We all have a picture of what our hometown is like in our minds. We know all the things
around it just like the back of our hands. We also know that things change: We left school and whenwe come back, everything seems different.
I grew up in South Carolina. I always thought that it was a small town until I left for Newberry College. Newberry is a small town, and there isn’t much to do. I never realized (意到) how much
there was to do in my hometown. I could walk in the park, go to a cinema or go shopping in the
outside malls.
My hometown had always been a lively town in my mind where everyone knew each other anddid activities outside, but when I came back this summer, I realized how wrong I was. I couldn’t
believe my eyes. For example, my high school was cool because many things were outside. Sure, it was terrible when it rained, but it was so much fun when the playground became a “lake”. Now it is indoors. I understand why they decided to do this — to keep the students safe.
Maybe that is what growing up is like. You don’t want great changes to happen, but you have
to learn to live with all the changes. In a way, I have changed too. I am not the little girl I used to be.Maybe my hometown is changing for the better, just like me. I will always remember what my
hometown is like and what it was like before I left for college.

A. Interested. B. Surprised. C. Natural. D. Worried.
53. Why did the school make the playground indoors?
A. Because it wanted to keep the students safe.
B. Because it was always rainy there.
C. Because it wanted to stop students playing in the lake.
D. Because students didn’t like to have fun outside.
54. Which of the following might the writer agree with?
A. Things are always changing.
B. Schools should make everything outside.
C. The smaller a place is, the better it will be.
D. We should try to stop things from changing.
55. Which of the following is the best title for the passage?
A. Changes are better B. Growing up with changes
C. The indoor playground D. My hometown in my memory
