阅读理解 A (2025·八省联考)Jane Jacobs spent her working life advancing a distinct vision of the city—in particular focusing on what makes a successful urban community. At the heart of her vision is the idea that urban life should be an energetic and rich affair, whereby people are able to interact with one another in dense (稠密) and exciting urban environments. She prefers disorder to order, walking to driving, and diversity to uniformity. For Jacobs, urban communities are organic beings that should be left to grow and change by themselves and not be subject to the grand plans of socalled experts and officials. The best judges of how a city should be—and how it should develop—are the local residents themselves. Jacobs argues that urban communities are best placed to understand how their city functions, because city life is created and sustained through their various interactions. Jacobs notes that the built form of a city is crucial to the life of an urban community, especially the sidewalks. The streets in which people live should be a tight pattern of crossed sidewalks, which allow people to meet, talk, and get to know one another. Such a complex but ultimately enriching set of encounters helps individuals know their neighbours and neighbourhood better. Diversity and mixeduse of space are also, for Jacobs, key elements of this urban form. The commercial, business, and residential elements of a city should not be separated out but instead be side by side, to allow for greater integration of people. There should also be a diversity of old and new buildings, and people's interactions should determine how buildings get used and reused. Finally, urban communities grow better in places where a critical mass of people live, work, and interact. Such highdensity spaces are, she feels, engines of creativity and vitality. They are also safe places to be, because the higher density means that there are more “eyes on the street”: shopkeepers and locals who know their area and maintain a close watch over the neighbourhood. 1.What does Jacobs find most important for a successful urban community? A.Efficient public transport. D.Convenient for the old. 根据文章第三段“The streets in which people live should be a tight pattern of crossed sidewalks, which allow people to meet, talk, and get to know one another. Such a complex but ultimately enriching set of encounters helps individuals know their neighbours and neighbourhood better. (人们居住的街道应当是纵横交错的人行道构成的紧密格局,这样人们才能相遇、交谈并相互了解。这样一系列复杂但最终丰富的相遇,有助于人们更好地了解自己的邻居和社区。)”可知,Jacobs建议修建连接紧密的人行道。故选C。 4.According to Jacobs, the “eyes on the street” bring a sense of . A.pride B.comfort C.security D.urgency 解析 C 推理判断题。根据文章最后一段“They are also safe places to be, because the higher density means that there are more ‘eyes on the street’: shopkeepers and locals who know their area and maintain a close watch over the neighbourhood. (它们也是安全的地方,因为人口密度高意味着有更多‘街头的眼睛’:店主和当地人熟悉自己的区域,并密切留意着社区的情况。)”可知,Jacobs认为,“街头的眼睛”给人们带来一种安全的感觉。故选C。 B (2025·甘青宁三省联考)In a village in Senegal, dozens of teenagers in colorful shorts are throwing each other to the ground against a backdrop of palm trees. It's a common sight across Senegal. But in most of the country, wrestling remains offlimits for women. There is one exception. In the Casamance region, home to the Jola ethnic group, women traditionally wrestle alongside men. At a recent training session in Mlomp, most teenagers on the sandy ground were girls. “It's in our blood,” said coach Isabelle Sambou, 43, a twotime Olympian and ninetime African wrestling champion. “In my village, girls wrestle. My mum was a wrestler and my aunts were wrestlers.” But once Jola women marry, they are expected to stop practicing and devote themselves to family life, which is regarded as the main duty of Senegalese women. That hasn't been the case for Sambou, who, despite her humble behavior and small size, displays strength and determination. She overcame barriers to become a professional athlete. As a teenager, Sambou was noticed by a professional wrestling coach at a competition during the annual Festival of the King of Oussouye, one of the few events accessible to women. The coach suggested that she try Olympic wrestling. Wrestling brought Sambou to the Olympic Games in London and Rio de Janeiro, where she placed outside the medal contenders (争夺者). But being a successful professional female athlete in a conservative society comes with a price. Sambou recalled her experiences in parts of Senegal beyond her home region and said, “When I walked around in shorts, people were saying, ‘Look, is it a woman or is it a boy?’” In 2016, facing her mid30s, Sambou decided to retire and move back to her village. “I thought it was time to think of something else, maybe finding a job or starting a family,” she said. “But that hasn't happened so far.” Instead, she is focused on finding “future Isabelles”. She hopes the girls she coaches can achieve her dream of winning an Olympic medal. 5.What does the text say about wrestling in Senegal? A.It's a maledominated sport. B.It's only teenagertargeted. C.It requires strict formal training. D.It remains illegal for women. 由文章第一段中“But in most of the country, wrestling remains offlimits for women. (但在这个国家的大部分地区,摔跤仍然是女性的禁区。)”可知,在塞内加尔的大部分地区,摔跤仍然是女性的禁区,即摔跤是一项男性主导的运动。故选A。 6.What happened to Sambou's mother after she got married? A.She gave up wrestling. B.She tried Olympic wrestling. C.She became a wrestling coach. D.She started practicing wrestling. 根据文章第四段“But once Jola women marry, they are expected to stop practicing and devote themselves to family life, which is regarded as the main duty of Senegalese women. (但是,一旦乔拉妇女结婚,她们就应该停止练习,全身心地投入到家庭生活中,这被视为塞内加尔妇女的主要职责。)”可以推断,Sambou的母亲结婚后放弃了摔跤,选择了家庭生活。故选A。 7.What is a barrier facing Sambou as a wrestler? A.Having no access to training. B.Being opposed by her family. C.Having no competitions to enter. D.Being laughed at for her gender. 根据文章第七段“But being a successful professional female athlete in a conservative society comes with a price. Sambou recalled her experiences in parts of Senegal beyond her home region and said, ‘When I walked around in shorts, people were saying, “Look, is it a woman or is it a boy?”’ (但在一个保守的社会里,成为一名成功的职业女运动员是要付出代价的。Sambou回忆起她在家乡以外的塞内加尔部分地区的经历,她说:‘当我穿着短裤四处走动时,人们说,“看,这是一个女人还是一个男孩?”’)”可知,Sambou作为女性摔跤手面临的障碍是因为她的性别而被嘲笑。故选D。 8.What is Sambou's current dream? A.To devote herself to her kids. B.To win medals as a wrestler. C.To find a job outside her village. D.To coach future Olympic medalists. 根据文章最后一段“Instead, she is focused on finding ‘future Isabelles’. She hopes the girls she coaches can achieve her dream of winning an Olympic medal. (相反,她专注于寻找‘未来的伊莎贝尔’。她希望她训练的姑娘们能实现她赢得奥运会奖牌的梦想。)”可知,Sambou现在的梦想是培养未来的奥运会奖牌获得者。故选D。 Ⅱ.七选五 (2024·东北三省四市联考)Problemsolving skills are increasingly valuable in the workplace—and could help you achieve more in your personal life too. Here's how to enhance your strategy. Develop analytical thinking The key to effective problemsolving is the ability to break down complex issues into smaller, more manageable components: 1 . This involves systematically deconstructing a problem, understanding its differences and identifying the relationships between its various elements. Begin by clearly defining the problem at hand, identifying its key components and recognizing the interconnections between them. Promote creativity 2 . To develop creativity, you must engage in activities that can stimulate your imagination and form new ideas. Additionally, exposing yourself to different fields, experiences and cultures can serve as a source of creative problemsolving. Strengthen communication skills Clear and brief communication is the key to effective problemsolving, acting as the bridge that connects diverse perspectives and adjusts individuals toward a common goal. Good communication begins with the art of expression. This needs choosing the right words and structuring information logically. Active listening, on the other hand, is the skill of receiving information with focus. 3 . Learn from mistakes Mistakes are not failures but a good way to success. 4 . Analyze what goes wrong, identify areas for improvement and use this knowledge to inform your future problemsolving efforts. It not only accelerates the learning process but also encourages collective problemsolving skills. 5 The journey to becoming an expert problem solver is an ongoing process of growth and improvement. Seeking continuous learning opportunities ensures that you stay ahead of changing challenges and acquire the necessary skills. Furthermore, networking with professionals in your field provides a good way of shared learning. As the saying goes, you are what you eat. This shows what an important role the food we eat plays in keeping us healthy. To have a balanced, healthy diet, to begin with, you must say no to junk food. Junk food, which usually contains much salt and sugar and high in fat and energy, may do great harm to our body. What's more, you need to eat more fruit and vegetables which are rich in vitamins and minerals. I hope my suggestions would be helpful to you. Yours, Li Hua Ⅲ. The waiter carefully placed our food on the table. “Enjoy your meal. Let me know if you need anything,” he said with a polite smile as he walked off to serve the other guests in the restaurant. Raul lifted his fork to begin eating before I interrupted him, “Wait, can I take a picture for my blog?” He sighed, “Go ahead.” I took out my cell phone and took the picture. Then, I spent the next thirty seconds deciding on how to make a perfect post. By the time our ice cream dessert came around, I was getting ready to take my fifth picture of the night. Raul rolled his eyes. I quickly had a shot of the dessert before asking him, “Sorry, am I bothering you by taking pictures?” “I'm not going to lie. It's a little annoying,” he said hesitantly. “But it's okay. I want you to do what makes you happy.” I put away the phone, a little bit embarrassed, and decided to just enjoy our dinner. While we conversed over dessert, his statement lingered(逗留)in the back of my mind. It wasn't until I reached home that I really thought over the issue. Did taking pictures of my life to show someone whom I barely spoke to make me happy? Well, there was definitely that indescribable feeling I felt when my post gained over twenty likes. It felt good; it felt like I won. But, what was the prize? I looked through the stream of photos that I had posted of Raul and me. Most were of our time spent at fine restaurants or the latest attractions near our city, and the brand name gifts we bought each other on holidays. I clicked on the profiles of other people I knew and noticed a similar trend. Well, when my post gained over twenty likes, it felt good. But does it really matter? I called Raul that night. “How about doing something meaningful for at least the next year?” I answered. One possible version: I called Raul that night. I first expressed my sincere apology to him. “I'm really sorry about the pictures tonight. I had a good time with you but I think it could have been better if I just didn't take any pictures,” I admitted to him. “Don't worry about it. It's honestly okay,” he replied. “No, it's not. I've been thinking about it all night. I don't want social media to bother me or even bother you. I actually came up with a good idea.” “Really? What's this big idea?” “How about doing something meaningful for at least the next year?” I answered.“Like what?” Raul inquired, his interest clearly engaged. “Let's explore new hobbies, volunteer in our community, and spend quality time with each other without the distraction of social media.” He paused for a moment, considering the proposal. “I think that's a fantastic idea. Let's do it. It's time we took control of our experiences and not let social media decide how we enjoy our time together.” I smiled and said, “Good night, Raul. Let's start tomorrow.”
