(You) Shut up!
(You) Need help?
(It) Doesn't matter.
Let's do the dishes. I'll wash (dishes) and you'll dry (dishes).
(You come) This way, please.
(Have you) Got water?

Skiddaw in Winter
Cumbria, England
It was an extremely cold winter's evening and freezing fog hung in the air. I climbed to the top of a small rise and realised that the mist was little more than a few feet deep, and though it was only a short climb, I found myself completely above it and looking at a wonderfully clear view of Skiddaw with the sun setting in the west. I used classical techniques, translated from my college days spent in the darkroom into Photoshop, to achieve the blackandwhite image (图像).

Researchers say the world has lost more than one fourth of its landbased insects over the past 30 years. The finding comes from a major study of insect populations worldwide. The researchers noted the loss of such insects suggests a more complex problem than earlier research has shown.
Ants, bees, butterflies and other landbased insects have been sufferingW1 population drops of about nine percent every 10 years or so. The number of insects on averageP1 has declinedW2 in the air, in the grass and soil, but not in trees or underground, the researchers found. Some estimates show that landbased insects will face a population drop of 24 percent in the next 30 years. The researchers did not find a link to climate change in the loss of insects. But they did note the widespread effects of growing cities and loss of underdeveloped areas to agriculture.
However, freshwater insects, such as dragonflies and mosquitoes, have been a different story. These insects were found to have experienced a population increase of about 1 percent every 10 years. Freshwater covers only 2.5 percent of the Earth's surface, so the majority of insects live mainly on land. The researchers said cleanwater policies established in recent years were responsible forP2 the increase in freshwater insects.
“The decline across insect orders on land is very surprising,” said Nick Haddad, an expert on butterflies at Michigan State University. He was not involved in the study. Ongoing decline on land at this rate will be extremely damaging for ecological systems and for humans, Haddad told the Associated Press. He noted that insects are pollinators They move pollen from part of the flower of a plant to another part. This causes the plant to produce fruit or seeds. Insects also help to break down dead plants and animals. Nick Haddad added that insects also serve as food to many animals, making them very important to the earth's ecosystems.
Other scientists said the findings made sense. They would go on with the study with more accurate data.

6.Why does the author say freshwater insects have been a different story?
A.They reproduce very quickly.
B.Their habitat has been protected.
C.Their population is in the minority.
D.They can live both on land and in water.
根据第三段第四句“The researchers said cleanwater policies established in recent years were responsible for the increase in freshwater insects.”
7.What is Paragraph 4 mainly about?

B.The importance of insects to the ecosystems.

固定短语as a result of “由于……;作为…… 故填a。
have the ability to do sth “有能力做某事” ,应用动词不定式作后置定语,修饰名词ability。故填 to produce。
故填is believed。
5.But/Yet 考查连词。 故填But/Yet。

固定短语be likely to do “可能做某事”。故填to die。
故填were。
故填which。
