间进行以1小时为单位划分可以让自己更好地进行复习,空处承上启下,所以空处讲的应该是将学习时间缩短对于学习精力方面的好处,E项Keep your study time shorter so you don’t get worn out.(缩短你的学习时间,这样你就不会感到疲惫。)
以及空前“Since studying takes up a lot of energy and brain power, it’s a good idea to schedule 5-10 minutes of relaxation every hour.(因为学习需要大量的精力和脑力,所以每小时安排5-10分钟的放松时间是个好主意。)”可知因为学习需要大量的精力和脑力,所以设置定期的放松时间是个不错的主意,根据空后“Listen to music, take a walk, or go get a snack to give yourself some space from your schoolwork.(听听音乐,散个步,或者去吃点零食,让自己从功课中解脱出来。)” Avoid working through the breaks you’ve planned.(避免在你计划好的休息时间工作。)指出在计划好的休息时间里不要学习,承接上文,引出下文,而且C项中的the breaks you’ve planned照应标题句中的regular breaks以及空前的5-10 minutes of relaxation,符合上下文语境,故选C项。
根据空后“Working with your classmates can help keep you motivated (有动力). Ask other students that you’re in class with if they want to review with you.(和你的同学一起学习可以帮助你保持动力。问问班上的其他同学是否愿意和你一起复习。)”可知本段讲的是与同学一起学习的好处,所以标题句应该是建议组成学习小组,A项Form a study group.(组成学习小组。)指出本段的建议是组成学习小组,概括全段内容,符合上下文语境,故选A项。
4.根据空前“Try quizzing (测验) each other on concepts (概念).(试着对彼此的概念进行测验)”指出在学习小组内彼此可以进行概念测试,根据空后“Try teaching other people in your study group the concepts you’re learning. That way, you’ll be able to learn easier and more effectively.(试着把你正在学习的概念教给你学习小组的其他人。这样,你就能更容易、更有效地学习。)”可知此处讲的依旧是学习小组内可以做的事情以及这样做的好处,空处承上启下,所以空处应该接着上文讲在小组内可以做的事情,F项Solve problems independently before comparing answers.(先独立解决问题,再比较答案。)指出小组学习时可以先独立解决问题,再比较答案,承接上文,引出下文,符合上下文语境,故选F项。
5.根据空前“Rewrite your notes in your own words. Organizing your notes helps you remember information a lot easier.(用你自己的话重写笔记。整理笔记可以帮助你更容易地记住信息。)”指出本段的建议是要整理笔记,根据空后“Rewrite them on a separate page so all of the similar information is organized and easy to read.(在单独的页面上重写它们,这样所有类似的信息都是有组织的,易于阅读。)” Even if you took notes in class, the information may be all over the place.(即使你在课堂上做了笔记,信息也可能到处都是。)
(23-24高一下•山东日照•期中)For most of us, a large part of our work requires us to look at the screen for a long time. 1 Sadly, too much screen time can cause eye damage and affect our mood. While it is impossible to escape the screen completely, there are ways to reduce the time you place your eyes and brain under the screen strain.
2 But constant chatting means our eyes are down on our phones and other devices for long. If possible, try and schedule phone calls with distant loved ones and make face-to-face catch-up with closer relatives. “In-person meetings provide a sense of connection and empathy that is difficult to replace via video,” Paul Axtell, corporate trainer and author of the book Meetings Matter, told The Washington Post.
Keeping up to date on your social media channels is fun and socially very important for many users. But these channels can also be a big time waster for many people. 3 The next step is to gradually reduce this, particularly on days when screen usage is high for other reasons.
If you live with someone else, you can try to take on your screen time together. Establish certain areas in your home, or time periods in the day, where you both agree to stay off of your phone. 4 Consider doing some hobbies together, like cooking dinner or playing a board game.
One of the biggest tech no-no’s that people commonly commit is bringing phones, computers, and more into bed with them. Don’t charge your phone next to your bed, as it will cause you to check for messages or even the time if you wake up during the night. 5
A.One of the useful strategies is setting clear boundaries.
B.Try to limit how much time per day you will spend on social media.
C.You need regain control over the time spent on these digital devices.
D.Many of our online time-killing activities also add to the screen time.
E.Looking at the phone’s screen just before bed can affect your sleep too.
F.During that time, you can enjoy some face-to-face communication instead.
G.The Internet gives us various ways to stay in touch with friends and family.

1.上文“For most of us, a large part of our work requires us to look at the screen for a long time.”(对于我们大多数人来说,我们的大部分工作都需要我们长时间盯着屏幕。)提到大部分工作都需要我们长时间盯着屏幕,以及下文“Sadly, too much screen time can cause eye damage and affect our mood.”(可悲的是,长时间看屏幕会损害眼睛,影响我们的情绪。) Many of our online time-killing activities also add to the screen time.(许多消磨时间的在线活动也增加了我们看屏幕的时间。)
2.下文“But constant chatting means our eyes are down on our phones and other devices for long.”(但是持续的聊天意味着我们的眼睛长时间盯着手机和其他设备。) The Internet gives us various ways to stay in touch with friends and family.(互联网为我们提供了各种与朋友和家人保持联系的方式。)
3.上文“But these channels can also be a big time waster for many people.”(但对许多人来说,这些频道也会浪费大量时间。) 以及下文“The next step is to gradually reduce this, particularly on days when screen usage is high for other reasons.”(下一步是逐渐减少这种情况,特别是在由于其他原因屏幕使用率很高的日子里。) Try to limit how much time per day you will spend on social media.(尽量限制你每天花在社交媒体上的时间。)
4.上文“Establish certain areas in your home, or time periods in the day, where you both agree to stay off of your phone.”(在家里的特定区域,或者一天中的特定时间段,你们都同意远离手机。) 以及下文“Consider doing some hobbies together, like cooking dinner or playing a board game.”(考虑一起做一些爱好,比如做饭或玩棋盘游戏。) During that time, you can enjoy some face-to-face communication instead.(在这段时间里,你可以享受面对面的交流。)
5.根据上文“Don’t charge your phone next to your bed, as it will cause you to check for messages or even the time if you wake up during the night.”(不要在床边给手机充电,因为这会让你查看信息,甚至是你晚上醒来的时间。) Looking at the phone’s screen just before bed can affect your sleep too.(睡前看手机屏幕也会影响你的睡眠。)
(23-24高一下•山东淄博•期中)Walking has been considered as one of the best possible exercises. For many people, daily walking offers many and long-term physical and mental benefits. 1 A Stanford University study found that participants were more creative when walking as opposed to sitting. 2 You’ve probably heard the phrase “exercise your innovation (创新)”. Our creative mindset is caused by physical movement, which is exactly why walking with your dog, a friend, or alone feeds creative thinking.
But the scenery is almost as important as the sweat. Just by going outside, you are stepping out of your habitual surroundings and your comfort zone, which is necessary if you want to open your mind to new possibilities. You can walk through a tree-filled neighborhood. 3
Walking outside develops our ability to collect new ideas and take in new sights, sounds, smells, and flavors. Shinrin-yoku, a common form of relaxation in Japan, suggests that being in the forest and walking among the trees there can lower your stress levels 4 Research has shown that immersion (沉浸) in nature around your neighborhood or the disconnection from multimedia increased performance on a creative problem-solving task.
So instead of setting a fitness goal, why not set a creativity goal that starts with walking outdoors? 5 For example, you can turn off your phone and give yourself the chance to be present in the world, to hear conversations and natural sounds, and to notice the way people move and the way the sun reflects in a lake.
Walk not just for exercise. Walk for wonder.
A.Unfortunately, you often fail to do it.
B.Engage more closely with your surroundings.
C.The movement aspect of walking is obviously key
D.Without enough energy, you cannot wonder or create.
E.But to receive the benefits, you do not have to live in a forest.
F.This habit, however, isn’t just improving your health but an element of creativity.
G.You can also wander around a park and observe people relaxing or birds singing.

1.根据空前“Walking has been considered as one of the best possible exercises. For many people, daily walking offers many and long-term physical and mental benefits. (散步被认为是最好的运动之一。对许多人来说,每天散步对身体和精神都有长期的好处。)”以及空后“A Stanford University study found that participants were more creative when walking as opposed to sitting.(斯坦福大学的一项研究发现,参与者在走路时比坐着时更有创造力。)” F“This habit, however, isn’t just improving your health but an element of creativity.(然而,这个习惯不仅能改善你的健康,而且是创造力的一部分。)”
2.根据空前内容“A Stanford University study found that participants were more creative when walking as opposed to sitting.(斯坦福大学的一项研究发现,参与者在走路时比坐着时更有创造力。)” C“The movement aspect of walking is obviously key(步行的运动方面显然是关键)” 与上文的“walking as opposed to sitting”相呼应,并强调了运动(特别是步行)在激发创造力方面的重要性。故选C。
3.根据上文内容“But the scenery is almost as important as the sweat. Just by going outside, you are stepping out of your habitual surroundings and your comfort zone, which is necessary if you want to open your mind to new possibilities. You can walk through a tree-filled neighborhood.(但风景几乎和汗水一样重要。只要走出去,你就走出了你习惯的环境和你的舒适区,如果你想打开你的思想,接受新的可能性,这是必要的。你可以穿过绿树成荫的社区。)”可知,上文提及当我们散步时可以做些什么。选项G“You can also wander around a park and observe people relaxing or birds singing.(你也可以在公园里闲逛,观察人们放松或鸟儿唱歌。)”
4.根据空前内容“Shinrin-yoku, a common form of relaxation in Japan, suggests that being in the forest and walking among the trees there can lower your stress levels(Shinrin-yoku是日本一种常见的放松方式,它表明,在森林里,在树中间散步可以降低你的压力水平。)” E“But to receive the benefits, you do not have to live in a forest.(但是要得到这些好处,你不一定要住在森林里。)”承接上文内容,同时引出下文“Research has shown that immersion (沉浸) in nature around your neighborhood or the disconnection from multimedia increased performance on a creative problem-solving task.(研究表明,沉浸在你周围的大自然中,或者脱离多媒体,可以提高你在创造性问题解决任务中的表现。)”
5.根据空后内容“For example, you can turn off your phone and give yourself the chance to be present in the world, to hear conversations and natural sounds, and to notice the way people move and the way the sun reflects in a lake.(例如,你可以关掉手机,给自己一个机会活在这个世界上,听对话和自然的声音,注意人们移动的方式和太阳在湖中反射的方式。)” B“Engage more closely with your surroundings.(更密切地与周围环境接触。)”
(23-24高一下•山东•期中)It’s a struggle for many of us to get out of the sedentary (久坐的) lifestyle, despite our best intentions. 1 , the biggest barriers are mental ones. Maybe it’s a lack of self-confidence that keeps you from taking positive steps, or you get easily discouraged and give up.
You already know there are many ways and great reasons to exercise — from improving mood, sleep, and health to reducing anxiety. But knowing how and why to exercise can’t get you starting and sticking to your exercise plan. 2 , you need to follow these steps which can make exercise less painful and more fun.
● Get rid of the all-or-nothing attitude. You don’t have to spend hours in a gym or force yourself into boring or painful activities you hate to experience the physical and emotional benefits of exercise. 3 . In fact, adding just tiny amounts of physical activity to your weekly routine can have a great effect on your mental and physical health.
● Be kind to yourself. Don’t punish yourself if you miss a workout. 4 . If you miss a day, consider it a rest day, and remember there’s always tomorrow. If you have a hard time sticking with your workout routine, just try something different. There are plenty of ways to stay active, and at the end of the day, you will find an exercise routine that works for you.
● 5 . You are not out of shape overnight, and you’re not going to instantly transform your body either. Demanding too much, too soon only leads to dissatisfaction. Instead of paying attention only to results, focus on consistency (连贯性).
A.Let it go and be patient
B.Share the results with others
C.Have reasonable expectations
D.If you really want to make exercise a habit
E.Remember a little exercise is better than nothing
F.If you are having trouble in finding an exercise to do on a daily basis
G.While practical concerns like a busy schedule can make exercise challenging

1.空前“It’s a struggle for many of us to get out of the sedentary (久坐的) lifestyle, despite our best intentions.(尽管我们有最好的意图,对我们中的许多人来说,摆脱久坐不动的生活方式是一场斗争)”说明对我们中的大多数人而言,摆脱久坐的生活方式仍是一件难事。
2.空前“You already know there are many ways and great reasons to exercise — from improving mood, sleep, and health to reducing anxiety. But knowing how and why to exercise can’t get you starting and sticking to your exercise plan.(你已经知道有很多方法和很好的理由去锻炼——从改善情绪、睡眠和健康到减少焦虑。但是知道如何以及为什么锻炼并不能让你开始并坚持你的锻炼计划)”说明尽管你知道锻炼的多种方法和重要原因,但这些无法帮助你开始并坚持锻炼计划。空后“you need to follow these steps which can make exercise less painful and more fun(你需要遵循这些措施,它们可以让锻炼少一些痛苦,多一些乐趣)”说明需要遵循这些措施以使锻炼变得不那么痛苦且更有乐趣。
3.空前“Get rid of the all-or-nothing attitude. You don’t have to spend hours in a gym or force yourself into boring or painful activities you hate to experience the physical and emotional benefits of exercise.(摆脱孤注一掷的态度。你不必花几个小时在健身房或强迫自己做无聊或痛苦的你不喜欢的活动,为了体验锻炼对身体和情感的好处)”说明摒弃极端的态度,你不用长时间待在健身房或强迫自己做自己讨厌的单调或痛苦的活动来体验锻炼对身体和情感的益处。因此空处需要填入的内容应与对待运动的正确态度有关。E项“Remember a little exercise is better than nothing(请记住,一点运动总比没有好)”与空前提到的极端的态度形成对比,强调即使是少量的锻炼也好过完全不锻炼,且E项中的“a little exercise”与空后的“tiny amounts of physical activity”呼应。故选E。
4.空前“Be kind to yourself. Don’t punish yourself if you miss a workout.(善待自己。不要因为错过了锻炼而惩罚自己)”暗示空处填入的内容应与对待错过锻炼的态度有关,尤其是在没有按时每天锻炼时如何保持积极的心态。A项中的“Let it go”与前文的态度一致,强调采取一种轻松态度——随它去吧。A项中的“be patient”呼应后文中的“at the end of the day, you will find an exercise routine that works for you (归根结底,您会找到适合您的锻炼进程)”,因此推断A项“放手,耐心等待”符合句意。故选A。
空后“You are not out of shape overnight, and you’re not going to instantly transform your body either. Demanding too much, too soon only leads to dissatisfaction. Instead of paying attention only to results, focus on consistency (连贯性).(你不会一夜之间走样,你也不会立刻改变你的身材。要求太多,太快只会导致不满。与其只关注结果,不如关注连贯性)”讲述你不是一夜之间变得不健康的,你也不可能立刻改变你的身体,接着指出要求太多和太快只会导致不满。由此可推知,本段主要讲述的是要有合理的锻炼期望。故选C。
(23-24高一下•山东德州•期中)Without goals, you may feel like wandering through life without a plan, purpose, or sense of direction. Despite knowing the importance of goals, many people fail to set a meaningful goal and successfully achieve it. 1 Others set lots of goals for themselves but end up not achieving them. Read on, and you may benefit a lot from a set of steps as follows.
Set a SMART goal and write it down.
The first step is to figure out what you want or need to change. 2 It is a goal that has the following required elements: specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound. Writing down your goal is also important because this simple step is proven to make you more likely to accomplish it.
3
After you identify a SMART goal, the next step is to make a specific plan on exactly how you will achieve it. You should break the goal down into a set of actionable steps you can take. 4 Besides, it’s beneficial to make a list of outcomes or specific milestones that will indicate progress.
Take small, consistent (持续的) steps early on.
Early on, it can be better to make small changes to your daily routine than to make big changes all at once. Consistency is key when it comes to working towards any goal. Research has shown that it takes an average person 66 days to form a new habit. 5 It no longer requires as much attention, time, and effort as before, thus boosting your confidence and keeping you on the track of achieving your goal.
A.Reconsider your goal.
B.Make an action plan to get started.
C.You then need to turn this into a SMART goal.
D.Some of them don’t know where or how to start.
E.Keeping track of your progress helps you stay focused.
F.Once this happens, the new behavior has become “automatic”.
G.Identify the skills and strategies you need to complete each step.
1.D 2.C 3.B 4.G 5.F
1.根据前文“Without goals, you may feel like wandering through life without a plan, purpose, or sense of direction. Despite knowing the importance of goals, many people fail to set a meaningful goal and successfully achieve it.(没有目标,你可能会觉得自己像在没有计划、目的或方向感的生活中徘徊。尽管知道目标的重要性,但许多人都没有设定一个有意义的目标并成功地实现它)”以及后文“Others set lots of goals for themselves but end up not achieving them.(其他人为自己设定了很多目标,但最终没有实现)”可知,此处在讲述许多人都没有设定一个有意义的目标并成功地实现它,所以D项“Some of them don’t know where or how to start.(他们中的一些人不知道从哪里或如何开始)”符合此处主题,且some和other构成顺承关系。故选D项。
2.根据本段小标题“Set a SMART goal and write it down.(设定一个明智的目标并写下来)”可知,C项“You then need to turn this into a SMART goal.(然后你需要把它变成一个明智的目标)”符合本段主题,和上文“The first step is to figure out what you want or need to change.(第一步是弄清楚你想要或需要改变什么)”是顺承关系,其中SMART为同词复现。故选C项。
3.分析设空,为本段小标题,根据后文“After you identify a SMART goal, the next step is to make a specific plan on exactly how you will achieve it. You should break the goal down into a set of actionable steps you can take.(在你确定了一个明智的目标之后,下一步就是制定一个具体的计划,确切地说你将如何实现它。你应该把目标分解成一系列你可以执行的步骤)”可知,本段主要讲述了制定一个具体的计划来实现目标,所以B项“Make an action plan to get started.(制定一个行动计划来开始)”符合文意,为本段主题。故选B项。
4.根据前文“You should break the goal down into a set of actionable steps you can take.(你应该把目标分解成一系列你可以执行的步骤)”可知,G项“Identify the skills and strategies you need to complete each step.(确定完成每一步所需的技巧和策略)”是对前文的进一步说明,其中step为同词复现。故选G项。
5.根据前文“Early on, it can be better to make small changes to your daily routine than to make big changes all at once. Consistency is key when it comes to working towards any goal. Research has shown that it takes an average person 66 days to form a new habit.(在早期,对你的日常生活做一些小的改变比一次做出大的改变要好。坚持是实现任何目标的关键。研究表明,一个人平均需要66天才能形成一个新习惯)”可知,F项“Once this happens, the new behavior has become “automatic”.(一旦这种情况发生,新的行为就变成了“自动的”)”是对前文的进一步说明,而后文“It no longer requires as much attention, time, and effort as before, thus boosting your confidence and keeping you on the track of achieving your goal.(它不再像以前那样需要那么多的注意力、时间和努力,从而增强了你的信心,让你走在实现目标的轨道上)”则是对F项进一步说明。故选F项。

Whenever someone needs help, friends from all over the world can immediately provide useful suggestions or information. Online communication can actually bring people closer to each other. In spite of this, some people believe that the Internet has many negative aspects.
2 Images really cannot replace a real-life smile or hug. According to a parenting expert, Denise Daniels, communicating through a screen makes it more difficult for children to concentrate or show kindness to others. Important social skills are developed through direct contact. It is these skills that enable us to develop lifelong friendships.
The Internet can make people self-centred. 3 For example, instead of having proper conversations with friends, some people are only concerned with their online popularity — How many “likes” did I get? How many followers do I have? — though we know that the number of “likes” or followers cannot compare to having long-term and rewarding friendships. 4 Posts about funny cat images do not necessarily help form meaningful relationship.
Online relationships may not be what they appear to be. Friendships are built on the basis of trust. With online communication you can never be 100 percent sure that the people you are chatting to are being honest about who they are. 5
In my opinion, friends should focus more on face-to-face communication, and less on online communication. This is the best way to maintain healthy relationships.
A.The Internet has completely changed people’s lives.
B.They never think of anyone or anything but themselves.
C.Talking online is no replacement for face-to-face contact.
D.You can stay in touch with friends no matter where you are.
E.It’s impolite to post embarrassing information of other people.
F.In addition, a lot of the content posted on social media is of little value.
G.Going online can be dangerous if you are easily influenced or too trusting.
1.D 2.C 3.B 4.F 5.G
1.由上文“As we know, the Internet can help develop friendships in many ways. It makes communication much more convenient.(正如我们所知,互联网可以在很多方面帮助发展友谊。它使交流更加方便。)”可知,这里主要讲互联网让交流更加方便,而D项You can stay in touch with friends no matter where you are.(无论身在何处,你都可以与朋友保持联系。)
2.由下文“Images really cannot replace a real-life smile or hug. According to a parenting expert, Denise Daniels, communicating through a screen makes it more difficult for children to concentrate or show kindness to others. Important social skills are developed through direct contact. It is these skills that enable us to develop lifelong friendships.(照片真的无法取代现实生活中的微笑或拥抱。育儿专家Denise Daniels表示,通过屏幕交流会让孩子更难集中注意力或对他人表现出善意。重要的社交技能是通过直接接触发展起来的。正是这些技能使我们能够发展终身友谊。)”可知,这里主要讲网络交流相对于面对面交流的一些弊端,所以C项Talking online is no replacement for face-to-face contact.(在线交谈无法取代面对面的接触。)
3.由上文“The Internet can make people self-centred. (互联网可以使人们以自我为中心。)”以及下文举例可知,本段主要讲互联网使人以自我为中心,而B项They never think of anyone or anything but themselves.(除了他们自己,他们从不为任何人或任何事着想。)符合语境,其中They代指上文people, never think of anyone or anything but themselves也与上文self-centred对应。故选B项。
4.由下文“Posts about funny cat images do not necessarily help form meaningful relationship.(关于有趣的猫图片的帖子并不一定有助于建立有意义的关系。)” In addition, a lot of the content posted on social media is of little value.(此外,社交媒体上发布的许多内容都没有什么价值。)符合语境,其中of little value与下文not necessarily help form meaningful relationship对应,有启下作用。

Going online can be dangerous if you are easily influenced or too trusting.(如果你很容易受到影响或过于信任,上网可能会很危险。)符合语境,其中 dangerous与上文you can never be 100 percent sure that the people you are chatting to are being honest about who they are对应,所以有承上作用。故选G项。
(23-24高一下•山东潍坊•期中)A supermarket express lane (通道) is a cashier checkout designed for a limited number of items, such as a little snack or a little handful of goods. Having an express lane allows the shopper with a few items to get out of the store quickly. 1
The express checkout lane usually has a smaller counter area than the regular checkout lanes. It’s also narrower since it is not made for grocery carts to go through. 2 Shoppers that need only one or two items may not even use a basket and instead just carry the items in their hands to the express checkout.
3 Even if you’re not the first one in line, if the people in front of you have 10 itemsor less, it should take less time than if you have people with cartloads full of items in front of you. Yet, sometimes it may be faster to check out a small number of items in a regular lane if there are many people lined up in the express lane, but only one or two in the regular lane.
In determining if the express checkout would be the fastest, focus on the number of items ahead of you rather than going by the number of people in line. 4 Sometimes, the line may come to a stop if a customer is questioning the price of something or needs to exchange an item.
The self-checkout system may replace the express lane. Some customers appreciate being able to check out their items themselves. 5 If a supermarket doesn’t have an express lane of some kind, shoppers may be tempted to pay a bit more and buy their extra milk or other items at a convenience store.
A.Follow the rules of the express lane.
B.Some cashiers are quicker and more experienced.
C.Many supermarkets have a 10 items or less express lane.
D.Only the hand held baskets are used by express shoppers.
E.This may test your patience, especially if you’re in a rush.
F.However, many people prefer having the cashier put their items through.
G.Using the express lane often saves time waiting in line at the supermarket.

1.根据上文“A supermarket express lane (通道) is a cashier checkout designed for a limited number of items, such as a little snack or a little handful of goods. Having an express lane allows the shopper with a few items to get out of the store quickly.(超市快速通道是为有限数量的商品设计的收银台,比如一点零食或一小把商品。有一条快速通道可以让购物者带着几件商品快速离开商店)”可知,本句承接上文,说明超市有快速通道的情况。故C选项“许多超市都有10件或更少物品的快速通道”符合语境,故选C。
2.根据上文“The express checkout lane usually has a smaller counter area than the regular checkout lanes. It’s also narrower since it is not made for grocery carts to go through.(快速结账通道的柜台面积通常比普通结账通道小。它也更窄,因为它不是为购物车而设计的)”可知,上文提到了快速通道不是给购物车设计的,可知本句是在说明其设计的真正意图。故D选项“只有手提式购物篮是快递顾客使用的”符合语境,故选D。
3.根据下文“Even if you’re not the first one in line, if the people in front of you have 10 itemsor less, it should take less time than if you have people with cartloads full of items in front of you. Yet, sometimes it may be faster to check out a small number of items in a regular lane if there are many people lined up in the express lane, but only one or two in the regular lane.(即使你不是第一个排队的人,如果你前面的人有10件或更少的东西,你应该比你前面的人有一车的东西花更少的时间。)”
4.根据上文“In determining if the express checkout would be the fastest, focus on the number of items ahead of you rather than going by the number of people in line.(在确定快速结账是否最快时,要关注你面前的商品数量,而不是排队的人数)”以及后文“Sometimes, the line may come to a stop if a customer is questioning the price of something or needs to exchange an item.
This new job paid better, had a cooler title, and the HR guy was so nice…but now it’s disappointing and you want your old job back. This feeling is called “shift shock.”
“ 1 We’d see the office and the people, and you’d kind of sense what kind of place it was,” leadership coach Shayla Thurlow said. “Now, when we’re interviewing over Google Hangouts, we’re not really able to see people and get those feelings.” She suggested job searchers look at employee activity on LinkedIn or find a present employee and drop them an InMail. 2 Why is this position accessible? Is someone leaving this role? If so, how long were they in the role? But if you have taken the role and it just doesn’t feel right anymore, Thurlow has some advice:
See if it can be saved. Sometimes it could just be a misunderstanding over responsibilities or something else that can be corrected. “But if you get in and you find that it’s a poorly presented, undersold–or oversold–opportunity, that’s the time to go back and look at your search and see what you found that you didn’t want,” Thurlow said. “You’re either going to leave this job or you’re not. So just keep asking: What else can I do? 3 ”
Rethink your wants. Are you experiencing something known as fading affect bias (偏差), when you forget what you disliked at your last job? “ 4 If you’re feeling stressed because you’re in that situation and feel stuck, slow yourself down,” said Thurlow. “Give yourself some space because you want to set yourself up to make a really good decision. Then, identify the source of your discontent and ask yourself, is it the job or is it that you just went through a big change?”
5 “It’s never too soon, but just make sure you’re making the right decision. If you do move on, be prepared to talk about it and be frank with your next employer,” Thurlow said.
A.If all else fails, leave.
B.Avoid being too hard on yourself.
C.In the old days, we went in for an interview.
D.You should also ask the hard questions, Thurlow added.
E.There are three main signs that you could be experiencing it.
F.That puts you in a place of choice, which is very powerful.
G.The feeling might be a result of the position, the company, or both.

1.根据后文“We’d see the office and the people, and you’d kind of sense what kind of place it was(我们会看到办公室和人们,你会感觉到这是一个什么样的地方)”和“Now, when we’re interviewing over Google Hangouts, we’re not really able to see people and get those feelings.(现在,当我们通过Google Hangouts进行采访时,我们无法真正看到人们并获得那种感觉。)”
2.根据后文“Why is this position accessible? Is someone leaving this role? If so, how long were they in the role?(为什么这个职位空缺?有人要离开这个职位了吗?如果有,他们在这个职位上多久了?)”可知,此处是指你也可以问一些尖锐的问题,所以选项D“瑟洛补充说,你也应该问一些棘手的问题。”切合文意。故选D。
3.根据前文“You’re either going to leave this job or you’re not. So just keep asking: What else can I do?(你要么离开这份工作,要么不离开。所以继续问自己:我还能做什么?)”可知,此处是指要让自己有选择的余地,所以选项F“这让你处于一个选择的位置,这是非常强大的。”切合文意。故选F。
4.根据后文“If you’re feeling stressed because you’re in that situation and feel stuck, slow yourself down(如果你觉得压力很大,因为你在那种情况下,感觉被困住了,让自己慢下来)”可知,此处是指要学会放松,别对自己太苛刻,所以选项B“避免对自己太苛刻。”
5.根据后文“It’s never too soon, but just make sure you’re making the right decision. If you do move on, be prepared to talk about it and be frank with your next employer(永远不会太早,但要确保你做出了正确的决定。如果你真的离职了,准备好和你的下一任雇主坦诚地谈论这件事)”可知,此处是指如果以上的建议都失效,就是离开的时候了,所以选项A“如果这些都失败了,那就离开。”切合文意。故选A。

As we know, the Internet can help develop friendships in many ways. It makes communication much more convenient. 1 Nowadays, your friends are just a click away.
